Hi,
On my HTC desire:
I was wondering, is there a way to keep the screen on while the phone is locked.
Why i ask, when i am using endomondo running app i want to see times and distances without having to unlock my phone while running.
So if the screen should stay on, but the phone was locked, i could look at times and distances without touching my phone.
Leaving the phone unlocked is not an option, because the phone is in a phonebracket while running. So no keys/touchscreen should be working at that time.

Today my friend got his HTC Desire, attempted update to 2.2 (I think that's what he tried)...
before the update started, the screen went black. He cancelled the update and hard rebooted the device. Still no luck. there's nothing appearing on the screen at all.
The other features of the device all work, the phone works, and the touch screen is registering input, the reboot key combination appears to work, but the screen isn't displaying anything, and the backlight isn't coming on at all.
Any ideas as to why this is happening, and what can be done to make the Desire desirable once more?
Have you tried rooting it?
is it a branded or debranded Desire?
Can you confirm what it was he was doing??
It's a UK o2 branded Desire, he was attempting to debrand at the time.
We have tried both warm and cold reboots
This sounds like a hardware problem. I am facing the same issue, but it's sporadic. For me it started before I rooted (so I don't think it's related), and the screen went blank with a single pixel width white line at the top. After a while the screen would gradually go green. I found that it fixed itself after either taking the battery out or waiting a while. I'm gonna return my handset after I unroot it (t-mobile uk, locked), but will have to wait till I get back from abroad. I'm hoping the t-mobile update won't be out when I get back cos I want to be able to root it.

he's had it replaced by o2... thankfully he hadn't rooted it before the problem occurred, and they straight up swapped it for him
Wavesecure is now working after upgrading ROM
Thanks for the heads up, actually.
I think if they can get the application to autostart from boot, it will solve this problem?

Hi
I have HTC desire running neophyte 1.7.1
I have purchased wavesecure but it malfunctions
The problem is that while the HTC is locked you can take the battery out
After putting the battery again the desire comes up without the lock thus you are not protected
I have downloaded a debug version and sent wavesecure the info but still (~ 2 weeks) there is no resolution
The company does not refund the money
My advice save your money for working application

I was curious and just tried that. Locked my phone via the web interface of WaveSecure, turned it off, removed the battery for 10 seconds, then pop up the battery back and powered it on. As soon as the Android booted up, the WaveSecure lock screen showed up.
I think in your case the problem is having a custom ROM installed. I'm running stock Froyo and WaveSecure runs without any problems. I do not regret a bit the money that I spend on it.
PS. Something strange, when the lock screen is up, you can press the Home button and you will actually get to the home screen, but after 2-3 seconds, the lock screen shows up again. I think I did not had that before. Probably of the Froyo or the OTA update after it causes this. But this is not a problem, it works perfectly.
Hi guys today my phone's screen I think just died. I turn it on and then the screen lights up (like its still black but it gets brighter), the phone vibrates and then loads. The thing though is that it also loaded up android and everything. I can tell because I wait for a while and then put my phone to sleep, then I wake it again and since I have no password on my phone I just slide to unlock it. It vibrates showing that I unlocked it so the touchscreen still works. Can anyone help?
Loose cable in screen? U rooted or anythin? Return for repair if you can.

Hi,
Recently, my Desire HD has crapped out during the process of changing my back ground wall paper. It restarted and some how the screen got stuck on lock screen with the screen being totally unresponsive. I can tell the device is "semi-working" as the top bar shows that the phone does all its start up processes and the top lock button works (although it is with a delay).
Is there a reason why this is happening?
Any solution to it? (Yes I have gone through google for 2 hours without solution found)
If I have to resort to hard reset, is there any way I can back up my messages + things in the phone aside from programs before resetting?
Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance!
frozen lockscreen
my desire has done the same thing since rooting and using android rev rom. the only way i got mine to respond was to drop the battery out then put it back in and reboot with the charger plugged in and switched on. as soon as the phone is on, unlock it and use it. this did the trick with me. hope it helps.
I had recently unlocked my phone because i've been trying to root it to remove the bloatware that comes on the system. The phone was working fine (for about a couple of days) and suddenly the lock screen shows up static-y looking. Everything still works (kind of). If you know where the slide is to unlock it, you can, and after awhile it goes to normal looks. Also, the device is running semi-buggy and slow. Any ideas / help?
Thanks
