[Q] Using adb with CWM - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After modifying the framework-res.apk, my ARC entered a bootloop, so I want to push the original framework-res.apk back to /system/framework. After entering CWM (v5.0.2.7), I used adb and type "adb devices", but it seems my ARC can not be detected. I'm sure it is not due to the usb cable because I can still enter fastboot mode.
I also tried "mount /system" option in CWM, but it doesn't help Any solutions??? I know it can be solved by flashing a new ROM but then I have to set up the phone again.........

just make a update.zip of ur original framework-res.apk through update.zip maker from ur computer then flah it via cwm...

Thanks! I finally solved the problem by flashing a new zip from the "themes and apps" section in this forum. Not only solving the problem, it makes the theme even more beautiful! Just one more question: where can I find a good tutorial on how to DIY a update.zip which can be flashed by CWM? I have found some tutorial but still don't know how to do it

[Q] Help needed. Stuck on htc bootimage

Hello all. Im kinda new to this thing but with some help of my friend I managed to succesfully downgrade, root and flash a new radio and leedroid 2.2.3 rom to my unbranded DHD. Now after a week the Rom Manager updated my Clockwork mod to 3.0.0.5 and now that I had to boot my phone I'm stuck on htc bootimage. I can still get to recovery and have tried to restore backup but nothing works. I think it is because of the Clockwork mod is on v. 3.0.0.5 and backups are 2.5.1.3. What is there to be done at this point? Can I downgrade CWM somehow or do I need to flash a new ROM that supports CWM 3.x.x.x? Any help is appreciated
hi i had the same problem
but i took my sd card and connected it directly to comp.
I then downloaded and copied over the cm7 update package the went in to recovery and installed from ZIP..
I was then able to at least boot up so i could get into clockwork to do my backup
Download recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-ace.img
MD5 checksum
Place in the sdk folder where your fastboot.exe, adb.exe is located.
Boot your phone into Bootloader FASTBOOT, and connect to pc with USB cable. It will change to FASBOOT USB.
Open CMD and navigate to that folder (cd\program files\android\android-sdk-windows\tools\ on my pc, maybe different on yours)
Type in: fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-ace.img
After done, type: fastboot reboot, disconnect, click on BOOTLOADER / RECOVERY
Back up sdcard first, just in case your backed up recoveries become corrupted, never know.

So I place the both img and checksum to sdk folder? And by booting to fastboot you mean first goin to hboot then selecting the fastboot option on screen?
Yes, Fastboot. Make sure it changed automatically to Fastboot usb when connected to pc.
You don't need to put the md5 txt file in the same folder. It is used to check the the download was not corrupted, use a md5 checker from Google, and if numbers match same as the txt file you download before, all will be good to flash.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The MD5 file seems to be empty :/ Nevermind found the md5.
Now that I tried to flash the img the cmd says that can't find AdbWinUsbApi.dll since the SDK has moved it and adb.exe platform-tools instead of just tools :/
It tells me to update path enviroment but how do I do that?
Thx
Edit2: Thx UpInTheAir for the tips! Got my DHD alive again ! In ROMManager App it still says I have the 3.0.0.5 isntalled. Is this only a bug since I didn't update anything I think :/?

it is not to hard, Download the zip I included which will have ADB, fastboot and drivers.
First step is to extract the files onto the C drive to make it easy.
Next is to plug your phone in and boot into HBOOT, then make sure it is in FASTBOOT. Now your computer should look for the drivers, if it has a hard time finding them, go to Device manger (go to start and type device manger), find your phone, you should see a yellow triangle with a exclamation with it. Tell it to search the folder that is named Android USB driver.
Also put the IMG file of the recovery into the Android ADB and Fastboot folder
Once that is done go into cmd
then type cd: C:/Android ADB and Fastboot
then type fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.5-ace.img
then type fastboot reboot
That should be it, I hope I remembered everything , if you need help, send me a message
I'll give it a try when I'm back home. Thanks to both of you

i can't root my wildfire s ...

i have a marvel unlocked s on wildfire s.
i can't root my phone because when i go into the recovery mode, the black screen comes up with the 4 lighting keys. i don't know what to do. i read the related posts but nothing seems to help. could you guys please help.. i unlocked my phone for rooting and now i can't do anything.
You can root your phone by using the HTC super tool, just google for it.
I assume you have stock recovery on your phone, then you actually can't really use that recovery. You should try to root it with supertool
and then install CWM with ROM Manager
I hope this came in handy for you!

i tried the supertool but it doesn't work. i tried everything even the clockworkmode recovery, the flashing of cwm works perfectly fine but the recovery mode doesn't show up so that i can install from sd card. only a black screen with key lighted comes up. i tried the things given in the black screen recovery article of xda .. but nothing seems to help. could you help me out to see through this. my moms htc wildfire s which is one year old works perfectly fine but the problem is with my new one.. i also heard that lot of people are experiencing the same.
After unlocking, you have to root the device first then install CWM and take a nandroid backup thru Recovery option.
For rooting you can also use root.zip method. just google it.
To flash CWM, goto Hboot menu and select fastboot, then goto cmd (command prompt) on pc try using fastboot commands to flash boot.img, system.img and recovery.img.
Hope this may be useful.....

bro, this time i flashed the PG76IMG.zip files but when i go into the recovery to flash install from root.zip, the same black screen comes up. this is the problem which i have been having.. the black screen on recovery which makes us do nothing at all..
i think a new custom recovery has to be made for the htc wildfire s inorder to prevent the black screen on recovery. or does anyone know how to root wildfires without the need to go into any custom recovery mode. please help .. this has become a real problem.. i really wish there was a way.

Maybe you need to downgrade your stock ROM (if you still can boot it up so to say).
Look for a RUU for WFS and try to downgrade/upgrade HBOOT and such to an older/newer version.
Sorry that I can't post any links too RUUs, I'm on my phone.
But there is a tread with these in the Dev section I think, but if they don't work you can just google for them.
tbh I have a similar problem with my bro's WFS, I can't even unlock it because of wrong versions a such so I think your problem could be related to this.

I think you you've chosen the wrong cwm. Chose the right one here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229
download PG76IMG.zip and you need to install it using fastboot, it will not work using the zip file from your sd card. Make sure you delete that file before attempting what is below (adapted from CafeKampuchia's guide on rooting).
You will need SDK tools for Android, Java runtime, and HTC Sync installed on your Windows computer. Install the SDK tools in a directory named something like c:\android. Put the recovery image in this directory, too, not the zip file.
Boot the phone into HBOOT by turning the phone off, removing the battery, replacing the battery then holding down the power key and volume button. After it scans for PG7610.zip, select FASTBOOT and press the power button then connect the USB cable. The word FASTBOOT will change into FASTBOOT USB. If not, then either your USB drivers for the Wildfire S or Android SDK Tools is not installed properly.
Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to c:\android
Type the following command: fastboot flash recovery [image name.img]. For example:
c:\android\>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img
Hope this will install ClockworkMod recovery properly. (If really press 'thank').

first u need adb.exe, adbwinapi.dll, fastboot.exe in that c:\android\
u need a command in cmd to navigate. "cd c:\android"
yeah other than that its pretty complete. See the post he referring to. I remember using this post to root mine.

[Q] Can't boot normally with TWRP

Hi. I recently rooted my phone Xperia S (LT26i) and unlocked its bootloader. I had installed CWM and TWRP recovery in the phone and I have ADB and Fastboot(Android SDK) in my computer. I had earlier flashed CWM but it wasn't working so I flashed TWRP. I had downloaded a custom ROM and Gapps in the PC and I extracted the zip files and copied them into the phone (this was a mistake). I went into TWRP and did factory reset, erased cache and wiped dalvik cache unknowingly:silly: Now I can't flash ROM or Gapps and I cannot boot normally. Earlier, ADB used to recognize the device and now it doesn't. When I turn on the phone, the Sony logo appears and pink light glows. But it doesn't go beyond that. It repeatedly restarts the phone till the splash screen. Now I can't boot the phone normally Please help, guys.
P.S. I saw a post suggesting to enter a code in the Terminal module of TWRP but it's not working.

If You both are able to boot into recovery(twrp), I recommend You boot into twrp, connect the phone to pc. Then Let the drivers install. After it, start the adb, use this command to command to check if Your device is connected:
Code:
adb devices
Copy the ROM zip to the folder of adb.
Then push the file to sdcard using:
Code:
adb push finlename.zip /sdcard
where filename.zip is Your ROM.
