[Q] Can't detect SIM card when installing ICS roms - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've tried to install JJ's Hybrid's rom and Arconium ICS but with both of them my phone can't detect SIM card, I've got a XPERIA ARC and was using doomlords v4 kernel. I tried it in a friend's XPERIA ARC S with different carrier but didn't work neither. So I've had to revert to ginger in both phones so they detect SIM card again.
Any ideas about what could be the problem?? I've read somewhere about a file called efs wich contains important phone data and that maybe I have to make a backup and copy it via root explorer after installing ICS. The problem is that I don't find this file while in ginger.
Your help will be much appreciated.
P.D.: sorry for my English

Anyone? Please?

[Q] Unlock won't work

Hi I hope I'm in the right section. being a newbie I can't post in the development thread.
I have a Galaxy Wonder i8050, 2.3.6, Baseband XXKL3, Kernal XXLA2.
I've tried both auto and manual methods. The upgrade service won't recognize the update.zip file on the SD card using recovery mode and the unlock23.exe method can't access root.
The phone is supplied by O2, will this have anything to do with it?
Thanks
Tim B

[q] need help on flashing a custom rom

Hey guys, frankly im a noob.. Im running on a stock ICS, stock kernel on my Sony Ericsson Arc.. running really slow and I have decided to flash a custom rom onto it for the first time. I need your help guys on where and how do I start the process.. there are a few que i have in mind such as
1) do i need to unlock the bootloader of my hp?
2) there is something called internal sd..and im so not sure what is it actually.. the arc doesnt have an internal storage like the galaxy s2 and etc as to my understanding..so what does it mean by i have to copy the zip rom files onto the internal sd?
3) i thought of flashing cyanogenmod 9 onto the arc but i would like to ask on your opinion on the rom and what would your choice of rom be?
hope to hear from u guys soon...thank you in advance..
well bootloader (e.g the BIOS settings in our computers) is just like the police officer that controls which programmes should start, what should run etc. although unlocking your bootloader will void your warranty however, it can be relocked by ways, our dev's have shown.
NEED---- it will help you install (also known as flash) custom (your own) kernels (interacter between software and hardware) and roms (interacter between humans and softwares). thus you will be able to customize anything and everything. and without the risk of bricking (make it no more useful thn a brick) your phone
well u must have read xmooded 90.5 rom requirements hence you must have been asking this, i dont know what that means but the externel sd card even works superb with that rom.
lastly i would suggest you use jj'shybrid rom with stock kernel and cwm installed. it is as good as cm9 in ui and almost the best in battery life (battery drain is about 0.2% per hour when idle)
hit thanks if i helped you

[Q] Need to ask a couple of questions...

I recently suffered a HDD failure on my main PC and as a result, I lost all my Arc stuff.
I also recently bought a new micro SD card for my phone and I thought that now would be a good time to 'reformat' my phone too.
I'm currently running CM9 and thought it would be good to change to either CM10, AOKP JB etc.
However, I have some issues.
Firstly, I'm not sure which drivers I'll need to make sure that everything will work properly when I 'reformat' my phone. Are these what I need? - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582554
The second thing is, I no longer have the .ftf file for 4.1.B.0.587 that I can flash via FlashTool to start fresh and the Mediafire links on xda no longer work. So if anybody could re-upload them or point me to where I can find another copy that would be awesome. It's for an LT15i by the way.
I think that's all for now.
Thanks everyone.
Forget the .ftf question, I found a few links here on xda, my bad.
For your driver question the link you posted should have the necessary drivers. You should also install PC Companion and Update Service as those also contain drivers for each phone (correct me if I'm wrong on that)

[Q] Xperia Arc S LT18A root help 4.0.4

Hello everyone this is my first post so I'm glad to have all the help I can get as I am completely clueless on rooting(Real Noob on this really).
Ok so the reason why I want to root my Xperia Arc S is because I want to be able to completely put apps in the sd card and keep downloading apps without worrying about deleting app data/cache or even whole apps to get more apps installed. The Xperia Arc S's internal memory is really annoying. Even though you can move an app to the sd card part of it will still be in internal memory which will eventually fill up. So basically having apps on this phone without custom rom or being rooted is very limited.
Yes I've watched the user registration agreement video thing. I have been looking for 2 days now on how to root my phone but unfortunately because of my phone's model(LT18A) and it being 4.0.4(which I kept reading is unrootable), it is extremely hard. It's like, I am the only person in the world who has an Xperia Arc S LT18A ICS 4.0.4. I've found very few articles on how to root xperia arc s LT18A 4.0.4. I think first I gotta downgrade it to 4.0.3? Even if I find one, it's for LT18i(like 95% of all the xperia arc s) and most of the links for LT18A don't work anymore
So how do I root it? I got flashtool but the only firmwares I got are the one for LT18i and x10.
Xperia Arc S
Model: LT18A
Build number: 4.1.B.0.431
Android Version 4.0.4
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Read some sticky guides in general
If you want to unlock bootloader, rooting is veryyyy easy then.

Ok now I finally got to unlock the bootloader of the Xperia Arc S LT18a which I found really hard. Now I understand this enables you to install custom ROMs but the phone still needs to be rooted which I haven't done as I've tested with ROM manager.
So.....What does having it unlocked really do? If I have my phone rooted but the bootloader's locked, then I still wouldn't be able to install custom ROMs? Is that it?
Also, now with my bootloader unlocked, will I be able to access recovery mode like how people used to do with the Sony PSP?
Now to the hard part. To root Xperia Arc S 4.0.4 LT18A.
4.0.4 - Unrootable and have to downgrade. The problem is finding ftf files is really hard only because I have an LT18A model which is like being a unicorn..
I'll spend one more entire night looking for that rom and I'll let you know how I'm doing.
