[MOD]iPhone-Sounds [v1.1] - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hey guys. I am creating a mod for the i9001. It's called iPhone sounds. I making this mod because I like the iPhone lock sounds, Ringtones, shutter sounds, etc.
This is just my first mod so please dont blame me if you don't like it.
Please don't blame me if you dont like the iPhone sounds.
Download Link 1.1:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/iphonesounds/files/iPhone-Sounds.zip/download
Changelog 1.0.0:
First Version! Only Lock sounds yet.
1.1
Added Camera shutter sounds and Charger Connecter sound.
INSTALLATION:
Download the .zip to your Galaxy s plus.
reboot in CWM/Feamod recovery by holding the power button and the volume up button. Choose install zip from sdcard and choose the .zip
When its done just reboot. Enjoy!
thanks to crybert for creating the update-script
287 downloads

Use this to mount /system:
Code:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p15", "/system");
Rest of the script seems ok but I think you should also set permissions using this:
Code:
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/system/media/audio/ui");

Try this if the update-binary only needs 3 arguments for mounting the partition /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 as EXT4 under system:
Code:
mount("ext4", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p15", "/system");
If the binary needs 4 arguements look one post above.
For unmounting system use this:
Code:
unmount("/system");
Code:
ui_print("iPhone-Sounds by FlorisNL");
show_progress(1.000000, 0);
mount("ext4", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p15", "/system");
set_progress(0.400000);
Please dont blame me if you dont like the iPhone sounds...
package_extract_dir("system/media/audio/ui", "/system/media/audio/ui");
set_progress(0.800000);
unmount("/system");
set_progress(0.900000);
ui_print("Installed Iphone-Sounds. Enjoy.");
set_progress(1.000000);

and 'Please dont blame me if you dont like the iPhone sounds...' has to be inside ui_print

[MOD] dsexton702's Universal Shot XIX

A tweak thats amazing and beautiful made my phone more buttery smooth so now i have underclocked at 13800 instead of 15200 the whole time! Battery life is more excellent and amazing liquid transitions.
What do these tweaks do?
Greatly improve the smoothness of your phone especially with scrolling
increase your phones repsonsiveness
for some it increases FPS and allows better gaming
Improves the HTC's Evo 3d, 3d quality
improves better I/O performance
speed up start up time
handles multitasking better
improves ext4 partition mounts
improves better cpu performance
least importantly it improves quad scores
Do NOT tamper with the files inside or else you will brick! I have used it, works perfectly, and you must use the BL version and you need the official CWM. Not the one you used to root at first. you can find it in the dev section
Credits~ dsexton702 and the Samsung Galaxy S 4G community (for reporting bugs and what not)
Link: Universal Adrenaline Shot BL XIX
Sorry for putting it up as a link to the thread. i cant find the link for the download. ( YOU MUST DOWNLOAD/FLASH THE UNIVERSAL BL VERSIONS! )
im on EB rom with clockwork recovery. is it safe to flash?
reason i am asking is because i do not have an external SD card and i can't make backups.
EDIT: flash away
You must not read very well. These need a kernel that supports init.d to work correctly.

THIS WILL WORK ON ANY 2.1 OR HIGHER ANDROID DEVICE
[BAll versions are now compatible with supercharger script[/B]
REQUIREMENTS
kernel that supports init.d
IN CWM MOUNT /SYSTEM BEFORE FLASHING
it raised my fps + keeps it steady as opposed to fluctuating.
used this on the sgs4g worked great!

Flashed while running EB 1.0 with official CWR confirmed safe....
I have not noticed any difference thou...at all....a bit confused as to if this makes any difference for us sg2 users....
Wats this liquid transition stuff mentioned? That sounded pretty awesome
Ill get back with battery life information...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I'm running EB 1.0 and I DEF saw a difference in my cfbench score. Jumped by a thousand points. WTF?!! Awesome!
This is for modified kernel and your supposed to delete your init.d folder before flash. It works great on the gs4g. Not sure if it will even do anything for us YET. This is a great tweak and dsexton702 is boss!

Updater-script issue?
Did anyone that flash this get an error in CWM Recovery that ends with an aborted installation? I've mounted /system and ran the script off my /sdcard/external_sd - unsure if I need this ran off my internal or not.
Additionally, the updater-script that comes with the BL version has blocks that don't seem to correspond with our partitions?
Original updater-script:
Code:
ui_print("Mounting System...");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/dev/block/stl9", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/dev/block/stl10", "/data");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/dev/block/stl11", "/cache");
I edited the script on my end; I assume that our blocks are different than the OP's device, but I haven't flashed it yet (will test that in a few):
Code:
ui_print("Mounting System...");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p24", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p25", "/data");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p26", "/cache");
If anyone has reported errors, do let us know what remedy you used to solve it.
EDIT:
No errors for me after script change, until it hits the wiping of /data/dalvik-cache (don't quite understand why the script fails here).
Including screenshots of post-tweak application:

Are you using a kernel that supports it that seems like a must before flashing and when you mount the system it then should appear as unmount hope this helps.

Thats what I was thinking because when I flashed eaglesblood rom and glowing battery mod in cwr I just cleared cache and delvik cache and flashed away with no issues at all although besides formatting system but that was only required for the rom and everything works nice!

(CLOSED)[DEVS NEEDED] A little help?

I decided to try my hand at making a rom, but honestly am not sure i know what I'm doing lol. I would like someone who does know to take a look at it (?) and maybe offer a pointer or two? I haven't done anything special to it, it's stock based, no real add ons except I attempted to add some tweaks (kobridges) and a recovery (which I also got from kobridges thread) I don't dare flash it without someone seeing if I didn't totally bork it lol.
Thanks
[EDIT: Posted in Dev section, decided to go with FI27 base and very minor mods]
I might be brave and test it on e4gt with cracked screen and broke no charge port

Just stop there... if you don't dare flashing something that you have created, I don't think anyone else should risk their device for you. As long as you didn't make any major changes, it should be fine... but just seeing your lack of confidence, I would not flash it.

You misunderstood me, I don't want anyone else to flash it, just look at the build prop and tell me if I did everything right.
I'm in a 12 step program for Flashaholics, I relapsed...
The build.prop shouldn't really change if it's stock based. Maybe a few minor tweaks, but those shouldn't affect whether it boots or not.

Ok, and it opens package and aborts install, so I screwed something up. Any idea where to start? Sorry I really don't know much about this :banghead:

Maybe the recovery is in the wrong place?
You don't need to do that. Just use a custom kernel like rujelus' which has a safe custom recovery and delete that file. You'll have to edit the updater script to do it though.
It'll be like this:
Code:
ui_print("Flashing Kernel");
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p5");
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p6");
package_extract_file("zImage", "/tmp/zImage");
write_raw_image("/tmp/zImage", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p5");
write_raw_image("/tmp/zImage", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p6");
delete("/tmp/zImage");
And then place the kernel zImage in the root of the zip.
Also, the aborted install is most likely from your updater script.

I've no idea whats causing the install to fail. Obviously I'm not a coder lol so this is all kind of alien to me.

What's the error it gives when trying to flash it? Also the format of mmcblk0p5 and 6 are unneeded. And will probably break lots of things if you do by chance get them formatted because they have no filesystem.

{Script} Bloatware Removal CM10/AOKP - Updated 10/30 All in One Zip

Guys I have put together some script that will help you slim down your CM10/AOKP rom and since I was getting a lot of PM's for it I just decided to post it. Please note that this is what I personally remove and you may not want it removed. Feel free to download it and manipulate it using notepad ++. For those of you not to sure what to do post your questions and I will try and help you. For those of you who know how to manipulate updater-script Enjoy.....
Just wanna say thanks to whomever it was the originally started the script. I am not sure where I got it from but I thank you anyways...
Edit: added an English Only LatinIME apk file which cuts out a lot of bloat as well. 24megs to 5megs. Please use adb or root explorer to place in system/app. I will try and create a zip file later.
10/30 - Just added a Apps_Delete zip file that will remove Bloat and add your data/app or system/ files all at the same time. This is great if you want to restore everything in one shot like inverted gapps and your downloaded apk's.

Flash via recovery... tested with TWRP

I assume we install this in recovery?
Also is there a way to script all the changes you make to rom settings from defaults?

All the changes made are listed above and yes you flash via recovery I have only flashed via TWRP but it should work with both. Sorry for any delay in responding guys I am on vacation

Since ParanoidAndroid is a firm of a cm10 rom will this work with the rom?

Honestly this should work with stock or any Hercules based rom. Just set it up with what you want removed and go at it. I do not know exactly what is loaded up with PA so I do not know what to exactly remove. The names of certain files may differ. I would compare and make changes then go for it

More space for your apps to run which also allows your system to run smoother. I can probably chop another 15 megs just with fonts. So to answer your question it does some of both.
Hi nice program, I'm on CM10. I did the following.
Flashed M10 and gapps and rebooted to recovery
Flashed the CM10 script and rebooted phone.
I still have these wallpapers on the phone
Black Hole
Bubbles
Microbes
Phase Beam
Also I would like to remove
Messaging and Face unlock.
I downloaded an installed notepad ++ but got nowhere when I tried to edit the zip file.
I'm not a total noob but failed miserably here.
OK, I figured out how to add apps to be removed, but still have the above wallpapers on the phone.(deleting manually with RootBox)
I can't find the above wallpapers in system/app using root browser so I don't know how to get rid of them.
Also I have one app on the SD card that I want to install(appwidget picker) Is it possible to add to the script?
And I want to add a notification sound(from SD card)if possible.
I'm doing the above manually now but it would be really neat if I could include them in the script.
Can you give me some hints please

Yes it can all be added, first off setup a folder on the zip file for system/media/notification and add the file there. Secondly add a folder for system/app/ and then add app widget picker. Which by the way is not needed with Apex or Nova. PM me when you do that part I am away from PC and will finish off the rest when I get home

I added a Apps_Delete zip in the OP for those who want to have all there eggs in one basket. You can now deBloat and add your inverted apps or data apps at the same time. As always fully customizable to your needs. Just add folders as needed and flash. I have tested numerous times on TWRP without error..
If I want to make some changes to the script (remove some additional programs that I don't use and not delete some items that I want to keep) - how do I do that? Can I just edit the script in the zip file?
Thanks,

Apps run in /data this cleans up /system which is only used for the ROM, this does not create any more space for the regular user unless they start installing apps as system apps and remembering to move them to the system every time they are updated. Also, removing fonts and ringtones will not make a system run any smoother. While I am at it, I'd like to point out that there is 0 evidence that more free space = faster running phone. I'm not saying there is no point to this, as I like to remove things I won't use (though with freeze/disable, these days it is less important to actually uninstall them) and keep a tighter organization going on... just that the point is not those you are making. This will not make your phone fly, fart bacon, or magically delicious. But, it can remove clutter, provide comfort to obsessive compulsive people, and therefore has its place.
PS - don't start the argument that less apps = less running processes = more faster.... Android's memory management is pretty stellar, and it has been proven that free memory is just wasted memory, and cached background processes do not interfere with an applications ability to get as much of the memory as it demands for its tasks.

The least you could do is to edit the updater script so people don't brick their phones flashing this.

r4 - Custom ROM starter template - Honor 5X KIW-L21 B330

As well as my own MoDaCo Custom ROM for the 5X, I've created a custom ROM starter template for anyone who wants to have a go. It's a bit different.
Basically, this ROM template will let you create your own custom ROM VERY easily. Easier than ever before. All you have to do is...
download my ROM template zip
make the changes to the system of your phone just as you'd like them for your custom ROM
run some commands on your device via ADB
add the 2 resulting files to the template zip
That's it! No messaging around with install scripts, no rebuilding anything complex, just mod - and go!
Preparation
ONLY if you are completing the process for the first time, you need to set up a file on your microSD card - so launch and ADB shell and type the following commands...
Code:
touch /sdcard/exclude
echo app > /sdcard/exclude
echo priv-app >> /sdcard/exclude
echo delapp >> /sdcard/exclude
ROM build
Once you have your system up and running how you want it, and you're ready to distribute it (just the system and cust dirs mind, it won't pull the data dir, so your personal data is safe), reboot to recovery, launch an ADB shell and type the following commands:
Code:
mount /system
tar -X /sdcard/exclude -zcvpf /sdcard/system.therest.tar.gz /system/
tar -zcvpf /sdcard/system.apps.tar.gz /system/app /system/priv-app /system/delapp
mount /cust
tar -zcvpf /sdcard/cust.tar.gz /cust
You'll then end up with 3 new files on your SD card - system.apps.tar.gz (which is apps and priv-apps from system), system.therest.tar.gz (which, as the name suggests, is the rest of the system partition!) and cust.tar.gz with is the cust partition contents.
Update the template zip with these 3 files and that's it. It's ready to distribute for people to flash via TWRP! If you have updated the boot image, you'll need to replace that too, the easiest way is to do a TWRP backup then pull that file from the SD card and drop it into the template zip as boot.img. That's really it!
I hope this inspires a few people to start playing around with custom ROMs for the 5X... more cool things coming soon!
Oh and the all important template file...

Thankyou, can I use this script for L-22? And will your MoDaCo rom will work with L-22?
I don't think this one will in its entirety, but you can make your own template by pulling the boot image from the TWRP backup and using the commands above to create the files to put in the zip.

I tested it on my L24-B140 and it worked just fine. Thanks for sharing
I think it's going to be worth integrating /cust into this too, as they are a lot of things pulled from there (such as the build.prop changes). It'll be simple enough though.
re: non KIW-L21 devices, creating a template for other models shouldn't be any issue at all. I'm getting a US spec Honor 5X, so that'll be helpful.

Are you referring to the cust/hw/USA/prop/local.prop
the rest of the stuff in cust seems pretty standard like (media/bootanimation.zip)
Might as well make all of /cust changeable.

so just add tar -zcvpf /sdcard/system.apps.tar.gz /system/app /system/priv-app /cust
or does it need it's own line and an updater-script edit to include it
That should probably work. updater-script will need to include mounting /cust too.
