[Q] Build Quality and serial numbers - HTC One X

Yeah i know there is a build quality thread but one thing has caught my eye from the posts on Facebook and the posts on here.
My One X serial number starts HT23 and i have none of the problems that most users are describing. A quick search of this forum shows at least one other HT23 user claiming no issues and on the HTC FB page there a few more.
In contrast there seems to be a lot of users with serial numbers HT24 that do have problems....
Both are obviously made in Taiwan but i wondered if there could be a link and are HT23's generally more fault free.
So what is your serial and do you have problems.
Of course it could all be coincidence so far but could be interesting to know for sure....

poll wont do
HT23PW made in Taiwan, white, no defects, obvious screen flex/creaking which went away on pressure, software glitches present, warm screen, no LCD ripple
HT242PW made in Taiwan, grey, no defects, minimal screen flex which went away on pressure, software glitches present, warmer/less bright screen, LCD ripple when pressed hard on the edges

Hi,
My phone (HT23) gets very warm after 20 mins play of Glowball. The battery temp gets to around 56 Deg C, at this point I stop playing and the battery state is "overheat".
Spongy power button.
Ripple effect when lightly touching the sides of the screen.

Hello,
My HT23 gets very hot (+50'C) when driving using maps navigation and bluetooth.
Don't mind it so much because my rooted HD2 Android 4.0.4 also did

HT23VW, grey, Made in Taiwan. Glitches.

I had an HT23 white. Screen flex and heat issues. Replaced it with an HT24 white. Much less heat and no screen flex but I do get the screen ripple effect if I press on the screen hard. I dont press on the screen hard though so keeping it I think.

HT23FW one dead pixel otherwise perfect..made in Taiwan..

How do I know if One X is from Taiwan or China (mine is a HT23) ?

Agreed really.
I just wanted to see if there really was a link between the serial's and if some were better than others and then we could see if there were specific issues with specific models or if it was generally all of them (which is starting to look the case) lol
Mine's HT23WW with no issues just for the record.

Moved, use proper section

Plus all serials HT are Taiwan, SH are all Chinese.

According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642459 the serial numbers can be decoded in the following way:
XXYMDAABBBBB
XX = Manufacturing location
SZ = Shenzhen, China
SH = Shanghai, China
HT = Hsinchu, Taiwan
CH = Wuhan, China
Y = Year (2 = 2012)
M = Month (hex 1...C = 1 - 12 months)
D = Day (hex 1...9A..Z = 1 - 31 days)
AA = Part Code
BBBBB : Identification Number (decimal)
It looks like the One X has a part code of W1.
My One X is HT23NW1xxxxx which means it is an One X made in Hsinchu, Taiwan on 23/03/12

Question;
I dont understand how to read the manufacturingday in the serial.
Can someome maybe explain it to me?
If i read this part of the qoute above:
D = Day (hex 1...9A..Z = 1 - 31 days)
Then i count more then 31 days?
if day one =1
and day nine =9
and day ten = A
Then Z would be?
day 35?
As an example:
Somebody wrote this serial in some topic over here:
HT23XW103489
In the way i understand it now, that says its a HTC one X, made the 33th-march-2012 in Hsinchu, Taiwan?
That doesnt make sense right?
So what am i reading wrong here?

*shrug* Try it on your serial number. That other serial number either has a typo or the method for decoding the serial number is missing something. Not sure what you're trying to ask for here as I don't have any secret HTC information regarding this.

When I purchased mine. i went through 7 phones in store to find a good one.
all had yellow spots on the screen and 3 also had at least 1 dead pixel.
All were HT23, including the one I have now which is issue free.

SH23RW here with zero problems.
White screen without yellowing, no creaks,flex or blemishes and my only complaint is a random crash and reboot but that's expected on a newly released phone with latest software.
Very happy with it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

SH23 here for SEAsia, no software, hardware problems but yellow screen
no complain

Any suggestions on which Serial Number is better? I'm looking at getting an One X and it has a SH23 number should I go ahead and get or just wait?

There's another sticker written made in China with 2 other 10-digits codes
mine is L59AQL2DP6....
Mine: china, gen 2011. To me it look like green lense.
Any use of this? I have a sticker on my phone package with same info...
Mine:
Place: "N" (so, I don't know where it has been made - but read below)
Year: 2011
Month April (1st half)
Bayer camera (red lens)
Since another sticker in my phone shows "made in Brazil", I'll assume that N means it has been made in Brasil, obviously. Plus, it looks like "A" means it has been made in India (since 3 indian guys said above that their phone has an "A" as fourth digit).
And, since there is no official word about the difference between SOC and Bayer camera modules (A.K.A., respectively, green and red lens), we could use this info to define precisely when the phones with the new camera started being made. Not sure about how this info could be useful, anyways (it's easier to look on the color of the lens - even though it does NOT define what module the camera has -, or to use logcat D:LibCameraCommon then open the camera app to find out the module - this method is 100% precise, and can state that phones with green lens CAN be 720p-and-official-gingerbread-capable, and that phones with red lens CAN have an old module, and so be 720p-and-official-gingerbread-incapable).

[Q] regional differences of the HTC one X

Hi,
I want to buy a HTC one X and I heard there are differences of the software and hardware (even quality) if you buy it in different countries . I have the chance to buy a European Version or an HongKong Version ...... Does anybody know the differences? and which one is better?
Thanks for your Help!
PS.: Rogers & AT&T I know ....
They are made in two factories Taiwan and Shanghai, but there doesn't seem to be anything we can correlate to that.
I don't suppose you'll notice a difference, unless you want to input Cantonese. The firmware updates have been slower to arrive in Hong Kong.
Hi,
I'm in Australia, I purchased my grey HOX mid May from online store Kogan. It came from HK, it's a HT24DW and have no quality issues come up. I also has FW 1.29.751.12. I'm mostly happy with it so far as I came from 3 years of iPhone.
Cheers
Thanks 4 helping. And whats the difference between Shanghai and Taiwan Version?

Thanks
Where Im from, we get the HT version and so far a high percentage of it has defects, not too sure bout the SH version thou. On a side note, European versions get updates faster compared to the SEA region.

Take your pakage, and somewhere on the sticker on it should stay "Maide in Taiwan" or "Made in China"
Or if your serial number starts with "HT" (for example HT23NW.........) then it is maid in Taiwan ...

the only difference is the price the HT price is higher than HS about 45$ but they r the same no diff. at all i have HS and yesterday i did OTA update it's been better rosie lag fixed and restored 5 giga now its cool the camera is amazing no sense loops the sense become ultra smooth too
Edit >> there's a difference in the phone case the HT came with a white small case " plastic" but the other "HS" came with a slim box package " hard paper "...
SH Vs HT No difference except....
We have three phones 2 HT series and 1 SH. The button light on SH one is much brighter. Does that mean anything

Manufacture date solution.

hi everyone, I think I found out how to see what manufacturing date you have. I found it in the HTC One S thread. You have to take a look at the Serial Number on your box, starting with S/N. The first four digits are the relevant ones. I have a HT23TTV00312. Like I said, the first four digits. In my case: HT23.
The number 3 means that it's the third month of the year, meaning March. I got this phone replaced for my old One V, that one had:HT24, meaning April. I regret that I sent my April One V back because the March version is even worse, gonna send this one back as well.
People over at the One S thread say this method of seeing the manufacturing date is 90% correct. So can you guys verify this? Do any of you have: HT25, meaning the month may?, I wonder if the may phones have problems like yellow spots.
Thanks!
I'm not sure bout my actual manufacture date but mine is HT23, not much problem except the rubber area gets extremely dark in colour after some use....
I've got HT23 and there is dust under my display and the headphone sound is terrible.
This would mean I already have the march version so it can't get much worse when I'll send it back

I have HT24 which is April and I have problems with the following:
-Speaker (I hear a *poc* sound now and then when in a call).
- Too spots of yellow color in the lower part of the screen
- Light leak from the buttons
- Incorrect placement of the back cover of the camera.
Tomorrow I will get my replacement hopefully it will be one made in may.

Well, I thought that it was march, but it was April. And I've replaced my phone with one from May and I have no problems (it is also imported from Asia). The only problem remaining now is that I cannot use one specific carrier because it is locked. I can use only Vodafone and Cosmote and I need Orange carrier!

The two first letters indicate what factory the phone has been made in. It's either HT or SH for production units, or MB for repair centre swap units.
First: HT24 - yellow spots
Second: HT23 - yellow spots
Third: (guy in service center give me to choice from 4 pieces of them) SH25 - no problems.
HT mean manufacture in Taiwan, SH manufacture in China.
My is HT25, except some really small light leak from the buttons I don't have any problems with it.

HTC10 Screen Problem.Is this hardware or software related?

Hey guys.I'm new here and I'm a HTC10 user for the first time.Before this phone I used LG Nexus4 and P970.
I'm loving this device so far.The device is with me for 7-8 months.But last month it snowed here in Turkey and I was on my way to basketball match at night in the Arena.I saw this issue for first time at that night.Thought it's about cold weather(because it's metal body?).BTW I've got a Spigen's 2 pieced case.
Also this device has been already RMAd once because of screen popped out(glue was not strong enough I guess).
But this month I'm seeing it almost everyday.When I touch screen with a little pressure it's going away for a second and comes back or not(it's just random sometimes).Sometimes I can't even take photo because of randomness of this issue.Also there's a little white dot in the bottom right corner of screen.It appears at white backgrounds and it's brighter than other areas.This is also an issue for me.
Tomorrow I'll RMA my phone to local service in here.
Just wanted to let you guys now about this and ask what it is all about?
It was my first subject in the forums.So sorry if I'm on the wrong place and sorry about my english.It's just not that good

It has a lot of display problem. HTC 10 is flawed
Today I got the call from repair service.They said my device is repaired.Here's what's changed:
-Motherboard(New IMEI)
-Cpu (Dunno why)
-Lcd screen (From Sharp to Tianma)
Everything is perfect for now.Happy to get back on my musics with this phone and Hd598Cs. :highfive:
There's one thing I noticed because I used both LCD screens from Sharp and Tianma.
Sharp had a shadows(kinda look like it) on the side of panel.And Tianma has a yellow tint at bottom side of screen.Some guys said that It's glue and will go in time

Yeah I'm happy with the way of solution.
Because someguy in here(Turkey),got a swap report and waited for a new device about 3 months.Because our services gather all devices in together once in month and at that time there was no swap unit for the guy.So he just waited,waited and waited...
But here's the thing,if you're going to change mobo,cpu and LCD;why don't you just swap? Only things that aren't repaired probably the camera,speakers,antennas etc.

Released in April, I got mine on release day, could be a faulty batch. As you can't really communicate with htc directly (as in the tech who'll be looking at the phone) you have very little sway over what they do next.
It'd be interesting to see if they share notes with each other based on your case file, perhaps talking with them directly they can agree that a like for like replacement would be the most viable option moving forward. If not I'd say insurance would be the only other option, besides third party but at this point a patch up wouldn't fill me with confidence.
Sorry mate, not a lot more I can think of.

Well there's difference between UK Customer Services or HTC UK and HTC Turkey.For example: HTC Turkey says "You can replace it or get a reserve phone while yours is getting repaired,bla bla. But services say they'll give it to you if yours is not repaired after 10 work-days.Also HTC Turkey is not good at marketing,production or customer services.Some guys waited 3-6 months for replacement unit.
I'm using the same device but first time screen popped out from bottom left and changed.Also back button light was very dim than the other one.Then there was this screen problems at imgur album appeared,showed line like artifacts and white dot at bottom right(That's white dot is also common in a lot of users).Screen,mobo and CPU changed but still with the same metal body(I know it because there's a tiny dent at the body).

Hi...
Had an HTC a few years ago... Someone made a thread about it in the M7 forum. Considering it is still accurate (hopefully it is), you can find your manufacturing date with your serial number.
Mine starts with:
HT69M...
HT = Where it's been built (HTC Hsinchu, Taiwan)
6 = Year of production (2016)
9 = Month of production (September)
M = Day of production (21)
So mine should be: 9.16.2016
Just found the thread, here it is:

Hi...
Had an HTC a few years ago... Someone made a thread about it in the M7 forum. Considering it is still accurate (hopefully it is), you can find your manufacturing date with your serial number.
Mine starts with:
HT69M...

Hi... Yes, you can find it either in phone status or in bootloader.
Your manufacturing date:
11.21.2016 (Nov.21.2016) in Taiwan according to the thread I linked before...

Wow. Thanks. I tried but I couldn't solve the riddle. Lol. Since it was manufactured before January I hope I don't run into any microphone troubles. I bought it off eBay for a good deal. The thing still looks new. Everything is good as of now. Fingers crossed.

How about HT6AD?
Hi. I just bought a brand new (at least I think It's brand new) Google Pixel 128GB (G2-PW4100) from a well known online store here in Norway. The phone wasn't listed as refurbished or anything like that, but it was a bit suspicious that a) the phone didn't come with the original wall charger, instead it came with some chinese charger with an EU plug (wouldn't it make more sense if they just had included an EU adapter together with the original charger instead?), and b) the phone came preloaded with Android Oreo (version 8.0.0, not 8.1) out of the box? My serial number is FA76X, so can anyone tell me when my phone was manufactured? June 2017? ps. I am able to unlock my bootloader (OEM unlocking option in developer options is NOT greyed out). Thanks.
