Easily Hashcode's most recent ICS ROM with the 3.0 Kernel.
Seriously, it's ICS with working hardware acceleration, what could be better?

Hashcode cm9 with latest kernel 3 v.7 patch would be the best rom as of this very moment the best way to go, as for their built in kernel has a fast development I ever seen, contributors like intersectraven and other developers have put their minds together making it an Einstein brain made into one....bravo!!

Here is a link to the 22nd v7 Build, this is a full rom not just the kernel.

Does hashcode's ROM have GAPPS/Market baked in?

You could try BiteBlaze's Reloaded rom... It's a pretty sweet ICS ROM

Here is Hashcodes latest ROM:
http://rombot.droidhive.com/ROMs/otter/cm9/cm9-kfire-3.0-hashcode-04-28.zip
Here are the GApps needed for it:
GApps: http://goo.im/gapps (4/29 is the latest in the CM9 row)
The Kindle Fire Development Thread will be updated shortly with links to all of these anyway.

Currently I'm using the Energy ROM with Hashcode's 3.0 kernel. It's awesome so far and the only issue I've run into is the wifi sometimes randomly disconnects. Everything is smooth and works well other than that.
I had the wifi problem with gedeROM too but it's a lot less annoying with the Energy rom.

The best ICS CM9 rom and my favorite right now is: Energy.4.29.2012.Kindle.Fire.CM9.ICS
The most stable rom is on CM7:
update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-blaze-KANG-20120308-signed-0.1

This ROM is a Chulada!, the trouble with this ROM (updated May-2012) is not working to connect to an ad hoc network. see the network but when connecting.. the signal is reduced to its lowest level (I tried a couple of inches from my laptop) and although it connects using the static ip does not allow Internet access due to the low level of signal. The battery indicator is something that has no relevance. THANK anyway HashCode! YOU ARE AN IDOL! Keep it up!

I find that the best ROM to date is Glazed ICS. wifi is speedy and consistent. I cannot report on games, as I only have basic ones. I use my kindle to create documents and print, as well as internet. Naturally, I read books. Glazed ICS places most of the cusrtomizations in settings, and there are other goodies that may be flashed without changing the entire ROM.
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704132

in my experience, gedeROM v1.65 is the best one yet.
ICS is definately slow in KF, the linaro build makes it a lot smoother.

it doesn't make any sense to put on a CM7 ROM right now as the CM9 ROM's are pretty stable & of course ICS is way better for tablets.
I personally use CM9 based on SGT7 framework by twa_priv
u can see it's thread here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682567

AOKP is a great rom!
It is a great daily driver as is, but what the killer for me was that some apps don't run properly. I could live without a few but Temple Run and Instagram were two that didn't work for me with this rom. That was a deal breaker for me.
If those apps don't interest you than this rom is great!
Good Luck!

yeah I have not ran into any problem apps....yet.... So far this is running great!! only problem is the camera it is not working is there a flashable fix or is there nothing that can be done besides get a new rom?
Yeah AOKP is nice and smooth, the camera preview isn't working as it should, but very stable overall. And if you want to get into kernels, I recommend checking you the mason .14 kernel. it's a Work In Progress but it has been very stable for me, and you gotta love sbc.

Mason G is for gb and non hardware accelerated roms. As of build 30 AOKP has full hardware acceleration

I agree with most on here that AOKP build 31 is pretty stable. I'm running .14 mason sbc fso hwa kernel as well, fairly smooth.
I do have a side question though. Has anyone tried the above settings with a specific governor and found it to work very well?
I have tried savagedzen, on demand, and lionheart........but I always seem to revert back to smartass V2. Still looking for that perfect tweaks on all levels but cant seem to find it. I also applied all COD tweaks.

Build 31 fixes that. In addition, to AOKP being so 'great' it plays nice, but for a lot of users, myself included, it gave a lot of random reboots for no reason, so just be warned / watch your phone to see if you get reboots.

I keep going back and forth between decks ics pb18 (most current) and aokp build 31
Decks seems to be very smooth, running tiamat sbc "lee" kernel. Problem with decks is it less feature-packed then aokp.
Aokp is also very smooth with a ton of great features, but even running mason sbc hwa fso kernel, its seems to be just a little bit slower than decks.
I'm going to try flashing the tiamat "lee" kernel on aokp b31 and see what response I get out of it.
If you are looking for features and stability: aokp, speed and stability: decks
UPDATE: flashed tiamat "LEE" kernel with aokp build 31 last night and although it works OK, there is some lag and some delay when opening apps, app drawer, etc. I will go back to Mason sbc hwa fso for this ROM. Tiamat seems best on decks pb18 which I also run.
I think speed will come with time on AOKP. Can someone expand on the COD tweaks (what they do, how to, goods and bads)

Thanks for the suggestion but it did not work I opened it up and it showed the controls at the bottom like normal but (not sure how to describe this) I could not see what the camera was seeing it just showed black. I took a picture and it showed down in the preview what should have been displayed on the screen.
Hope you guys can understand that

[UPDATE]MIUIgb 2.4.6

I noticed that the MIUIgb version hadn't been updated in a while, so I decided to give it a nice update.
Credits
All credits of course go to the MIUI team specifically 0xD34D (lithium76) and leeech. They are part of the MIUI team and are the main ones involved in this product.
Don't have screenshots at the moment, so I can't get you a teaser, sorry. I did this at the beginning of the month and just now decided to release it.
Sorry but I won't regularly update this as much.. it is probably not going to get much anyways. Lol.

lots of force closes on homescreen. unable to type anything, rom assigned mac address? Considering the ics based miui port by lithium76
Looks good but when I flashed it I didn't have a nav bar and the notification at the top was messed up. Besides that touch seemed unresponsive at times. Good news is it boots and looks nice besides those minor issues I found tho it could just be my tab who knows.

That depends on what you're looking for. If you want to keep the amazon UI then Modaco is the way to go. If you're wanting more of an AOSP feel then GedeROM, AOKP, or Jandycane are all great options. GedeROM is based off of CM9, I believe. AOKP is it's own animal but it is based off of Ice Cream Sandwich source I believe and Jandycane is based off of Jellybean Source. Modaco probably has the best battery life out of them all but obviously is pretty much standard amazon. It is deodexed and optimized and rooted though without the worry of OTA updates messing with your root permissions. The biggest selling point for AOKP in my opinion is customization options. You can even change the soft keys to something you are more comfortable with on AOKP. GedeROM is a very stable CM9 and also has plenty of customization options that come with cyanogenmod. Jandycane as I said is based on Jellybean and it is buttery as they come. Right now my kindle is running Jandycane 1.4, soon to be 1.5 when I find time to update it. Battery life is a little sorry though but I am sure in time it will improve as lithium comes up with more fixes.
Yeah, it does depend on what you want. These are the ROMs I recommend. I have used them all and they all will work fine.
Jellybean/CM10 ROMs: CM10 SGT7 ROM, Hashcode's ROM(AOSP)
ICS/CM9 ROMs: gedeROM, SGT7 ROM, Glazed ICS
CM7: Barebones CM7
I was using GedeROM ... very stable IceCreamSandwich rom.
I just switched to JandyCane .. its Jellybean. I'm not sure what's missing .. it's also nice.
Stick with gedeRom if this is your first forray into Kindle Android. Then when you're comfortable .. look around.

Difference in JB ROMs

So I flashed Hash's new CM 10 Rom/kernal, and I'm really liking the upgrade from ICS. The interface is a nice upgrade, and it runs smooth. I was looking in the Jandycane thread today and it looks like the interface/UI is more like that of what was on Hash's ICS rom. I think I am understanding it correctly that Hash's new JB rom is running the phone UI, and on the Jandycane rom its the tablet UI? Am I reading correctly?
I haven't decided which I like more on the Kindle, but I do like a change from the ICS, at least for now. Might have to check out Jandy though if that is the actual tablet UI, which would essentially be "better" for the kindle.
Just trying to make sure I'm reading it all correctly. I'm way behind on the threads and can't read all 200+ pages on the Roms. Thanks,
Sorry meant it in Q&A...
The jandycane ROM is the only ROM so far that seems to really be true tablet ui. I have been running it for a couple weeks now and really loving it
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda app-developers app
Yup, I've been running jandycane for about a week and it's very stable. The fact that it's designed for a tablet really helps. Access to volume and brightness in the notification menu really sets it apart on the kindle. The only thing I have found that doesn't run is the YouVersion Bible app.

Jandycane is alright but I stick with twa_priv's CM10 ROM with Linaro enhancements. It comes with the phone UI stock but it's easy to force the tablet UI. It also has the volume and brightness controls in the notification menu and seems to have more options than Jandycane, but it's all personal preference when it comes down to it. The battery life running JB ROMs seems to be = > stock Amazon.
p.s. I tested the Youversion Bible app on twa_priv's CM10 ROM and it runs fine

Hi guys and a wanna no what you think is The best rom

I am currently using the test build of CM7 with ics layouts and is enough for me till MMB Team releases their next AOSP ICS build
cyantux rom is awesome just try it
AOKP milestone 6 CM9 based is what i used daily now. only a few bugs, never had a random reboot till now.
I am currently developing a stock based ROM (pretty much just tweaking the stock ROM but also changing some interface elements). If you're talking 'nicest' as in best interface, mine won't do (I am doing a Gingerbread X Jellybean X Other style interface). But it is suprisingly fast. If you're interested about my upcoming ROM, you can inbox me a message and I can let you in on some details!
I just tried 1 rom previously (LightOrange), but now I have been testing the official cyanmobile 2.3.8 (build 4) and I am loving it. Satellite fixing is ultra fast, you can customize almost everything, it comes with many choices of unlock screens and call answering interfaces. Smart calling is awesome (if you're messaging someone, or have one of your contacts on screen, just put the phone to your ear and it calls automatically). It comes with an integrated option to force move to SD card. I flashed int2ext4+ script and now I have a "huge" internal memory (1Gb ext4 partition + internal). Together with Adrenaline Engine and chainfire 3D (both not included), this is the best performance I had so far.
There are also some other good ROMs. I heard democracy NT is great. S'periance, Adrenaline ROM, M'Rage. It's a matter of personal choice in the end. Never tried CM9 or CM10, but I think most roms are more unstable or lacking functions and the performance gain, if any, is not that big (correct me if I'm wrong, though ).
I tink best (only bad thing battery goes fast down) rom is cm 10.1 by Old Droid + TouchWiz 4.5 theme from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062676
Gapps from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167627
And theme from google play
Some pics:
Get Equipped With MEGAMAN
the kitheirp
For me the best roms are:
Stock= M'rage Rom what can I say? This rom has everything ! I dont like the orange but still is the best Stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136550
CM7= JellyBread unfortunately its descontinued now, but you can mix the version 2.5 with 3 and have a GREAT rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991020
MIUI= MIUI Gingerbread of Franklin its the only miui that is bugless, if you search the rights themes your phone gonna look beautiful, is not multilanguage, but if you are smart enough (in galaxy ace forum) theres a one that it is, and you can solve the problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863260&highlight=miui
i would also say it's MIUI by Franklin, it has cool UI, also good for gaming unlike the cm10 roms, it has large consumption of RAM so it's not suitable for gaming.
i think aosp is the most stable...that's why i chose aosp ics by MMB
AOKP jb-mr1 by erikcas super smoth and fast no big problems
