Hey all,
I'm looking for the standard 1850mah battery for the Nexus. I do realize that the battery included with the phone has the NFC chip in it. I've been checking eBay and this is the part number that I'm getting for this particular battery:
EB-L1D7IVZBSTD
The picture with that listing shows the battery with Near Field Comm. on it. I've also seen listings with the SAME part number, but without the NFC label on the battery.
Do those batteries have different part numbers?
Thanks!

I am looking for an app our another way to test the mah rating of my battery. Its an extended battery I got from ebay. I have seen the battery boss page but my battery isn't on it. I have a volt meter and a lipo battery charger If that could be useful. This battery seems more like 2000mah instead of the 3000mah its advertised as.
im looking for some myself
i've heard people talk of r/c chargers and the like, but have yet to come across some to display the info these guys are talking about... i.e. like having an lcd on the charger to display how many cycles, and how many mah are put back in, etc etc
I just received the battery i ordered from Korea. Its an origial samsung battery but on the battery there are wordings on on it "Near Field Communication" does this mean the NFC chip is in the batt???
no, the battery with nfc is simply part of the antenna for korean models of the s2 with an nfc chip. i believe there is an extra metal contact point on the battery you ordered to join the antenna inside the battery with the nfc chip. i may be wrong though
I have that battery and no, it does not give your phone NFC.
Has anyone tried this battery yet?
2300mah battery from Ebay
Do the GSM and CDMA version both use the same size battery? Would this one be a universal replacement?
Its 2350, and doesn't say anything about NFC.
Also wouldn't it need a new back plate?
And no the LTE and GSM versions use a different battery shape completely. Not interchangable =/
don't trust no-name battery capacity claims.
with the same battery tech, capacity will be basically a function of volume... so if it fits in the galaxy nexus, with the current cover... it's the same volume... so my guess is this is the same or less capacity in reality.
its possible its a more advanced battery technology, but for $6 on ebay , doubt it.
Do the GN batteries need to have an antenna for the NFC or is that integrated into the cover?
I don't have my GN yet, ordered from Amazon. Can't wait to get it!

The NFC is integrated in the battery, not the cover
And you don't need to buy a battery with NFC capability, it's not required

This. Some people here act like NFC is required for the phone to function..
Correct me if I am wrong.
The antenna for the NFC is located in the Samsung battery that came with our phone. If we want NFC, we should get a battery that has built-in antenna too.
So, if we get a generic battery off Ebay, we'll lose the NFC function?
I agree, it's not a deal killer, not much you can do with NFC right now.
Hey Folks,
I just wanted to pass on the deal I just found...You can get what looks to be an OEM 1850mAh battery with an external battery charger and an extra wall charger for $28.80 from the link below:

I know there are cheaper 3rd party batteries out there but they tend to under-deliver when it comes to meeting its rated battery capacity. I also wonder the effects of having a battery rotation of batteries with different capacities (from different manufacturers) on the battery stats within the software.
EDIT - THIS IS FOR THE VERIZON VERSION ONLY. Sorry to get your hopes up GSMer's.
Very good! but its only for the Verizon version

Sorry about that. I updated the OP to reflect it's for the Verizon version.
More than one battery with the Galaxy Nexus
Just ordered one of these, but then found this info coming from Verizon:
"Customers attempting to use more than one battery with the Galaxy Nexus may have less than an optimal experience since the NFC chip within the battery must register a token between the device and the battery each time the battery is swapped."
I guess it is better just to use one of these 2100mAh extended batteries Verizon is selling along with cover.

Interesting...I'm not using NFC for anything so I'm not sure I care but I wonder if the consequences are limited to a slightly longer boot process after a battery swap.

I vote CRAP, the battery has the NFC antenna in it. The NFC chip is in the phone.
Verizon has a sale on spare 1850 batteries for $19.99 right now. Plus they are selling the item in the OP for $39.99. If I am wrong please correct me.
I'm thinking about ordering the Anker 3000mAh Li-ion Battery, but I'm also considering getting (preferably) the, Perfine 3000mAh OEM Li-ion Battery, because they both have IC Chips but,
the Perfine has IC Chip states it has all these features; "prevents short circuiting, overcharging, overheating and lengthens battery life"
the Anker IC Chip only states its features; "prevents overcharging & prevent short-circuiting"
BUT in the Perfine info at Amazon it says -Without NFC functionality.
AND I have My LG G3 which has the OEM cover, with NFC(/GPS?) parts embedded into the back.
So my questions are this;
1.)I thought I read somewhere that as well as the NFC on the original LG G3 Cover had some sort of WIFI antenna/parts or something...Is this true?
1.)Do all IC Battery Chips have all the same great features, and they just didn't state all the features on their Amazon page? Or Does the Perfine IC Battery Chip really have more IC features?
2.)My LG G3 has the OEM cover,"GPS"/NFC parts embedded into the back. Do I need a NFC/"GPS" battery for NFC/"GPS" to work? Or will my cover be all I need?
3.)If my OEM Cover is all I need will my "GPS"/NFC take a performance hit?

1) The NFC antenna is on the Back cover. You'll notice two conductive squares that looks like gold, those touch two pins on the phone to interface with NFC. There are two pins below it for wireless charging. The Perfine battery looks functionality the same as the two official G3 batteries I have, that is the top side up is smooth and nothing that interacts with the back cover. So I would expect NFC to still work because it shouldn't have anything to do with the battery.
1.2) They probably don't. Since G3 batteries are removable, they also have a fuel gauge as part of the IC, that's how the battery life is accurate when you switch out batteries. For me personality that's just fluff, I would expect the battery IC to be standard for removable batteries.
2) The GPS antenna is on the phone itself, below the white covers that have device codenames on them like VS985. So you only need the cover.
3) I don't see why it would unless the back cover is damaged on the back side.
Though your answer where a bit vague, thank you for commenting! You helped put things into perspective. The reason I need a new battery in the first place is because of the damned infamous overheating perpetual reboot. An I didn't want to buy a battery with no NFC as I use Android Pay a lot & seemed like a feature along the lines of bluetooth in importance in my mind and would be a waste not to utilize it.
For those with the same issue I recently went to Fry's Electronics and they let me swap batteries for a couple minutes. Before it wouldn't even reach the T-Mobile screen but when I put the generic battery in it was working like new. Quite fast I might add.
