Ok so my gf just got the GSII and she is having a problem. She uses an aux cord in her car to plug in her phone so that it goes through the speakers. When she plugs this phone in and makes a phone call, the person on the other end cannot hear her, but she can hear the other end.
Has anyone seen this before and do you have any fixes????
THANKS!
yeah i have this problem too in my car, but when im in my friend's car its fine

hmm that is not what I wanted to hear lol
That really doesnt make any sense at all, it should be the same as its just an aux port. I had her try it with computer speakers and it was the same.
It could be that you had used a bad designed audio cable. If you look at the original headphone that came with the phone, the plug has 3 parts to it (Ground, Sound, and Mic). So it could be that the no good audio cable is taking in the Mic side as well, therefore the other party is not hearing her.
If you really want this mixed 100% without worrying about the type of cable. I suggest you buy a cable with a mic on it with aux in. I am sure you can find one on monoprice.com/amazon/ebay.
Good Luck

Quick question..... Does the phone come packaged with a 3.5mm headphone adapter mic cable? Or could confirm that a third party one works with it?
Something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-5mm-Headpho...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item3f01284f93
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001C0LBEG/smartphonespda-21
I basically would want this feature so I could then plug the input into my AUX input in the car, have MP3's playing, sat nav and make calls.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Does the handsfree plug in the the microUSB?
thanks in advance!
I had the same adapter left over from an old phone and it didnt work with the desire, it would play quietly untill i pressed and held the button then it would come out at normal volume. It didnt answer the phone either. I just plug straight into my car headset with 3.5 to 3.5 jack. I can take calls as ive got a holder in the dash and it comes out throught the car speakers.
Hope this helps.
And what the mic on the handset still picks up the audio clear enough??
I looked at these http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-hs-u350-p19269.htm & http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Headphone-Ear...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item41501064d7
Yea it seems to come out alright. Ive asked my friends while speaking through the handset and they say it comes out ok. Youve gotta talk abit louder tho depending on outside noise. With the windows up its seems fine.
Im in the same boat as you, i was thinking the htc adapter was the most likely to work but not sure. Judging by the comments it looks like it will work.
Oh yea usual handsfrees for the desire plug in via the headphone jack.
You get one standard all in one handsfree and no adapter.
It is possible to have all that up and running, mp3's, sat nav and calls.
I do it daily, just get yourself an official car charger cos i got a cheap one and it blew up on me. I had blue sparks flying out while i was driving.

Thanks dude - good tip
I have a rooted stock SIII... When I first bought the phone everything was working just fine. I would load Pandora, plug in my phone to my car Aux jack and enjoy.
I hadn't actually used that functionality for about a week and during that time I did root my phone ( so not sure if rooting caused this issue ). Anyway, when I am at the gym, I can listen to the music just fine with my headphones. Even receive phone calls and the whole nine.
When I get into my car and plug in my phone to the Aux jack.. Doesn't work.
Here is the strange behavior though. If I take the cable ( unplugged from the car ) and plug it into the phone.. The phone reads "Headset connected". As soon as I plug in the other end... It disconnects.
I have tested the cable on my friend iPod and other Android devices and the cable works fine. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this or knows what I might be able to do.
well if the cable works fine with other devices then i would say try to reflash stock rooted rom... if that doesn't fix it which it should then i would lastly unroot and see if the problem goes away... prolly just the rom may not be reading the headphone jack voltage correctly for some reason...

Are you also plugging in the USB port to a power adapter? I've found many cars have grounding issues between the Aux audio jack and the chassis ground. Symptoms include odd behavior like you list, and weird buzz or whine in the audio when both Aux in and power adapters are used.
If this is the case and unplugging the usb solves your problem you could get an inline filter /ground isolater that will solve the problem.

Sounds like a short in the aux cable. It shouldn't show the cable connected when not plugged in to just the aux cable. Try a different aux cable.

*Edit:*
Just so those who just joined in this converstation don't get too dragged into it, I've resolved this issue simply by buying what is called a ground loop noise isolator adapter. It's main purpose is to remove the static and whining noise you hear from your speakers when you plug your phone to the car charger while connected to the speakers. But at the same time, it is keeping the signal from the aux cable of your car on "hot" so that when you plug in the phone, the phone immediately picks up the aux signal and stays connected. I basically killed two birds with one stone by getting the adapter. Here is the adapter I purchased:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001EAQTRI
I will make it clear here that this aux connectivity problem has nothing to do with how cheap or expensive your aux cable is. You can use the most expensive cable or the cheapest penny cable out there and if the problem exists between your phone and your car's aux, then it won't resolve it. Either change your car's head unit (which is a stupid thing to do) or simply get the adapter. Don't return the phone over this problem, its just a dumb move. The phone is amazing. LG will have a patch for it or someone will make a ROM that tackles the problem.

Hello all,
was wondering if anyone else with the G3 (not sure if it matters, but I have the 851 variant) is having a hard time getting their phone working with the audio jack coming from their car. I drive a 2007 Scion tC and never had any problem of weird issues connecting any of my previous phones (Moto Atrix 4G, LG Nitro HD, GSIII, Nexus 5 just to name a few) to the audio jack in my car. I'll just plug it in and it connects just fine.
But for some odd reason, the G3 is having tons of issues. When I plug in the audio jack to the phone, I see the audio jack icon pop up up top next to the clock, but then some times it will just disappear on its own. Other times, it will stay there, but when I play a media, may it be music, or video from any app, the sound will play out of the speaker on the phone and not the car speakers. Unplugging it while the media is playing and replugging it again will not change anything, but if I stop the media playback, unplug it and then plug it back in, and the icon reappears and then I tap play immediately, the audio will then come out from the car speakers. Some times I have to do this multiple times to finally get it to work.
The strangest thing is, this does not happen if I plug anything else to the G3, such as a headset or an external speaker or any other devices, only in my car. It even works fine in any other car as far as I know. I've tried different audio cables in my car but it still does the same thing, so it doesn't seem to be the cable.
Is there some kind of sensor in the phone that detects connectivity of the phone to another device? I realize that when I plug in the phone to my car, the car speakers makes a couple of whining noises before it goes quiet, sort of sending or receiving a signal from the phone.
Can anybody please help me? I want to say that the phone is defective, but I can't proof so since it works just fine with any other devices. Could it be the head unit in my car is incompatible with the phone? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Not just you. I've found that if I start my music playing, and then plug in my aux cord I can usually get it to work

Thanks bfranklin, I didn't realize there was another thread about it. Wish all the G3 are under the same group.
I noticed i get some crackling feedback when i hit play on a track.. but then it works fine and even with moving the aux jack it doesn't keep cracking... just on initial play/loading of the music player
I have to plug the cable in very slow or it won't work.

That was my trick initially but eventually even that didn't work. Someone mentioned to try plugging in a charger first and then plug in the aux cable and that worked. But now I bought a ground loop noise isolator and that has resolved the problem completely. I also don't get so much popping noise and no whining noise when I charge the phone while the car is running. Here's what I bought:

If you use low quality Audio cables like Monster sells it will be higher resistance than a quality cable and should register without issue. The phone struggles with discovering the connection.

I'm gonna disagree here bc I'm using a cable from a Wal-Mart discount bin, which is I'm thinking the cheapest kind available, and it doesn't work right.

I was not saying that. If you use Griffen cable at 14 . or monster cable at 20. Or rocketfish at 18. They all work the same. Just not buying that it is a cable issue. Hardware more like it. I actually just order a eBay cable for .99 cents to prove this totally wrong.
This has nothing to do with cables. I literally tried over 6 different cables and nothing worked between my phone and my car's aux port. Yet I used the same cables in my friend's car (old Nissan sentra) that has an aux port and they all worked fine with the phone. Also used a cassette aux adapter kit in my gf's sister's old SUV and it works fine with it.
This is purely hardware compatibility issue. Some head unit's aux port stays hot at all times, others don't. Some probably reacts faster than others and connects immediately so the phone doesn't drop connectivity before engaging. Again, like I've mentioned, you can either circumvent the issue by using the "charge phone first then plug in aux cable" trick, or simply buy a ground loop isolator adapter which keeps the connection hot. LG will fix the problem eventually. It was an annoyance, but a minor one, and i can't be any happier with this phone despite of the connection issue.

Hey guys and gals,
can you guys all do me a favor and head to my other thread when you have a chance. I'm making a list of cars and its head unit that is either compatible or not with the G3 from the get go. Please support it by providing your answers so I can populate the list.

When I had my S3 I was able to listen to music in my car via my aux cable in to the car stereo as well as make and receive phone calls. I could hear the other person over the car speakers and they could hear me using through phone mic.
However with my G4 H815 when I try to do the exact same thing the other person can't hear me. It's as though the phone mutes the mic when it's connected to an aux cable. Any way to fix this? Very frustrating.
Anyone?

Bumping because i have the exact same issue. I wonder if it's LG's voicemate screwing with things. Also, why do I get prompted to accept all the legal stuff for Voice Mate EVERY TIME i plug in my aux cable?
You guys should get this cable, its got a mic on the end that plugs into the radio

Hello Mi6 Owners
Im quite happy with my Mi6, but ive noticed something which is very bad.. Since Mi6 doesnt have a headphone jack it ships with an adapter.. Well I've lost that original adapter, and then a few days after i lost it ordered an replacement.. That replacememt worked for a few days, but the cable on that one was pretty flimsy, so it kinda broke amd i returned it.. Then i ordered some nice looking cable, and i plug it in, and it doesnt work at all, no headphones recognized and no sound coming from them.. So i thought the cable was trash and i bought one from a quite known brand where i live, in a local store here, and again it doesnt get recognized.. But i noticed (Note that all cabled i ordered said, they were compatible with the Mi6) that when i plug the headphones in the plugged in adapter, i get some weird noises, like when you rotate a 3.5mm jack in its port, some weird sounding noises, but thats all noise i get out of it... So is my port broken ? Charging works completely fine.

That's a weird one.
Hopefully its not broken as it seems to be okay with everything else.
I have no expertise on this but I have two suggestions that won't hurt you.
1.a. If the phone isn't playing music from the speaker then it has detected the headphones. It sounds stupid but on MIUI if you put the phone on silent the volume of music goes to 0.
Double check you have turned the volume up a bit and not on 0.
That's the kind of thing I would make a mistake about....
1. Use something very thin and very gentle (don't scratch anything) to clean out the port. It could be a piece of dust or something.
2. Does the port work for data transfer to a PC? If so then the data pins of the port are working.
3. See if you can borrow someone's adapters. But remember different manufacturers switch around the pins inside the phone and adapter to make only their adapter work on their phones. Its actually really awful they can do this as the whole point of USB C is to standardise everything....
Mine however works with the google pixel adapter so some of them will work
Hello, thanks for your reply
1. Its not getting detected.. So i plug them in, the sound goes through the speaker, as if no heaphones are connected.. The only sound i get from the headphones is when i twist them around in the adapter, a bit, like some weird noises, but definetely not from the music playing (but the adapters ive boight clearly say they are for Mi6)
2. Data Transfer works without problems.. Pc detects it and can copy files in both ways no problem
Those USB-C to 3.5 are a NIGHTMARE, mine was acting like the one you have... if you headset has a detachable 3.5. You can buy a usb-c to 3.5 so you avoid any adapter..... But in the end is cheaper just to get some cheap BT headset. Jbl, Phillips among other sell BT headset for not a lot of money.
Hello, i own a xiaomi mi6, but my model was with main MIC damaged so i have replaced It. Now main MIC works fine and charge working too. The only thing that does not work is the audio output of headphones. Can someone help me please?
