Hi, I want to update to 0.62, I am currently on stock 0.42 with rooted, xperia s theme, v6 supercharge, cwm etc. When I did a complete reinstall of the software before I had to reroot it again. If I update to 0.62 will I have to add all the modification again or will they not be affected?
taa
They'll be gone

I see, so is it worth updating? I read that it only has minor bug fixes and I'm happy with how 0.62 functions atm, might leave it till 0.69 and see what that offers

are there any benefits to installing this update?
seems some people are having problems after updating.
My phone is working fine at the moment and it would be a shame to update and get reduced functionality.
Is there any way to remove the update notification if I decide not to update because at the moment its stuck in notifications?

Well IMO the 2.3.3 version was the best because I could play psxperia games but can't in the new version and the xloud was actually loud, but the 2.3.4 update gives you 720p recording, swipe keyboard. I chose the latter and have battery drain now so I'd stick with 2.3.3
To remove the update notification you can freeze the update centre system app in titanium backup

No.. it wont brick your phone. Its the latest 2.3.4 update from Sony, and if you update, you will only lose root
I'm already on 2.3.4 and I want to keep root. Is there any way to remove the update notification?
Hi everyone, i just bought a Xperia Arc and its currently running Android 2.3.2
My questions are:
1 - Which is the latest version update for Xperia Arc ?
2 - I tried to look for an update using the "Sony Ericson PC Companion" but it says that there is no avaible update. Why is it happening?
3 - The fact that my carrier is "VIVO" (From Brasil) means i can´t update my Phone?
4 - Is there any "Safe" (I know every way may brick your phone,i´ve flashed tons of custom roms on galaxy phones) way to update it to the latest version (or at least to 2.3.3 where i´ve seen some cool features) without breaking my 3G connection with my carrier ?
5 - I Know ICS is going to be released for our phones, but, will the update be Global or Carrier-by-Carrier like ?
Thanks in advance for any help/answers.
I will stay tuned here !
Flash with flash tool.
Debrand it with generic 2.3.4

Can i flash a "Global" Rom that works in every country, with every carrier ?
That would solve my issue,if theres any 2.3.4 (Which i found to be the latest version) rom (STOCK ROM,not CUSTOM) that i can flash safely.
Waiting for answers.
Where are you developers ?
Read the stickys.
Search for flashtool and read how to use it.
Then search for 2.3.4 generic world and flash it with tool above.

Safe ?
Does 3G Works with worldwide carriers ?
No it's not rooted (well you can flash pre-rooted one)
Yes it is safe.
Yes 3g works.

Last one,do you mind linking me a "how to" guide so i can follow it?
I´ve found this on on Youtube, but im not sure if its the same step-by-step: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmmThXTWu74
Also,Flashing this global rom, will prevent some apps from SE like TrackID to work or whatever ?
I´ve read it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650
Look in general and devs section, there are tutorials.
Im on phone so i cant copy/paste link to it.
Someone will give you link,or ask flo95 for it.

Hi guys, i have flashed LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62 to my Arc S, it works fine but i Wanted to clear the bloatware so I need root for that.
I couldn't find any direct method (forund the one to downgrade o .42 then to root, but it's too much hassle), can it be done?
Also if easier and anyone knows which ROM i can flash with any Stock 2.3.4 without bloatware + CWM etc... i just don't like custom roms, as it
turns default works just fine for me.
So:
1. How to root stock LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62
2. Link to pre rooted 2.3.4 (LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62) stock kernel + cwm - bloatware
You can not root. 62 it is no hassle to use flashtools to flash The.42/.56 root then update ota ( only if bootloader Is locked otherwise you will brick your phone)

2. Don't need it atm

Flash Doomlord kernel v22 (with corresponding Wi-Fi modules) and voila - you got root access!

Let me explain my question. When I got my Xperia Arc S, it was already loaded with .62 firmware. I later upgraded it to ICS, but downgraded since ICS makes phone a second class device. Since I dont have experiences with other older gingerbread rom (version .42 and older) and since i found in some threads, that battery life was better in older versions of gingerbread I have this question for you.
So, which one of the gingerbread versions for Xperia Arc S was the best in terms of battery life, speed, maybe UI design. Which one would you recommend (for those, who had a phone since starting version) and to which one it is still safe to downgrade. Or is this simply the latest GB version 4.0.2.A.0.62?
Thanks for all the answers.
Most of the custom ones work okay, try xgamer, it's one of the most popular. Based on my experience it's quite good, stable, fast and batterylife is great

Rooted, de-bloated and battery life-tweaked .69 build is the answer to your questions.

Question for Destroyedbeauty:
Is there any noticable difference between .62 or .69 firmware? And how to root .69 firmware, since I can't do an OTA to this version, .62 is the latest for me?

.69 is not needed, it is only for Germany, includes only small name change (Gmail to Google Mail) due to legal issues, nothing else.
So .62 is the latest and suits just perfect for me.
Stood on .62, moved some apps from /data/app to /system/app, still have about 130 mb free on internal.Found out Arc S does have some unused space in system partition. I enjoy my fast phone. Only thing bothering is proximity sensor crack, but I'll fix that since phone is still under warranty. Thanks for all the opinions!
hello everybody.. i have a noob question for my phone guys.. sorry if im too newbie to ask this but I want to update my device (Currently in .200 FW) to .96 via Sony PC Companion..
my device is
1) definitely ROOTED!
2) deodexed
3) installed some mods already
4) bootloader LOCKED!
5) CWM installed
and here my question goes.
1) will i lose any data if I update my FW via SPCC?
2) will i get bootlooped if I update it?
3) am i gonna update it or it has the same bugs as .200 FW?
i want to update my device without being clear all the application i have.. Advance Thanks.
Hi There,
regarding your question i can only reply you to point 3, since i made a fresh update because i was coming from a CWM based.
I'm using that firmware since couple of week and it looks much more better than .2XX, it is also smooth and up to now no bugs at all.
I am not using HDMI so i cannot tell you if it is bugged or not.
Hope it helps.
Cheers!
Ota update is online, i updated it today.
