Well, I am quite confused as I read and searched this forum, but could not come with a exact answer. What is the best way to transfer my sms messages from my T-mobile Vibrant (Froyo 2.2.1) to T989 (Stock rooted KL1 rom).
Many Thanks
Download SMS back up and restore app for your vibrant, back all your SMS. Then find the files on your phones directory (should be .XML) and put it on your comp. Download the same app on your gs2 and move the file to your gs2 and restore.

I had my e4gt fully flashed to metro pcs about two months ago when it was running gingerbread.... I saved all my files and apps onto a SD card. I decided to upgrade to ICS. Knowing my MMS might not work. So know I'm running the goodness FH13. I transferred the android messaging app 2.3.7 and my MMS works. But my problem is I'm running the roms messaging and it only let's me send receive Texs. To get Mms I need to use my old android app. I can't get into the settings of the 2.3.7 . It fore closes my phone. It doesn't show the callers name only #. But the other tex app shows names. What can I do just to use one texting app? Sounds confusing but that's how I'm set up as of right now. I'm a noobie and scared to mess with it. Because it all works :what:

Is there any way to get the stock messaging app to automatically change the file name when saving an mms? It promts me every time telling me to rename it or else it will overwrite the last one... Not the end of the world, but incredibly irritating.

No idea, but if you just want a convenient backup of your texts, this one seems them to your gmail. They'll be threaded weird and out of order, but easily searchable.
Oops, I can't post links yet. It's called SMS Backup+, available on the play market.

I do actually use that (and have been for quite awhile) its very handy for lots of reasons. I just like saving all of them to my phone too though.

I have the same problem, you can continue naming each individual picture with numbers you just randomly think of, its rare I repeated the same number. Or download a third party app like Handscent or Go SMS which just downloads the MMS without worrying about a particular designation. Every once in awhile you run across a Touchwiz rom that doesn't have this problem, but its usually a ASOP rom that just downloads MMS without this problem.

That's about what I figured. I used to use handcent but the stock app has made leaps and bounds over the years so I like sticking with that. I've been doing the random letters after going to save it, but in you ef up and do by chance pick something you already used, it will overwrite it.

Any update or solution to this issue? From what I remember my Samsung Epic 4G did not have this problem, as a matter of fact it did exactly what we are trying to get the Galaxy S3 to do by default. I find that this should have not been an issue, why on earth would someone NOT think to make this a basic function/feature?....
Hi guys,
I'm moving from an s3 to s4 and when i restore the xml sms file using titanium it crashes on the s4 and only restores maybe 10% of the messages. Anyone any suggestions - thanks!

I don't it's gonna work like that. You could use an app called sms backup and restore, but that app doesn't restore mms.

Not sure if it'll work from S3 -> S4, but it might?
Good luck.

I'm running 4.1.2 and I created a folder and copied some texts to it within the messenger. Where is this folder stored? I'm trying to move them to an ad card and onto another phone.

Download a file manager from the play store and search the internal memory as well as the SD card for a folder that might contain the messages.
If you still can't find the backed up messages, then download an app from the play store that backs up messages, there's plenty of them on there.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I can't ever recall being able to create folders and backup/export/import text messages from within the messaging app to the sdcard??
I am stock 4.1.2 and do not see this as an option. Nor have I ever, and I've looked! Only way I know to do this without an sms backup app is to copy the db file from telephony....If I've missed something I would definitely like to know!
