[Q] HTC Desire - bit complicated problem!! - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have this HTC Desire phone, which has a kind of history. The entire phone is actually a mix and match of various parts of other HTC Desire phones which were faulty or broken etc. So the working parts were put together and lo behold, a phone!! Apparently, it was working for sometime, but now, it is in a continuous HTC logo screen loop.
Now, this phone has found me by some cruel ways of the nature and I would love to put some life back in it. I am giving you these info, so the best minds that may be can advice me what i can do with it (except of course send it down the drain).
- the phone charges up and is stuck on the HTC logo screen
- it goes off, comes back again with vibration onto the logo screen
- i am unable to get into the hard reset option (vol down + power). because, everytime i do that, only the htc logo screen appears.
- i do not know whether s-off is activated or not
- i do know that it had only the official android on it and was not rooted or modified.
- i do not know if it is unlocked or locked to any network
What i like to do is this - put in one of the custom ROM via PC and make it work again. If anyone feels it is not a complicated situation, please tell me what i need to do. I would sincerely and greatly appreciate this.
thanks

[Q] EVO keeps rebooting very quickly, can't boot, can't get into recovery

EDIT: problem solved - it was a crap battery. Leaving original contents intact in case someone else has this problem and comes across my post.
Hi all,
Just got a used Evo 4G with the intent of flashing it to Metro for my brother. I don't know what software version is on the phone.
When it's powered on, the while screen that says "htc EVO 4G" flashes for like, a quarter of a second, then the display goes blank, and it flashes again. It's trying to boot but just can't.
I'm really familiar with the Galaxy S phones & rooting/flashing in general, so I looked up the EVO's recovery menu and it looks like you hold "Volume Down" while powering on to get into it. I do that, and what looks like a recovery screen for a split second, but then reboots quickly. I don't have time to do anything in the menu.
This phone doesn't have an SD card. Is that part of the problem? Has anyone heard of this super fast reboot problem? I'm comfortable fixing it if it's actually fixable, just haven't heard of this issue before. Oh, also, phone doesn't look physically damaged or have water damage.
Thanks for your input.
Have you verified if it is s-off? Or if it has a custom recovery?
While phone is off hold down volume down and power button to get to bootloader

if you can get into bootloader check the top line and see if you are S-ON or S-OFF. If you cannot get into recovery at all, I would try a ruu and if it doesnt work then I would say its a hardware issue. Hope you have TEP
Thanks for the replies!
The phone wouldn't stay on long enough to do anything in recovery at all - would try to boot for no more than 1/4 second then restart.
I noticed the orange charge light was flashing, so I did more research, and it turns out the battery that came with the Evo is garbage. I got a new aftermarket one and the phone boots perfectly.
Problem solved, mods feel free to close.
Thanks again!

[Q] Can't boot HTC Wildfire S

A friend of mine, gave me today an HTC Wildfire S, who found laying in the street. Problem is that i can't boot it, even in bootloader (Vol Down + Power) if i try to boot into bootloader only a tiny red light appears on one sensor, and if i try to boot into android, it appears to boot but nothing appears on the screen.
Any Advice?
Is it detected when connected to a PC?

I thought about a lot of things as your post didn't have a lot of info:
1- you aren't aware of battery level, leave it for an hour or two connected to the computer to recharge the battery.
2- do you have hTC Sync 3.0 ? You have to have it so the computer can recognize the phone.
3- putting it to the bootloader mode and nothing appearing on the screen makes me a bit worried.
Let us know how things will go !!!

1 - Full Charged, at least charging light now is green (was orange before, like in other HTC's)
2 - Yes, i also have ADB drivers installed, but nothing appears with cmd "adb devices"
3 - I don't know if is rooted, or has USB debugging on.
Best thing to do is use xtc clip, create gold card etc and flash the Rom.

I've found the problem. Looks like screen backlight is working fine, but no info is coming to it. I know because when i press touch buttons they vibrate, and vol buttons sounds when i press. So, do you know where can i get a cheap LCD screen replacement in EU?
Thx in advance
How about trying to find out who is its real owner and return it to him or her?
Can you feel confortable using something you know it is not yours?
Just an idea to make a better world.

tottaly agreed. just think when you lost yourself your HH..
It would be a nice idea, but my friend found it without SIM or microSD and can't get it work, so if you have any idea about how to find the owner, I'm listening.

After getting an LCD replacement and booting it up properly you could check the accounts & sync settings to see the Google account they used with the phone. That way you can maybe contact them. Contacts are also saved on phone memory, so you could have a look there.
If you did find the owner then you could charge him a little extra for finding and repairing it.
need the solution
I have the exact same problem with my HTC Wildfire S.
So what did you do with that phone?

[Q] htc desire hd qhsusb load_error on Nik Project Rom 1.6

I searched whole day in this forum about same problem with me, the mosly answer only to bring your phone to your carrier, and you will get new one. [Q] Wildfire S screen sometimes refuses to turn on (Standard ROM)

Hi guys I wonder if you can help me. My friend broke his Wildfire S screen and asked me if I could fix it. I got a new glass / digitiser from eBay and replaced the screen. All look fine to me so I took it back to him.
It seems since replacing the screen the phone sometimes refuses to wake up when clicking the lock button, or when an inbound call arrives. The phone rings but there is no sign of life other than the ringing noise. If you then plug in the charger the screen will turn on and you can use the phone as normal. I've tried a factory reset on it but nothing seems to help.
I haven't replaced the LCD just the glass/digitiser, and can't think of a reason in doing so would break other functions of the phone. Can anyone help or suggest what might be the problem here? I'm a competent repairer and have replaced the screens on many Laptops, iPhone's and iPad's but this is my first encounter with a HTC.
I believe it is a stock ROM branded O2 - Details from the phone are ...
Android Version - 2.3.5
HTC Sense Version - 2.1
Software Number - 2.26.206.1
Kind Regards

i have a similar problem,
I have replaced the digitizer but the phone doesnt start. I press the lock buttom and the phone vibrates, but the screen is black, nothing apears...
What can i do?
I would like to know...
I've no idea been trying for ages, I'd like to try a newer ROM but can't get the phone in to S-OFF.
I've done the whole HTC Dev thing and unlocked the boot loader etc, but can't find a stock rom / RUU that will flash to it.
And here's me thinking this site was going to be helpful and full of people who knew what they were talking about!

I resolved this changing the screen lcd panel

Screen not responding for unknown reason.

So I've searched here AND the entire net for a fix for this but I cannot find it anywhere. I'm decently experienced in the area of androids, flashing, and rooting and currently own a rooted Moto G Play running a debloated stock rom with Xposed installed as my main device (besides the point but just so you know my level of experience.)
I was recently given a HTC Desire 526 and was told by the giver that she couldn't turn it on. So obviously my first thought was to try to enter bootloader mode. I charged the device and held the volume up and power keys to enter bootloader, and it was successful, but still no image on the screen, mind you there is zero visible damage on the phone screen or water damage on the inside so I'm guessing it can't be that the screen is broken physically. I confirmed that it was in bootloader by running fastboot and it is listed under devices when I run "fastboot devices." Vibration works and it occasionally outputs sound so I know the phone turns on (at least). I'm completely new to HTC devices and when i try to do almost anything involving flashing with fastboot I get the s-on error. Adb isn't available as I know that developer options, and furthermore, usb debugging has not been enabled on this device at all in the past.
Can I hard reset with just hardware keys (vol up, vol down, and power)? Everything online says yes and then the instructions go on to explain how to reset via the on screen bootloader menu navigation, that of which I can't see nor navigate with a black screen (I know these "solutions" to this problem make no sense considering I asked about a device with a screen that won't turn on, very frustrating haha.) If not, does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to get the screen to work? Not sure if this matters but it is a verizon phone. Any info is appreciated as I'm coming to my last leg trying to get this going. So annoying feeling it vibrate and hearing sounds because I feel like it is definitely fixable without replacing the screen but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks.
Edit: My only solution is to see if someone who owns this device (currently I know no one with this device) can direct me on what to push, when, to reset without my screen, so I can navigate through that phone or through pictures of it.
This post can be deleted. Still don't know the cause but it turned on and all is well now. Now I'm just searching for a proper root method!
