Hi.
So I finally got my Desire working after it had been "bricked" for sometime. However, I have a persistent problem that I cannot seem to fix.
Every time I install a ROM by putting the .zip on the SD card and installing from recovery, it works perfectly. I choose the restart option and the phone boots up fine and each ROM is working as it should.
However, on the next reboot after power off, the phone will hang on the ROM logo screen, it get's past the white on green HTC logo screen. This is happening with any ROM that I install.
I would apreciate any help or advice
May be a problem with your SD card or the way you partitioned it.
Wipe everything and re-partition your card using 4ext recovery or gparted.

I've never done anything to the sdcard. However earlier I reformatted all the options within recovery such as cache, data, system etc then reinstalled a ROM again and it now seems ok. So fingers crossed. Thanks for your advice.

Scratch that. It's still doing it. I'll try the partitioning but I've no clue what I'm supposed to do.

Check out the Desire index. There is a guide on how to partition your card correctly.

I used goo manager to download and install the latest recovery. Every time I go to boot into recovery it gets to the load screen where the blue letters are at the top but then it vibrates two or three times then reboots the phone like normal. My phone is rooted but not sure why it's doing this....help would be appreciated.

Have you tried flashing TWRP via Odin?
Have you tried to install twrp again?
Try installing cwm (you can use the ROM manager app) and see if that boots. Then try using too to install twrp again.

I haven't tried using Odin yet. I will give that a try. I was hoping I could do it without having to use a computer. I have tried reinstalling twrp using goo manager without success.

Switch to cwm to make sure the recovery partition of the storage is okay. Install cwm via the ROM manager app and make sure you can get into SOME recovery. Then try to install twrp again from too. Switching to another recovery was an important step in that process.

Finally got twrp installed! Goo manager and Rom manager did not work for me....they both would not boot into recovery. I had to use Odin mobile and install the recovery then it would boot. Thank everyone that helped out. Hope this can help someone else.

This is a little late here, but I an others have had trouble booting into recovery after flashing ROMs like the leaked 4.3.
It behaved just like the above when I was trying to get into recovery to restore a nandriod - even after a battery pull for 1 minute. I put in into Download mode, then did a battery pull. After that, it went into recovery with no problem.
Note - if Goo Manager installed 2.5.0.3 - that could be part of the problem, as there are issues with it. I went back to 2.5.0.2.
I think some 4.3 roms make you loose root also read their op.

Omega 1.0 was the first one to indicate it was rooted - but it unrooted me. It was when I initially tried to restore a nandriod when I could not get into recovery. I had read about others not being able to get into recovery after flashing 4.3 also.
After I flashed a s pen mod (which allows u to change the hover pic and the sound) on my jedi xp15 my phone just stopped rebooting. After the flashing was done what happened was the i unclicked "reboot" so that it will not reboot because i had a few more to flash. But because i was stupid i forgotten to backup before flashing. So what happened was that i just factory reseted mine (this time backing it up) and it still wont reboot. What happens when i reboot is my reboot animation finishes and the screen just goes black and gets pretty warm. What can i do?? Please help me out here because this is a problem i've never had.....

Do battery pull. Reboot into recovery via 3 button method. Wipe cache/davlik cache. Fix permissions reboot. See if that works.

Worst case....you may need to flash an Odin stock build...
The risk of partition damage is higher when pushing files into the system after rom flashing...especially if you are unsure of the potential outcome or recovery...
A full rooted stock backup is considered mandatory for me..along with a stand alone EFS file backup also...
I would flash the rooted stock build...Then create your backups....then build your rom of choice....g
Actually I got it fixed now I just used advanced wipe on my twrp and checked system so I wiped my system and reflashed jedi xp15

So here's what happened - I installed digitalblur but forgot to install the 4.3 bootloader prior to flashing digitalblur. ROM flashed fine and went thru setup of rom and then as I always do after setup I like to reboot the phone. But it wouldn't reboot, all it would do is continue to boot loop at the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen. Now I can't get into recovery. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to fix this issue?

If you can get into download mode, you should be able to Odin back to stock.
