i just flashed my nexus from yakjuxw to yakju last night, was on Android 4.0.2, baseband was XXKK6, if i remember correctly, i regreted didnt write it down. right after i flashed it, i noticed i lost signal in the living room, but i didnt pay too much attentions to it. today, i noticed when i step out the house on my regular route, i get intermittent lost signal problem, "no service", i had to reboot the phone, then signal will come back, but lose it again in about 2 mins, then might come back later, etc. in on Tmobile at Los Angeles area, baseband XXLA2.
is it possible that i can put the old radio XXKK6 back to this yakju, 4.0.4? how do i change it? can it be done with GNex tool kit or it have to be using CWM?

This is a known issue
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28133
I'm on AOKP build 29.
I don't lose signal completely but I often lose HSPA/data connection.
I've noticed this a lot when I use wifi for a long time then switch it off... Rebooting resolves the issue.
Bar shows full signal but no "H" sign and no data. I've waited for a long time afterwards but still doesn't connect.
in fastboot mode, my lock state indicated UNLOCKED, but it doesnt seems that i have root access. superuser indicated" Failed to find currently installed su binary. Update cannot cotinue". Rom Manager said my phone is not root, "Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su". GNex toolkit v5.6 said support root on 4.0.4, what did i miss?
is it possilbe to just flash it back to yakjuxw 4.0.2 thru GNex toolkit?
Uh, I'm no expert, but last time I checked, the lock state shown in fastboot indicates the state of your bootloader, not whether or not you have root. You can have your bootloader unlocked but no root.

You need to fastboot clockwork mod recovery then reboot into recovery and flash su.zip look for the sticky under development that shows how to install custom recoveries.

Did you root the phone again after you flashed the stock img. You can flash any radio I use North America radio UGLC1
Sent from my GNex {GSM} T-Mobile
i think i know what my problem are, i only have the bootloader unlock, but no root. dont have CWM in it, i will try to root the phone later with GNex tool kit, then flash the CWM with ROm Manager so i could test out that UG radio.
thanks for all the replies!!!
Can't you just put the phone into fastboot, then use the manual method to flash the other radio to replace the last installed?
Or am I missing something?
What.the.heck.
I'm on Tmobile

If you want cwm touch use rom manager to flash standard cwm so the app will know you have it installed then use the toolkit to flash cwm touch.

after flashing to the UGLC1 radio, i c my singals becomes alot more stable than XXLA2, i dont lose signal ramdomly, even im playing with the phone and the phone is not in standby/lock state.
the only problem i noticed is once the phone is locked/standby, if i press the power button, before unlocking the screen, i noticed the signal bar indicated no signals, once in the phone, the bar will come back withing a 10-20 seconds, i know this problem already been reported.
so i tested the phone like leave it untouched, aside for about 15 mins, theoretically the signals should been gone, i should have no services, but when i call from other phone to myself, it always went thru, phone rang. it seens the signal bar just indicated 3G/4G only, but GSM still working in the back even it said no signals.
For me, I wake up the phone and no data. Nothing restores it except reboot. Calling functionally is not affected, just data.
Happened once on stock kernel + uglc1 and once on leankernel + xxla2 + 700mhz-1200.
XXKK6 is the best radio for all 4.0.3 & under roms.
Sent from my i9250 [GSM) Galaxy Nexus
I always lost data connection when I was on xxkk6, then I upgraded my radio to xxla2 n have had steady signal since then......
I use TMobile in Houston....n am using aokp ROM b29 with Franco kernel milestone 2

What I would do is rebooting my phone in fastboot mode (vol up/down + power) and flash the latest factory image from http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html, but there may be other solutions
i fixed it, is there anything about rooting would kill 4g? i was showing 4g now after rooting im showing 3g?
How did you root your phone ? Basically rooting is just installing a file (su) on the phone, it shouldn't have any impact at all...

i used galaxy nexus toolkiit for bootloader unlock and root
As far as I know, Galaxy Nexus Toolkit let you flash radio and kernel, maybe you flashed something incompatible with you phone ?
What I would do is flash the latest image from http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html (I believe you need the CDMA/LTE version if you have 4G ?) and start again

hey all, I noticed that jelly bean is out, sort of.
i would like to put it on my nexus but am sofar unable to make sense of the development forums pertaining to this so hopefully someone here can help me understand this.
I used the efrant's post:

to take my yakjuux nexus to yakju (4.0.4) using fastboot and the stock image provided from google...
I would like to upgrade further, though from what i can figure out JB is only available on takju (yakju with google wallet (works in US only)).
can someone here help me?

If you're running stock yakju you don't really need to switch to takju. Just install CWM (The Galaxy Nexus Toolkit is an awesome tool to help you do that) and flash this.
You can go from any rom (custom or stock) to jb as far as you have cwm and xxla2 radios..
Cheers

i think it worked, used option 6 for my build of android, then selectedthe option to install cwm touch, followed the instructions in section 3 on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614827
Hopefully this will fix the issue i was having with my nexus where the radio would lose all connection to the network... usually have to reboot the phone to get it to work again... a minor annoyance for an awesome phone. Atleast it doesn't take 3-5 min to boot up like my blackberry playbook tablet (that's not cool RIM, please fix)...

it didn't on my nexus... though i didn't use the 7th option which does steps 3-6 (unlock bootloader, root phone, flash recovery) which would wipe the phone.
I just hope i can still send messages on it, last time i flashed it i had to get telus to resend the info to the phone.
another question, I don't think I got the full JB os, as my phone is still using the xxla2 radio... if i wanted to go back to yakju for the full stock OTA update, supposedly coming next month sometime, and keep my warranty, I would just reflash everything back to yakju, including recovery (CWM - stock)?
I assume I would have to do this with the fastboot in the DOS window since I don't think that I can revert everything back to 4.0.4 with the toolkit.
also how do I tell if the phone is rooted? I don't think i did this but would like to know anyways.

Yes, for stock, use adb+fastboot and Nexus Factory Images for everything stock 100%. And to check for superuser, just download an app that requires it and see if you get a command prompt. But even easier than that, SuperUser or SuperSU should be in your app drawer if you have it installed, and also in your /system/app

I don't have those apps installed, guess I am not rooted. Good to know.
Also it should be noted that I no longer have any input lag using poweramp, with ICS 4.0.4 there was always a 1 second (seemed like it anyways) delay between the button press and the phone doing what I want. I hope this extends to using my bluetooth headset as well.
hmmm figured i would try downgrading to takju using the toolkit... it did everything which is nice however i noticed that it still uses the radio from yakju...
is there a way to check what it didn't add to the phone when it downgraded?
edit: I should add that it wiped my phone when I loaded takju...
looking forward to getting the official JB update next month...

I already had bootloader unlocked, so I just had to install CWM recovery and flash the jb-takju image mentioned earlier. Once the phone has rebooted the CWM was gone, so had to reflash that. Afterwards I downloaded the XLFF1 radios (you can search for radio-i9250-xxlf1.zip) and flashed them as well. Now my phone shows all the same versions as the takju phones passed out at Google I/O. All my settings, etc. were preserved.

i really would like to remain stock but get JB as well, what would I need besides that radio to make the takju image from the google site to be prompted to dl the OTA JB update if it is still available to download from google...?
edit: screw that, found efrant's post:

hopefully the jb-takju.zip linked earlier in this thread is the same as the one in efrants' post....
if not, is it possible to reflash with the newer zip without setting everything up again?

good to know, i compared the url's for both links, the one in efrant's post is missing the ) at the end. I ended up wiping the cache's (except for the one that sounds like some guys name) and flashed the zip from it. working great so far.
at the moment I am reinstalling my apps, and i do not think that all of the apps that were in the google folder last time i reinstalled the os, are there. anyone know what the default apps that are supposed to come with the OS are in that folder? I can only remember Layer which I installed manually...

Sorry, I didn't have to reinstall anything, so the apps in my Google folder are the same as before the update. I do however have Currents in the main app drawer which I don't remember having before.
I can get signal inside, I only get signal on outside place. I don't know if that is by JB because my device is new and I didn't use with ICS.
So, does anyone have the same problem?
Thanks in advance.

Could you be more specific?
what Gnex are you on? (maguro, toro, or toroplus?)
are you running any custom ROMS?
and i''m guessing it was a typo in the OP and that you CAN'T get signal inside. am i correct?
thanks

Hi Wolfbeef123,
My Gnex is maguro (GSM/HSPA) and I'm using stock rom with stock ril and stock kernel and is rooted.
I booted with ICS 4.0.2 without SIM card first time. I connected to WIFI and upgraded to 4.0.4 and later to 4.1.1. After that, I rebooted my phone with SIM card, and I don't get signed inside, even in the car.
Thanks,

I unfortunately don't have experience with maguro, only toro and toroplus.
But i have had some signal issues in the past.
If you havent thrown your phone at the wall or boiled it in water, and you had signal before then it most likely isn't hardware.
Try booting into recovery, doing a nandroid backup, and reflashing your ROM with a FULL wipe. if that doesn't fix it, you can just restore.
also, if that fails, try flashing the latest Maguro Radio from the development section.

Update to latest bootloader/radio (dont use a toolkit), if you havent already.
I don't know if the phone had signal before, because It's new and I updated via WIFI without SIM card. After that I inserted my sim card and the signal is too low or none.
I left my gnex to technical service of Samsumg before I change something (bootloader, recovery) to avoid lost my warranty. So, thanks for your replies. If I still have the same issue, I will report in this thread.
Hi- I'm an apologetic noob
Just got a sprint galaxy s6, activated it (all seemed to work), then rooted it with cfautoroot. Flashed via ODIN the CF-Auto-Root-zerofltetmo-zerofltetmo-smg920t.tar (which i guess is the t-mobile one).
Unfortunately, somehow wifi was lost-- it seems to turn on, but just keeps searching and never finds any networks (there are plenty near me). Phone and bluetooth seem to work fine.
I had read that there would likely be problems with deep sleep after root, so i thought the wifi might be part of it, and i tried to flash proactively G920PVPU1AOCF_G920PSPT1AOCF_G920PVPU1AOCF_HOME.tar.md5
that just lost me root access, but didn't restore wifi.
so i reflashed the CF-autoroot.
Now it says i have
android version 5.0.2
and baseband version g920pvpu1a0cf
hardware version g920p02
am rooted again
but wifi is still lost
It may be because of my efforts to 'restore' from TiBu (possibly because also of things like xposed framework which doesn't work with touchwiz)
anyway- can anyone help a clueless noob?
(sorry if in wrong section)
thanks

thanks so much for the reply
didn't work unfortunately
i just re-flashed the only stock i see available (via sammobile) from here
xxx (the sammobile site- it won't let me post link) /firmwares/database/SM-G920P/
wasn't any wifi back even without root. rooting didn't change it.
is there another 'stock' somewhere?
Solution?.... hard factory reset
so
i finally essentially gave up and tried a hard factory reset which erased all data.
the good news is wi-fi reappeared. I will try to root again and hope it was just a glitch in the process.
wish me luck, thanks for the help, and I hope my experience helps someone else.
Hi all, new comer to the S3 here but not new to flashing etc. I just wanted to get a few things straight before I went ahead.
1. I downloaded and used Mskip unified android toolkit. I rooted and flashed twrp recovery to my S3.
I am on I747UCALG1 4.0.4 and I just wanted to know if I can flash the 4.1.1 build ATT-I747UCDLK3 that I found here straight away in odin. I know some sammy phones are drama queens when it comes to new bootloaders etc. Will the new build update the bootloader or should I do this separately.
Or should I just download a rom from the development section and flash it in twrp or won't that work and I need to flash a new bootloader first then flash the newer roms.
Thanks for any help and yes I did search around but only found questions regarding downgrading.
Bro, remember my strong advice - don't go higher.
Battery life goes worse with every update. I wish I never did it.
But if you want to try something new, try OctOs
The problem I'm having right now is that my wifi keeps on scanning but does not find any networks although I am 2 feel from my router. This phone really was my Gfs that went crazy and I changed out the mainboard so I'm just running it as a back up.
Personally, I would flash stock 4.1.1 from sammobile.com and sim unlock the phone using the free method if the phone is sim locked. Once sim unlocked, I suggest running OTA updates until the phone is running the latest stock ROM. Once it is running the latest stock ROM, flash twrp, take a nandroid backup, and then flash a custom ROM if you want.
Note: once the phone is running the latest bootloader, you cannot downgrade the bootloader.
Would be hard to do an OTA since I cannot connect to any wifi networks.
if youre talking upgrading bootloader/modems , and cannont do as @audit13 suggests , and cannot connect to wifi or use/have enough data ; then i would suggest upgrading incrementally.

No it is on and scans for networks but it does not show any, even if I add a network manually it does not connect. I read somewhere that I need a newer bootloader in order for the wifi to work. Does anyone have the newest bootloader for me to flash and try this out on?

Do the last 4 characters of the modem match the last four characters of the bootloader?
For wifi to work properly, it is best to match the bootloader to the modem and vice versa.
