What features does it have that the stable 7.1 doesn't?
Can it be flashed over 7.1 without wiping data?
Would it even be worth it, or better to just wait for an official CM 9 release?
I was using that for a long time before I switched to ICS. I did not wipe going from the stable build to the nightlies. Just make a nandorid backup if you are worried but you should not have any problems flashing over your current cm7.1

I'm new to the ROM stuffs. So can any one explain what is the difference between CM7 and the nightly build one??
Nightlies are automated builds, with potentially more new features, and more bugs. So, they are not officially supported (As in, support for bugs). Stable, as the name suggests, is a stable build with official support for bugs.
So If we wan't a stable rom, we shouldn't use nightly build right??
Probably Yes. But it isn't always that you are using a nightly, it will be full of bugs. I am using a Nightly and have no issues.
yes , nightly's have bugs sometime so if u want stable rom use CM7-7.0.3 which is the latest stable release
Im currently on daily #69 and thinking about upgrading to the latest #111.
Should i upgrade to the latest? Im using the latest Telus radio as well. Is there a good kernel to use on top of the latest?
Cyanogenmod released 7.10 RC1 about two hours ago. Would recommend you go for that one instead of nightly 111. Mix it with LordModUE 4.5.1 and it should be a nice combo. Just be weary of battery drain issues if you flash the kernel version with 2 way call recording.
Full wipe is probably a good idea. Just nandroided and am about to flash myself.
I'm agree, prefer the 7.1 RC and you must do a full wipe because there is lot of changes between #69 and 7.1 RC. LordModUE is a very good option.
i was wondering what the difference is between the 2.....i have the nightly but i just saw the stable and was wondering what would change?
Nightly might have some features that would make it unstable. So it is considered experimental for the most part. Stable means the Rom is set with little to no problems. I would suggest the stable build if you don't want to keep flashing your phone.

ok so i have the cm7 nightly the latest one....so the latest stable release is the better of the 2?
Well it's pretty simple: Stable builds are just that, stable. Nightly builds are experimental builds, meant to try out for a day, and if people have problems, they will be fixed the next night.
So if you want a stable build, flash a stable rom. If you dont mind a few bugs, flash the nightly.
Cm nightly 256 is nearly flawless and arguably, even better than the "stable" version
^ is right, sometimes the nighly out do the stable, just have to find the right one
Okay so I know what is CM9 is but what is the difference between CM9 and a CM9 nightly?
I've looked it up but couldn't really find anything about it.
A nightly is a rom that is build daily. The regular CM9 is build once an Update from google comes. Nightlys are sometiems unstable and mostly for advanced users and developers. If you don't know very much about android developing and flashing just go with the normal CM9 rom

Yeah, what he said....good advice.
I have tried CM7 but never the nightly versions. If you have to have to depend on your phone and don't want to deal with "possible" issues, just stick to the regular rom and skip the nightly versions. The regular versions get updated anyway as the bugs get worked out of the nightly versions.
What is a nightly build? And is it okay for me to install the CM9 nightly build?
This one to be exact: cm-9-20120708-NIGHTLY-p930.zip
A nightly build is essentially a beta build. It still has some bugs, but they are fixed and updated often(to keep up, you would flash every day or two when the new nightly comes out). If you want something a little slower, but not quite as up to date, the RC1 is a good place to start and it is my daily driver and has been since it came out. There are a couple small bugs, but nothing deal breaking that i have found yet. I will probably continue to update with the RC releases since it requires less time flashing and restoring.
So yes, it is absolutely OK to install the nightly build and you can even stay with it until another RC comes out if you want.
