[Q] Sony mdr ex38 headphones - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, just bought the above, mainly for my iPod touch. But would love to use them on my xplay as well.
However when I insert them it just says accessory not supported and doesn't even play the sound through them. Any way to even just get them working as headphones without the buttons?
Thanks

you could try buying a headphone adapter it could possibly work but to be honest without re wiring them no they wont work.

[Q] Using Apple In Ear Headphones - Android

Hey Guys,
wasn't sure to put this in accessories or here.
So I know that the Apple jack layout is proprietary to their headphones.
Just got my new Xperia Play, and , as expected they only work if you press down the mic button.
Is there anyway (via app ect)to map the software to output to the apple Jack layout?

for a quick fix just tape the Mic button down or use the ones that came with xperia play there pretty good in my opinion

[Solved] Why does my Arc not output sound on 3.5mm devices?

I've tested with the following devices:
Sennheiser HD 218 Headphones
Razr Carcharias Headphones
Speedlink PC Speakers
It just outputs sound from the phone. Why is this?
Maybe your 3.5mm plug is broken. If you still have warranty go to you're service centre and have it checked/fixed

I think there is no reason for those headsets to not function.
Are there any headphones you have tried, and was working?
you didn't accidentally set media volume to mute?
Have you already tested it with SE's original headphones too?
Did you root your device and removed some applications?
Maybe plug and play monitoring service removed...
Sorry for the late reply guys, I went on holiday after this thread and sort of forgot about it. Turns out the case I have on my Arc wasn't letting the 3.5mm jack go in the whole way, even though it looked like it did.

Headphones on Xperia Play

The headphones I used with my previous cellphone (it was a Defy) doesn't seem to work with Play. I did some search around and all I can find is Sony staff saying that some accessories might be incompatible. Is there any way to make those headphones work?
EDIT: Didn't think headphone would be an issue before I bought Xperia Play, and I had this headphone tested on other cellphones, worked normal.
Even I had the same problem when I was trying my friend's Defy head phones..

Did you try using the adapter that came with the phone?
I just plugged that 3.5mm headphone Jack in my phone ..what connector are you talking about?

Sony Ericsson includes a 3rd party headphone adapter with the phone. If you got the phone off eBay or somewhere, you probably never realized it came with an adapter. At least, the Verizon phone came with the adapter.
I bought mine from a store (it was in the original box) but there is no adapter in the box... I have the GSM version. I want an adapter too :/

I got my phone off MercadoLivre (eBay for BR) and it did not come with an adapter. If I plug it half in it works but it does not hold itself there, and if I plug it all the way in I get the "accessory not compatible" or the sound gets really weird. If someone knows where I can get that adapter you would save me a lot of trouble.
EDIT: With my R800i all that came was a headphone that seems to be pretty similar to the ones I use, the only difference is that the one that came with the cellphone seems to be a little taller and the three rings from my phone does not match in height from the ones that came with the cellphone.
EDIT2: Somehow I got it fixed. My headphones have a little button (don't know its function). Looked on another post on how to make it work with Dre headphones and apparently if you keep that button pressed it works. Tried on mine and it worked too. Now I have got to find a way to make it get stuck inside. Thanks for the replies.

Can't use my Beat Solos HD on my Xperia Play

Every time I connect the headphones It says "accessory not supported". Is there a way to fix this??

Either try taping the headset buttons down ie: play fastforward rewind. See if it still comes up, if it does plug in the headset halfway, until you hear your music. I had the same issue with a pair of skull candy 50/50 headphones they only work doing ^ that.

You'll need an adapter to use 3rd party headphones on Sony Ericsson phones. Take a look at this post right here to explain it a little better.
Dre Beats and Ludacris Soul's don't work on this phone. I've tried 3 types of Beats and a pair of Souls. Even tried the adapter that came with this phone. Still nothing.

My Solo's (non-HD, I prefer the matte finish) came with a second cable without a remote, that works just fine.

[Q] Xperia Arc compatible headsets?

Hi friends,
I have been using Xperia Arc since July 2011.............the MH650 headset that came with the phone is really good.........but now i notice that the volume in the right part is very low and i do not get good stereo quality now.............so can you suggest any good 2012 Sony in ear headset that can deliver good bass and treble..............i was interested in Live hi fi headset but it seems it is compatible only with xperia arc and nothing else due to the audio connecter model used...............thanks..............
I can say live sound is superb and it's unfortunate that it only works with 2011 xperias, but I use another pair of earphones, which i got for 10 dollars from ebay, for everything else. If you want one pair of headset that works with everything (not just 2011 xperia), you have to buy an adapter from ebay or something
thanks you friend........don't know this happens always with headsets..........the volume drops in one side..........i also use the same headset for my VAIO LAPTOP...........will this be the reason?............due to some voltage varaitions.............am not sure,,,,,,,

I use MH650 headset daily aswell.
I have no problems with it on my Arc S, however using it on my laptop, then I need to insert it not fully, but a bit out, in order to have proper quality.
Try your headset on different devices with different placement. Then you should find your answer.
yes friend..i also insert it onla bit when using my laptop...........have been using for few months......no issues at all........but few days ago i noticed the sound level is low on the right side..........it is like that now also..........so am wondering whether to get a new headset............

will the MH750 work with Xperia Arc? I do not want to go for Live hi-fi as i cannot use it for other phones. so do not want to spend lot of money on it. now 2 options are mh650 or mh750.
