That function is a function of the app itself so it'd be up to the app devs to add that functionality. Check with the app dev if you want it in a particular app.

Alternate dialer

I think the gnex dialer is beautiful but I hate how it does not have t9 predictive text for finding a contact very quickly. What alternate dialer does everybody recommend?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Dialer One gives you this option and seems to work fine on ICS.
Check out exDialer - a MIUI style dialer; T9; supports themes (including a nice ICS theme). I had been using DialerOne for 2 years and recently made the move to exDialer with no regrets
I have tried dialer one in the past but just downloaded exdialer with the ics theme and love it, thanks!

Contapps. Great Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, and Linkeden integration, too!

+1 to this. I love it. it even has an ICS theme if you like the light blue color.
TouchPal Dialer is also nice.

Notigo is nice so that it can clear the missed calls. The zip will no longer work with modern versions of CWM but you can still extract the apk from the zip and put it into /system/app yourself and reset the permissions for the same effect.
Can someone extract the main ics dialer's icon and replace the exdialer app icon with it? Then thankfully post the apk here?

It's exactly what I just finished doing so it looks like I'm still using the stock dialer/contact apps. Couldn't be easier.
Typically I would use an Alt Launcher like Go Launcher, pin the exDialer to the bar, change the icon, then hide it in the main drawer.
Find attached exdialer v59 with main icon changed (the one from default phone app). Resigned. Please uninstall existing version on phone before installing or you will receive a certificate mismatch error.

Most ROMs have t9 dialing enabled in the stock phone app now. This was a big pet peeve of mine too, and one of the deciding factors to flash Gummy Nex. That, and the enabled AOSP tethering.
I'm using android Revolution that doesn't have t9 dialing plus others may prefer the Exdialer.

Only works on system apps. Browser, My Verizon, Calculator, GApps, etc.
The new version of Apex Launcher lets you hide apps from the app draw

Samsung stock apps

Just flashed cm10 and loving it but missing a couple of apps that were on the stock Rom
Anyone have the apk for these apps or know where I can get them?
- rotating live wallpaper (where you can select your own photos)
- smart alarm with gradual wake-up
- battery percentage apk
I really miss those apps but otherwise love cm 10
Thanks!

I believe that most, if not all, Samsung Touchwiz apps have a different framework than that of AOSP so they're not compatible on AOKP/CM10 (other way around still works, you can use AOSP apps on any Sammy ROM). There are most likely similar apps to the ones you're currently searching on the Play Store.
They are Touchwiz specific apps made by Samsung.. not just missing from cm 10.. they wont work without TW.. there are some ROMs on here that blend aokp look/feel with TW, try one of those. On a side note, this is really a Q&A thread, Apps/themes section is for posting actual apps and themes.. not just asking about them. I know our forum is blended and not like that but it is supposwd to be.

Smart Statusbar for AOSP ROMS

I got really tired of waiting for Samsung to release the JB update for my Bell Canada S3 and installed Task's AOKP ROM. I love the ROM and prefer the stock Google experience but miss some of the cool features Samsung added, mainly the ability to show the status bar in a fullscreen apps such as a game. Here is a video for those that don't know about this feature.
I have always been annoyed that i had to press the home button and exit out of my game/video to answer a text, change songs or whatever else might pop up on the notification bar and found myself using this allot when i got the S3, switch to AOKP i needed this back. Its just so simple and i'm surprised its not a native feature in Android.
But thankfully there is an app for that called Smart Statusbar which works well on my S3 and its free. I have tried this in MX Player and all my ga,mes like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Dead Trigger etc and it works on all.
TIP: Swipe from the bezel down and not from the top of the touch screen.
Thanks for the info. I am downloading the app now and going to try it out.

this was one of the features i missed the most coming from iOS to android.
Thank you very much!
Nice find!

just to point out it works on Android 4.2
Hopefully not a huge necropost, but this feature actually wasn't removed.
You have to swipe TWICE in stock TW. I used this app for a while before discovering it here:

I'd have fewer apps installed, but to each his own.

Kitkat 4.4 launcher on the Galaxy Note 3

I tried the other method on xda and notice that Google now was freezing up on voice command. Here is the method that got it fully working on my Verizon Galaxy Note 3
1. Download and extract the two files.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/j8h0siy229ixsni/4.4 launcher.zip
2. Install both apk files
3. Enjoy
Update: If you are having trouble getting the "Ok Google" voice activation to work, here is something to try.
1. In the Google launcher, go into settings > voice > offline speech recognition.
It may say there are no language packages installed, but in reality, it just needs to be updated. It seems to be buggy, but this is how I got it updated.
2. Select the "all" tab.
3. Install the English (us) package if it will let you.
If it doesn't, download English (UK), select the "installed" tab, and the us package should now show up as installed. To make sure the English (us) is updated, simply uninstall and download it again.
Once this is updated, you should be able to press the home button and see "OK Google" in the Google now search bar. Hope this helps!
Does this include Google now on the home screen like on the Nexus 5?

If you move an icon or widget to the next screen, it will add a screen. To have additional screens, you have to have something on it. If they are blank, they are deleted.
Awesome ... thank you for the info. Great find this launcher is butter

I certainly see this being a love/hate thing. I like more control of my launcher, so I am sticking with Nova. I do like the swipe to Google Now and the "Ok Google" options, though. I setup a gesture in Nova for Google Now, but don't know of any solutions for the "Ok Google" option. I would LOVE to be able to get the "Ok Google" to work with the phone on or off.
I like this launcher, it does run very smooth but I ended up going back to Nova. I like a little more customization with my launcher and Nova Prime gives me everything I could need and more. It is still a nice launcher though, to bad it doesn't have some more options.
Love it. Had some problems with it crashing or google search crashing randomly so I tried some of the version on the market which are quite good. Some little stability fixes for devices and such but for the most part 100% AOSP.
I was able to install this on my note 3, but I wasn't able to install the 2nd APK. Also, the notification bubbles no longer show up on my email, messages, Facebook, etc..... Does anyone know what could be wrong? I am not rooted.
Notification bubbles are a touchwiz feature that's why they don't show up
