anyone got the HTC Flashlight .apk? Upgraded my wife's base to 2.3.5 from 2.3.3, she uses the Flashlight a lot but it is no longer available in HTC Hub.
I've done a Hub sync but that didn't have it show-up in the app and plug-ins list.
I realise there are alternatives, but all leave a sense of disappointment compared to the HTC Flashlight.
No flashlight in stock RUU.
Maybe someone can try the one from cm7, or download one from market, tons of them!!
I got mine from HTC hub, if not check the market

It's a sense widget. Might not.
Try this as a replacement. It has a sense theme for it's widget as well and it's WAY smaller than the HTC Sense flashlight widget with way more options...
Tesla LED Flashlight
Search for it and install it from your phone. It says it's incompatible but it isn't It works great.
Torch is G To the Hetto compared with it as is the HTC flashlight imo.
EDIT:
Just emailed the developer to get the download restriction removed.
It not only works for sense roms, it also works fine in cm7 with no issues, tested by me a long time ago and just re-tested with no problem.
Do not move to SD as it has a widget.

Using cm7
It's a free app so I don't think I am breaking any rules here. If I am let me know powers that be.
Tesla LED Flashlight 3.0.2 For Wildfire S Sense, CM7x, etc.
Took it right off my phone. Tested and works on 2.3.3 Sense, 2.3.5 Sense, and CM7.2
Hopefully the author will remove the restriction.

well if you have seen many vidoes how to do it then wheres the problem ?
the problem is i follow what they do and it doesn't work i think the problem is that it doesn't actually have home installed on it i've looked thru all of the applications and its not there is there anyway to install it?
Why would you get a desire and NOT a nexus one if you don't like sense?
Find Launcher.apk, Launcher2.apk or one of the launcher replacements in the market (ahome, openhome, home++) and install them to replace the sense homescreen.

You could try installing Launcher2.apk from Nexus One. Some people report it working fine on their phones. It didn't work for me though. Maybe I had the wrong APK.

Complete Android noob here please explain
In overly simplified terms, Sense UI is HTC's home screen, where as Launcher2 is Google's home screen for N1.
All programs on Android come in APK files. That's like a CAB installer on WinMo.
So all you need to do is search Nexus One forum for Launcher2.apk, download it on your phone and install it. Then when you press home button, it will ask you which home to launch. Choose Android home (or something similar) instead of Sense UI, but DON'T make it default just yet as it might not work.
If it does, next time you can make it default an voila - you have yourself a "Nexus One".
Though Sense UI will still be running, so you don't really save any memory or anything.
I have posted in this forum how to turn of Sense on the Desire. Search 'How to turn of HTC Sense' or something.
Since in that clip there was ACTUALLY a Desire being used, it should work. From what I remember:
Go to settings, all programs, search HTC Sense, turn it off.

You could also try to install the Helixlauncher2 app from the Nexus One forum. It's a modified Nexus One launcher2 with a lot more features. I already made a thread in the Desire Themes and Apps forum since I'm curious whether it works flawlessly or not on the Desire. Maybe you can crash test that launcher too?

Hi at long last release time is upon us. I bring to you the Acer Liquid Metal Rom port, with the joint effort of Me,HomerSP(Team Villain) and with testing and collaboration by TheDeadCpu. Now what can i tell you about the rom, is it fast? of course it is, is the battery life good? hard to tell im always on 2g(At&t) Does it all work? No of course not. now with that said lets get on to what does not work.
You NEED CWM3.0, not the Beta Version of CWM 3.0 that only works on gingerbread, if you have that recovery and you flash my rom it will get stuck in the white htc logo, so please download the CWM recovery with rom manager, or make sure its not the Beta version.

Launcher will work .. kind of. It'll take forever to load, and if you touch the black bar, it'll FC. The 8 icons also won't show up. You'll be able to use the app drawer, as well as swipe left and right, but that's about it. No notification bar. Also, doesn't play well with LCD Density.

Today i bring you my senseless rom, what does this mean well this rom is based on sense 2.1 but almost everything that makes sense is removed/ripped out. leaving just the core of android mostly and some sense apps, like the camera, music player, gallery.pull down quick menu/toggles etc.
This rom is aimed at people that don't like rosie and its bulky memory hungry widgets/launcher, but still whant some of the sense goodies like the camera or perhaps the music player, and of course the enhanced pull down menu, etc.
Also people that like stock/aospish roms will feel at home with this one =).

Fastest patch I have ever seen posted !!!
I'm lovin this rom
Update 7-19 Working Lock Screen: jrizk07 has put together a single zip update for a stable lock screen. Big thanks to jrizk07!
In the zip, the Sense 3.0 Weather is included along with the updated 3.0 lock screen. All are working.
Limitations/Bug:
The lock screen will not show missed calls. This is due to the use of the 2.1 phone.apk. The 3.0 phone force closes too much, presumably due to a conflict with our radio.
Some are seeing the VVM app displayed twice in the app drawer. This is not consistently reproduced.
Zip can be found below. It is best flashed on a clean version of the RMK OTA. Flash on top of the ROM with no wipe. Link below:
http://www.multiupload.com/ZXQ2B2L7HE
Update: I have managed to get the lock screen working on the OTA build by RMK. I did no dev work on this, but rather was able to find different combinations of files that mostly worked. I am no Dev and cannot really support this, but wanted to post my findings. Flash at your own risk.
Here is what I did:
Taking the great work by Seo on the Desire HD (Thanks Seo!) in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062962, these are the steps I took:
1. Flash Sense3_WeatherPack-0.13.zip and reboot to set up. Do not wipe.
2. Flash Stock_Weather_KingdomLock-0.3.zip and reboot. Do not wipe.
3. Flash Kingdom_Lockscreen-0.17.zip. Do not wipe
After this, you should have a working lock screen and the new Messaging app. The new Messaging app cannot send MMS, so I pulled the MMS.apk out of the RMK ROM and pushed it back into System/App using Root Explorer (remember to change permissions), and reboot. If MMS is not important to you, you should be able to keep the app.
Bug:
com.android.phone will force close on occasion. I am not sure what is causing this, but it seems to happen mostly at start up. You will lose network connectivity momentarily and it will come back. I am not sure if it is a conflict with my SwitchPro widget for toggling vibrate or not, but seems related. This will also happen when toggling 3G Hotspot, but after the FC, everything works fine.
Work Around:
If the Phone FC'ing is an issue for you, you can push the phone.apk from the RMK ROM similar to the MMS method above. Doing this will not show missed calls on the lock screen and it will not show the count of calls on the phone icon for the lock screen.
I know the Kingdom ROM folks are having the same FC issue with the phone, so we should monitor Joel's progress to see if the issues they are having are related to this.
Now, on to the Quick Settings.
Old Req...
I know we are all waiting for Kingdom and Virtuosity, but I would love to just add these two features to the OTA. I suspect it will yield a very stable ROM.
That said, can anyone point me to a tutorial for porting features? I am sure it will require some framework tweaks and new APKs, but I would like to at least start poking around since we have a stable ROM with all working features.

Don't forget MMS doesn't work.
A good place to start is looking at the sense 3.0 update in that thread.
It replaces various frameworks, permissions, and apk's among other things. The only problem is that it's based on the Incredible S otherwise we'd be able to just flash it normally.
I flashed it just to test and I got the lock screen to work however the com.android.phone will continuously crash along with the status bar. I don't have enough time in the day to look at it piece by piece for a port.

It always fails after a number of retries and looking into it the settings are all blank. That's coming from a clean wipe of everything to beta2.

Same here, i'm interested in being a guinea pig
I'm going to try to get my hands on an inc2 of my own so I can get some work done. Team BAMF has given me permission on the port and I got boot, haven't tested beyond that.

I just successfully ported sense 3.0 . No service yet though. I used a MT4G rom.
for those who want rmks rom with sense 3.0 lockscreen pull all the idlescreen.apks and fusion.apk from a sense 3.0 rom and htclockscreen.apk and put them into the rom before you boot
thats all it takes for 3.0 lockscreen? easy enough. thanks a lot
What ROM would you recommend grabbing these APKs from?
I have flashed Blackout ICS Incredible v3.0 this morning, every thing goes well expect FMradio.
When I try to use FM,it just tells me that I need to insert the headset even I have done that.
I wonder whether that is an universal phenomenon,or it is just my problem?

Blackout V3 ICS 4.0.4 with Sense 3.6 Desire HD
I just flash my Desire HD with the latest 4.0.4 Blackout ICS V3 Sense 3.6, and I found two problems:
1 - when I activate the WCDMA, the cellular network is no longer working.
2 - Tweaks Blackout puts an error: "unable to start activity"
Headset Remote
headset remote isn't working
forgive me if anyone has ever mention this before
be greatly appreciated if someone can give me some pointers of this issue.
Haven't tried the radio since I don't use it that much (froze it with titanium) to reduce the amount of start up apps.
Found portable hotspot to be a problem-> start it up and it would be an unprotected connection even though it is set for a password. Shutting it off afterwards will not allow WIFI to start up unless I reboot.
Yes, I had the same problem with Wifi hotspot. Connected only once and afterwards even after reboot it refused to work... I also had problems with some widgets, ie my favorite Folder Organizer which is crucial to me doesn't display 5 icons in a row, only 4 so icons don't fit. Really strange, since FO worked fine with every other ROM I have tried (even ICS one)

This team of devs is very good about fixing issues, I know they have mentioned a few things and will be fixing on the next update. Since they are working from scratch on alot of things we have to give them credit for a very good rom.

Agreed! This ROM is by far the smoothest 4.0 ROM I've flashed, team Blackout has done a real awesome job!

I had the same problem with not being able to connect to cellular network. I restored to my previous GB ROM in the meantime. (I'm in Australia)
I read somewhere that a ROM's RIL interfaces with the phone's radio (Baseband). Our problem might be with that.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
as mentioned will be fixed in next build.
