I dug out my htc charger, the one that comes with the G2, and after charging to 100% with it the battery drains incredibly fast. It was dead in 4 hours with only 15-20 mins of actual use. My phone just got done charging via PC and everything seems back to normal. Is there something wrong with the htc charger, that it made the battery weak? I hope it didn't do any damage to my phone.
Most likely that charger is garbage. Your best bet would to order one on ebay for 99cents. Thats the kind i use and they are awesome. If your battery presists draining quickly, then you should get a new battery. As far as i know, you havent done any damage to the phone itself.

I bought this: http://goo.gl/70Els
I'm wondering if it will solve the bump charge issue and will charge the battery fully without having to go through hoops to just charge a battery!!!
I'm tired of being at 90% after ten minutes after a full night charge!
Thanks

Very doubtful. Your best best is the kernel being developed in the dev section with increased charging.
My question has nothing to do with the phone itself because the battery is not in the phone when its charging, it's sitting in the cradle. Nothing to do with the phone itself. Do you think the cradle will charge the battery fully and completely.
Thanks

Yea it bumps it I have one as well. But its bad for the battery.

I've got the charger mentioned as well. I just see it charge the battery "normally" to 100%, and if needed over the next ~xx(x) hours or so, another trickle at low mA will be applied. That isn't the same as this "bump charge" that is always referred to here.
If you turn the phone off and charge, it'll charge just like the charger (Seido) to 100%.
There's lot of good info about LI batteries like this writeup: http://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
Anyway: I thought the main gripe about the DINC charging technique is not anything about the technique, but that it always runs the phone off the battery, rather than using the USB current when it's plugged in. Most phones use the USB (or whatever tech) to a) charge the battery and b) run the phone. Of course if this is HTC's method, then you'll very rarely unplug at 100%.
The rate of battery consumption, regardless of % starting point is more of an issue for me. Using all the SENSE/HTC/VERIZON stuff is a losing proposition more than not having 1-9% of the full capacity at 'go' time. As soon as I rooted, I dumped every app and service starting with HTC*, VER*, *sense* and battery life improved by a great deal. Yeah, I don't care about social networking (well, aside from a forum or two ) -- But I enjoy most of the other phone functionality.
The charger's fine, it's the battery that troubles me
I have the charger, too. Works fine. Does not require "bump."
But the battery (the 1750) that came with it has failed to impress me much, with a tendency to overheat. Frankly, since I rooted and started using SetCPU to underclock with screen off, I've been using the stock battery.
I was wondering if it was possible to have the primary source of power be the USB port versus the battery. I tend to leave my devices plugged in a lot more than I probably should and figured if I could do this it would save on messing up my batteries. It's kind of like having a laptop plugged in without a battery (if you don't really take it out).
Doesn't really help, but if you charge your battery to 100%. you can pull it out as it runs on the usb port from then on. Only worked a few times for me

No need, the phone will turn off charging when the battery gets full.

That's not what I was trying to get at. I was trying to avoid using the battery versus continual draining/charging it. I tend to use it as my hotspot at home for my primary internet connection and sometimes music.
My thought process was if I didn't constantly use the battery I'd keep phone temperature low and not mess up the battery.
Have you ruined batteries in the past by charging them/depleting them? Honestly, I have mine on and off the charger constantly. Today I used my phone to listen to Pandora most of the day and about half way through the day I video chatted with a friend and had it on the charger. I took it off the charger, ran around a little bit away from my house and then came back and it currently sits on the charger again.
From my experience with it, I've never had any issues with keeping it on/off the charger periodically through the day. I am also using a 3500mAh extended battery, but I did the same thing on the stock one.
I understand you are trying to keep temperatures low and play on the safe side, but unless you are noticing unusually high temperatures or something, I wouldn't worry about it being on and off the charger.

Yeah, if you're worried about the battery crapping out, I wouldn't. I've had mine on charger every night or every other night, and it's still like new.
Heck, even if it did die on you, you can get a brand new OEM battery on eBay for less than $6 shipped.
Quick tip on battery. If you go online and sprint chat with a representative, just tell him or her your battery life is no good on your phone. Then he or she will tell you go to buy one then get back on chat and sprint will credit your account. I bought $60 battery extended with case and got credited $60 on my bill
Plus now I can charge one night and last two days!

Hi Guys, first full charge is over, battery seems ok to me, as good as my Desire at least...
for the initial charge I pulled the phone out of the box and let it charge to green, then turned it on for an hour while charging and had a play...switched off and left till the morning so...10 hours or so.
Today it was used for 11 hours from 100% to 2% with 67% screen time (3h20m)...
Just put it back on charge and I'm not sure what to do this time round to maximize my batteries potential!!! lol
Shall I charge until green or another all nighter? I've read that these early charges are crucial in the life of a new One X
Thanks

Either should be fine. Over night or charge till green.
Cheers! Didn't fancy waiting till tomorrow for another One X session

While I don't get why this is funny, I'd say let it die and charge it to the max without switching it back on twice, it truly gave me a bump in battery life.
Cheers

I did something simlair, when it got to 10% i turned the phone off then charged and have now got a day 1/2 with modrate usage.
i thought it was no longer necessary to charge phones before first use?
Perhaps, was just being extra cautious as its non-removable...

I've never been convinced by this charge/discharge cycle. Lithium batteries don't like to be fully depleted, top up charges are their preferred usage pattern.
The full cycle days left with NiCad! The batteries have changed my friends, it's about time the advice did, too.
Most of the advice I hear from experts is that heat, overcharging and deep cycling is what kills Lithium based rechargeables, so if you know you will have access to a charger, keep the phone between 30-80% charged with regular top ups and don't leave it on your dashboard in the sun.
I would warmly suggest you deplete your battery fully for the first 10 times doing whatever and charge the phone while it's off. It does wonders to my X. Started off with under 3 hrs of screen time to over 4 hrs in 10 charges.

Just because your battery life got better, and you did deep discharges, doesn't mean one caused the other. There is a difference between a causal effect and correlation. But whatever. I'll believe it when I find a reputable study.

So many people here have their own opinions on batteries.
CHARGE IT HOW YOU SEE FIT. CHARGE WHEN YOU NEED TO.
There we go. All of this fuss over batteries when most of the time any effect seen is placebo.
I got my phone on the 5th and I'm currently on charge number....74...I think?
Here is a pic of what happened to me. Lately the phone shuts off whrn it gets ecen remotely hot, i can barely feel it getting hot when it shuts down. After that sometimes it wont reboot because the battery has drained and when I plug it in it shows a battery with a yellow triangle. Another thing is that my phone or battery has killed two different chargers and it seems now the only way to charge my phone is through a usb cable either connected to the wall or to my computer.
So which is it, my phone or my battery that is bad?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
As I recall, if the battery is drained and shows the triangle, it just means it's too "dead" to power on.
Hmm, that's strange. Were they Samsung Chargers or generic ones?
Maybe it's a certain ROM or something you are using?

The first charger was the OEM one that came with the phone. It died within 3 months of usage. The second charger was from an old motorola phone I had, my phone killed it almost instantly.
I was using Calk's latest ICS ROM so I decided to flash GB again using this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394332
The phone doesn't seem to turn off now but the battery DRAINS while charging.
Something must really be wrong here.
Maybe the batterynis too hot if it is it wont charge pluz there is bug in ics its happen to me b4 that y i went back to l29
That's probably a failing battery. Mine drained while charging. Turnout to be a bad cable. I also had the wall adapter start to do that when it went out. Try a new charger and if that doesn't help it is probably a bad battery.

battery and chargers must match check your spec sheet for the correct milli amperage also alot of batteries wont charge when the pack is hot replace battery and charger and wipe your battery stats
Just this past week I got two of these extended batteries off of Ebay. Although I'm still calibrating the one seen on the charger. I really haven't found anything concrete on how long a battery like this is suppose to charge for? I've read things such as charge it in the phone (which the phone will charge it as if it's the stock battery) use the charger that came with it (charger in the photo continually thinks that the battery is at full charge, when it was in the phone until it died.) To battery calibration apps which I'm reading don't do anything, to bloatware. So if anyone can help me out, it would be great. And sorry if I made any mistakes in this, sending this from my phone is kinda hard for me.

I have the same extended battery and I can say that I have no idea. I'm using custom roms, and a charge lasts anywhere from a day to 3. I would say charge it in the phone til full, then drain it by using it, and do that a couple of times, it gets better as time goes on.

I have the same battery and when I use the phone to charge it it takes 6 - 7 hours and it lasts pretty good but since I've installed the shot of awesomeness by team inferno the original battery is good enough for my day... My max was 1d 14 hrs 10m 20s with 2% left... Big thanks to team inferno!!!
