Sorry if this sounds like a really nooby question.. My girlfriend has a SGSII on Telus, that I rooted a long time ago, but now I'm wondering what roms to put on her phone. Do I have to use a rom specifically for telus? or can any t-mobile rom work? Do I need to flash a new radio or modem?
I have a Telus Note, and I can use any ATT rom available, just wondering if it works the same way for these phones.
Thanks for your help!
You can use any T989 ROM. Not sure if Wi-Fi calling will work on it. Here is a link from a great dev that made a nice ROM based on your ICS update. I've only heard good things about it.

Awesome, thanks for your help!
I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it. Here in our at&t forums, we use a Tmo Jelly Bean leak that has been modified for our phones. Over in the Tmo forum, they have the same leak with better battery life and stuff. My question is, will the Tmo ROM run on our phones as is? Or does it require special mods? I know an at&t modem is required, but what about the kernel and so forth? Forgive my ignorance.
Hey guys, I just got a S3 off of craigslist and have T-Mobile service but still have an AT&T ROM so mobile hotspot, nav and other features aren't working. Is there a T-Mobile RUU available or would I be better off rooting it and going with a custom ROM?
So T-Mobile Rom on an AT&T device is ok?
Like they have no problems..
Just being cautious.I'll flash and see one and update you!!

So far I've used the "SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 UNIFIED TOOLKIT V7.0" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682) to root and install CWM recovery. From recovery I successfully flashed Jelly Beans build 15 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973982) and so far everything appears to be working well except for 4g. In the notification area I have "G" and then "3G" but no 4G even in areas where I could pick it up before flashing.
This is an AT&T S3 (i-747) and I used the i-747 image to root/ flash recovery via the toolkit and then flashed the Tmobile variant of Jelly Beans.
Figured it all out. Thanks to this thread I was able to successfully flash a T-Mobile i747 engineering rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021) which also flashed the modem enabling TMo frequencies. Then I was able to reroot and flash a recovery meant for a t999 so in essence my phone is no longer an i747 but a t999 but with a radio that actually supports 4g/ lte. Basically what the new S3 Tmo is launching. My Jellybeans rom which was based off of a verizon build wouldn't allow 4g so I had to replace it with Darthstalker (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014442) which I haven't played around with too much yet but so far is awesome (native tethering works, one of my complaints about other roms). Ah 4G is nice, hit 12Mbps down... So long Sprint... So long Evo "4G"
thank you for the info! very helpful
What area are you, where you get those dl and up speeds? Thanks for the links!

As the title states, I just picked up a AT&T galaxy S3. I am looking to use it on T-Mobile. Coming from a galaxy S1, the unlocking procedure is a bit different. It also seems that roms are fairly brand specific, so I assume I should be looking for i747 roms. There are so many options out there, could anyone point me in the right direction to get this phone up and running? Are there any special considerations I should be taking since I am using an AT&T phone on T-Mobile?

Before you do anything, if you want to unlock you phone so you can use it on another network go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033225&highlight=sim+unlock
You will probably need to change the apn numbers to match t-mobile which is easy.... as far as roms go, you should do some searching for t-moible roms in the development thread. Also not being familiar with AT&T and T-mobile you should check to see if they use the same band and also check which modem (radio) you need... I am sure there have been lots of people that have done this arleady.... search search search at least you asked the question before you started not after you had a wreck
Thanks for the link. I did the unlock procedure, haven't tested it yet since I still need to cut down my SIM card.
I also went through and did the CF-Root procedure with ODIN. So theoretically the phone should be ready to flash a custom rom.
I was under the impression that I should be looking at i747 roms instead of the T-mobile version (i999?) since my device is originally AT&T branded. You are saying this is not the case? Basically I should look at roms in the T-Mobile section? It might not matter anyway since some popular roms run on both.
UPDATE:
I installed Stockorama V2 on the phone and it is up and running on t-mobile. It is a multi-carrier rom, but I used the AT&T options when installing. Would I have better luck installing it as T-Mobile? Basically, can I install a T999 rom/kernel on a i747?

yes sir, just the modem is different
Hello, I am trying to find a custom stable and fast rom for Lte T mobile Lt version of S3. Thanks for any infos.
I mean that I want use LTE. thx
Any rom in this forum should work fine. Aside from the 4.3 rom I just posted, I dont believe there are any roms built from T999L firmware.
Please read the Q&A thread for more on the T999L. Nearly every question you may have is likely addressed there already.
Don't think so. Anyway thx.
