Thanks for the Reply.. I read it a couple of times but i dint get what to do..
Will try again..

press the back button at blue light to choose boot.

Do you have install other CWM ?
A hat installed the Xperia CWM Auto-installer first, before i flashted the doomkernel, so i wasn't able to use the recovery of the doomkernel.
I just flashed the firmware again, then the doomkernel, and was able to use the recovery from doomkernel.

Is see that the Xperia CWM Auto-installer is from Nobody At all's CWM app.
I hat the same problem, and uninstalling Nobody At all's CWM app won't work, because uninstalling removes the app, not the flashed CWM. I believe de file /system/bin/chargemon has changed during the flash of CWM, but don't remove it! I solved it to flash the stock FW again, whit WotanClient. Here a LINK how to flash whit WotanClient. The gay in the YouTube clip explains how to root a phone, but you also can see how to flash whit WatonClient. After flashing whit the WotanClient, you can install the DoomKernel again, and now Doomlords recovery shut work.

[Q] How to reboot into recovery mode?

Hello everybody,
I managed to install the clockworkmod recovery for the Xperia play.
But I don't know how to reboot into recovery mode.
I searched a lot but I can't find the key combination for rebooting into fastboot/bootloader
or recovery mode.
Please help.
Turn device off. When off, press the power button, and start tapping the back button untill device boots into recovery.

The device just booted up normally.

I see you posted in the CWM thread, did you boot the recoveryPLAY.img? if so you dont have CWM installed, thats a temp image, your ment to boot from fastboot every time you want to use recovery. You need to flash a kernel with recovery embedded, if your using a r800i with the latest firmware, try doomlords kernel.

What is it, unlike other android device, on the play recovery is held on /boot partition. This is the same partition as the kernel. So if you was to just flash a recovery, this would overwrite /boot partiton, and because there would be no kernel, the device wouldnt boot. So kernel and recovery have to be combined into one boot.img.
That recoveryPLAY.img, NEVER FLASH IT, alway boot it. If you flash it, it will corrupt your /boot partition.

I can't flash Clockworkmod recovery with ROM manager
I can't flash Clockworkmod recovery with ROM manager.
It says me that I have to install a Clockworkmod based recovery manually.
How can I do it?
As they said u should boot custom kernel (like eg. Doomkernel) to have recovery. I think there is no cwm for play working with stock kernel, or maybe is but it cant be booted.

What's a kernel and what i have to do?
Hi, I've just rooted my Play and installed CWM using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ..
I've installed CWM with no issues (or so the app says) but I can't boot into Recovery. There's an option in the app to reboot into recovery; but all that does it reboot the device normally (except that there's no boot animation). Also tried tapping back continuously during boot and volume down but still nothing.
Is this going to be a kernel issue? If so how should I go about getting the appropriate kernel on my phone?
As the says in description: reboot phone and when it shows sony ericsson logo u should wait for blue led and than start pressing any key an it should boot to recovery

Kernel is a part of phone system which is connecting rom with hardware (i think) there is some custom kernels which is usually (always?) prerooted and has builtin recovery. With custom one u can eg. Overclock and/or undervolt ur cpu
U need to find one here on xda and than boot it using fastboot - in kernel's thread should be said how to do it.

flash one of them in fastboot mode.
you can choose doomlord, keiran, cm7, cm9, icx, miui, mjolnir and else
There is an app on the Google Play store called Xperia CWM Auto Installer. It automatically installs CWM.

Help:Is this a bootloop?

I unlocked my bootloader via omnius, installed doomkernel and rebooted with no problem, then from recovery did a wipe cache/dalvik and then installed Arconium 8.1
Now i cant get passed the doomkernel startup image, it just freezes there and i have to remove the battery. I also cant access recovery.
Im on baseband 64, had Team Stock Rom installed, and used CWM Auto-Installer 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2. (these were installed while bootloader was locked)
Do you know how to use fast boot? If so I would suggest you use the kernel provided with arconium 8.1 .
Open a cmd window easiest way is to browse to the location where fastoot is located, paste the kernel usually called boot.img in the same folder hold the shift key on your keyboard and press right click and select open command window here. Shut down your phone and then while holding the menu key on your phone plug in the USB cable. Then in the command prompt type fastboot flash boot boot.img
It should show that the kernel was flashed and you can try and start your phone again.
Good luck
Just did that and still it freezes on doomkernel start up image... im desperate
I think the key to the problem is that I had a CWM recovery installed only for stock fw, and I installed arconium on it.
yeah "CWM Auto-Installer 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2" it is!! stock only..
I know that, but what I need is a solution. Im downloading a prerooted .62 fw, is there any other way to solve this without flashing?
Doom kernel should come pre loaded with cwm, but make sure the one ur using is arconium 8.1 because If your using the wrong kernel your phone will not boot.
Just clarify a boot loop is usually a loop of what ever logos repeating over and over so for example if I was having a boot loop in cm9 I would see the freexperia logo than the cm9 logo then freexperia logo again.

I had bootloop once while installing CM7..
and i did this...
Boot into recovery mode...WIPE DALVIK CACHE...REBOOT IN RECOVERY...
Delete data/partition....del Cache...REBOOT IN RECOVERY
And then install the zip from SD card....
Lemme know if this helps...
Good day
lol... I had the same exactly the same problem when instaliing arconium 8.1.
I just couldnt find out what to do....
so I just restored a backup using CWM

And Kajendran,
I had given the link to download kernel.sin file in the thread started by you...Did it work???

[Q] Install CWM on custom ROM?

I'm in a bit of a pickle with my Xperia PLAY.
It's bootloader is locked, but I managed to install the root app then used the auto-CWM app to get me the CWM Recovery menu and from there I installed the GBTweaked ROM.
Thing is: it seems that the ROM has erased my CWM, so now I can't get into the Recovery menu to install the wifi fixes.
Tried the auto-CWM app again (tried everything else) and it won't take. On every boot there's no CWM and the app says CWM is not installed. Tried the CWM script (that's often mentioned) with the ADB drivers, but it can't detect my PLAY.
I'm stuck!
No CWM = no wifi fix, and with no CWM I can't even resort back to the stock ROM!
Any ideas folks? I've been trying this for about 4hrs this evening...

Actually you can get back to stock without CWM. All you need is to download flashtool and find the proper ftf file for your phone model. Take a look in the development forum threads.

R800x won't boot to recovery

I have rooted an R800x, Xperia Play. Using flash tool. I had to downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3 and I want to flash a new rom. I can't flash a rom because I can't install CWM. I used X-Parts to install CWM but when I reboot the phone to recovery using X-Parts, it doesn't boot to CWM. I have tried to manually reboot to CWM using the [back] button, pushing it repeatedly but I still couldn't boot it to recovery. Can you please help me.

I too am having the same problems with my r800i, but I ftf the 2.3.3. file just to get the thing out of boot loop. I am now downloading the 4.0.4. ftf file and hopefully get that installed.

after installing cwm recovery have problem

I can't seem to find a answer for this problem. I have an xperia zl C6506 which I have unlocked bootloader and also have rooted. My problem is that I try to install cwm recovery which I can but after I do that I can get into recovery but cannot bot into stock. I then have to go in and use flashtool to kernel so I can boot again but then can't get into cwm recovery again. Need help read everything I can and tried more then once to install cwm recovery but always have same issue. Hopefully someone can help me with this because can't install custom rom. Did I miss something please help.
Sounds like the recovery you're installing isn't compatible with ROM? what ROM are you using and what kernel/recovery specifically? Are you using doomkernel? Because doomkernel comes with both TWRP and CWM and I know it works with stock. If you're not using stock, then Meow kernel?

Thanks for all your help worked like a champ. Tried it power up CWM recovery and power down TWRP recovery. Again thanks much the xperia zl is very different from all the other android smartphones I have had.
One other question I now have after installing the custom recovery is my Wi-Fi is no longer available. The doomlord kernel has made it non-usable. Any clues on how to fix this issue? I'm sorry for asking so many questions but like I said new to xperia zl.
I figured it out after I installed the doomlord kernel I then went back into CWM recovery and installed the whole zip file everything works. Any way thanks for your help without it I would have never been able to flash a rom. I'm now a very happy camper.

Do you mind helping me out i have the same problem as you. I am not sure where to put the files that are in the v17 zip. when i open them i see 3 folders and a boot.img. i have been using the flash tool up until this point. I am rooted and my bootloader is unlocked. I am just not sure how to flash the kernel so that i can get some type of recovery on y c6506 . any help would be helpful. I did a search and found this
[ how to install my kernel ] (via fastboot)
download the kernel package update.zip......i did this
save it on c:\ and extract the boot.img from the package....not sure what that means. does it just mean drag it to my deck top or something
save the boot.img to the folder containing fastboot binary....where is this folder?
flash the boot.img using fastboot:... i can use flash tool for this but when i click the lighting i check fastboot instead of flash
like i said any help would be great. And I will thank you
