first off, i haven't flashed any ics roms or kernels. i actually was just checking an email and when i pressed the link in gmail, dolphin opened up and then force closed which ive never seen before. ok so i let it fc and then gmail fc'd. over and over it constantly fc'd so i figured i would reboot. .... i never made it past the first (Galaxy s II) boot/splash screen. tried battery pull and even went in rogue recovery and reflashed blazer 4. still couldnt get past the boot screen. a nandroid fixed it but does anyone know what may have happened?

so my phone keeps freezing 2 minutes after it boots up. It started while I was trying to delete some texts off handcent, the whole phone just froze. I had to pull the battery and then when i booted the phone back up, it was acting super laggy and froze a minute or two after boot up. So I have to pull the battery again and it just keeps doing this. Havent installed any new apps or anything. I stopped a few programs from starting up with autostarts but they werent critical programs. anyone have any ideas?
Need some more info.
ROM, kernel, radio, what's your setup?
all stock, rooted with s-off.
I ended up doing a factory reset because I used to use launcherpro and after one of the numerous resets the phone went back to sense home and everything was gone.
Im still curious as to what i could have been...
So i have started encountering a problem in which about 3 minutes into a phone call my phone freezes and then ultimately turns off and only way to turn it back on is removing the battery and then power button.
I have had this problem on every rom starting on CM. After it happened on this rom i flashed juggs, beast, and da bomb (or whatever) and everyone it still happened. I wiped data, cache and delvik before every flash but this did not help.
I eventually just odin back to stock with the stock tar that is posted somewhere in this forum. This still has the problem. I found that it generally happens if i move from my ear and the screen turns on and then it wont turn back off and no menus are available (ak i cant get into dialer if i call bank or 800 number to input a number) and then it just completely freezes and turns off.
Any help with this would be great. I mean making phone calls is probably the most important part of a "phone" working. So i really need this to be fixed asap. thanks

Looks like it might be a kernal problem. Have you flashed back to the stock kernal? If not, I'd look there first
yeah i flashed stock kernal as well...problem still persist
uninstall Google+
no google + never have had it.
Have you tried flashing CM7 Alpha #2? I had that same problem with Alpha #1 release then flashed #2 fixed permissions. Then at first start up i rebooted with GPS on and voila! No more phone FC.
I started with Alpha #1 where the problem started flashed over #2 fixed permissions and same problem. thats when i started flashing the other roms to try to solve the problems but this hasnt helped. So i odin back to stock. flashed stock kernal and stock recovery. and i still have the problem.
What sucks is im just graduating college and im starting to receive calls from future employers and i cannot talk for more then 2 minutes before my phone decides to shut off.
So any other advice???
bump it up. Any help please...::
what it is doing now update: I click on a contact or type a number and press call and the screen turns black except the status bar. soft keys dont work, hard keys dont work. phone is a fail. people can still hear me and i can still hear them but the phone is unusable and i have to pull battery to get out of the black screen.
This was doing it on every rom and i have now put beastmod v2 4.0 still no luck :[
I just received my White GS2, finished the OTA update.
And yes, the dialer FC on me every single time once I push the hangup button.
I rebooted my phone today and it wouldn't boot up. I was running rhcps Minor Addins 4.03 with Francos kernel.
Doing the obvious, I reflashed a nandroid backup. After doing this my NFC reading of tags no longer works. In addition, opening the settings menu "more..." that contains the NFC settings freezes the phone up.
I wiped multiple times, flashed multiple kernels and ROMS and nothing helped except one time, it worked briefly right after RHCPs rom was reflashed but then quickly stopped again(without me doing anything but opening the Market)
Just to note: I have been testing the NFC on tags that I have
Please help NFC not working is one thing but it freezing up the settings menu is just ridiculous.
Edit: Tried my non-extended battery. Same thing
Edit2: Reflashing to the first backup I ever made right after rooting fixed NFC... haven't tried reflashing a newer ROM again. No time atm
Edit3: Relflashing to RHCP rom + franco kernel + Gapps resulted in the same problem. Going to flash back to original backup and try one at a time to see when it breaks.
Edit4: The problem is apparently Gapps... going to try deleting wallet from the zip see what happens
I had similar problem with my first GN, but it was completely stock and not rooted. It started after I tried to install wallet and wallet would never work. The more button would freeze the settings menu and only open directly after reboot. NFC also started draining my entire battery in about 4 hours even in airplane mode. I took phone back and asked for another. Sorry that I didn't find solution, but did have same settings problem.

The problem was Wallet... the gapps.zip was installing wallet and it was messing up my NFC... not sure why it suddenly started to do this :/ Going to try to install the .apk and see what happens
Edit: Looks like my secure element is bricked I've tried every method possible to get Wallet back on but everything I try breaks my phones NFC.
Even tried the ADB command
am broadcast -a android.intent.action.MASTER_CLEAR_NOTIFICATION
Still no go
I have been having a problem every time I change roms where after it boots up, i get maybe 5 minutes to play around and then the home screen crashes. It reloads, finds a signal, media scanner running etc, just like i just turned the phone on. Before I can do anything, it crashes again and repeats forever. Its not boot looping though. But it makes the phone useless.
This happened last time i tried the 12 lockscreens mod (im on calkulins 2.8.1), so i had to wipe and reflash calks rom since my backup was bad. Then i made another backup to be safe, which is working. Today i tried flashing blu kuban by rujelus22. Same thing happened. Which makes me thing there is a deep seated issue somewhere in the phone.
Every time i flash a new rom, i wipe cache and dalvik, and format system. I also tried a factory reset. Nothing solves my problem and I cant find anything similar anywhere.
I really hope one of you has a brilliant idea for me because I really love this phone, but If im stuck with one rom forever I would be a very sad panda
BTW i have to thank all the devs for all the sweet roms and hacks, you guys rock
Download calkulins wipe all.zip
Run that then try to flash your rom
Also in CWM run the fix permissions option....that usually fixes alot of issues

I've recently started having trouble with my N7100 freezing/locking up.
I bought it shortly after launch, so it's a little over 1 1/2 years old. I had flashed one of the first rooted 4.1.2 firmware that was available, and never bothered updating because it was stable and got great battery life and I didn't feel like dealing with ROM stuff. But recently with the official 4.4.2, I decided to finally update, and decided on trying out DN3. So I flashed the latest TWRP, did the usual backing every thing up, flashed the MJ5 bootloader, and flashed it. It kept bootlooping, so I figured something went wrong, so I restored my 4.1.2 backup. This was where the freezing began. It was to the point where I couldn't use it. Tried rebooting a few times, but every time it would freeze as soon as it booted or shortly after. I assumed something just went wrong with the backup, so I tried flashing DN3 again. This time it booted successfully, but would occasionally freeze, most often when loading an app, but sometimes just randomly. After a couple days it seemed to subside. Then I decided to try out OmniRom. Same thing -- it would occasionally freeze up, then after a while would be fine. (Note: these were both clean installs.) Seems like every time I'd flash an updated version of Omni, the freezing issue would flare back up. Just now, I flashed the latest homemade build, and the freezing was really bad again, to the point where I can't even use it. Sometimes it'll freeze the instant it finishes booting, sometimes it'll freeze a few seconds after, sometimes it'll finish booting and will be fine until I load an app, then would freeze, and sometimes it would be fine for a couple minutes and the just freeze randomly. What's odd about it is that the screen is still responding to touch. Every thing's locked up, but when I touch the screen, the capacitive buttons light up as though it's still working fine, but nothing else works. I've even had a couple times where I let it sit for about 10 minutes and then it started responding again.
What's really frustrating is that I can't find a common cause here.Started on 4.1.2 (which had never had any issues beforehand), continues on a clean install of DN3, and continues on a clean install of OmniRom. Disabling Xposed and removing my SD card had no effect. It boots fine into recovery and download modes.
Does anyone know what the issue could be here?
EDIT: And now I've done a complete wipe, again, and reflashed DN3, again, and it appears to be working fine. Go figure.
It's not suddenly death?
