Hi
Please can you help me to install chainfire and plugins in my archos 80G9
It works for hd games?
Many thanks

This guide is specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S II, but it's the same procedure for the Archos G9 series. (Or there are plenty of other guides on Google.) A couple of G9-specific notes:
Your device must be rooted in order to install Chainfire 3D
Place the plugin zip files in any folder on the device, NOT on the SD Card. Due to it's non-standard mount location, Chainfire 3D can not find plugins there.
I have used it successfully with a couple of games, but I can't remember which ones they are just now.
I have the CINEMA plugin (cinema_6KH8F1MYDCxxxx_plugin.aos) but how to install ?
I did manual on archos site but if i disconnect USB nothing happend..:
1. Connect your Archos device to your computer.
Using the USB cable, plug your Archos device into your computer. Navigate to ‘my computer’ and double click the ARCHOS device in the list. Double click ‘internal storage’ to enter the onboard memory of the device.
2. Copy the plug-in onto the Archos storage device.
Copy the Plug-in (.aos extension), either by drag and drop or by copy and paste, into the window that is now shown. Not into any of the existing folders but just into the ‘internal storage’ (this is called the root level).
3. Activate the plug-in.
Unplug the USB cable from your PC. Your ARCHOS device will automatically start the update process that will install the plug-in. You will be prompted to re-plug in the USB cable in order to power the device during the update process. The update will take about one minute. Do not unplug the USB cable powering the device during the update as this could potentially render your device unusable.
There is this guide ( [Tutorial] Chainfire 3D Installation (Root necessary) ) on page 1 of the G9 Development Section.
TIP: The search function is your friend LOL

If you have a device which is not recognizable by the PC:
You need a 32-bit Windows (I used WinXP VMware player image from my Win7 64-bit)
In my case connecting the device to the PC did not resulted in access to the memory, only the drive letters appeared, but could not be mounted.
At the same time, the RKandroid tool did not recognize the device at all.
So, we need to reflash the archos 7ht. For this we need to enter update mode - and here is the trick:
1. Shutdown the tablet (in my case - pin reset shutdowns it)
2. LOCK the sliding button (for me this was the tricky part to find out)
3. Connect the USB cable and the powercable.
4. The winXP should detect a new USB device. Make him happy - give him the rk28usb-new drivers to install.
5. Now the RKAndroidTool.exe should be able to detect the RKandroid USB device.
Ok, if you've got this far, now we need to re-flash it. For safety, let's do this with the default Archos 7HT update image (which can be downloaded from the Archos website)
I think that the RKAndroidTool.exe needs extracted files from update.img. For this, extract them using AFPTool.exe:
AFPTool.exe -unpack update.img .
(or use the extractupdate.bat)
Now, we can finish the reflashing:
6. Start RKAndroidTool.exe.
7. If the extracted files from update.img are placed in rockdev folder and in image subfolder, the RKAndroidTool.exe should find them automatically.
8. Execute. Make sure the device is plugged to AC, because the process takes some time. IF THE PROCESS STOPS UNEXPECTEDLY YOU GET A HIGH-TECH BRICK (or so everyone says, I didn't test it).
9. You should see the device responding and starting the update process. It will take some time, dont ruch it.
~20 seconds – copy firmware to device,
~30 seconds – device firmware installation,
~3-8 minutes - First boot
10. The Archos Tablet should ask you to recalibrate the screen, and load the OS.
That's it. Good luck!

Hi,
Where should the rockdev directory be located? I can't get RKAndroidtool.exe to find the unpacked image files.
Thanks
I do not have Lock Sliding Bottom.
I have Archos Home Tablet 7 model: A101B2
Any ideas how to unbrick this device?
This is tablet of my mother in law. :-(
Hi people
I have the galaxy s2 gt-i9100 and i recently bought the OTG cable
when i plug it in it display'sUSB host cable connected)
but when i try to plug in any thing it does not work
for example: Flash memory, keybored, ps3 controller.
can any body tell what is the problem??
P.S. I am using gingerbread 2.3.3 the original Rom
do i need a specific Rom to use it??
Aint no body can help me ???
which rom are you on ?
and try opening dialer ..
enter *#7284#
select
"UART MODEM" and select "USB PDA n restart
Stock Samsung roms are pretty useless for OTG cables, at best you get FAT formatted flash drives and thats about it. You will have to use a custom kernel if you want things like xbox joypads, keyboard etc.
Below are the steps I used to get things like mouse, usb joypads (i use wireless xbox), wii mote etc working properly on my S2.
1. Update to ICS, use Kies for this.
2. Root you phone. For rooting I used the following method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Rooting
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip from http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
- SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted
Unroot
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip from http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
- SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard
Choose and Install SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Unrooted
Main reason I used this method is that it doesn't change the recovery console keeping it on stock which helps if you ever had to return phone for repair. This method essential temp loads up a custom recovery console (CWM), roots the phone and once rebooted the stock console is loaded. Another plus point is that it really is stupidly easy to install
3. Install ktool from the market. (Root and superuser app is required for this tool to run)
4. Use ktool to backup current kernel. Not essential but handy if you want to go back to stock.
5. Flash new kernel using ktool
The kernel I used is Dorimanx's from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219 . Note just exact the downloaded zip file and you need the file zImage from the boot folder. This must be placed in the root of your sdcard (phone memory). If following above steps this will overwrite your backed up kernel so make sure you backup your err backup
The process of backing up and flashing a new kernel takes like a whole 10 seconds. Once done simply reboot your phone. All being well you will see the Dorimanx's splash screen and the phone will boot as normal. Checking in the Setting > About Phone under kernel you should see something like "3.1.0-rc8-Siyah-Dorimanx-v5.83-B6-SGII-PWR-CORE" as an example (latest Dorimanx) showing this the new kernel is infact been used.
Then ofcourse if you want to test it plug in a usb device like a mouse for example.
If you want to return to 100% stock.
1. Use ktool to flash your backed up backup zImage
2. Follow the instructions above to unroot.
I have just gone through all the steps as I was writing this to confirm it all works fine.
ok Thank u
I'll try to do what i understood
Recommended way is to first connect the USB device to the cable and then attaching the cable to your device. See if this helps.

How is that going to help when 99.9% of the stock kernels don't allow usb host connections?

99.9% stock kernels don't allow usb host?
Stock kernels do allow USB host but support less number of devices than custom kernels. Stock supports fat32 drives, mouse and keyboard atleast. NTFS drives, game controllers are not supported OOTB by stock kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
What I meant to say was 99.9% dont support anything on the usb otg and not host. Other than fat32 UFDs, only a small percentage will allow keyboards and mice on stock (and reading this forums show its a very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very small percentage (the power of a million))
I was one of these users. Using o2 i9100p phone nothing worked, best I managed for external connectivity was a 16Gb fat32 ufd and a MS BT media keyboard.
Soon as I changed to a custom kernel it allowed me to use the following (on top of the above)
Wired Mouse
Wired Keyboard
Wireless xbox 360 joypad (using USB/BT Joy Center)
Wired xbox joypad (using USB/BT Joy Center)
Wiimote & nunchuck (some free wii mote app from store)
And just tested now I have gone back to stock kernel and sure enough non of the above work anymore (including mouse/keyboard)

Noob to XDA so forgive if this post is in the wrong area. I am at my wits end.
I have screen shots but cannot get them to attach.
Kindle Fire to PC connectivity lost after ROM install (Recognized as different device GT-P1000) and I cannot install drivers to this device
The Good News, Bad News and Solution Attempts…
The Good News.
I installed the GedeROM CM9 ICS 4 (GedeROM ICS v4.04 CM9 Kernel v3.0.21) to my 1st generation Kindle Fire and it runs great. It is much smoother at running Air for Android with an App that I have been developing. The USB Host works great with my Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo with the OTG USB Dongle and Logitech nano receiver. I would like to keep using this ROM as it is very functional for my needs.
The Bad News.
Now, let’s get to the frustrating part. No more drag and drop. After the install, my PC no longer recognizes the it as a Kindle Fire as a drive or sdcard. It recognizes it as a GT-P1000 (Galaxy Tab P1000). Because of this mis-reporting to the PC device manager the KF and sdcard are no longer visible as a drive on the PC for me to browse, drag and drop items.
The Device Manager sees the
---Android Phone > Android ADB Interface
or depending on the driver
---Android Phone > Android Composite ADB Interface
and no where in the Device Manager does it show the Kindle Fire any longer.
The only place the device is listed is in
---Control Panel > Hardware > Devices and Printers > GT-P1000(!). (Unknown Device) And I cannot install drivers on this device.
Attempted Solutions.
1. Driver Reinstall(s) with and without SDK.
I tried reinstalling the drivers for the KF and this changed it from Android Composite ABD Interface to Android ADB Interface. (no luck) I reinstalled the Composite interface and still no KF. I also tried a few different versions of drivers up and down the spectrum trying to get this installed. Including trying to install a GT-P1000 driver from Samsung. Still no luck.
2. Android Debugging
I tried to turn on and off and on etc the Android debugging in Settings > Developer Options > Android Debugging. No Luck.
3. Turn on USB Mass Storage
Unable to do this as the options are simply just not there.
4. Reboots
Countless reboots (PC and KF) and cache wipes with and without the KF attached.
5. Different ROM
I tried a different ROM for Jelly Bean 4.2 and it was successful and recognized as a KF and I could browse to the folders on the sdcard. However this ROM was so striped down that it was not really functional for me as there was no file explorer, market app, or any way to browse to the sdcard to install any app that I could drag and drop into the sdcard in the hopes of installing a file explorer and market app. The issue seems to be with the GedeROM CM9 that I am using.
Am I going to have to try multiple ROMS until something works?
Specs:
Kindle Fire (1st Gen, spring of 2012, original one purchased in December 2011, but suffered screen smash)
GedeROM ICS v4.04 CM9 Kernel v3.0.21
The PC I am using is running Windows 7 Professsional.
Work Around Found... Sort of.
I have tried several different ROMS today.
I have found that they just dont have the stability and functionality that I like with the version that I am running. SO.... that being said, I found a work around. I can keep the existing ROM in place and if I need to copy something to the SD Card, I can just boot into TWRP and mount the USB drive, make the file copies and then reboot. It's a little annoying, but none so much as not being able to do it at all.
Thanks for the input.

GAMEPAD
1. Download the update file « update.img » to your PC.
2. Connect the USB cable to your Archos and your computer.
3. Copy the « update.img » to the root of the Internal Storage. Do not place it into any folder of the Archos, just to the root level of the device.
4. Unplug your device of the PC.
5. The Archos will find the update automatically and display a message box offering to install this new firmware. Before tapping on "Install", you need to connect the charger/adapter DC-IN to your device.

This update seems to have fixed the diagonals issue as well as the button combos. System seems less laggy as well but I need longer to confirm.
gamepad update
I'm unable to update via my PC. It keeps asking me which programming I wish to open/save with. Any recommendations would be most appreciated, as this gamepad sounds as glitchy as everyone elses

You're not meant to run it on your PC. Just copy it to the gamepad.

Yes; however I've tried downloading it direct to the tablet (won't let me move or open the download), I've tried downloading to PC to then attach the tablet for the update (no good). I'm missing something basic in the process e.g. the program I'm downloading the update with etc.

I just downloaded through Chrome on the tablet then used the ARCHOS file manager app that is installed to move it from the downloads folder to the top level folder.
Thanks jonnyapps, it worked. Now all we need is another update to resolve the SD issue!
People, please start posting here so the Archos Gamepad but also the Elements line to have a separate forum

If you get the errors that state that your phone is not recognizable or the drivers on your new PC is
A. Cannot be found
B. Any other message that doesnt state "Your Device Is Ready To Be Used"
Then follow this guide
1. This is really simple and easy, CHANGE THE CABLE. Maybe the cable you are using cannot transfer data correctly or its just broken or it just doesn't like you.
2. Some have reported that using a USB 3.0 port on the PC in question may not work correctly. Try using a USB 2.0 port instead if possible.
3. Now this is what works the best if you use custom cooked roms.
-Launch the phone key pad on your note and press *#7284# (don’t forget to start with that * symbol!)
-When you press the last pound sign (#) this will bring up an option that will allow you to change your USB connection settings (modem or PDA) – change it to PDA.
-At the bottom there is a button that says Qualcomm USB. Click on it.
-In that menu click on MTP + ADB option.
-Save and reset.
-Wait for your phone to restart.
-Plug the micro USB cable to the Note 2 and the the other end to your PC or Mac
-Let your computer down load and install drivers.
-Once installing is done, unplug then replug phone.
-There should be a USB symbol on your phone in the status bar - click on it. It should ask if you wsnd to use mtp or ptp. Click MTP
-At this point your PC should open the phone’s folders in explorer similar to the screenshot above.
Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight.
i do not take credit finding all of this by my own, i used google.
