Hello guys,
I need some advice.
Recently I have flashed [ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 6.3.1 to my DHD.
Everything is more or less ok, BUT time zone detection became inaccurate.
F.E.
Currently I live in Lithuania and it is GMT +02:00, but phone automatically puts me to GMT +3 (Eastern Europe like Minsk ). Even I set things manually (untick "use network provided values) or with ClockSync, I have correct time next to battery indicator and +1 hour in Clock weather WIDGET
The interesting part is whatever change I do, on world clock section shows Kaunas (my city) +3 GMT does not matter what I do
I have not experienced this kinda problem neither with stock nor MIUI nor nitr0 sense ROMs.
At the moment I set my clock widges to show Talinn's time to show correct time on the main screen
Any help would be appreciated as I would like to keep clock changing its time automatically as I travel abroad.
p.s. could be it a problem with internal timezone database on the HTC Desire
just set it manualy?
Yes, the time zone is set manually. to +2 GMT but my clock widget still uses +3 GMT
Anyone has any ideas?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Is it related to DST (Daylight Saving Time) so that it is shifted an hour?
I live 5 miles from another time zone. The front of my house catches a tower in one zone, the cornfield behind catches the other. Set it manually. Problem solved.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA App
That could be DST but does matter what I change it still shows Kaunas +3 GMT. (Estern Europe)
I think that phone does not have specific GMT for Vilnius, Lithuania (it could be in any other settings but not when changing main phones time). It might be missed it this Revolution HD ROM.
I just making presumptions as I have no other clue.
Reinstalled the rom and everything is fine

is anyone having any issues with weather not showing on phone, been like this for nearly 3 hrs now, Orange network.
No problems here, im on O2
I had problems all yesterday where my 'current location' would not show the weather, just the name of where I was... places I had loaded by name, i.e. london were showing fine.
Me too! Remove the widget and then re-add it. Worked for me!

why do you need an app to tell you the weather?
look out the window

I fixed the problem I had by turning off GPS and back on again...

sure
sorry for my obnoxiousness.. i just find the HTC weather app rubbish, all I ask from a weather app is a forcast for the next 24 hours.. the Google Genie widget has a good go, but really that's annoying too, with its % chance of rain thing
The day the met office release an app with decent satalite images and pressures, finally weather forcasting in the UK on Android will make some sense.
ps I can tell the temperature with my nose.. if its either hot, warm, cool, cold or bloody freezing
I am using a stock Desire with 2.2 on it and I occassionally have this problem as well. It is sometimes pretty annoying. I find having to delete it and reinstall it a pain in the backside.
I would also be interested if anyone found a more permanent solution. I agree the weather programs are not super accurate, but I live in a country where the weather changes quite often and it is nice to see how I have to dress to go to work everyday.
Anyone tried it yet?
Saw there's lots of APK's out there already to install it - tried it on unrooted, latest unbranded firmware and working ok - looks different, but seems to be fairly similar...
http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...roid+market+2.2.6&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=
I think most of the update though is for behind-the-scenes stuff - like the refund timer of 15 mins rather than 24 hr, apk size limit increased etc.
Out of interest, does anyone know how this would get rolled out normally? Does the market update itself? as you can't search for it in the market...
AFAIK, it only works on Froyo for now.
Yep....only for devices running 2.2......if only i did'nt have CyanogenMod i would have installed it.......hmmmm seems it has only a 15 minute refund window

CyanogenMod is 2.2 (well 2.2.1, but I thought it would work on that too?).
Yes I tried. It works on my desire very well. Smoothly. Give us some beautiful weight.

I read the google blog thing that it was designed and will be rolled out for all devices 1.6+
Not too sure about the big green banner along the top- looks like a bit of a waste of space to me... also I thought there were new categories for widgets and live wallpapers?
Got it on my Desire and it works great for me. I think its a great improvement. Running a stock WWE ROM here. There's more info and download links here http://www.eurodroid.com/2010/12/new-android-market-includes-support-for-tablet-displays/

I too couldn't wait for the official roll-out. Downloaded t'd apk, works a treat. I prefer to the old market

Would be nice if you could switch between the old and the new market

Is the change on the update window based on your market version?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Banner is great IMHO for the starting page but not on each app page. Wasted large banner space at the top and in large areas, fonts and padding dedicated for your review/similar sections (poor screen estate efficiency). They should shrink that all down, especially the font. Smoother UI and better in some respects but I preferred tabs much more (for sections I rarely use) as well as the fact that I can't manually stop/restart installs on this version anymore, like I was forced to do with previous versions due to recurring buggy market installs that get stuck.

Hi Guys,
I may not be the only one in this situation so maybe someone found an answer to this.
I've recently upgraded to an HTC One X (Super amazing phone) from an Android converted HD2(brilliant phone).
The only problem I've noticed is that the Facebook widget does not update on my new One X as when i turn on my HD2 works perfectly and updates as it should. I can still see updates from days ago but when i go into the actual app i can clearly see status updates etc.
Anyone having the same problem? Is there any way to resolve it?
I apologize if this issue has been raised somewhere else on the forum.
Thanks
Am I the only one with this problem???

apparently so..is facebook the only widget that does not updates itself?
Looks that way...
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Mine's not working either on my Sensation - worked for a day or so and now just shows the same update - app itself works fine
Dunno about Facebook, but the Twitter widget only updates when told to. Also, I'm trying to find out why Facebook and FB Messenger don't send me notifications.
I have the same problem with mine, but when using any non-HTC widget. For example, I use a couple Beautiful Widgets (the clock and the battery status) and both of them just get stuck after a while. A reset resolves it for a while, sometimes a day or more and sometimes only for a few hours but eventually the clock and the battery indicator just get stuck. I have tried other clocks and battery indicator widgets and they too get stuck, so does the stock google calendar widget. It seems like it might be a problem with sense.
I tried to use my friendstream widget to update my FB and Twitter profiles twice yesterday, it just didn't do anything at all... I had to go into each App and update from there, then later in the afternoon it worked fine...
Buggy I guess?
I'm not sure if this helps the facebook widget, but I have tried clearing the data and re-setting the widget up. Seems to keep things going for a good while.
Same problem. No issues on Nexus and had similar problem on Sensation so pretty sure it has something to do with Sense
mine is not working either. facebook, friends widget, etc. slow and must be done manually
I think it's something to do with processes in the background, whilst Twitter seems to actively update for me, Facebook doesn't. I always close Facebook because it eats battery like a fat kid in a donut shop. Facebook for HTC Sense doesn't exist anymore, what updates in the Facebook app's news feed is what you see in Friend Stream and they update at the same frequency.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I'm the same on my HOX . My Fb widget hasn't updated for a week. The app itself is fine. This behaviour is no different from when i had my Desire! I've tried many widgets but it's the functionality of the official widget I want.
Solved for me
Was having this problem with any non-HTC widget, including a battery widget, the google calendar widget, the beautiful clock/weather widget among them. What seems to work is unchcking the "Fast boot" option in the power settings. I did this yesterday and my widgets haven't stopped now for almost 24 hours.
That's the first thing I turn off and yet the Facebook widget will not update unless I reboot the phone
Has anyone found a solution to this? Can it be that Sense is acting up as usual and because of sense our widgets are not updating as they should?

I work, with the elderly and disabled as a mobile care support worker, so I travel around alot, I have the nav proggy on my one x, but all it says is ,"In 100 yards" repeatedly and this is frustrating, also the instructions are not given as fluidly for the oncoming turns, the map rotates all the time and this is difficult to follow, with out a working voice.
Does any one know where I can get a really good app for navigation, whether it be a hooky app or not, my job is dependent on being on time for clients and as I have only started the job, I would not want to mess things up.
Please help.

I tried sygic the other day and found the routing to be bad. I drove past a junction on purpose due to traffic and sygic couldn't work out that coming off at the next junction and going a different way was quicker. It insisted I needed to turn around and go back.
I find copilot to be better

ATM the only one reliable enough is Navigon.
THis is a problem with the hardware. Not the software. You need to get HTC to repair your phone
FUll topic about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594281
There is no antennae fault, or wifi fault, or even gps fault, with this one. Phone is sound, I had it checked. As I had already read about all those faults before this issue. I actually had it sent to HTC via my network provider and got the diag report back and it was clear, no faults. But they did see that I had it unlocked via HTCDev,
Try Navigon

Make sure WiFi is switched off mate. I had dodgy navigation on google nav and then saw a post discussing this.
Now GPS is spot on. I use maps/navigation every day and its better than my tom tom now.

Copilot is the way to go. Better, smoother interface, and great map data.
Just Reinstalled maps, Google one, seems to be working now to, also discovered that if you go on Google maps and fine the place you want, then save the place as a link, then email it to your phone, then open it in maps, you can navigate to it using the maps navigation...yummy yummy , now that's the way to go.
So I think, if this works tomorrow, I will say farewell to Navigon, Copilot, syg and others, if this works.....please hope to Hell it does, or my client may end up being in distress.

This.
It also does the best at maintaining a constant position if the GPS chip flakes out intermittently. All the real navigation s/w products have algorithms in them that approximate position and intended course in the event of signal loss. I've found CoPilot's to be the strongest.
"Hookie" software as you call it is not allowed on xda, either buy it or don't discuss it on here

It depends where you live I guess because teleatlas is supposed to be much more up to date in at least the Netherlands. I didn't compare with teleatlas maps but navteq thought I was riding off road on what seemed to be not just opened roads in many parts of northern italy this summer; anyway teleatlas = tomtom so that shouldn't be bad
"Copilot GPS" from market is free. Only thing is it doesnt have voice guided navigation. You have to pay $15 for it. Other than the voice guidance its pretty good free nav software.
Sygic is also good, and comes with free 7 day trial. See which one you like better.
Havent tried Navigon, but these 3 software are the best offline gps for Android right now.

Let's keep the OP short. As it is, there is no way for users from different ROMS to discuss their problems, experiences or questions regarding the Sense 5 update. I believe this is all due to previous threads being closed due to illiterate users asking about their CIDs and why they haven't received the update. Look, we don't know and to be honest, unless you can't wait or be patient or bother to read OPs properly (I'm talking about the CID confirmation thread), we couldn't care less about your problem. Since this is my thread, I will have 0 tolerance towards such acts and rest assured this thread will be closed if even one of these rules are broken :
Do's
Share your experience with the ROM
Compare battery life or day to day usage
Ask questions regarding bugs or etc
Share mods, tweaks and patches to help enhance Sense 5 for everyone
Discuss opinions based on the ROM compared to previous updates
Don't's
Ask when you'll receive the update
Ask why you haven't received the update
Condemn HTC for taking too long
Bring up issues regarding HTC's update schedule
Confirm if you've received or haven't received the update on your CID or carrier
Ask about the future of the One X (Sense Billion or Android 9.0.5)
Asking how to install Sense 5
Asking how to update hboot
If you can abide by these rules, please feel free to join this thread. If you think you're prone to breaking any rules, don't post at all.
Enjoy your stay and lets keep this as civil as how the guys at the N7 forums managed to do with their 4.3 discussions thread.

I definitely have experienced the brief lag in the quick settings panel, and also swipping homescreens. I find having a dark wallpaper reduces the lag.

My experience so far:
- after first recharge: I reached 10% battery after 1 day and 23 h (almost 2 days!). 2 h of screen on, WiFi all time, gsm only, no 3g. Browsing, whatsapp, fb, no music or games. Excellent night-time standby. I keep BlinkFeed deactivated same for google now (for me google now was a nightmare in terms of standby consumption).
Overall i'm satisfied how sense 5 and 4.2.2. are working and moving, no errors or glitches.
Not so happy with the modern/minimalist look of Sense 5. But probably...due to change. It's not bad..but..something rather new. But I REALLY HATE the way they changed weather widget.
WiFi working fine, not so good like it was in ICS, but not bad, either.
Ps: I have a 2100 mAh battery, so stats could be worse for standard 1800 nAh battery.

Task manager is definitely away or it is "hidden" like on htc one?
Does anyone have ResetNotify asking for root access every day after the update? A lot of people complain about it in One forum too.
There is lag while swiping through homescreen. Sense 4+ was much more smoother with 3D scrolling. Dont know why this minimal sense 5 lags
I have two observations:
The battery drain is high when the screen is on. My HOX is quite warm during usage.
I could not connect to my wifi router while the SSID was hidden. I had to configure it visible.

I think that this update is very buggy,
first of all when I restart my phone some applications are always missing on my homescreens and I have to add them manualy again and the next time I restart my phone it's the same thing again. Another issue is when I am talking on the phone and I hold it away from my face the display is working which is OK but when I rotate it to a landscape position the screen turns it self off like the proximity sensor is detecting something and there really is not anything near it. The lock screen is very laggy and it skips frames all the time(like I'm using some phone from $19) where as when I was using Sense 4+ with the weather animation I never experienced any kind of lag on the lock screen. Anyway there are some other bugs too but for me these are the biggest problem which require an update from HTC and maybe with the first bug they never should have released this update. Thanks
I am completely stock and haven't noticed any lags at all. Zero. Battery life increased a lot, especially stand by times. Whoever notice anything wrong with this update should try to do factory reset.

Just putting my 2 pence in.
Sense 5 is the first ROM that took me away from CM10 - Sense 4.X was dreadful. Slow, bloated, and those bottom tabs were SO bad - worst design choice ever.
Sense 5, though is fast, pretty and just. Nice. Feels like a new phone.
Do we get with sense 5 also skins to choose from? I always liked the steel one from 4+.
