Hi, i am moderately decent at problem solving with my phone but i am now stumped. For some reason my mytouch 3g slide will randomly throughout the day cut to a black screen and become completely unresponsive while draining the battery at an extraordinary pace (like from 99% to 5% in about a half an hour). i have tried swapping roms, wiping my system and starting from scratch, rebooting, leaving it sit without a battery to let the cpu rest. nothing seems to work. Can somebody please help me troubleshoot?
I am rooted, and running CM7 7.1.0 stable from the cyanogenmod website.
I don't know if this is the cause but i am still S-ON.
Could it be a battery problem? Hardware? Software? Please help!

So, about two weeks ago my phone started acting kind of strange - in the sense that battery started discharging a lot faster than usual - back then I just kind of shrugged it off as probably a radio/ROM/kernel problem, and kind of forgot about it. Then, it got worse.. to the point where I now get about 3-4 hours of life out of the phone in standby mode, with only WiFi being turned on, CPU underclocked to 729Mhz max. Furthermore, the phone gets really hot after a while of using it.. I tried flashing differnent kernel, different radio and ROM (clean wipe, battery calibration), but nothing helped..
If that helps, SetCPU indicates values around 40°C battery temp.
Do you think it can be battery dying? I have it only for a little more than a year.. if not, any idea what can that be?
Thanks.
So i'm currently running CM7 on my incredible. I have been running it for a little over a month with no battery problems. Just recently the battery has been draining crazy fast. I'm saying losing 1% every minute. At first I thought it was my battery so I took the battery from my wife's Dinc to try her's as she has absolutely no battery problems at all. It drained the battery 8% in a matter of 5 minutes!!!
I left my phone on and had it charging all night and in the morning it was still at only 78% charged.
Is there a fix to this? Ideas?
Thanks for the help!
I'm surprised that it wouldn't fully charge over night! Seems like it only takes an hour or two to fully charge my phone (stock battery, cm7, incredikernel). I'd recommend a different kernel that has fast charge at least, might also help your battery life too. Chad's incredikernel or invisiblek are my favorites, both charge very quickly.

Charge your phone until it won't anymore while turned on. Then turn it off and keep charging until the light goes green. Then unplug it, and plug it back in until it goes green again. Then boot into recovery and go to Advanced -> Wipe Battery Stats. Reboot your phone and let the battery drain to 0% (don't plug it in at all until it's at 0%, it's relearning all the charge points and whatnot). Then plug it in and charge it all the way up again.
I hope this solves your problem!
What's your CPU utilization look like? If something is pegging your processor, the battery will run down pretty fast.

that's really weird. I got great BL on cm7. And I get comparable with a sense 2.1/3.0 rom which makes me very happy. I have a 1500mah battery, but I just got it recently and I got great BL with stock. But it's great because it came with 2 bats and a bat charger, so I just keep one on the charger and if I run low for whatever reason, I just swap the battery. And unlike a lot of battery chargers, when it gets full it doesn't start to drain, it keeps it at 100%.

I WAS getting great battery life. all of a sudden the phone had shut off one day and wouldn't go back on unless I took the battery out and put it back in. Since then the battery life has been just crap. I tried resetting the battery points and nothing happened. I think I'm just going to go back to 2.2. I never had any issues with cm7 up until now but something is completely ****ed and I can't do anything to repair it.
ugh.
Check what apps are consuming most of your CPU. If you nothing stands out there it may be worth buying System Panel ($3) for the monitoring capability. There are probably free apps that do the same thing, but I can only recommend what I've tried. Also, if you just recently flashed an over/underclocked kernel or just installed SetCPU, you may be running into Issue 9733, which has a known workaround. If you want any more detailed assistance, you'll have to post more details. Can you post an adb bugreport?
I'm not sure what happened but I decided to just flash a different ROM. I just flashed Kingdom Stock GingerSense 3.0. Works great! I installed all my programs on it just fine and I just tried installing the google apps zip (it has navigation, places, ect) and now I'm getting an error message. UGH! WHY! It didn't install the apps from the zip file and now for a few programs that I had already installed they are no longer there and when I try to install from the market place I get a "Missing Shared Library" error message. I'm trying to install the TD Bank app and Tweetdeck as well as Craigslist and get the errors. I'm not having any problems with anything else.
problem solved!
My defy battery has been playing up every cycle now. Tried using battery calibration. Been trying both Quark and Eppy builds. Now on the latest Defy Quark build. Got a green lens defy. Haven't a clue what is wrong.
Nothing explains the massive drops. It always happens around these points every cycle.
Any solutions?
I'm having the same problem with my green lens Defy. When battery is between 40-30% it suddenly drops about a 10-15%.
I haven't been able to found a solution to the problem yet (I have yet to try battery fix, but i think only red lense Defy's need it).
At first i thought it was a battery calibration problem, but after wiping stats everything remained the same way as before (now I know that wiping those stats does absolutely nothing to the battery).
I hope it's a software related problem and not my battery dying.
I think it is ics-based. I experienced after calibration (Hard-battery-script) two drops every circle, 55-49% and 29/26-19%.
Cheers for the information guys. It's good to know I'm not alone. I couldn't find anything on it!
The only things I can relate is that it is on green lens defy's. Maybe...
Is there no solutions for you guys? I found that calibration did nothing too.
How long have you guys had the problem for?
I first found this bug after flashing CM7.2 RC1. After seen it twice, I decided to wipe battery stats but it didn't work.
After that, I flashed CM9 (epsylon build) and was behaving the same way as CM7.
I couldn't tell if this bug was happening on stock Froyo, since it didn't have any kind of battery graph and I wasn't noticing anything suspicious to install a more detailed battery app.
Easy,guys.
Although its battery has these two gaps,
it remains on power which means it lasts longer at every 1% than before when there's no gaps.
I have kept a record when I just purchased defy.
That time is 2.4 hours per 1%(full discharge) mobile(2G) standby,
and now I have these gaps (14% total)as you mentioned, but it lasts 2.8 hours per 1% at first 20% then 2.7-2.5 hours per 1% to the last.
Actually,it is the same amount and this is under 1 year use!
is it my phone or battery
im using cm9.
my original defy suddenly died (got swollen) so i bought 2 new battery from two diff. supplier. (SNn5885A). it charges ok for the first time but i noticed on the first battery when it got drained. it wont charge anymore. it got stuck on 4%. the other battery, not wanting to fully drained it, turned it off at around 50%. but when i tried to turn it on this morning, it got the same thing as the other battery.
the question is, is it my phone f* the battery or they are just no good? how will i know?
thanks
Hi!
I got this phone and it does have some issues, the device with the original battery will work until about 60% then boot loop, the battery drains pretty fast, so i get 60% in like 1 hour or so. I got a new battery, tested fine on another g3 without issues, in my phone it shows like "7 hours remaining" but drains really fast and the phone shutdowns in 40% and shows the warning sign for a really low battery.
I have tried a lot of factory reset, downgrading to 4.4.2, updating to 5.0, other roms, but its exactly the same issue, so i think is hardware related.
seeing the service manual for this model, it seems to have a "fuel gauge" IC MAX17048, maybe is related to this? idk just shotting randomly with his, but even when charging with another phone and putting the battery on mine it does exactly the same every time.
Does anyone have any idea of what this can be?
Hey guys, so for the past few weeks my G3 has been rebooting randomly, at first it was just once or twice a day. But now it's at the point that I can't use my phone anymore, it's CONSTANTLY rebooting. People suggested a battery issue, so I've changed my battery but the issue came back a week later. These reboots started around the time I flashed a thermal mod provided on XDA forums but I've flashed back to stock countless times, I've performed hard resets, factory resets and changing my charger but nothing seems to work.
I've also noticed a new issue today, my phone will show 54% battery life, then suddenly die. When I turn it back on it'll show 3%. If I charge it, it'll go from 3% to 100% in less than an hour which is quite impossible. But after a reboot, the battery will show something around 5-10% again. I really have no clue what todo or what the issue can be. Please help!
I'm currentled running Android 4.0.4 stock, non-rooted and barely any apps or bloatware (Just whatsapp, messenger and snapchat)
I have had the same problem as yours, i got a new battery and all good since. Maby you got a new faulty battery. Is it oem?
Exactly the same issue but I've tried a new battery yet
I ve got same problem then i replaced battery and since then it happened like 3 times (i was pretty mad!) but since then it works great...

Try caliberating your battery. And try changing your battery.
Battery changed and looks a lot better
