You've heard of that car mode epidemic happening to evo users all across america right? well, it finally happened to me. i didn't think it would because i dont even use my usb port unless its for transferring files.
Now, ive looked all across the web and it seems to be just a hardware issue. I dont have warranty nor do i have insuarance.
Finally I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212260
and this guy in there wrote:

Here is a kernel for CM7 removing dock accessory detection based on the latest CM7 kernel. If someone wants to build a version for Sense or based on another kernel, just unselect config_usb_accessory_detect and config_dock_accessory_detect support under USB Support > USB Gadget Support > Dock Accessory Detect in the kernel config before building.

Sooo here we go. I'm finally getting desperate after dealing with this issue for sometime now.
Brief story of how I believe this happened:
A while back now I remember when Calkulin was releasing the radio updates and what not, at one time he released a TouchInput update (correct me if I'm wrong) . I remember I downloaded all of em, u know, radio, wimax, NV... so on so fourth... and I flashed the input file. Everything seemed to work great, but then I started having major touch issues. That same day I flashed I read multiple people were having issues with their touchscreen so Calk set out a previous version. I went ahead and flashed the older version and everything went back to normal... well, better than it was when it messed up. So now I'm trying to find someone who has any idea what in the world im talking about, or maybe you've had the same issue.
Still have no idea what I'm talking about? I uploaded a video on YouTube to show what I mean. =/ I should have put more of an example, but you get the idea. And boy does it get irritating especially when playing a game that requires multitouch...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXyJtrs2w9w
Anyone have any solutions? Ideas? Let me know here, or since I dont check back as often as I use to, send me an @ reply on Twitter @EvoROMBlog
I will honestly give some sort of incentive. Maybe I'll buy you an energy drink or something.
**Really wishing to find a fix for this, knowing XDA, Im sure theres someone who can figure something out.
What kind of rom are you running? Are you rooted still? Our evos are capable of 3 point and 5 point multitouch depending on which hardware you have(touch sensors). If you're on a sense rom why don't you search the dev section for NETARCHYS kernel. I believe on aosp roms it supports 5 if your hardware does but I could be wrong. The kernel will enable either 3 point or 5 point multitouch; by default HTC has it set to 3 I believe with stock kernel. Fortunately mine supports 5 point so it makes emulation very pleasant along with a great multitouch experience .
Edit: Here's the forum link to the kernel where net talks about 3 point and 5 point multitouch. There's a command you can run to see if your touch sensors can do 3 or 5.

Some have it by default some don't. I would try the latest 4.3.4 build that also has the HDMI support. I recommend the havs less version because aggressive havs seems to not play nice all the time.

Well different kernel didn't work.. I kinda figured it wasn't going to. I have a feeling its hardware related, but again I have no clue. If I can find some sort of touch input fix, I'm sure an experienced dev would know something. Thanks for trying to help tho.

Bumping my thread.I really need to figure out why my Multi-Touch is so bugged in Sense ROMs on my phone.
ok Per the "noob video" i called my mom and told her that she wasnt lying to me when she told me i was not special, but I do have a problem with this kernal let me explain
1. Which kernel build(s) (ie; bfs/cfs havs/nohavs etc) are you using with the issue?
2. What Rom are you using?
3. If known, what OTA base is your rom using (ie; is it based on 3.29, 3.30, 3.70, etc)?
4. Does the issue persist if you go back to a stable kernel build?
5. The issue being experienced (obviously ;D)
1. netarchy-toastmod-cfs-havs-nosbc-universal 4.3.1
2. Cyanogen 7
3. unknown
4. cant get back to a stable kernel
5. I am seeing pixilated lines on key pressed and slides. What I mean is when I press an icon or slide my phone or look at my battery charging it will distort a minor annoyance. Also my usb connection is no longer working it will not let me toggle between charge and disk drive
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't netarchy a kernel for a sense rom and not an aosp?
Edit - just double checked, its for a sense based rom only..
If using cm7, I would suggest tiamat or savaged zen..
you cant use that kernel with CM7. flash tiamat 4.0.5 or any other AOSP kernel. NA kernels are for sense ROMS only.
Your mom did tell you correctly because this did not belong in the dev section.
That kernel is for sense not aosp.
Use tiamat or Savaged zen or "God mode"
OH WOW Guess that is why lol. I thought I read it to say it was usable by many roms. So just flash the stock kernel and use one of the ones echarette1, and mattykinsx posted. Thanks you 2 for telling me that i messed that up.
And alaman68 I thought since it was related to that kernel I coul have posted in that kernels thread. Guessed wrong.

It would have been appropriate to post IN the kernel thread but not a new thread.
I'm NOT trying to join the backseat moderatoring wagon, just letting you know.

Oh no trust me I would not have started a brand new thread I would have tacked it on to the thread that contains the kernel and the information. I am not a forums noob and know that much. And I did not take your letting me know as a "better than you" context, but just wanted to tell why I thought posting in that thread would have been better. Nothing mean intended by you or me just helping in how to keep the board clean you were.
Now on to another question. Currently my Evo is giving me a battery life of ~5 hours before I hit ~15% and being in a job where I am constantly using my phone I can not afford to be attached to a charger for 3 hours a day. I was told by a friend that using kernels will help with battery life. If this is the case out of the ones I was told to use what would be better in terms of extending the life of my daily battery, if that is something they can in fact do?
If you're running CM7, use the Tiamat or SavagedZen kernel, hit the link in my signature for some good tips on battery conditioning and links to better battery guides.
Thank you to everyone who helped me figure out what I did wrong and thank you HipKat for that link going to read it now
First and foremost sorry about the caps, my keyboard i shorted out, so if you'll forgive me heres what i am looking for,
okay, maybe i am being picky but heres what i am looking for, i seem to love the stock rom more than others, but there are somethings that need to change,
1. A sense rom for the evo 4ge
2. Without a2sd (just very irritating)
3. With wireless n re enabled
4. With the ability to do wps for connecting to secured network by pushing a button on the wireless router
5.very few "bugs" if any... I.e. Working bluetooth, 4g, 3g, wifi...etc
6. Decent battery life
7. Working boot animations with audio
if anyone knows a rom like this please let me know ive flashed quite a few roms on my phone but cant seem to find anything like it

You should install miks 2.55 might even be 2.6 now I am not sure. That has everything you want. Chopsuey or freedom kernels have wireless N enabled. not sure if the stock miks kernel does.

Thank You so much its a big help, and currently im runing your Freedom kernel off of kernel manager
Just barely installed this ROM yesterday, and everything's great so far.
The only issue I'm having is that I also flashed the trickle charge kernel on top of the ROM, and now when I open my camera, all I see is a white screen. It will still technically take the picture, but I'm not able to see what I'm taking or focusing on. Not sure if it's a bug in the ROM itself, or specific to the kernel I flashed.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I've searched through Google and these forums, and have yet to find a solution that addresses my problem.
Thanks in advance!

Sbc Kernels only work on aosp roms and froyo. You have to flash a gingerbread kernel
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Thanks for the quick response!
Do you happen to know if there are any Gingerbread kernels currently out that allow for the trickle charging as well?
If not, can you recommend any GB kernels that I could use to flash over the one I put on already to get everything back to working the way it should?
Thanks for your help!
Chopsuey, poonsense, freedom, golden monkey are all gingersense custom kernels none are SBC and some will be UV which is undervolted
Sorry to be a total pain, but you don't happen to have links to where I can download these by chance?
I would greatly appreciate it.
Check development thread they are all posted there I'm on my phone trying to cook and a bunch of other stuff all at once so no llinks right this second but Google the name + xda and they will pop up just loom for the threads starting with [kernel][sense] + name chopsuey or freedom or golden monkey are all on xda poonsense is in kernel manager app
Awesome! Thanks so much for your help!
Why don't we have any kernels yet? There's plenty of development... is it a source issue? It's depressing that we're only 53% compatible with Kernel Tuner. I don't know much about kernels, but a few tweaks could go a long way, and I know anything custom wouldn't fly with a CM build kernel.
We really need to get someone to start pumping out custom kernels for this phone. I have no clue where to start or I'd definitely invest the time.
Someone go poke Snuzzo on the ReZound forum and get him on board. *Cough FlyHalf*
Features we need-
Logo to Menu (turns the HTC logo into a menu button)
Govs! -LionHeart, -SmartAss, etc
MPDecision
Audio Buffer Tweaks (improved quality from DSP)
Fast Charge (USB=1A draw)
Thermal tweaks (This phone gets almost too hot when gaming on CM10.2)
Anything Else I haven't thought of...
You have some strong points but in the mean time, I use this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236121
Interesting post....you might want to search the forum for three threads already discussing this. And you come off as demanding.
Yes it is a source issue. We don't have it. I am working on porting one for sense, but it is really difficult.

That kernel works on VZW One? Interesting. Anything broken with it? Thanks for the info, awaiting future reply before attempting to flash =)
