I will be purchasing a galaxy nexus from a friend in a few days.He told me that he has not paid the etf fee for the phone, I was curious if the phone would work if I had a lte sim card or if I signed up for new service. Thanks for the help in advance.
You'll have to call Verizon and see what they can do if anything, they might not let you activate it.

The phone will be blacklisted from ever connecting to Verizon's network until your friend pays the money he owes to Verizon. Tell him to stop being a cheap ass and pay his bill.

I would suggest that you pass on this "gift".
Verizon usually doesn't usually budge on unblacklisting phones so you might be screwed.

Just buy the nexus from Verizon for the 150 it's running at right now. And tell your friend to stop being retarded and pay his bill.

Even better, buy it from Amazon for something like $0.01. Or if he's off contract there are plenty of non-blacklisted phones for sale on Craigslist, eBay, XDA marketplace, etc..

I bought a galaxy nexus before the ban from google play.
and being an unlocked phone and the fact that it's not from T-Mobile there's no insurance.
Is there any extended warranty or insurance i could get such as SquareTrade?
i tried squaretrade but didn't see our phone on the list of phones to select

I have had asurion since I first had t mobile. I keep getting letters from them stating that the mobile has detected I am not using a t mobile sanctioned phone so it is not covered by the mobile warranty however it is covered under my insurance plan.

I guess you could give Verizon a ring and ask what the heck is going on.
Verizon marks phones for unpaid bills and other stupid ****. They black listed my Droid Incredible because I terminated my contract for the Nexus. DINC is literally a brick now.

That DINC can be used on alternate networks like cricket or metropcs that accept foreign esns... it not really hard to flash/reprogram them if you look a little bit.. that's the reason they are sold on craigslist all the time.
Before I took the plunge and bought a new GSM GNex for the $30 tmobile plan, that's I'll I did is buy bad esn phones off of ebay and reprogram them for my cricket account

If the imei/serial are different then probably not. You can always call and ask the protocol.

that is absolutely correct.
i took it to TMOBILE yesterday and the rep couldn't get it to work. so he told me "i have never seen this happen."
so i took it to SOLAVEI and paid for the service already!!!!
i just called tmobile and 5 reps told me that the phone was reported LOST. and that the owner was sent insurance replacements. i was told that if the could get a hold of the original owner and ask him to call tmobile, or get his old phone number that they will unlock the phone for me.
the 6th rep. which was the "highest ranking" told me that she could not find my IMEI on the network.
i called the guy i traded with on craigslist. the guy tells me that he only used it on ATT cuz it is unlocked. and that he got it from someone else.
imma just tell the guy to trade back or imma take him to small claims court.
the mods can close this thread.

I hope that one doesn't get blacklisted at that price...
Seems like the way it has been going lately with inexpensive second hand phones.
