I'm required to carry my m16 with me at all times. My phone is always in my right pocket and I constantly switch which shoulder my rifle hangs from. Anyway I'm scared my rifle might injure my phone. Anyone have any ideas?
Pocket it with the screen facing inwards, and perhaps go for a rubberised case.
That's probably the best I can think of. Which part of the m16 are you thinking is around the right level to bash against it (it depends on your height etc)? Depending on this you may need more protection for it.
get a case-mate tough or an otterbox and place it with the screen towards yourself
i have a case-mate tough for a few months now and love it! it gives alot of protection, looks awsome and is of very good quality
and only costed me 10pounds!
Just keep your phone in a different pocket
put it in the grenade pocket like a boss

if you use a MOLLE system there's loads of pouches that you can use. Preferably on the opposite side to the M16
Do u usually walk around with a m16 or is it a new habit?

It's standard practice in Israel to carry your weapon at all times. A soldier without a weapon is not a useful soldier, regardless of where he is.
i would recommend the otterbox in combo with the steinheill glass
http://www.exportprive.com/en/samsu...on-en-verre-pour-galaxy-s-ii-i9100-noir-.html
just gives u a bit of extra protection
The S2 comes with gorilla glass so it is really really good against breaking. You should look into a case. The otterbox is one case that is really popular for the added protection but any case should suffice.
In our military forces, we had several pockets in our servicesuits and all had chestpockets. I kept my nokia in one chestpocket and never had to worry if the glass is gonna break, even when crawling with RK-62 (kalashnikov replica used on finnish army) and light bazooka. Eventually my nokia 2100 lost it's display when it fell from my jacket pocket and ended under the front tyre of a truck...

Best to email their customer service and ask
I think this is more the type of case you're wanting (not Samsung GS2, I know).

its Gorilla Glass.......not Guerrilla warfare.
Best place to put ur phone if ur a soldier....in ur underpants next to ur [email protected], cos ull be keeping them safe no matter what!
Then buy an "Im Watch" and control ur phone from there.

simple solution? Don't side sling your weapon. It also affects reaction time
It's dangerous to text while shooting.

Yeah I emailed them and apparently it wont fit.
Saying that though I dont think they had tried it and were just going on the fact that the extended battery was bigger therefore it wouldnt fit. A few of the cases for the stock SGS2 fit with the extended battery so maybe someone here will find out.
Anybody heard of this new car mount yet?
Steelie Mobile Device Holder
They also have an iPad tabletop stand.
Just ordered the car kit cause It looks like a great product. I love this idea!!!
The best thing is that if you send them your case. They'll punch a hole in it so that the magnet can mount straight to the phone and is a little more discrete.
They were originally on Kickstarter and almost doubled their goal.
Just wanted to post/support a (what seems to me like a great product) that is MADE IN THE U.S.A.
What do you guys think?
And no I am not affiliated with them in any way.

That's unfortunate. Did you try to email them to see if they can help you with possibly offering different shipping options?
Saw these guys at a small town fair in Louisville, CO a week ago. Looked like a good product and the guys who own the company were very enthusiastic and helpful. I specifically asked about GPS interference etc. and they said they'd evaluated several phones with no issues.
I also expressed concern about the size/thickness of the engagement point on the phone and they said that they were working on a lower profile version.
Would really like to see these guys do well. Another small business emerging from middle-class America. Gotta love that.
Similar idea to tetrax, but may be easier to find a mounting spot since it looks like it doesn't need the same sq inch spot if you're not using the vent mounted version.
Wow, this is awesome and perfect for my needs! Just went in for one!
I have a window mount currently but it's a pain if I want to rotate it at all because you have to loosen the ball joint and then tighten it back up. And it's almost impossible to do it with the phone in the holder while keeping it at the angle you want.
That, and the suction cup will fall off from time to time. I've also gotten "yelled at" by a cop for having it up as well, so this will "obstruct my view" way less!
This is so much simpler to use, even though it will add a slight bit of bulk.

Thanks for posting about this here, Iv been researching this product everywhere that I can, but its a hard product to find info about, and whats even worse is that the company has not returned my calls or emails in 3 days since contacting them. Either way I found the steelie product on sale here and I already bought it. http://www.123inkcartridges.ca/accessories-product/ST_C.html and now Im hoping it can be used with my galaxy note i717. Now this is a big phone, probably the biggest and heaviest on the market and im worried it will not work. Does anyone know if my phone will work? Also the steelie on this website looks different than all the other steelie pictures iv found, is the one I bought an older or newer version of the steelie? I already contacted 123 ink cartridges and they assured me that its not counterfeit.
Let us know how the thing feels with a big ol', honkin' magnet on the back of it. I'm intrigued, but think having a magnet the size of a 50-cent piece on the back of my GNex would make my having a pretty custom case rather pointless.
The site also says it doesn't interfere with NFC. I'm dubious and would love to hear from some third parties.

Any updates?
I see that they offer the Steelie Magnetic Phone Socket for purchase by itself, but dont see it listed for sale anywhere. Would be nice for different cell phone uses that drive the same car. I guess you could always mount it to a easy to swap out phone case if you have the same phone as other users.
Hey guys I have some good news. I emailed Life proof asking if they have plans for making their case for the S3 and new iPhone and this is the response I received:
Thank you for your email. Our LifeProof design team is hard at work designing cases and accessories that can accommodate the majority of devices and applications out there, including other smartphone platforms such as the Android, HTC, Galaxy and others. You can stay updated on all of our product updates and releases via our Facebook Fan page at http://www.facebook.com/lifeproofcases. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
So hopefully it shouldn't be too long before we see some of these cases hit the market. Or at least get some news.

While I would be all over a case from lifeproof, I wouldn't get your hopes up. That response is the same canned one they have been sending out for months. They keep saying they are working on other phone brands, but have yet to come out with anything. They even posted pretty much the same thing on their Facebook Page like 8 or 9 months ago.
Try SGP products, such as Argos providing full protection. It's a vertical-flip leather casing. It also gives a pure leathery feel.

You know a lot of people say that, and if I were just paddling on a lake or hanging on the bunny slope that would probably offer enough protection. (its what I do when I go to the beach) I really don't think that would even come close to the kind of coverage I would need for my uses though. Class 5 Rapids and zip lock baggies are not exactly the best of friends.
Right now I just leave my phone in my car or stick it in my dry bag and bring a waterproof Panasonic camera, and I am fine with that. It would be nice to have a lifeproof type option though, and I would be willing to pay for it.

If your looking for a waterproof solution and are able to go a few days without your phone or have a back-up check out www.liquipel.com
I originally had my Nexus S treated by Golden Shellback, but they nolonger offer individual sales. but was referred to liquipel as they do a similar treatment.
Ive yet to use liquipel but LOVED the treatment Shellback did on my Nexus.
Basically they nano coated the components of your device so rather then blocking water from getting into your phone, this treatment waterproofs the components and allows the water to flow freely thru your device without causing damage to it.
If you go this route, when you get your phone back just throw it into whatever case you want n your golden.
Why exactly do you need your phone in class 5 Rapids? Texting?

pictures, gps or god forbid something happens and you need to make an emergency phone call ?
Pictures, video, gps, music. No cell reception on the river, have to radio a Ranger station if anything goes wrong. Supposedly US Cellular just got a big grant to greatly expand cell coverage across the less populated parts of Maine, may eventually be able to text from on the water
I have read about liquipel and it sounds pretty good. It is more designed for accidental drops and splashes though it isn't truly waterproof.
A lifeproof case also seems like it would be toddler proof, that would be nice too!

Yeah I'm tempted to try liquipel, but I'm still attempting to persuade Golden Shellback to do it for me since I'm a 3x repeat customer.
Their process is similar to what liquipel does, but rather then putting the device as a whole into the chamber GSB disassembles the devices first to ensure every component is coated thoroughly during the bonding process
Hi all!
Having seen Zagg EXTREME Invisible Shield torture test video filmed at Best Buy on the SGS3 (on YouTube - I am not allowed to post the link here), I was impressed to seek out this product for the GN2. I found it locally but I noticed that it didn't say "Extreme" anywhere on the box. I didn't purchase. I decided to call Zagg and inquire further. What I was told is that if the product does not say EXTREME on the outside cover of the box, it isn't that version of the product. Glad that I didn't have that product installed thinking that they were the same!
Extreme is a separate entity that was not made for every device, unlike the regular Invisible Shield product which is virtually made for many devices. The difference according to the Rep with whom I spoke, is that EXTREME can hold up to what we saw in the torture test, whereas the flagship product is merely a scratch-resistance product.
I contacted the interim head of the company and got the "standard issue" response from the secretary. They don't make that product for the GN2. They don't have a date for release of said product. And they don't know IF they will ever make the product for the GN2. That is not wise.
Here we have a product which covers the phone entirely, allows us to keep the beauty of the phone without an ugly case and makes the phone virtually impervious...and they don't know IF they want to make this product for the hottest phone on the market?
Apparently they don't "get it." Time to bring out the brigade. While I am but one end-user, I represent a great many of us who would love this product rather than an ugly, bulky case to detract from the beauty of this beast. If you feel the same, Please contact Zagg, Inc and ask them to please rush the Invisible Shield EXTREME for the SGN2 to market. There is an email addy for the CEO on Zagg's website also. i dislike zagg too but their dry shields are actually really nice and there is no chance of liquid damage while putting them on.
I prefer ExtremeGuards to Zagg. I have ExtremeGuard on my Echo that's still in perfect condition, even after knocking my pocket knife blade first onto it. The Zagg on my Photon didn't last a month before the back started to peel off.
So of course I got ExtremeGuards for my Note 2 and it's held up remarkably well to the S Pen

Thank you Casperi (and everyone for your responses). I simply cannot see putting my beautiful phone inside an enclosure. Aside from that impressive YouTube (Best Buy) torture test what really sold me on getting film was remembering that I had a similar product on my CLS. My car got "attacked" one rainy night by a runaway grocery cart (funny now, but not funny then since I had designo paint, lol). I cringed on impact. (Ok, so I actually cursed, but it wasn't ladylike, k?) I got out and inspected the damage. It was horrible. It looked like Wolverine had run by in one of his fits and swiped it. Next day, I took my baby into the dealership who said they didn't think the damage had gone through. Drove down to the Car Armor shop, lo and behold they peeled the film off and NOTHING...not even a skid mark was there. I suspect that the Zagg EXTREME product is a lower grade, but similar film. Anyway, it's a moot point since it isn't available now.
Update: I called the Car Armor shop and they are going to install that product on my phone for me! They do it all the time for their clients who are having their cars done. I know how good this stuff is firsthand. I am confidant that it will work well in this application.
I want more than just scratch resistance for my phone. I want to know that if I happen to drop it, the screen won't be shattered. So, this turn of events is probably a godsend. Gyrlz like pretty phones that stay pretty...and tough!
So, can you please share that Car Armor shop address and/or phone #?
Thank you.
WTF.... What am I reading?? Ya let us ALL know about this stuff so I can put this ****t on my whole car... Then I won't even have to have my vehicle insured!! Think of the LONG term here everybody!! :silly:

C'mon now Kush...How long has the s3 been out? The note GN2 is at 5 million in 2 months. And that on the heels of the S3 being a hot seller and those buyers being tied to contracts. Plus, the GN2 had form factor issues to overcome in the buyer's minds. Whereas the S3 is an average size phone. Not to spread it on too thick but, the GN2 has also accomplished the unthinkable. People are actually dumping their iPhones and getting the GN2 or changing their minds about getting the iPhone and getting the GN2 instead. I hear it from people daily. "I was going to get the iPhone but..." It's a hot phone and it lives up to the hype (Well, Tmo users got shafted on Multi-Windows and LTE for a bit but I heard that it's coming.). Guys, I'm going to be launching a wireless charging phone sleeve on Kickstarter in January. The unique selling point will be the Smart app that communicates with the sleeve.
I'm doing research for the launch now to determine which phones to support. If you guys could just share your thoughts that'd be great.
Namely:
Will you as a Nexus 5 user invest in a new phone sleeve?
Why do you/ dont you use existing portable chargers like powerbanks and Qi chargers?
If you know any cool portable wireless chargers?
I myself use a Nexus 4 with Qi built in but I haven't found a satisfactory wireless charging solution yet... that's kinda why I worked on my own. Thanks! I'm also asking the Samsung s5 guys for their feedback.
I would definitely use it because it seems like a very cool way of charge your phone while you are on the go!
Because a sleeve is better than a poweramp which is big an bulky
Please just do a Nexus 5 Version

Yeah like I said I would buy one because the battery on our phone isn't the best as we all know.
Great idea !
I will buy one if it isn't too expensive.
Do you know about an approximately price yet?
I don't get why you need to make that thing a sleeve. I wouldn't buy it because basically it'd make my phone unusable while I charged it. Make it have a transparent front, or a removable front, and maybe it's worth it.
I frankly don't see the point in it, and frankly having an app that "optimizes my charging experience" is something I dont see as something I need or want, I want my phone to charge and installing an app so I get better charging (in some way I don't understand or even see how it's possible) is something I want to avoid, not look upon as a unique selling proposition.
You are competing with $5 power banks here, at least in my mind, and I really don't see something here that makes me want to spend the money I can see this costing just so I can charge my phone wirelessly while it's in my bag.
I'm not being negative here, I'm being honest and since you're probably going to be investing some of your money here, I hope you don't take this the wrong way. Make it modular, with different sleeves you can buy for your phone, make it possible to use it as a power bank for non-qi devices and you have something interesting *for me*.
Good luck at any rate.
I see the need and want for it... but i dont like how its a sleeve... say i use this at night... and use my phone for my alarm. well how do i silence the alarm without taking it out of the charger... isnt going to happen...
I like to idea of modular, were you can maybe has detachable sleeves... maybe a large one that covers the screen for people who want it in their bags, or maybe half a sleeve for people who use it at night, and still have to have access to the mute/disregard of the alarm apps.
Know what I mean?
Yeah I see what you mean. That's a great idea!
However, that's not necessary now because the sleeve is thin enough that you can place your phone over it and it will still charge, ie. The sleeve becomes a charging mat.
But at the end of the day, its still a sleeve so you need to slip it out before using the phone if its inside. Good idea though! Maybe I can offer it as a stretch goal
I'm already using a powerbank. But as others stated, it's not very comfortable when you're using the phone.
I think a case would be much more useful than a powerbank or a sleeve. And you could add an attachable cover to sweeten the deal. That way everyone could get what they want from our lovely phones. And I would definitely buy and support something like that.

Currently have a Galaxy S4 with a ZeroLemon extended battery but I'm on the verge of switching to a Nexus 5. The only thing I'd miss from my S4 is the huge battery life with the ZeroLemon so I was looking at battery cases. However, I love the idea of a wireless charging pouch/sleeve. It would allow the Nexus 5 to remain naked when using it but keeps it charging while in the pocket. I was thinking of doing this using a standard external battery but that'll require plugging it in which is a real pain.
I've added my email address on the notify for more info. Definitely interested.
Just out of interest, will the pouch be specific for a particular phone or will it be generic for a variety of phones (assuming roughly the same size). Also, is the pouch designed to only accept the phone naked? What if the phone has a slim TPU case or bumper?
A few questions:
1.How is this better than battery cases which are on the market right now?
2.What will happen if i accidentally put the phone wrong side up into the case?
3.Durability of the pouch?

1. Generic for a variety of phones!
2. Insisting on stretchable materials, so the phone is easy to slip in and out- PLUS it tolerates slim cases! And even the s5 wireless charging back. Not sure what maximum thickness case works though- this calls for a stress test video.

1. It's better looking, and it doesn't make your phone thicker or heavier or imbalanced. Why should you have to choose between a slim, beautiful phone and a bulky one with battery life that lasts the day?
2. Both sides and wrong side up it will still charge!
3. Durability as in... the material? Battery capacity? Battery longevity? I'm committed to making ampere the best it can be plus I'm a tactile person, so the sleeve's fabric is high quality stuff- I really like the feel of the denim, very tough.

Environmental resistance, water, dirt, sweat, puncture resistant from keys or anything like that?
You know what- I hadn't thought about any official certifications! Again, I chose denim which is great looking and durable, so I guess you can extrapolate from your quality jeans. Given the hardware though- I wouldn't say its resistant to water or sweat, but we built it with durability in mind so it wouldn't bend, the insides' aluminium instead of plastic, etc.

Well, I think it's a great concept and if priced right, I would certainly support it.

Wouldn't aluminum basically kill the radio signals? Thus using more battery and potentially calls/texts ect if it can't get a signal? This is what happened when I tried using a case with metal.
Seems like a decent idea, need a tester let me know I have 2 nexus 5s I can test with running both lollipop and kitkat. If you are looking for a beta tester just let me know figured it'd be worth a try whats the charge rate of the wireless charger? Would need something above 1000mah pulling wise. My current pocket charger does 800 and my home charger does 1400 so would like something in the middle but anything higher would be awesome it looks like a decent product.
