[Q] custom ringtone issues - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I have a sprint epic 4g touch. I'm having issues with my contacts. There are a few contacts that I give a special ringtone too. Then later on it seems to change back to either the default ring or it assigns a diff time. Anyone else having this issue?

That post is supposed to say " or it assigns a diff tone".. not "time".. Sorry

[Q] texting problem help plz

so the problem is the gf epic 4g phone time is 11:58am and i send her a text at 12:00 and when she texts me back its sends at 11:58 for her but instead of the text moving down to a new row, the text moves UP above my text at 12:00.
i both live in the same city but how come the time is different and why does her text move up instead of down?
is there a way she can fix this ? but disabling something?
please help and thanks.
What cell provider are you with?
It sounds like your provider and Sprint don't agree on the time. Since the stock sms progam appears to sort by the time the message was sent, I doubt there's a good way to fix this. Either of you could try manually changing your time, but it will change back next time you switch cell towers. She could try handcent or chompsms and see if either of those sort differently.
the strange part is, when i bought her the phone last month, it was never a problem till this morning.. but i am with t-mobile. i recently asked her to download handcent and lets see if that works out.
thanks

Strange notification symbol - related to texts disabled

hi guys,
Something strange happened to my Desire on Sunday and it has caused a few issues for me since.
The attahced pic shows a symbol in the notification bar that looks like a fence.
(I cannot attach the screen shot as i have not made enough posts but PM me if u wish to see the symbol and i can show u it)
Since this symbol has appeared all my texts have dissapeared and i am unable to send or receive texts.
Also when i go into my dialler my call history has cleared and when i try to using the quick input method of finding a contact (eg 3-2-3 for DAD) no contacts come up.
The phone does work to make calls but it can only be done by going into contacts and sleecting the number from there.
Anyone ever come across this before and know how to resolve it?
BTW i am using MIUI rom
TIA
Ok symbols will probably be different in a standard ROM but here is a list of what they are and what they mean http://htcdesireportal.com/htc-desire-android-notification-and-phone-icons/
SOunds like you are refering to the notification for SIM2 features. Possible sim fault. Call your telco and ask them to check you Bearer services for incoming and outgoing text and also to check your diameter router settings.
Sounds like Visitor Mode. Press Power Button and Disable.
Basically Semi locks down the phone if people want a look but you don't want them Using it for Calls/Texts/Other stuff.

Caller ID on Text Message

I have my lock screen set to Productivity, which is where you get banners for Calls, Text eMail ect.
So when I get a Phone call from my Wife, for example on the lock screen banner it shows her Name.
But if I get a Text message from her it only shows her number.
The splash screen for the Productivity shows that you would get the persons name, like for the phone call if they were in your address book.
Anyone getting the caller id to work on text messages??
I just noticed this too
Very strange. I thought it was due to a custom ROM but maybe not.
To the OP, are you running stock ROM?
Has anyone else seen this issue? Any fix?
Cheers,
Scott

Just Tried To Recreate This Fault.. Im Using a Custom Rom So May Be Different But I Cant Get It To Happen At All...
Ive Tried It With Numerous Different Contacts And Theyre All Coming Up With Names...
Your Wifes Number Is It Saved To The Phone, Sim Or Google Contacts? Maybe Thats Making A Difference!
Thanks
is it as simple as the text coming through from +44 (or similar local international code) and the number being saved in it's national version?
I put money on it being due to you having more than one number listed under your wifes contact card.

[Q] Long texts fail to send & can't recieve emoji

The title pretty much says it all. Long texts (maybe 140-160) appear to send (after a long delay) but the recipient never gets them. This happens on CM9 and Paranoid. I haven't tried to flash stock ICS yet, but the issue is really frustrating. My friend only recently got a phone with unlimited texting, so I don't know if this has been going on before now. I don't know what could be the issue. Any ideas?
Also, no one can send me emoji - they just show up as two diamonds with ? marks in them. I tried all the popular SMS replacements, and installed the corresponding extra support packs for emoji. I did a wipe and installed JB (instead of ICS) and it still doesn't work. Another Sprint phone (original Evo running CM7) was able to receive them just fine. Is it possible something about Google Voice is interfering on the network end?
Thanks.
Maybe the google voice. I use cm9 and use chomp sms with the emoji packs. In setting I change it to cdma instead of the default tmobile setting. Also I tell it to receive the mms. Then tell my regular sms app to not notify me and do not get my mms.

Default contact number not preferred

Hi all. I've noticed that ever since the marshmallow update, default numbers for contacts are not showing first in the G4's default dialer. It's causing me to ring the wrong number too many times.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to reset to the dialer's previous behaviour or can anyone recommend a good alternative? Thanks.
No one else then?
