anyone noticing much worse battery life since on el26 from el13?
is it even possible a modem can cause decreased/increased battery life?
A modem certainly can affect battery life.

it deff. decreases my battery.. i hate it.. eats my batter really quick..so quick. ive been trying it for the past week ...ive installed set cpu and it doesnt help... just thinking about it drains my battery!

ok thanks for that info. im beginning to believe this el26 hates my phone then. ive tried various roms and kernals and still getting 1/2 the battery life i was prior to el26
EL26 is a Vampire!
I switched back to EL13.
My battery life on 26 was like watching a second hand on a clock tick away my juice.
thanks for all the inputs. knowing others experienced this helps me from driving myself crazy trying to figure out whats wrong and a fix. i'll be switching back to 13 myself and hopefully i get back my battery life
I am on Calk's EL13 ROM (2.5.1) and only flashed the EL26 modem recently and my battery is still fantastic, so it certainly is not the modem draining my battery...battery lasts well over 2 days with light to moderate use

Modem performance depends on your location, so just because el26 doesn't drain your battery, doesn't mean it isn't draining the op's battery.

yea after q&a's i notice others are getting worse battery like me and others says its still good. so the statement about 'modem performance depends on location' makes sense.
instead of reverting back to EL13 because of the horribly battery life i was getting from EL26 i upgraded to EL29 since it became available. I can report my battery life is much better than EL26 and hopefully back to what i was getting on EL13.
EL13 = 30-40hrs battery life
EL26 = 15-19hrs battery life
EL29 = im currently on my first cycle and still have 57% at 17hrs on battery
so for others who had problems with battery since el26 i recommend giving el29 a whirl
EL26 has best battery life i have had on this phone only beaten how ever by 100% stock but that might have been because my battery was brandnew so idk for sure

Are you all upgrading the modem only or kernel + modem? I've been running the kernel + modem combo for all 3. Initial impressions for me are that EL29 has the worst battery life out of the 3. Here are my results:
EL13 and EL26 ~20 hours of battery life w/ 3 hour of screen time
EL29 ~only 16 hours on 2 hours of screen time

yea i've tried so many combos of mixing and matching. i'm beginning to beleive every phone reacts different. no matter what i did el26 killed my battery. so from all this i've learned you just got to test test test and find out what works best for you

Funny... I think I've agreed with you on other posts, buy I had better battery life on stock EG30 modem on ROM a well.
EL29 is getting better, though. I went from 7:00am to 4:00am with light to moderate usage, and was still over 30%.

I was getting life like that until I upgraded my ROM to Calkulin's 2.0. Heres a screen shot.
BlStboy your battery life is normal for sure. Im am totally obsessed you could say with battery life. I was getting 5+ hours on stock rom with stock kernel and then tried out star burst and it went to 3 1/2 average. On caulkin's its the same but with much better performance and reliability. Idk why stock gave me such good life. But i know i. Like caulkin's the best because his is a bit smoother over stock and allows more tweeks. Ill upload my current this. Minute battery screenie's for you buddy. One sec
Here are the pics i promised. Almost exactly the same as yours. ICS should increase battery life some i imagine as its all hardware accelerates and new OS's always provide better battery tweaks. Hope thia helps, if it does dont mind hittinf the thanks button
EDIT- the only reason it shows my battery life at 24% is because i stuck my gf's battery in because my battery was at 4% and i didnt want it to die while i uploaded the pictures to you
im currently on 35hours and at 18%. i am runnning Calkulin's 2.0 (not bare) and ek02 modem. also right after installing 2.0 i charged my battery with wall charger to 100%, then quickly plugged into my PC until it said 100%. then i pulled the battery out for 100 seconds then rebooted. i am currently still on that cycle.
Thanks for the replys guys as soon as I get my jig im installing culkin 2.0 :-D I wanted to wait for an official ota so I wont get stuck like the eg31

5+ hours? I watch netflix with 30% brightness for 6 hours and then my phone dies. But i get at least 14-18 hours out of my phone with heavy usage. Blazing ROM EG31 Modem.
Wipe battery stats and calibrate.
It's a good day when I get over 12 hours w/ ~2-3 hours of screen on time (calk's rom). Quite disappointing, but better than the 6-8 hours I used to get on stock before calibration.
...
I've only had the phone for about 2 days now. With just a few short calls and quite heavy wifi use (customizing!), I think I got around 5-6 hours? I could be wrong though..
I've honestly been getting different results fairly regularly. I spent about two weeks on Calkulin's 1.5a, and during that time I had days where I would go twenty-six hours before getting to 10%; today, I'm at just under five hours and sititng at 73%. I cannot get consistency from it.

My battery readings are really off. There are times when the battery increases in percentage without being on the charger. Is this normal?
I calibrated the battery (oem) but this continues.
Mines been doing that... really more interestingly I found something about using the wrong charger throws your cycle off? What charger do you use? I use my old BB charger since it has a wayyyy longer cord
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I've only used the OEM charger the last few days but it still happens. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has this issue.
Mine has been pretty bad as well. I think you're actually doing a bit better than me, considering your high screen on time.
Some ROM, kernel, and modem info may be helpful to see if there's a common factor contributing to the big drop in battery

I've noticed mine always seems to drop quite a bit while I'm asleep if I don't charge it overnight. Which is strange because during the day I keep it connected to either WiFi or 4G pretty much all day and I can get at least 15 hours out of it there but 7 hours of sleep at night and my phone decides to give up on battery life.

I had to do battery calibration 4 times after changing to EK02 modem but my signal strength is much better. My battery was dropping to 96% as soon as I unplugged it. Have you tried the Battery Calibration app by Ne'ma?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I'm on Calk's 2.0 with EK02 kernel and EG30 modem and am having great battery life...odd. Doubt that the modem would make that much of a difference.
Currently at 26 1/2 hours w/ no plug-ins, 29% battery left, with moderate use (awake and screen on times comparable to the screenshot you posted).
All that app does is remove the battery stat file, which is proven to do less than nothing on the E4GT. I'll try some normal calibrations, though; I'm also going to try the Zedomax kernel and see if that makes a difference.

I have heard that the app does nothing as well. I only suggested it because after I changed modems when my phone charged to full and I unplugged it, it dropped to 96% immediately until I used that a couple of times. i've experienced sudden drops in battery level after a reboot, going from 50% to 20%. the phone is unrooted, just got it last week. when there are no sudden drops, the battery life has been good, 12 hours with moderate/heavy use (wifi with streaming internet radio, email, web browsing, gaming), much higher with some down time.
is there a fix for this?
Hellos guys I would like to know wich Rom out there has the best battery life.??? Im running the latest juggernaut..thanks.
I would say dewizzled

I'm not sure if you can just say best battery life is XXX as everyone's usage patterns are different and different aspects drain the battery faster than others. I have found Dewizzed to give me the best life out of all of the ones I've tried, but I don't get near the time that many post in that thread. The one difference is that when they post their usage stats I never see "Voice Calls" in the top half of the apps using battery, whereas if I look at mine right now Voice calls is #1 at 53% and Display is #2 at 18%. I use my phone heavily as a phone during the workweek, others use it as a media device, others gaming...you get the idea.
Try Dewizzed and try a couple of others. It's easy to flash and then restore or go back to one that works better for you (plus the geek in me thinkgs that is fun too).

I was wondering the same thing. But more along the lines of which rom kernel combo people are running. Now to hijack original posters thread, but if people could also put what kernel they are running too. The best I ever got was BeastMod with Synergy, but once he left the building I don't feel like any of the other ones have been as good.

That tells us little, click on display and show us how much time the display has actually been on
From my experience, it is not necessarily the rom that effects the battery life as much as the kernel does. Every rom I have installed I end up changing the kernel to synergy 10 and see a big increase in battery life.

Display time on and brightness? From the graph it doesn't seem like you used the phone for too much and we don't know how bright your screen was, time on voice calls and any other applications. Why is it that people don't know how to post battery life correctly? Your wifi was on most of the time and wifi uses less battery than data connectivity plus we don't know the type of reception you were receiving. Edge consumes less battery than 3G. These are all factors that need to be taken into consideration to draw a clear conclusion on your battery life.

as for the batt. % i get that all the time even when i reboot..tho i get a bigger drop in % when the batter is lower.. like if i was at 50% batt power.. reboot then i would be like at 20% batt. power.. but it would stay at 20% for a really long time till it caught up with it. and sometimes the batter % would rise up a bit. but eventually start to go down again.
But maybe I have a bad battery also.. so im not sure...lol

I had the exact same problem my phone would constantly reboot and shut itself off then I would lose half my battery % I thought it was the battery too so I returned it to stock and took it to sprint they looked at the phone for 2 hours and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it or the battery. So I took it home and re rooted using Qbking77's latest method the one that does not give you the yellow triangle and I have not had one reboot or sleep of death since and the phone just runs soo much better now so I think it was a bad root for me. I would try re rooting with the latest method and see what that does for you. Also ya out of curiosity what rom are you using because I have heard similar stories from people running the ICS leaks.

I'm running caulk's fc07 1.1 with the repacked kernal. It happened to me before on GB while also running caulk's rom but it only a few times. It seems to happen more now. Here is a screen of my battery
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
I believe this would happen more in most recent ROMs because everyone is focusing how fast we can run it or how long we can use it. In either case, there are lots of tweaks and mechanism to make it fast and last long.
For the battery life, there is some background process monitoring unnecessary processes and kills those or tweaks to less frequently monitor the status. So, if the process which is related to battery life is killed, next time when it wake up, it may detect the different life time based on current Voltage or mA. I'm not an expert in this area but it's highly possible scenario. Tweaking the system brings lots of good things to us but in the other side, there could be some
side effect.
If you want to verify this theory, you can just compare the non tweaked rom versus tweaked Rom.
Be sure that you don't run any battery saver apps on non tweaked rom to measure it correctly.
Attached is my last screenshot yesterday after I removed the battery saver app. Currently I'm using Calk's Stock Rom FC07 (non tweaked version). Based on my test, the battery last longer than when battery save app installed and running.
Cool I didn't know that would be an issue. Well I'll try that thanks for help

Hi everyone
I just installed the Darkside 3 #8 - with all the steps outlined but am finding the battery life is BRUTAL - barely getting 8 hours out of my phone.
Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to get the phone working through the day?
Does the phone take a few days to "get used" to the new ROM to allow the battery to settle down?
Thanks in advance!

You also may want to try to determine the cause of your battery drain using a couple free apps from the playstore. I suggest using GSAM battery monitor and CPU Spy.

Any time you flash a new ROM you should give it a few power cycles to get everything settled, and calibrated, typically around a week of use.
Hey guys I use plume for twitter and I noticed its using over half my battery are there any other twitter alternates that are easy on the battery?

Agreed.. CPU sleeper is a huge saver. Darkside ROM has been AMAZING battery life. Setcpu on badass, juice defender ultimate.. easy 24 hour battery life WITH a functional phone. I've been sold. Also ANKER batteries are legit. My 2 more than fulfill my needs.
