Is there any way to force the market to update to google play? I recently reflashed my phone and it doesn't seem to be updating itself any time soon. I tried installing 3.5.15 or whatever manually and that got no nowhere aside from force closes
Have you tried pushing the application into your system apps first, then installing? Also don't download the apk on your phone use a computer.

Since I have updated market to play store my phone keeps freezing. When I reboot I get 3 or 4 messages saying that ADW launcher is not responding which I select wait in the options. After about 30 seconds the screen freezes and I have to remove the battery. I have removed the update using manage applications but whenever I open market I am redirected to the play store website rather than the app. I am running the latest version of Cyanogenmod 7 for the desire. Has anyone else had this problem.
I've not heard of this problem before but if it is just the play store and not the ROM or anything else then you could download one of the versions of the old market which doesn't auto update to google play. i will find a link to an apk and post it here if i can.
I have tried uninstalling play store and restored market 3.4.4 using titanium backup. When I open it it immediately tried to update to Play store. I have also tried installing market 2.3.3 with titanium backup but when I open it it just redirects me to the play store website via the browser app.
Freeze "Market Updater" with Titanium Backup. That will prevent the Market (3.4.4) from auto-updating. It's a temporary fix until when you can figure out what the real issue is.
I tried installing this Google Play Store v3.9.16 from androidpolice.com. The article says to download and install just like any other apk. After installing, it just quickly opens and closes. Should I have installed it another way? It installs and works fine on my LG G2x.
The same happened with me. I downloaded the apk from http://tutznet.com/google-play-store-updated-v3916-remove-app-logs-expandable-notifications.html and transferred the apk to my phone. When I clicked on the install button, the installer kept on going. Even after 15 minutes it was still installing. I restarted the phone even with the installer running and the update was installed. I think that the apk file is not compiled properly. You should wait for the play store to update itself. I just got the automatic update 2-3 hours after doing this.:good:
Hey there,
i am really having problems installing the Google Play Store.
I first of all tried installing it via KindleFree App, but it directly closes after 1sec.
I even tried the manual adding via Vending and playstore apk, same result
i read, that some users tried it several times and just by accident it worked somehow, so i tried it like 20 times, but still doesnt work.
it closes all the time directly.
One thing to mention is, that when i install Play Store after a reboot it renames itself to "Market".
Any ideas what to do?
Running StariRom 8.3.0
edit: i even got notification that updates for my apps are available, so in the background it somehow seemed to work, but just cant open it
Hello,
I've recently upgraded my Sony Xperia Acro S to android 5.0. Everything was fine, until i tried to install google play store. I downloaded .apk file from apkmirror, installed it, everything seemed fine, but when I try to open it, the app just shows a white window and immediately shuts down. It doesn't even load or anything. I tried to download different versions of google play store - new and old ones, and tried to import the apk file from computer but result is the same for every version. Any tips/ suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Google apps don't work that way. You need to flash them via recovery, and they are separate for separate Android versions. If You are on Android 5.0, You need to flash these gapps via TWRP, and if on 5.1, then these gapps. Although You need to uninstall play store completely first.
Hello All,
I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F) (Single Sim). I have updated to latest version from OTA. But after updating it automatically reseted the device. It does have other Google Applications like Play Service, Play Music etc. but the Play Store was missing. I downloaded Play Store apk from different websites. but after installing the play store, it doesnt appear in app drawer and app manager. I also tried to open the App instantly after installing but it gives 'No App Can Perform This Task' error.
I downloaded the latest firmware from Samfirm, but still it has the same issue.
Can anyone help me to fix this issue.
Thanks in Advance.
