When flashing ROM's, I'm seeing some buggy versions of CWM being flashed with the kernel during the zip flashing. Can somebody suggest the most stable, usable CWM zip I can flash? 5.0.2.7 is preferred.

I flashed the rom, radio and wimax. I also pulled down a kernel. At what point do you flash the kernel? Or do I have to? A how to would be great.
Thanks!!!
A Kernel is included with the ROM, so you don't "need" to flash it. However if you want to flash a custom Kernel, you just flash the .zip file from recovery and reboot.
After you root and install ROM manager, how do you flash the ROMS. i mean i know the steps but i must be doing something wrong. Here is what I'm doing.
i have a mesmerize by the way.
1. Open Rom Manager
2. Install ROM from SD Card
Do i need to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery first?
Any help would be very greatly appreciated ...i might even name my first born after you.
and if you can tell be where i can get custom battery, and Wifi ROMS for the mesmerize i may even name my second after you also.
Yes, you will need a custom recovery to flash a custom ROM. CWM or Amon_Ra flashed through Rom Manager will do the trick. Once you have the recovery sorted you can/should do a backup of your current setup. Again, this can be done from Rom Manager.
Now you can move on to flashing a custom ROM.
I'm having a problem getting the Roms installed, cwm says something about edifying. i have cwm 3.0.0.8. i went back and downgraded my ROM manager to 2.5.0.7 but my cwm is still 3.0.0.8.

There is a section in Rom Manager with older versions of CWM. It's that you want, not an older version of RM.
it would probably be easier to boot into recovery and install your custom rom from there. The method to get into recovery is different for each phone though.
Remember to wipe before installing a custom rom tho.

I've looked for the older versions of CWM in RM but cant seem to find them. What are they under? Sorry if I'm being a bother.
Just flashed EG30 via Odin and Then I changed the EKO2...ZIp folder to "update.zip" and flashed. Now my base band and Build are now EKo2. My question now is how to install CWM, withour losing EK02. I would like to install Viper or Calkulin Rom's. Is it necessary to install these ROMS with CWM. Can I do it via Fastboot instead? Just change the Epic Venum ROM to "update.zip"?
Thanks
You can root and install CWM using this thread
[ROOT][NCIQ][EG30/EG31/EK02] Auto root your existing stock ROM (w/o ODIN/ROM Flash)
After installing CWM you should make a nandroid backup. The flash whatever ROM you want.
I would suggest you just run stock rooted for a day so you get a feel how stock EK02 performs before installing custom ROMs.
Im trying to flash calks e4gt 2 v1.1 but every zip i open gives me a signature verifcation error. I am currently on stock rooted fc05.
The re-enabled signature verification in FC05 so you can no longer use stock recovery to install ROMs.
People have been advising to flash back to a GB ROM, install GB-based CWM, then install the ROM from there. There is a big note at the top of steady's CWM thread to not use ICS-based Rogue CWM to flash ROMs, which explains why people are suggesting going back to GB-based CWM to flash ROMs. I believe technically it is only important you install GB-based CWM - ie the GB kernel, not the ROM, but folks probably suggest the ROM also because they don't like it when the GB kernel won't boot an ICS ROM.
Not saying you will definitely have issues with an ICS-based CWM flashing ROMs, but this is the method folks are suggesting to flash ROMs.
So what is the best way to go back to gb can i use stock recovery or do i need to do it on a pc. Thank you for the help btw.
The quickest way is to use Mobile ODIN or Auto Root to install a GB-based kernel+CWM like EL29+CWM-Rogue. This will put you in a situation where you phone won't boot into ICS, but you can boot into recovery.
If you are not comfortable with the not-booting situation, flash the pre-rooted EL29 ODIN OneClick, either from a PC or through Mobile ODIN:

Then use Auto Root (or Mobile ODIN) to install EL29+CWM-Rogue:

Thanks for the suggestions, everything worked.

I started out with (I believe) this rom- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323763 and all was good for months.
When the ICS rom leaked, I figured I'd try it, so I performed a backup in recovery mode and then flashed.
Now, Calkulin has an ICS rom and I wanted to play with that, however the leaked rom didn't have clockwork installed.
I grabbed Rom Manager, flashed CMR, and rebooted into recovery.
I had all the zips on my sdcard and went to flash the Calkulin wiper and the little droid started glowing and then fell over with a !. The log said that the signature couldn't be verified. I tried all 4 of his zips and none of them would flash.
So, I figured I'd just restore my old ROM backup... except that there is no backup/restore in recovery now. There is a restore section in the app, but it doesn't see any of my old backups.
My question is, is there a different recovery manager? Why can't I flash or restore?
you need to flash a custom ics kernel, like rouge, most ics roms should have this baked in already, however if not, you can flash it through odin via download mode, just put the rouge ics tar file in pda slot
Ok, so the leaked rom came with a stock kernel and that's bad...
Now I need to find the Odin flasher and rouge image.
Thanks
Mobile odin el26 with cwm. Rogue repacks are not safe to flash ROMs with. They can flash, but risk a brick. Use el26 and hold power+volume up to reboot into recovery. Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvick, flash rom and gapps. Reboot and you will be good to go.

I just grabbed an ICS kernel off the wiki and it worked just fine.
No CWM with ICS roms.
afaik, none of the ICS roms have CWM bundled yet because CWM is unstable. Did you get CWM straight from ROM Manager, and it worked?
Actually, there is no bundled CWM because we don't have kernel source. EL26 was the last kernel with official CWM. DO NOT USE ROM Manager unless you want a brick.
