Hi. I'm new to all this Android dev stuff, and I was wondering if you could give me some pointers on where to start. The only thing I have done so far was root, install BusyBox and run the Supercharger Script. I would appreciate if you could give me the pros and cons of each ROM, and tell me what you would recommend to somebody new to this things and that is looking for a relatively stable, fast and modern ROM. (I also might say that I am quite unsatisfied with the Galaxy W stock ROM). I've narrowed it down to these three.

Yeah, the thing is, I don't really understand the technical terms. For example, the RebelRom, looks and behaves like ICS, but it's not actual ICS I think. What are the pros and cons?

Rebel rom is indeed if i'm not mistaken is a gb based rom. And the link that I gave to you is all ics rom. The pros and cons is there at their own changelogs

Just to add my 2 cents: if you're considering of flashing an ICS ROM, do a 'complete annihilation' of the phone: erase /system, /data, /cache, internal SD, and external SD.
Let nothing from GB carry over into ICS, or you're going to face strange glitches.

The best 2.3.6 I ever tried and using is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687854&highlight=bagux - ver. 1.4
I have tried alot 4.0.1 and even 4.0.4, but soon went back to 2.3.6 because 4.0.x was slow for me.
I am looking forward to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912368 - we will see how it performs.
Hello all, based on your knowledge and experience, what is the BEST, MOST STABLE, BATTERY FRIENDLY, SMOOTH, POPULAR and PERFORMANCE ACCELERATED 4.1 custom ROM (I know it doesn't have a 4.2 based yet) for the Note 2 N7100 that has the most upgradable potential? Will Android Revolution be one of them? What do you think?

Yes Android revolution is one.. but since mike prioritize htc devices tha samsung.. I think omega rom is one of your option... I have been using the rom in my note 2 .. plus perseus kernel v31.2.. my battery life increased.. with good performance.. and just to rob it in the new version of perseus has the fix for sudden death syndrome..
n7100
omega rom v10 perseus kernel 31
hit thanks its free anyway
Stock deodexed zipaligned rom....
It's the best.
Rom makers imao add extra stuff which is generally unnecessary.
Just get a deodexed stock rom from as i9000's form and find all the mods you want.
Also perseus kernel is a must.

I was custom roms flash addict but with note 2, stock rom for me the best. So give a try for stock odexed rom, for example DLL7
note 2 will out dated when. higher specs with 5.5 at least screen or more will come.if u agree prss thankx

emotion rom v2 is gud
I don't have ROM screenshots yet to give you an idea (we've only just got our Galaxy Note 2 rooted here in Japan).
But I keep an up-to-date ROM list to keep you inspired and busy flashing!
Check out my sig.
Well thanks for suggestion guys!:victory:
I've been using CleanRom 3.5 on my Note 2, gives you the feeling of a stock rom but with features like Multiview. I wouldn't mind something a little more custom but in the meantime this does the trick.

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard/read sir , it is ABUNDANTLY clear that if something new is released, with similar specs of an older model but with better power/hardware then it will be better.
Okay, got into Omega and that's really impressive from user data managing to performance. Great!

Okay, Omega is quite stable and decent but I found that it doesn't have enough "custumizability" nor CyanogenMod setting compared to my Atrix running MRom (CM7). Just make a backup and flash the JellyBam tomorrow.

You wont get much customizations with stock based rom. AOSP builds are way to go for them.

How about AOKP?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
So, the real question is:
What is the best combination of Kernel and Rom to flash?
Needed:
- much customization
- NO bloatware
- Stable
- Long battery life
- use external SD card as internal SD (memory)
already got:
- Root
- CWM
- Stock kernel and Rom
- DirectoryBind (but would like it when the kernel would swap extsd and sd)
H20 rom kicks butt! Absolutely no problems! :thumbup

I am using the JellyBam right now and it looks pretty amazing: Stock 4.1.2 UI, full CM10 feature and smooth.
With getting Samsung Note II (GT-7100) more n more popular to the android users n ROM developers, we can see a lot of ROM options coming out of the box daily with more or less added features. On one side this excites advanced users to try those ROM n play around but it clearly becomes confusion for the new users who want to try for the first time, obviously they would go for the most stable/used one by xda users.
With that intention starting this thread, hope this will go fine. [this is not an evaluation].
[already searched the thread, similar posts are there for other phones but none for GT-7100]
With due respect to all the developers for their hard work n tine spent on building....developing...n....updating the ROM s.

No offence but it is very confusing why people like omega.
I mean arhd and wanam are a model roms. Very light and optimized and not much edited.
Or like monxdified or phoenix. They are so beautiful modified and optimized.
Or jellybam and pa. Tablet ui on this big screen.

Why you no poll, though?
On Wanamite lite v1.1 for my N7105. wit Perseus kernel.
Amazing combo. super fast and really battery friendly.
only complaint is both Kernel and Rom not update very frequently but since they work so great now.
So doesn't matter at all.

I'm not going to ask the dreaded "what's the best custom rom" question but I'd like some opinions on some users.
I'm looking for something that's stock based, debloated, optimized kernel for batter or possible options to oc/uv, things like that.
All responses will be appreciated.

friggin gettin' it done, buddy. love it
who is your service provider? in the android developer section there are stock based roms that are debloated. ignore the above link for most part. just a sausage measuring thread really. go to the source of roms and find one. you can always change it. personally I use wicked v8 which sure looks stock and I get better battery. but go out and experiment. if there was a best rom it would be the only rom
you need to do the research yourself and decide what you like. not that hard, just a bit of reading, maybe a bit of flashing.

Personally the 2 best ones I've used so far are the XperiaZ rom and LiquidSmooth RC2..
LS being very Nexus-ish and is JB 4.2.2
Fastest and smoothest I've tested so far (out of about 8 or so)
The Xperia rom is like a modified stock TW with some cool features like the Sony home screen customizations and has the option to have the Note 2 cam and gallery, features intact.
Both roms last about 20+ hrs with pretty heavy use..
But they all have their different perks and strengths, weaknesses, etc..
Basically up to you to flash multiples until you find a good stable daily driver that suits all your needs
Be sure to follow instructions meticulously and read read read!
Make sure also to hit "thanks" to people that help you and consider a donation to a rom dev that's spent their hard earned time to cook up these cool options for us!
Happy Flashing!

op said something stock based. and you throw out an aosp rom. if you like touchwiz, like me, aosp will probably annoy you. and as for add-ons. well you can tinker a bit. like my rom didnt have nexus cam with the sphere cam so I just flashed it in a separate zip file. you can just debloat what you already have after you root and get a new kernal. kernals will improve your battery life on their own. but yea. read stuff

you should read the threads and decide yourself reading user reviews and stuff and best option is to try yourself, new phone go start flashing all of them
my opinion - as of now all roms are doing great all are smooth, personal favourites - paranoid android and rasbeanjelly, combine it with ak kernel your phone will fly
