[Q] Sim Lock question - HTC Wildfire S

Hi
My WFS is locked to T-Mobile in the UK. I understand that this lock can be removed either with a XTC clip or by a code which can be purchased from T-mobile. So how do the companies who advertise online unlock the SIM using the IMEI number do this?

Same ways as tmobile they purchase it from HTC then pass the cost on to you and charge you a bit more.
If you have the choice get it done by xtc clip, especially if you plan on rooting etc.

[Q] T-Mobile UK unlock code for HTC One X?

Hi people.
Just bought myself a HTC One X locked onto T-Mobile network.
I want to use it on Orange UK.
Anyone know if the SIM unlock codes are available?
Every site I go to advise me that the codes aren't available yet.
Is there another way of being able to use my orange SIM with the HTC One X?
Thanks
There are people selling the codes on Ebay, and there is a Tread (closed though) of people who have successfully used these services: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613613&highlight=unlock+code
Check ebay though as they are some for as cheap as £4.
Nice one gaiden, I'll give it a go.
Thanks for help.
A novice like me needs all that I can get!!
Aaaah, just realised why I'm struggling. Apparently the phone has to be at least one month old for IMEI to be registered on server. That means the waiting game......
Cant you just phone tMobile and ask them for a subsidy pin ?
ermmm tmobile and orange are the same company.... is the card being rejected out right?, i can switch between orange and tmobile with no problems with my tmobile card, and my wife has a locked wildfire s to tmobile that happily runs a orange card.
Yeah tmo and orange are now the same network. You shouldnt need to unlock for this.

That is the exact reason why I bought the phone, thinking Orange & T-Mobile have merged into one.
The thing is they share their network coverage but they are still two seperate companies. This was confirmed by Orange UK. And T-Mobile won't deal with me because I don't have an account with them.
So I need to find someone who does have one, or set one up (which I don't want to do).
All the official HTC Unlock sites don't seem to have code available and give me a refund straight away. I'm going to try a couple from EBay this morning to see if they're any better.

T-Mobile will only unlock a handset that is registered to the account. I.e purchased with the number at the same time, as imei's are linked.

What method did you try ?
the ebay unlocking method worked fine for my t-mobile phone,
Unlock codes!?
Am I missing something,
If you flash an RUU rom surely that will unlock it?
I presume using Ebay Unlocking techniques also risk voiding warrenty?

Flashing a custom ROM does NOT SIM unlock the phone. Unlike unlocking/rooting, SIM unlocking does not void your warranty.
I've used HTC SIM Unlock before and they always been to work. They have a money back guarantee as well. Never trust those unlockers on eBay. I've been scammed too many times. http://www.htcsimunlock.com/#oid=1096_1
Your other option could be to get a PAYG sim card and call them from that. They might unlock it for you as you would have an account with them then?
I never thought of that, ie, getting a PAYG SIM card. Should have done that! Anyways, after many unsuccessful attempts in getting the phone unlocked (the number of refunds I got on my Paypal, I had numerous security checks on my card!), I eventually got hold of the person I bought the phone off. He's kindly got in touch with T-Mobile UK, and for £15-32, they'll unlock it for me. It will take between 10-28 days, so I'm expecting it to come through some time this week at the earliest. I know it may be dear, but I also know they will be able to unlock it, as its their network.
Anyways, thanks for all the help guys!
I just unlocked my one x at unlockcode4u.com and as I made a video they just refunded me, so eventually I didnt pay anything.
My HTC one X is the best phone ever

Seriously!, cant change default provider?

I just wanted to be clear.
I cannot change default provider without buying an unlock code?
I have never had to buy a code before
I have rooted it and "unlocked" it (via htcdev.com) as the word "unlock" has two meanings
You see, I can buy about 10 of these for $85 each (going out of business this weekend) and wanted to be clear what my profits would be to make them network free
I have read this was not possible on other threads but that was before htcdev.com allowed unlocking of bootloader and wondered if that had made a difference
Cheers
Unlocking your bootloader doesn't remove the SIM-LOCK (see FAQ at HTCdev)...........so if your phone is branded, you won't be able to use any other sim unless the Sim-lock is removed.............instead of buying the codes for $85,buy an XTC-Clip it removes all restrictions from your phone
Thanks

Cheers, I just wanted to make sure I hadnt missed anything
BTW the phones were $85 each not the unlock code
It would take about ten phones to make the XTC worth my while considering the AU dollar
Checking it out as I type
Bought Unlock code

I took too long and didnt get those phones, just the one I tried to work out
I succumbed and bought an unlock code although I will say I got it for free as I purchased it through freeunlocks.com
The whole thing seems dodgy but it worked out
I bought 250 business cards for $15 from vista and then they sent me an unlock code after a few hours that worked instantly.
I was wanting to get those business cards from that site anyway that advertises on EBay so they seemed legit
If I went direct they were are "free'' and $9 delivery but I will say I was able to unlock it for free.
Wish I had whatever code generator they are using.
So I now have a totally unlocked wildfire s (the b model here in OZ) for $85 cool and $15 worth of business cards
Wish I had been more ballsy and spent $800. Could made some cash

HTC WildFire S T-mobile

i am using wildfire s lock on T mobile? i tried using different SIMs but nada...
can i unlock the cell phone an use some other rom?
Tmobile uk? If yes, your best option would be to find a little backstreet phone shop with an xtc clip and get them to s-off your device.
Then your phone will take any sim and also be able to flash any rom you want.
Phone around your local phone shops from the yellow pages and see if any of them have the xtc clip
yes T mobile UK...
can i call T-mobile and ask for a sim unlock request. They'll ask for the imei number and you'll have the code within 48 hours for FREE. Thing is i am living in UK but for couple of months i am in my home country so i want to use another sim.... and when i get back home i want to use T mobile again...
If you only wanna use another sim, call tmobile its £10 i think.
If you wanna use another sim and root and flash custom roms, then have a phone around some independant phone shops near you and see if they have the xtc clip. Should also cost about £10

Is there any way to identify the original carrier of note 2?

I bought a second-hand note 2 on ebay, this guy tell me it's rogers phone, but it requires unlock code when i put in my rogers sim card. So i figured that this is not a rogers phone, and i need to unlock it. The problem is that, i can't get contact to the seller, and buy an unlock code on ebay requires information about the original carrier, or it will cost like $40. There is no carrier's boot up logo, nor carrier's custom apps, so is there any way i can identify the carrier? Thanks!
Not sure about finding the network but GalaxSim Unlock on the play store unlocked my phone (originally new and locked to o2 UK, but I was going abroad so needed to unlock it quickly to use a local foreign SIM).
Wasn't free but for a few £ it did the job. Does the box reveal anything about the network? Not that it'll help get your SIM working... I'd be unlocking and then flashing a rom/wiping the caches to make sure it was clean.

Sim unlock for T-Mobile SM-P907T Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition?

Hi all,
Bought this tablet off of craigslist a couple months ago after meeting seller at the T-Mobile store and confirming all was good for him to sell, no money owing, not stolen, etc...
I want to now sim unlock it to other carriers. I see ads all over the place for sim unlocking for a fee. They have to be doing it somehow... Thought I'd call T-Mobile to ask them to sim unlock their device. Was given the run-around for an hour, no satisfaction! I tried the chat and the idiot T-Mobile rep gave same run-around stories.
I've searched high and low for something that can sim unlock this tablet. I've found nothing yet. The T-Mobile sim unlocking app wouldn't install, incompatible. Hell, we can root these tablets all day long and I have other phones I've rooted no problem, but I see nothing yet for a sim unlock. Is this some black art or something?? To give some props here or an example, I bought an AT&T Galaxy S off craigslist. Got to the AT&T web page to request sim unlock. Filled out the form. A day and a half later, sim unlock code sent. Put T-Mobile sim in, it asked for code, entered code, watch now sim unlocked!
So, if anyone can help point me in the right direction for more info, appreciate you!
I´m afraid you´ll have to pay for the unlock. T-Mobile won´t unlock it as you don´t meet requirements (not subscriber, to begin with) , and you won´t get it for free. At&t gave you the code, but that doesn´t mean all carriers would do the same. People that sell codes get them from employees, not from their website. Some options:
- Search for a repair shop that make unlocks, but keep in mind that unlocking a phone without carrier´s consent can be considered illegal, according to DMCA [read this]. Repair shops that have modern tools for that kind of job would take 20 - 40 minutes to unlock it.
- Order code from reliable source. Paying by paypal is not securing transaction in this case, as it´s qualified as 'service', not goods, so they don´t have buyer protection program.
