Although I have been doing a lot of reading the last few months, I am new to posting, so please bear with. My DINC just started randomly rebooting about 2 weeks ago and I am trying to figure out why. It was running great before with (rooted) Skyraider 3.0 RC3 Vanilla, kings BFS#5, S-Off, 2.15 radio and HBoot .79. The problems began when I installed Juice Defender, didn't really like it, and then un-installed it. I did not disable anything JD did before un-installing. Now, with the same set-up as before, I get random reboots when I'm on Explorer for a few minutes, when GPS Navigation is on, and then randomly on GChat and the Market. It seems to happen more when the temp is higher, but it's rarely over 100 degrees F. Half of the reboots end up in QualComm debug mode. I have tried a full wipe and reinstalling the ROM, kernel and prior settings. The only thing I can think of is that Juice Defender changed some type of setting, application or system, and now it's having fits. I downloaded aLogCat and had it running during the last reboot and can PM the .txt file if you think that would help. Does anyone know what's going on or how I can fix it? Any help is great appreciated!
Also, the current applications that I have are:
ad-free
advanced task manager
beautiful widgets
setCPU
amazon reader
scorecenter
Mint.com
switchpro
bump
battery indicator
astro
root explorer
rom manager
barcode scanner
facebook

Are you overclocking? Some phones can't handle much and it's known to cause similar problems. Other than that I'm not sure if anything JD changes would remain once it's un-installed; but if so you might install it again, change everything back to stock, then un-install it. Just a guess, hope you get it figured out
I'm pretty sure the DINC has rebooting problems.
What version do you have, SLCD or LED?
I've had the LED version since it's released and I just started getting random reboots last month or so. Sometimes it goes into fits and just reboots nonstop for a couple hours. I've reverted it back to completely stock (unrooted, S-ON, stock recovery, stock 2.2 ROM) and I still have the same problem. Using stock battery as well. I've always cleared cache, factory reset, clear data, etc. I've done everything I can think of, but I think this phone just has problems that some people encounter even when completely stock (and even people who have never modified their phone at all if you do some searches on google).
It may have to do with the heat, I'm going to keep doing some testing. It seems like it goes into reboot fits when it gets hot or when I'm doing a lot of processing like using GPS and maps. It rarely reboots when it's idle.

Same here. Exchanged it with Verizon, almost no questions asked. Got AMOLED refurb, so far so good. Replacement was with OTA installed though, so waiting for new root.
You should revert your phone to fully stock, turn S-ON, unroot, stock ROM, etc. Make it look as legit as possible. If your problems go away then obviously something got screwed up in the flashing process. If your problems remain, then it's something wrong with the actual phone, and since you just made it completely stock you're in the perfect shoes to go exchange it.
In summary, the best measure to take if you're having reboot problems is to exchange it at a Verizon store; that's what most people are doing.
I'm going to exchange mine tomorrow. It should be covered under the 1 year warranty so you should not need insurance to do it.
Just an update: I am still having random reboots after uninstalling Advanced Task Manager and Widget Locker (read in posts these can cause problems). Now even when I use Amazon reader, the phone reboots rather quickly. One thing to note is that when I turn off 3G, it hasn't rebooted. This was one of my thoughts to begin with since approximately all of the reboots occurred when I was using 3G (browser, market, GChat and Nav). Does this narrow down any problems?
Next, I am going to install the new Skyraider 3.0 (ihtfp69 said it should be out first week of Dec.) and install apps one-by-one to see if the rebooting continues. Then I guess I will have to go s-off, unroot, etc. Crossing my fingers...
Sounds to me that you have the faulty overheating 3G radio..it is a somewhat documented problem and I believe it's the same problem I have. The only solution is to swap it at a verizon store. I'm afraid other ROMs or anything else you do will not solve the problem.

Odds are your radio is failing, which is a relatively common problem. Your symptoms are pretty much a textbook example and something that I experienced firsthand on my previous Incredible. The only fix is a warranty exchange.
That's disappointing. Thanks for the info everyone. I guess it's time to start the process of unrooting...
I thought I would post my situation/solution here, although it may not have any bearing on the issues that previous posters have mentioned. I got myself a Seidio 3500mAh Extended Life Battery several months ago. The first month was good. The next 1-2 months seemed to bring decreased battery performance - I was just about making it through a day with moderately-heavy use, but this battery should be able to handle that with no problem.
Over the last month I started having random reboots and it was getting more frequent. I don't know why but I just had this feeling that the battery was coming a bit loose and losing contact occasionally, although I couldn't force a reboot by shaking it.
Just a few days ago I decided to put a few layers of paperboard (i.e., box of tissues) between the battery and the case, just to see what happened. I haven't had any random reboots since I did that and the battery life seems markedly improved.
Again, this may not be relevant for some but I thought I would post my experience in case it helps anyone.

Interesting. I'm using the big batt too, but my only reboots happen with GPS. As I'm driving (unfortunately) with my Nav on, all of a sudden, I look to see what my next turn is, and I'm on the "HTC Incredible" splash screen! Most annoying thing ever.
I'm still waiting for a fix. I really don't want to unroot, lose everything, and have to exchange for a warranty phone.
By the way, with a fix like this, I feel like my blackberry days again!
Hi,
I recently bought a Galaxy Nexus and rooted it right then and there. A couple of weeks later it went into the bootloop (disease) and I had to restore my phone from scratch (loosing all my SD card stuff as well ). So I decided to go with AOKP M4.
Again a couple of weeks later AOKP just freezes while I was trying to access Maps. No buttons work and the screen stays ON. Had to pull out the battery to bring the phone back to life.
This time I said, let's go for ARHD 3.0... all works fine and I flash to ARHD 4.0 with complete superwipe. Then last night it freezes again when I was trying to access GTalk. Same thing, had to pull the battery out to bring it back to life.
Now I'm wondering if there's a problem with the GAPPS on the GNex? Or there's something else brewing in the background while I carry on my daily tasks. The phone is great, but this freezing is making me go crazy.
If you guys have had similar issues before, and have found any solutions to those, I'd appreciate your help in that.
Thanks.
could be one of your apps
I had a few lockups on stock 4.0.1 when I first got my phone, but after it updated to 4.0.4, and my subsequent move to custom ROMs I haven't had any issues with my phone freezing.

This. Were there any shared circumstances between your lockups? I noticed that my phone lockups on 4.0.1 all occurred under the following circumstances: I was listening to music and writing a text message when a new message was received. Every time.
I definitely haven't had any freezes like that so far for the life of my 3 months. It certainly sounds like something unique with your setup is following you around. An app most likely.
Hmmm ... thanks for your help. I have seen the phone freeze twice in two days. Battery pull restores it every time however.
I don't have anything installed which plays around with my settings (ex: setcpu etc.) Except Tasker!
I can try disabling the app for a week to root cause it!
Thanks.

Hi,
First post, feels like I'm a little late to the party. I have a gio which initially had gingerbread 2.3.3. The phone is unlocked, and rooted, and has the clock work mod recovery patch on it. I have tried a couple of different versions of gingerbread, and am now running ice cream sandwich: kernel 2.6.35-7-galaxyics, CyanogenMod version build 9-20120610-UNOFFICIAL-gio, build number IMM76L.
Firmware-wise, it's mostly good, but I'm having a couple of weird issues:
1. The screen goes black on me periodically, and won't come back without pushing the on/off button. This is happening every 30 to 60 seconds of use.
2. The wifi crashes, a lot. With the older gingerbread I would get the word "error" under wifi in settings, and couldn't turn it back on. I would enter *#*#526#*#* to bring it back, but every 5 minutes seems a little excessive.
With the newer ICS, I've noticed I can play on a wifi link all day long without issue, but as soon as I set the phone down for a couple of minutes, wifi stops working. If I go into settings, wifi is on, but there's no connection. If I turn wifi off and back on, it comes back to life.
I guess, I'm wondering if these indicate more of a hardware issue than a software issue. It's hard to ask for support from my carrier, given I'm using an unlocked phone bought from a 3rd party, and have no contract.

And welcome !

Errors that you describe has a lot of people
The team is now working on ICS AOSP so be patient wait a little meringue as soon
And yet you propose to install something else that any CM
In total there is this quite a bit
update
A couple of things I've noticed:
1. The resetting wifi problem does not happen when the phone is plugged into USB.
2. The screen turning off happens frequently, but about 1/2 of the time, the screen will turn off for 1-2 seconds, then come back on at full brightness; the rest of the time, it will not come back on at all, but still responds to being tapped. The only way to get it back is to push the on/off button on the side twice, but then the screen is locked, and has to be swiped to unlock.
I have picked up a second phone, a 5660M running stock gingerbread 2.3.4, unlocked and rooted; not experiencing either of the two above issues (and the camera preview works). If I could take the 5660 back to stock at this point, I would prefer that, as the phone is not usable with these problems. Is there a stock rom available for this phone somewhere?
update part II
Hmm, after the phone showed up with 2.3.3 claiming to be a gt-s5660, and was sold as such, I finally put 1 & 1 together. I checked under the battery, it's a gt-s5660m. That explains probably all of the problems I've been having. Pity there's no ICS build for the M version of the phone.
You can use cm9 ics on your M model, it only changes your device id to gt-s5660, just dont flash roms with ODIN except roms for the M model.
Flashing from recovery wont install a baseband, with ODIN it mostly does, so the only roms you cant flash are old roms that still need odin like gioprio.
Flashable .zips are fine, all of them

The wifi problem might be hardware, m8
I don't know, as my gio has some strange problems as well and I've had ICS, Adrenaline ROMs, everything, and the problems still persist. At least they're not really bad to handle in everyday use but still, they're annoying.
Go to wifi settings - advanced - sleep policy- never

update part III
Since going back to GINGERBREAD.MUGKG3 / 2.3.4 for the GT-S5660M, the wifi crashing and screen blanking behaviours have completely stopped. After two days of running, wifi has not shut-off unexpectedly even once, and the screen does not blank any more at all.
The gps works now; it was not before. It used to sit for up to an hour under a clear open sky, day or night, and never acquire a single satellite. Now it picks them up within 30-60 seconds, though a full lock does take a couple of minutes.
The phone previously always indicated it was roaming, and would frequently refuse to send texts or make calls. I would get full bars for signal strength, but no connectivity.
I even got hold of the fm radio app, which was not included with the M version of the 5660, and manually installed it (phone must be rooted, and file system must be mounted read/write). It works too; a nice bonus.
The camera works, but is a bit flaky, requiring an occasional restart to get it going.
Probably the biggest headache, after flashing back to the 5660M version, was that the phone locked itself again, and wouldn't work on my network. I dumped bml5 page and searched out the unlock code. I had some trouble with this. The search string to get close to the code is supposed to be a sequence of twenty 0x00 bytes, one 0x05 byte, and fourteen 0xff bytes. The 0xff bytes weren't there, and it took a while for me to clue in that if I searched on the twenty 0x00, and single 0x05 byte sequence, I could still pull it out. I got it, and wrote it down in case this happens again.
sms issue
Still ticking along with the GT-S5660M; mostly it's all working nicely. I have one question though: I recently ran out of memory for storing SMS messages. It looks like the texting app in the phone wants to put everything on the SIM card rather than on the SD card, but there's no option for moving the default storage location for messages. Is there a simple way to do this? The phone is unlocked & rooted, but does not have the ext2 file system on it.
What's the IC? I checked under the battery to confirm mine is a Canada model, and it is.
But my IC is GT-S5660L
Model: GT-S5660M

Same, GTS5660L ... why do you ask?
Sorry if this is a known issue or there are topics about it already, my search hasn't found any answers that have worked
My GPS was pretty wonky when I was on Gingerbread (what came with the phone). Sometimes I'd have to restart the phone then it would work. After the ICS update (FF18 I think?) it actually worked really really well, but a ton of other **** was bugged. So the FH13 rolls out, fixes a ton of the bugs and I'm like cool!!. Welp, same day i'm driving somewhere and need my GPS, doesn't work, at all. Greatttt, so I have to use maps instead. I forget this happened when I get home and so I didn't post about it then. After that my GPS actually worked decently well till today when it totally ditched me in a time of need today. So i'm on the freeway and I leave it searching for GPS signal for about 10 minutes, nothing. Restart, nothing. Shut down all the way, take the battery out (hell if I know why), start back up, nothing! I left my phone searching for the entire car ride, it drained from 100% when I left at 1pm to almost dead after dinner. My GF's ****, also Samsung and on the same network phone picks it up fine! My GPS also has never ever worked in my room but hers does, maybe not related but it's annoying having to put in addresses while driving 100% of the time because I can't do it inside my house.
Any way to fix this? Should I just pray it works till the next OTA update happens? Should I try to like reinstall FF18 manually somehow?
TLDR: Day of updating from FF18 to FH13 my GPS didn't work (would just search and search). Worked after that most of the time (few times where it didn't but I knew where I was going so I didn't have a chance to be 100% sure it was totally dead) till today when it totally crapped out. Any ideas?
I've had gps issues as well, but it fixed for me after flashing a new modem with odin. Now oddly I'm back on my stock modem and it locks all the time.

Also get your MSL and go into dialer. Type ##gpsclrx# enter msl code and reset GPS. This has always worked for me.

I'm running stock rooted 5.0 on the ASUS_Z008D model of the zenphone 2.
This was originally my girlfriends phone, and she used it about 2 months before I started using it. At the end of those months before I took it, the camera completely stopped working. I looked up the few ways to fix it on google but none of the fixes I found worked. I think it's a hardware problem, but I have no idea truthfully. It always says it's running under another app. I have tried disabling and reenabling it, but nope. Nothing.
That isn't as important as the updates caused. I'm stock rooted, but I've had no problems at all updating the OTA updates ASUS sent out. After the latest one a few weeks ago, the phone finally started having problems that annoy me. Often at times, I send or get sent messages from other people, but the phone never receives or sends them. I've tested this using my siblings or freinds' phones right next to me, textng myself, and I never receive them at all. No delays, just never receive them.
Next, the update caused the phone to have a bunch of random reboots, and constant signal deaths. The phone will constantly completely lose signal, and take a few seconds, maybe a minute or two to reconnect. This usually comes with one to three reboots everyday.
Anyone else experience this or am I alone here? I'm thankful for this phone being awesome for budget price, and the fact it's not mine. (I'll be upgrading to the N 5X on release) But I still wanna know if I can fix this phone to save as a backup.

Mate, if there is a problem, unroot the phone and RMA it with the warranty... That warranty is there for a reason...
