I'm sure someone is addicted to words with friends and scramble with friends like I am.
I'm running ilwt (the latest).
If I don't manually go to applications and force stop one or the other, while I'm playing them, it litterally lags the hell out of my phone!
Has anyone else ran into this? Is there anything I can do about it?
Starting to finally feel like my phone can't handle what I throw at it! I know, those games are memory hogs, but hey, what can I say.... I'm addicted.

Hey. I playing Hanging with Friends (same dev as WWF) and Scrabble simultaneously every day. Usually without a glitch. I do get the occassional force close, but otherwise they run well. I'm also using ILWT. I keep my phone pretty lite though. In fact, I think I run Hanging with Friends from my SD. Perhaps it's time for a full wipe?

I went to elitmodcm7 and took hanging with friends off lol. Every once in awhile I get a little lag, so I put a shortcut onscreen for running services and when it gets a little laggy, I just open it up and stop the ones using the most resources..

First off, not sure if this should go in the General section...?
This is something that has bugged me from day one with the phone. Why does scrolling with the 'All Programs' menu, and SMS messages seem clunky? It just seems like it's running at a lower frame per second compared to the rest of the phone. Even touch sensitiviy is lagged too. Is this a FPS issue or is scrolling through the menus or SMS messages really taxing the CPU to where it causes it to chug?
Since its loading a lot of data, it chugs, assuming you are using the stock messaging app. Handcent and chompsms alleviate that problem.

But even if I load a message that has less then 10 messages it still hesitates.

I've played with 3 Incredibles, including mine, and they all have this problem. I'm about 99% sure it is just poor coding on HTC's part, since there are other parts of the phone with similar scrolling animations that don't lag.
That's odd. I've had mine since 4 days before launch and i can only think of one time when it has lagged. That was while downloading a ROM from rom manager listening to music, and using veiwing flash content from one of the froyo roms i do notice what u r talking about but only n the htc music and messaging apps. When using the stock android messaging and music apps from skyraider 1.8 they seem to have 0 lag. Like the guy above said probably poor coding on htc's part. I wouldn't call that lag. Just clunky scrolling. If u want to experience lag put a live wallpaper on droid 1. That is lag

So then I'm assuming the messaging program that comes with our phone isn't the stock Android one?
I've seen this issue posted in another thread in the Apps and Themes sections, I figured this would be a good place to get it up as well.
Games are crashing on me with dependable consistency. I can play for around five minutes, ten if I'm lucky, and the game will just close. No FC, no notice of any kind, I'm just unceremoniously deposited back into whatever app I was using when I accessed the game. I've so far only experienced this with Plants vs Zombies; others have had this same issue with many other games.
The folks in this thread ( androidforums.com/samsung-epic-4g-touch/415823-games-crashing.html (Not allowed to link.)) seem pretty convinced that it's related to some sort of audio bug. My personal experience is that turning the sound off / all the way down hasn't made any noticeable difference.
I've so far experienced this on Starburst and Calkulin's. I never tried with stock.
I'm open to ideas and experimentation, as I'd really like to be able to sate my (portable) Plants vs Zombies addiction.
So far there's no fix.
So calkulins rom didnt work either... I was going to flash my phone today... Nm that tho... I guess I'll have to leave it stock... (wait for patch)...

Soundpool is seriously fukt with these US sgs2 phones... The sound pool is what causes games to crash... No turning the volume down doesn't help either...Samsung is denying it too...
Hopefully some one can create a rom that stops this from happening...

Certainly glad to hear it's getting some attention. Such an ugly mar on such a wonderful phone. Fingers crossed!
As the title says, I'm looking for a ICS rom for our Desire which works good enough for games.
I have tried many of the ICS roms and on every rom there was a problem with almost every game.
Temple Run doesnt respond to my swipes correctly and it often automaticly turn left and dies.
Tap Tap Revenge 4 doesnt recognise the phone resolution and therefor the size of the game is incorrect, menu too big and the screen while playing is very small.
Angry Birds doesnt respond to my touch. It responds to regular buttons like the return button but when i touch the screen nothing happens.
I want to have a ICS rom that works with atleast these 3 games cuz they are my favorite. If there is a ICS rom that works with one of these games then please tell me so that I can check it up.
I want to have a ICS rom cuz ive seen the big smoothness in these roms and in the games and it beats the hell out of every other rom that I have encountered
Thank you in Advance

I'm using COS ICS rom, and I've suffered your same problems with Angry Birds many times (don't know about the other games, as I don't have them).
All the times, the problems went away if I started the game just after rebooting. The problems seem to be related to something I used before playing, or perhaps with degradation after some hours of use...
Try it...

Unfortunately, some of these apps cannot be used until the developers update the app.
Temple Run- It's a problem with the touchscreen and it does not really run well with ICS. Some official ICS for certain phones (such as Xperia S) has the same problem
Tap Tap- It is not compatible with Android 3.0 and above. You have to wait for an update from Tapulous. However, seeing that the app has not been updated for more than 6 months already, it's likely that they abandoned it for tap tap 5.
Angry Birds- I can actually play it on Sanvold ICS perfectly, albeit with slight lags. So I don't know why it doesn't respond to your touches.
Hope this helps.

I have seen today that temple run has gotten a update that according to the logs fixed many problems with ics. Maybe it fixed the swipe bug?
I didnt know a tap tap 5 is coming. Is it coming to android too? Im very addicted to tap tap and i play it alot ever since the tiesto week. One of the song that came in tiesto week was my favorite and many more good songs have come so i play it now more than ever
And ill try sandvolts rom and will cross my fingers hoping that all my other games work as well as angry birds should work.
Hope also the update that has come has fixed the swipe/autodeath bug.
Edit: Aw, sandvolts ics beta doesnt work with usb tether!
I really need usb tether cuz without it i cant have internet on my pc.
I'm using Sandvold's ICS Beta Rom 0.10.1. Seems okay for games so far. And some games you've got no choice but to wait for the developer to sort out the bugs the game has with ICS.
sandvolds ics beta 0.10 is best. i have played even mass effect without any lags or freezes.

Temple run update do fix the swipe bugs. However, its still rather unresponsive sometimes. However I'm sure it would be fixed in the near future.
According to Tapulous, they are working on Tap Tap 5, hence they haven't be updating Tap Tap 4, I don't know if it will come to android or not though. They only assured iOS. Although hopefully it will come to Android, I missed playing it ever since I switched to ICS.
And for sandvold ICS, although usb tether don't work yet, why not just use personal hotspot? It does the same as usb tether.

Confirming that the following games work fine with Nikez Lente 1.0.1a5 ICS ROM:
-Temple Run
-Angry Birds
-Basketball Shoot
-Cut the rope
-Fruit Ninja
There is a known bug that for some cases there is no sound in Temple Run, dev is working on it.
BCM von dk_zero-cool. I'm running RC3.6U0 it has the same new adreno-libs as sandvolds port and at least angrybirds and templerun a working very well, touchpad is working, too. it really sad that the phone hasn't a real multitouchsensor.
Oh very nice, i dont care so much about the sound just want the game to work. Thanks aloot for tge info. I will definitly try it out.

Hey guys,
Anyone else experiencing their phone to be slightly slower AT times then when on Sense 4.0? Just sometimes my home screen and other parts of the system will just feel generally slower. The camera seems slower and the 'Developer Options' are really glitch now true. Tell the screen to flash when there is an update and the whole system becomes unresponsive. well, you are the first one from whom i have heard that after installing sense 4.1 your phone is slower...
mate 4.1 is lot faster than sense 4.0 and is locked at 60 fps
try factory reset once and check if these problems still exist
have been using sense 4.1 for more than 2 weeks now and just loving it
Actually it is away faster in the screen switching, it is extremly smooth. However the app drawer lags alittle.
But overall it's faster.

Try a factory reset or if your rooted with a custom recovery just format cache and dalvic cache. Then Give the phone 2 full charges from at least 20% in at least a 2 day span.
It could be a bad app or mod that is causing the issues. Usually it's never a bad ota update that slows the device. Also I recommend a backup program.

Not so great after all...
While I don't notice that my phone is any slower after the update to 4.1, the update hasn't solved my WiFi issue. Which I wasn't really expecting it to, but they did say it should even out the signal, it hasn't. I couldn't tell the difference about the 3D widget stacking or whatever on the stock launcher, 'nor could I notice a difference when opening the app drawer or swiping through homescreens.
That is not to say that the update didn't do anything. I know that benchmarks don't prove much of anything, some argue that they do. I don't really care too much for them, but out of curiosity sake, I ran some. Now, my phone is bone stock, I can't unlock the bootloader because my volume rocker cable is broken. So I'm not rooted, nothing. With Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0.3 I scored horribly, worse than the One X in the stats, at about 3900. I don't know what was going on, but I ran that twice and got the same result. Anyway, after the update to 4.1 and 4.0.4 I scored 5928 and that is with Apex Launcher and Holo Locker locked in memory.
Take from the benchmarks what you will! The 4.1 update does not work miracles, but it's a step in the right direction!

I am very serious, I found it to be very smooth to begin with on 4.0... I didn't have my screens filled with lots of widgets or shortcuts though. That might make a difference. I haven't tried using a livewallpaper yet either. I do notice that Recent Apps seems to be a lot smoother, but with the stock launcher, I don't see much. The app drawer might be quicker to open than before.

I'm experiencing the same after my ota - its great that the menu bar has gone but the home screen and recent apps just feel a bit sluggish.
For example, when opening recent apps, the current app will appear but other apps to the left of it appear after a slight delay. Swiping home screens is definitely more sluggish here; before ota it was a bit jerky (when swiping, home screen would occasionally jump from one position to another, but in general they followed finger location exactly), but now they lag slightly behind my finger, and instead of jumping positions they pause for a moment and then continue to move smoothly. I think this could be caused by the business calendar app though, it usually only happens on that page...
The problem with the launcher closing when a few apps are open is still just as bad as it was before (and still takes about 15-20 seconds to load the launcher again, which does seem a bit excessive...)
But despite the complaining above, it's really not the end of the world and I don't think it's worth bothering to do a factory reset and see if it works although I'm gradually growing to hate sense and might build up the courage to root and flash some experimental roms soon...

Hi,
Had the same problem. Turns out at least on my device after update to 2.17 the dev option "Don't keep activities" was ticked.
I know it wasn't before.
Wonder if it was a battery saving measure. Anyway made my phone sluggish so I turned it off, all back to normal.

Hello there, I was wondering if anybody has had any issues with first person games on the new Cyanogenmod Version 10.1-20130203-unofficial-d710? The android version is 4.2.1.
So my games load up fine from the market, however when I open them and start playing them I seem to loose control with my character. For instance on both games, COD black ops zombies, I have limited control over my character, it freezes/lags during gameplay... I can't fully play the game, this is the same for the amazing spiderman game. If anybody has an idea about this I'd like to hear it. Thanks

Try updating to 2/15 or 2/18 if you don't mind doing a full wipe. These two builds are very stable and should have no issues with games
OK well thanks for your prompt reply. The fed 18 version has a lot of problems; for instance it does not allow you to do screen rotation. Still the same issues with games. Feb 15 runs very smoothly, is very fast. however it did not solve my game problems as well. What happens is the screen moves all over the place. I know that I lose control of the buttons. My hunch is this this is a interface issue between the CyanogenMod launcher and the games themselves. If you are experiencing any issues with 3d games such as call of duty and GTA 3 I like to know..

Hmm, ok that's good to hear. Yes I was referring Call of Duty Black ops Zombies. I want to check and see what you did to install the rom. Did you use the El29 Rom to install it use odin one click? Does your rom when it boost up say GT I9100... Ok so I used the video from qbking to install the rom, the only thing that he did differently than me was that he used mobile odin. So your not having any control issues huh... Any ways, I'd appreciate to know how you downloaded the file. So far everything runs smoothy except for gameplay where I loose control of my character, experience freezing/lags/shuttering so I'm really trying to this annoying problem out of my way.
