flash a non a2dp earpiece? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there a way to flash a non a2dp earpiece (plantronics 240 explorer to be exact) with something that will make it play music as well as answer calls. would love to hear my music throughout the day. i have searched everywhere and super BT mono was the closest thing but it didnt work.
thanks

What do you mean by "flash" a bluetooth device?
As far as I know, both the phone and headset need to support a2dp to stream music.

yeah, like a firmware update to the earpiece or something like that. my earpiece does not support a2dp and was trying to figure out a way to make it.

That's not possible. You just need to buy a new headset that supports a2dp.

thats what i was afraid of, I found these guys that do support it. at&t has them for like 90 bucks but they are 30 here. just in case someone else is lookin.

thanks for the help

The only way it would be upgradeable is if you go to the support section for your specific headset and they have a firmware update that has a2dp if the device can support it

Route BT Audio with WM6 XDA Live?

I have tried about 4 different programs that used to work with WM5, but nothing routes the audio properly. Is this a known issue? I read through most of the WM6 threads and saw a lot about VC 1.6, but nothing about this specifically. I like to route mono sound to my bluetooth to listen to music while i work, but now, I load up any bluetooth routing program and my headset beeps like it used to, but the sound still plays out of the speakers. Any help?
Have you tried using Bluemusic http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=bluemusic.
I installed the demo, removed the today plugin and now when I press the button on my bluetooth headset (Jabra JX10) all audio and mic is routed to the headset until I press the button again. I've used it on Skype, and for listening to music.
the only thing you need is to install the widcomm/broadcom bluetooth stack and it will work like a charm!!
and, the soundquality will be MUCH better!

Worx like a charm for me.
Of course to the extent of how crappy s/w running on a crappy h/w can :-(
can someone explain to me on this issue how it works that on certain devices i guess that are designed for hands-free talking only route audio from a phone call rather than all audio as with for example bluetooth speakers one can find. i'm in the market for some bluetooth speakers for my car and i'm wondering how some of these speaker phone devices may work but i gotta understand how these things work first. thanks. feel free to get technical with me. use high-tech achronyms and such. i wanna learn.

main ones u need to look at are a2dp and hsp
thanks a lot.
I know you're supposed to make this change in a RegEdit program, but what is this VJVolubilis.exe -agon part about. Is that a program we're supposed to download?

A2DP Audio routing problems

Well, being that this is my first post, I would first like to say that this site and forums are top notch, I have had my 8525 for about a month now and have learned an immense amount of knowledge in a short amount of time thanks to you guys. Now for my problem...
I have my 8525 running Black Magik, radio 1.43.00 and have recently purchased a pair of Sony DR-BT21G A2DP stereo headphones. Now I was a bit weary about buying these since I have seen no mention of them on these forums... buy anyways. When I first paired the devices together I was able to listen to music without problem, though sound needed to be tweaked. After trolling for quite some time through the forums (yes, the search feature works great) I found what appeared to be the best A2DP setting for audio quality, and now after playing with every possibility cannot get music routed to the headset, phone calls work without a hitch. I have downloaded BTAudio to route all system sounds to the headset but It doesn't seem to work. I toggle BTAudio on and I can hear slight static through the phones but the audio still comes out through the system speaker. I have played with A2DP settings in both pimp my black and HTweakC but have not had any success. I am planning on reflashing Majik tonight to attempt to set it up from scratch, but I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on this issue? Thanks in advance.

Delete the pairing. SR. Re-pair. Should do hte trick. Better yet - for the most stable ROM and A2DP tweaked for the best sound "out of the box" - reflash with Sleuth255 variant of LVSW ROM.
How exactly can I delete the pair? I can repair the device but have not seen an option to remove it?
To toggle Audio to A2DP you might want to see:

There's a description and a link to download the CAB for A2DPToggle plugin too.
Let me know how it works on your hardware.

Playing music over a regular bluetooth headset with the Evo

I searched around, but I didn't find an answer to this specific question. I have an HTC Evo, and a regular Bluetooth headset. I'd like to be able to play music/podcasts/whatnot through the headset.
It works great for phone calls, but once the call is over, it goes back to using the speaker. I'm assuming this has something to do with Bluetooth profiles since I was actually able to play music through Bluetooth in a car I rented a few weeks ago. I had to change the audio setting on the car, so it seems like the Evo can send audio through Bluetooth if it detects a certain profile (A2DP?).
Is there an app that allows me to choose to reroute my audio from the speaker to a regular bluetooth headset that only supports the headset and hands-free profiles? If not, I may need to see how feasible it would be for me to make one.
I have been searching in vane for Android software that would play regular audio through a regular bluetooth ear piece (that is normally used for a phone) rather than the external speaker or audio jack.
If anyone knows of such an animal, please let us know.
I realize what you're asking for, and I'm just going to tell you, odds are it's not going to happen. From what I've heard, the Bluetooth API's are fairly limited, and telling the system to use a BT Profile for something it wasn't meant for (and will sound horrible on, nevermind kill the battery life of your headset) won't be easy.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just not very likely to happen at this time. You'd probably be better off getting a decent pair of BT headphones instead. Sorry.
It won't work. Different protocols. If you get a bluetooth stereo headset that has a mic then it will work with both protocols.
This has been on the top of my list (along with a widget for enabling/disabling background data) since I got my Evo. I used this feature a lot on my Moto Q9C.
But I hadn't been able to find anything until now.
The audio quality isn't great but so far "Super BT Mono Froyo Free" is working well enough. I haven't disconnected my headset yet, so I don't know if it will reboot the phone. But the comments in the marketplace say to use a task killer if it happens.
I'm actually considering getting the full $6 version after the 5 days are up.
I just wish there was a way to make the call button function with the media player instead of starting the voice dialer.
Edit:
Have to change the media volume via settings or when the screen is off to increase music volume.
My jabra bluetooth headset allows this to happen but that bluetooth is meant to stream music through it also.

what about these: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-Motorola-S9-HD-S9HD-Wireless-Stereo-Headphone-/260631900070?pt=Bluetooth_Wireless_Products&hash=item3caedf2fa6
granted, they ship from Hong Kong so you're looking at a good 1-3 weeks for delivery (i got mine in about a week and a half)
But anyways, they work great for me. they answer calls, control track skipping, play/pause and volume. i love 'em.
App Work Around
I had the same issue with my headset. I went to the Android Market and searched. There are multiple apps out there. I got BTmono Free which allows you to play audio over your bluetooth if you pay for the $1 version you get more options. There are a few more other programs out there that do the same thing.
Good luck.
Thanks for the find Abini. d/l'd BTmono and it works like a champ for playing both music and for Netflix on my rooted EVO 2.2

[Q] TP2 to INC...

So I dropped my TP2 the other day, cracking the screen. Called insurance to get it replaced only to find out that they no longer make the TP2 and can't supply me with a replacement.
I was offered what they called, a comparable alternative, the HTC Incredible. I sell phones for Verizon, so I know all about it already. I've just been with WiMo for so long, I feel like I'm making a major adjustment!
My phone is supposed to be delivered on Wednesday the 8th, so I've already been reading as much as I can about the INC and Android in general. One thing I haven't found is the option to play system sounds through non-stereo bluetooth headsets.
On my WiMo devices, I never needed a stereo bluetooth headset to listen to music, either through Slacker or any kind of media player on my phone. WiMo has an option in the Bluetooth settings menu/Advanced options/Audio Hands-free related settings, that lets you turn on system sounds, allowing you to listen to music/media through any bluetooth headset.
Does Android give you this option? This and losing my freaking keyboard with tilt screen is pretty much the main thing giving me grief about switching to the INC.
dinc supports A2DP
So yes as long as your bluetooth device supports A2DP you don't have a problem

That's what I'm saying though. On WiMo, your headset doesn't have to support A2DP to allow you to listen to music. Will Android allow you to do this? I listen to my class lectures through my regular bluetooth headsets that do not support A2DP.

Its possible im wrong but i do not believe it will work without A2DP or headphones. I have a JB icon so for me thats how I had to set it up.

well I hate to say it. but chalk one up for WiMo...still can't wait to get my incredible though.
I also came from a Touch Pro 2 and I had the same reservations as you.
I bought the Incredible because of the screen and I have no regrets at all. I have had mine since they first came out.
I love the Incredible!

Music Over Bluetooth?

I have 2 Bluetooth earphones and neither lets me hear music. Is this possible? Do I need to get an expensive stereo piece? Mine were each around $50. Could anyone recommend a good value one?
TIA.

To stream music the Bluetooth device needs to support the A2DP profile. Most Bluetooth headsets that use for calls don't support this thats probably why its not working. Just look for a stereo headset that support A2DP and you should be in good shape.
best buy has a few nice head sets like this. I use one myself.

Thats just one they have
There is an app called SuperBTMonoFroyoPro (all one word lol) in the market. It costs about 5 or 6 dollars. You can stream music to a non-a2DP headset with that app. The headset acts like it's in a call but the phone transmits music/audio to it instead of calls. You can still receive a call.
