Anyone get GTA 3 running smooth? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious to see if anyone has the game running smooth? If so then what rom are you running or tricks you used?

Not really possible with only a 1ghz processor and no gpu.

Oo I was hoping it was possible. Sux

The evo has an adreno 200 gpu, GTA runs like crap because there isn't enough free RAM after the system and apps load the evo actually has a better CPU and higher clock speed and better GPU than a ps2 does but only half the RAM and that's before the phone is booted the ps2 is clocked at 800mhz and has a crap GPU with only 128mb dedicated graphical RAM but has 1024mb (1gb) ddr2 or 3 system RAM if the evo had 1gb+ RAM GTA3 would have no issues running, it runs pretty good on the evo on a stripped down AOSP ROM with no extras running like Widgets fancy launchers background apps etc
We are legion, for we are many

It runs pretty good on decks with only necessary apps and none open
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702

LMAO where did you pull these specs from?
PS2 runs at ~300mhz and has 32mb of ram....
even the PS3 only has 256mb of system ram and 256mb of video ram.

[Q] PS2 emulator

My question is why is there no ps2 emulator available for our devices?
if you look at the ps2 specs its got a 300mhz processor, 32mb ram, and a gpu which is nothing special.
Why is the ps2 emulator not possible??
Emulation of the ps2 is more complicated than just matching specs
like ram and processor speed. basically software is written and the emulator has to emulate the hardware of the ps2, while still also having to use memory and the processor for other processes. Video emulation, sound emulation, graphic processor, user input, disc drive, memory cards, all of these processes are doing their thing and three load on your processor, and the amount if ram in use, is much higher than just 300mhz and 32 megs.
Take for instance the ps1 emulators available for Android devices, and the emulation still isn't perfect running over 1ghz on our devices.
the very ancient commodore amiga series of computers (a500, etc) would completely underwhelm you with it's memory and processing prowess, but because the architecture has to be processed and all the different systems run in tandem even a lot of people today still have problems with perfect emulation.
is it possible in the foreseeable future as devices grow and are more capable, absolutely, will we see it in the g2? I'm doubtful.
Keep in mind, even the hardware and software emulation created by Sony for the old phat ps3's was not perfect, and actually quite sub par.

1.8ghz vs 2.3ghz

There are two variants of 4gig model
1.8 and 2.3 .
I wanna know how much difference is there between them ?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00A using Tapatalk
The extra 2gb makes all the difference. 1.8 vs 2.3 isn't much of a factor. If 64gb and a quick charger is worth $60 to you, then the extra cpu speed is a bonus.
You will probably see the difference in gaming, multitasking and power hungry apps.
The thing is you can clock down the cpu with a 2.3 but you cannot overclock a 1.8 to 2.3.
are there?, we are talking about z551 right?, from what I knew, the 1.8ghz model only have 2gb ram, while buying the 4gb ram one gives you 2.3ghz proc. But CMIIW.

I dont see difference between 1.8 and 2.3GHz. I usually underclock the Z3580 to 1.83GHz (less, sometimes), and I dont feel drop in the smoothness.
If you can spend some more, its better you go with the 2.3GHz Model.

How to increase Internal,Ram

Hey guys I have a Xperia s running on 6.0.1 aosp ROM...it is rooted and repartitioned ...can anyone tell me how to get the complete 32gb and 1gb ram coz the custom ROM has eaten my 3gb internal and I need full 1gb ram ..thks
Have you ever used a computer before?
The OS needs resources, it's a piece of software after all. The GPU will, in turn take some RAM, as it's not exactly a GeForce with dedicated RAM.
In other words, the only way you're getting 32 GB and 1 GB of RAM is if you uninstall everything, including the OS. Good luck doing anything with it other than holding down some sheets of paper or balancing a table.

OP3 use of RAM memory

Hello, i recently bought a One Plus 3, basically because i wanted to have more RAM, but i noticed that even though i have like 6Gb of Ram to do whatever i want, the phone uses with nothing open like 1,5Gb of RAM, the 500mb of RAM doesn't bother me because they come from apps i usually use, but the fact the launcher itself uses 1Gb is like way too much, i come from a Galaxy S3 with less than 1Gb of Ram and the TouchWiz laucher which is heavy only used like 400-500mb of RAM why is this? I know the easiest answer would be that the OP3 has more things, but do we really gain a lot more of functions that justify this heavy use of RAM from the launcher, or are we looking at not-well optimized launcher?
well your gs3 couldnt really use 1gb of ram and the oneplus 3 can. easy as that.

that means the OP3 is not as well optimized as the touchwiz?
No.. GS3 runs older OS like kitkat but as OS Improves they require more ram OP3 is now on Nougat which is amazing so duh... It needs more ram
Unused RAM is wasted RAM. As the OP3 has 6GB of RAM, it can allocate more RAM to certain apps and the launcher to ensure that nothing is closed in the background and everything runs smooth. Don't worry about RAM usage. For example if you launch a game, the game will then have priority to ensure that it is allocated enough RAM. Android is smart in its use of RAM so no need to worry.

That's why we have 6 gigs of RAM. Think little bit. They can use it as we have it. Pretty simple, right?
See its similar to methodology as if you you have larger space on bed you will occupy more space, similar to this when you have higher ram allocation to particular app is continuously decreased and increased so if no other apps are running allocation to your launcher will be higher to give it a smoother operation but as you start opening more ram hungry apps the allocation then decreases allocation for uelr launcher and allocate it accordingly
Go check how RAM and RAM management works.
It's kinda pointless to waste time explaining something here if you lack the basics about this topic.
Long story short: the more you have, the more will be used. Take the same desktop OS, install it on machines with vastly different RAM capacities and you'll see different RAM usages.

The more used ram the better, at least in vast majority of scenarios

using VRAM as swap space ???

Hi all,
I was wondering...
The Pixel C has 3GB of ram and 1GB of VRAM.
Would it be possible to use part of the VRAM, instead of using the 500MB zram, as swap space?
I personally exclusively use my PixelC in a chroot environment with debian and Xserver Xsdl, so GPU is not much used anyway, so there is almost 1GB of memory just sitting there unused...
I have read the following pages that mention that something was/is possible on desktop NVIDIA gpus...
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6321551/how-to-use-graphics-memory-as-ram
https://web.archive.org/web/2016032...iki.info/TIP_Use_memory_on_video_card_as_swap
By the way... would it be remotely possible to swap out the ram chips? from what i understand there are 2 1.5 GB samsung chips on the board...
Would do anything to get more memory on my beloved tablet
