When I connect My Arc S to pc companion it gives me Arc LT15 instead of Arc S LT18, how can i fix that problem?
Do you use custom rom ?
From my sexy LT15i
yes I am using custom rom JJ's HYBRID ROM v3
Edit build.prop in /system and replace LT15i by LT18i in line ro.product.model with Root Explorer (Open in text editor). Reboot and enjoy.
it is already ro.product.model=LT18i
I have the same problem, but I did not use any rom, just rooted my phone
when I uncheck usb debugging pc companion recognize it as LT18,but when its check,it sees it as LT15

You need to change all instances of LT15i to LT18i in the build prop.
If not, you can update to his latest rom V4. I have it running on my Arc S and it's all fine after you flash it.

If I am correct the big pack 3.1 Is not for ics, it is only for gb.
To install cwm you need root.

Root for 4.0.4 Xperia Arc/ Arc S was out a while ago. One must downgrade the kernel, root and then upgrade it.
try to put your drive into flashmode and flash back to a stock rom/kernel and try install the big pack on an GB rom!
First of all, go to this forum and download the LT15i 4.0.4 update for your phone. I suggest Generic Global World.
Flash it using the latest version of Flashtool (v0.8.6.0). Check the No Final Verification box. Welcome to the correct build of ICS for your phone. LOL!
Now you've already downloaded the LT18's 4.0.3 ftf previously. Using Flashtool, just flash the kernel alone of the 4.0.3 build. Make sure you exclude everything else. The 4.0.3 kernel is rootable using the zergrush exploit.
Once that's done, flash back the 4.0.4 kernel. Again making sure to exclude everything else other than the kernel.
And there you go, you have a rooted 4.0.4. After this, go download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market.
That should solve your problem. You should have no issues with CWM after that. (Maybe except a slight offline charging issue. )

Sorry, my bad. I misquoted. I meant to say use DooMLorD's Rooting Toolkit for ICS.
EDIT: I take that back. The Rooting Toolkit DOES use the zergrush exploit.

Ok, thanks for the help. But this is not the real question.
I had xperia arc, arc knight kernel 3.5 with Jelly Sandwich.
When i saw the Ultimate HD Rom page try to download this custom ROM. But in the instruction page lt15i users should flash lt18i firmware. So i downloaded it18i global firmware 4.1.B.0.587 stock kernel and firmware. Try to flash lt18 via flashtool. I'm definetly sure i enabled unknown sources and debugging. When flashing the lt18i it aborted in the userdata.sin Unplug my xperia arc and powered on.
It opened with SONY logo and when the second logo(xperia, JellySandwich i mean related with the custom rom) appeared just a second and device rebooted again. I dont know why this happened.
When i faced this boot loop. I downloaded generic lt15i firmware and kernel. Flash them. Looks good. Sony logo and coming Xperia logo looks good with 4.0.4
Then i fastbooted arcknight kernel 3.5 and CWM flash the Jelly sandwich again. I turned back to where i was.
Couldnt flash lt18i but i can flash lt15i quite good.
Is it really neccasary to flash lt18 for my device for Ultimate HD custom ROM or i can flash with lt15i?
It is the question i am asking?
Also why i cant flash lt18i? Can everbody flash it?
I hope i can explain myself this time.
Thanks for the help.

Hehe, now i get it.No you don't flash it with lt18i firmware, you flash it wit lt15i .ftf firmware, but for rooting .587 you will have to flash lt18i kernel of 4.0.3 but that all on the links i gave you.
So flash your qrc with lt15i .ftf, root it,install cwm and then flash the rom.Don't try flashing it with lt18i,thats for ArcS,you have to flash it with lt15i.

oh woops didn't see that you meant lt15. Which thread did you get this info from? Cant remember a method of increasing internal memory just by simply flashing an arc s firmware. I remember this though
Yes, if you flash it, both your internal memory and system storage will increase.
I believe lt15 and lt18 are same machine.
And reserve has been unleashed.
Nothing more.
If you are worried, just underclock it to 1GHz.
Reason for 431 might be due to easier rooting.
I guess they have unlocked bootloader and this is just preparation for flashing custom rom like cm10.

Your internal memory will increase!
How is this possible? You have more memory built in then SE is allowing you to use.
Those memory is reserved for machines called LT18.

so it's only for unlocked bootloaders? I have locked bootloader.Where do i underclock my cpu to 1GHZ?
I found this info on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746508.Which says as follows:
Step-2) Please download Xperia Arc-S 4.0.4_431 ftf pack from here only and flash it through flash tools , in Arc and arc-s both , FTF is available in downloads
Flash every thing from ftf pack just exclude two things
1. simlock.ta
2. Kernel.sin
do not flash these two things, after flash power up your phone and let it start completely, now copy rom zip into SD card , and reboot your device into recovery
Why you need to do this ???
It will give you 440-MB internal memory and 419-MB System Rom memory
If you already have these memories then you can skip this step
Just want to make sure my phone won't be bricked after flashing arc S firmware.
Well arc and arc s are pretty same just a better CPU I think. I have used arc s and its great. You can flash .587 but why not use Sony update service to do so if you have lo ked downloader? You won't brick if something goes wrong just flash back to orginal. And might I suggest looking at ultimate hd Rom by jader its simply the best using it on arc s and also installed it on xperia ray. I can flash xperia arc .587 with not problem with flashtool.I just wanted to know if flashing arc s firmware will brick my phone.I did tried ultimate HD rom but got strange problem where bloatwares are not removed, stock apps are not updated(don't know if it suppose to update to xperia s/t apps) and walkman v mod didn't work.So had to restore my stock rom.
Here is the another developer suggesting the same thing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748635:
FOR LOCKED BOOTLOADERS
Arc ( LT15 ) users
for Arc ( LT15 ) users, download Arc S LT18 .587 ftf below, flash it via flashtool ( system, userdata, and kernel )
after booting, flash Arc S 562 kernel via flashtool
Root via Doomlord's ICS Xperia 2011 Rooting toolkit
after rooting complete, flash Arc S ftf .587 kernel again
I think we need to download .587 ftf from the post where developer mentioned. But when we use arc s kernel during root process it will give some fore close in some apps before rooting so will the .587 ftf and it's kernel work on arc?
Yes it will work but I think u might need to unlock your bootloader. Trying doesn't hurt. And don't worry about brick cause u are on locked bootloader you can simply use Sony erricson update service software(seus) to restore back to stock. The problems u mentioned are usually related to when u don't do the wipes right or format the system. And u must have flashed 2.0 ... With 2.0.3 walkman should work. I dont use walkman but I think I even see it on 2.0.2.

Why can't you root 587 firmware I've got that firmware and it's rooted just flashed dooms modded kernel ran his rooting script then flashed back to 587 kernel installed cwm from market. I just need to be sure i can flash arc S .587 firmware on my arc (not S).I don't want to use any other ROMs cause i don't want to make my rom incompatible with new mods when they come.I can and have removed bloatwares from my ROM.The xperia HD rom didn't removed my stock firmware and no new(xperia s) apps were installed when i flashed that ROM.Yes i did followed all steps including wiping caches, formating system etc.I even tried it on fresh stcok ROM.i tried 3/4 times, the ultimate HD ROM flashed fine, there was version number in setting and some changes but it didn't removed bloatwares and when i tried walkman mod,it gaveme FC.So i decided to go on fresh stock ROM.
The main purpose of opening this thread is to know if i can flash arc S .587 on my arc so that it would raise my internal and system memory and if doing so would brick my phone or will there be kernel incompatibility(force close some system apps).Seems no one is sure about this.So i won't be flashing atc S firmware in future.thankx everyone for participation. How to close this thread?
