[Q] LT18i/ARC s Battery Drain and wrong model - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I recently got from my stock LT18i to FXP114 through updating Baseband and flashing the image to my phone..
Everything went fine apart from following issues..
My phone happens to identify itself as LT15i which it is not!
And I experience very high Battery drain.. Charged over night.. almost 20% in 30 min..
I'm new to the forums, and checked before writing this thread. But can't find a clear answer to my problem =/
I hope you guys can help.

May youre on wrong kernel ?
From my sexy LT15i

You can change the model number in build.prop
About Battery Issue, goto CWM and Clean Battery Stats and recharge 100%.
And dont worry, turn off 3G, and auto-sync.

What would be the best kernel for FXP114? I used the Baseband 64 file and the kernel of the flash file.
by 3g you mean my internetconnection right? :S
ill try what you said about CWM. so just clean battery stats and recharge, should I let it fully unload first?

I have the same issue but not battery drain, i tried to root my LT18i today, downgraded to 0.42 via wotan server then root using flashtool by Bin4ry & Androxyde, then when i connect my LT18i to pc, my pc companion detect it as LT15. I unroot my LT18i and run a repair using SE Update Service and PCC but still it detects it as LT15. How can I change it back to LT18i?

Xperia ARC issue - RED LED!

Hello,
I have a big problem with my Xperia ARC.
After a downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.2 for rooting purposes and after installing and running GingerBreak v1.2 the device the device suddenly showed 0% battery and went dead.
When I try to charge the device the red led appears, it shows that it's charging but it never turns to green(left it on the charger for 12 hours).
So, no matter what kind of software I try to flash with flashtool it still doesn't work.
Tried the battery at a GSM service and it's ok, aprox 95% still available, also the battery is fully charged.
But when the device boots it only takes for a second and then it shuts down from lack of power(the software shows 0%) although the battery is charged.
Any ideas regarding this issues?
I'm running out of ideas...
Best regards,
Robert
Pull the batt for few seconds and put it in again. It will fix. There is already guide about this issue on other thread.

no luck with that... imagine that I've removed the battery a few dozen times.
If pc companion recognises it via usb then start from scratch, may be a corrupt download.

It does recognize the device, both PC Companion and SEUS.
Butt... they report that "Your phone is up to date".
So I'm left with flashtool and numerous of .ftf files already tried, like :
Lt15i_3.0.1.A.0.145_o2.ftf
LT15i_3.0.A.2.181_HongKong.ftf
LT15i_4.0.A.2.368_Nordic (Telia).ftf
No luck with that either.
Tried with "arc_lt15i_modded.img" but it's designed for an ARC with an unlocked bootloader, mine is not, and keeps looping on reboot.
Can someone help me with a .img file from their ARC in order to use fastboot - one for an locked bootloader?
Best regards,
Robert

Regarding the 2.3.4 question :
The phone, it's a test demo unit.
When I received it had 2.1 installed.
Sent it to SE and when it came back had the 2.3.4.
But not for a long time... Because I went back to 2.3.2 for rooting and... RED LED of death

New info!
Just discovered that my ARC is a "brown" phone aka a prototype.
So this is the reason why both SEUS and PC Companion deny the software update/repair.
Best regards,
Robert
why is your phone brown? Did you unlock bootloader? If so have you tried locking it and then trying seus?

"brown" phone is the generic name for devices that are not for sale,
the devices are given for testing purposes.
As far as I know the bootloader is locked in this ARC, the reason for not succeeding with the update/repair is that my ip address is not in the SEMC list - my guess is that some approved by SE repair shops can help me with an update.
Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robitzza, I've got the same problem here with my NEO. Red LED, 0% battery after running gingerbreak1.2 on 2.3.2 HK.
I have reflashed my NEO to 2.3.2 HK, 2.3.2 Global, 2.3.4HK, no luck.
Also I have removed the battery for one night, still nothing have changed.
I dont think it is a problem with BL, but I could be wrong tho. Im sure the BL is locked. The device can startup normally with cable plugged in, and the system is running smoothly. It shows 0% battery. If I unplug the cable, the device goes down immediately coz of low battery.
I am gonna send my phone to SE if there is nothing else I can do.
Please let me know if you have made any progress. Thanks!
EDIT: Well, may it is the bootloader. One of my friends told me that it could be the battery sensor which is not initialized because of the damaged BL.

I sent my phone to SE. They didn't bother to figure out what caused the problem and just replaced a new motherboard for my phone.
Thank you very much for you offer. I will let you know when my phone is in trouble again after warranty.
Same problem for me, tried everything but no gain.... i dn't have my warranty too.. somebody help please,,,
Can someone try this modification of DooMLoRD's advice:
1. flash any stock FTF
2. DO NOT power on device
3. now press back button without release it and directly connect to charger (usb or wall charger) for a few hours [make sure that the offline-charging "animation" is seen on screen] and test if led is green or orange. If it's red, it doesn't work.
4. If it's not red, you can release back button and wait a few hours charging and reboot your phone.

Issue with downgrading ARC S from ICS to 2.34

I tried to downgrade my phone from ics to 2.34 today and it wont turn on and when I attach the charger to it there is no light. Can I try to install ics through the flashtool to get it to work or is it bricked? I successfully used the flashtool to downgrade to 2.34 but it is non responsive.
You sure it was 2.3.4? And not 2.3.2 or 2.3.3?
You sound like you have the 0% battery issue.
Swyped from my SE Xperia arc (LT15i) using Tapatalk 2
Did you get any errors from flashtool? If so, don't forget to uncheck end verification (not sure if that's exactly)
Uncheck it and flash your 2.3.4 again, it should work.
Good luck!

I using the bin4ry flashtool. I don't see that option.
The battery light should turn on when I try to charge it. I didn't get any errors when I downgraded to 2.34...
I don't have access to Laptop right now, in Flashtool, you choose flash, then firmware, there, on the right side you should see the options. But if there were no Errors I don't think that's the Problem.
As long as you can get into flashmode (backkey then USB) you could try to flash again..

CAn't get into flashmode again. Light doesn't come on when I try to charge...Any help is appreciated..

looks like you damaged the Trim Area.
if you did, you need to use SEtool to fix it.

[Q] Arc S bricked because of Xperia Ice Cream Pureness?

Hey, Yesterday I installed Xperia Ice Cream Pureness Rom.
After having a play around I thought most of it was quite good.
I installed some apps that I use daily and went to bed.
Went to work this morning everything was good.
Used the phone a couple of times phone calls, text messages etc etc
At lunch time I went home looked at my phone and it was off. I tried to switch it on nothing.
Tried to pull the battery and switch on... Nothing
Tried connecting to SUS... Nothing
To install I
1. Updated my firmware with SUS doing a clean full install
2. Rooted and installed CWM from the market so I could wipe all data/cache etc etc
3. Installed the .zip and extra pack latest version 8.00
4. Booted and everything was running great
Does anyone know why this would happen?
I am using my arc at the moment as I am taking my Arc S to the shop I got it from tomorrow for them to send to warranty
The status of my phone was totally standard
Sim free factory unlocked
Fastboot enabled but never used
Bootloader locked as never had need to unlock it
Thanks in advance,
Zippy
Try full reflash.
PS: Wrong Forum, post in Q&A
Wasn't quite sure so I am sure a mod can move it
How can I full flash if it is bricked?
No lights no signs of life
Cannot connect to SUS/PC Companion or flashtool
Take battery out for half an hour.
Then connect it while pressing,Back ( left) key. The led should light green. Then reflash with Flashtool.
Sent from my ICS-powered arc S. From Austria! You don't know Austria? Google!
PS: Thank or PM me if you like the Rubiks Cube!
what is your battery states
if its full then there is some seriouse issue
if its not then do charge by any battery charger
and when you get or able to conntect in flash mode do first thing and that is do update you handset with sony Update service not pc compain.
Thanks for your replies

I cannot connect to PC companion anyway as it won't switch on and SUS not detecting
I am aware I have bricked it and not bothered as I sent it for warranty repair today.
The question was does anyone know why this would happen?
I did everything correctly and even installed over a fresh rom with no problems at all
Thanks again
No one?

Not a clue. You said in your first post that you had fastboot enabled but then that you didn't have your bootloader unlocked, well if you hadn't unlocked your bootloader you can't have had fastboot enabled.
Not entirely, fastboot has nothing to do with the bootloader
My phone had fastboot enabled from factory so bootloader unlock is possible official method.
Ah well get my phone back in a couple of days just thought if I could know the issue and if it could happen to others these people could be warned
Thanks everyone for replies

i tried different basebands..... my phone was running version 77.... i flashed v70, v64, v36.... the signal drop got less frequent but still its hasnt gone completely...
Its better if you stick with higher version of basebands than .72
Lower versions may create more problems than it may solve
