Hey everyone I have a question about the development of ICS that was being led by viperboy. Does anyone e know what happen to it?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Viper got sick of the flame wars on xda from what I heard, especially in the epic touch forums. He still develops for other devices.

the project was squashed due to not being able to do it. they were going to try cm7 first then work on cm9/ics. the whole drama with bubby and all (yeah I said it BUBBY) happened and viper sort of faded off into the night. the whole "once we have cm7 we can do ics" was confusing to me if you cant build cm from source how can you build ics the flaming crap may have been the straw that broke the camels back, but there was a whole lot more stopping the project than just that.

Alright sorry to post this ridiculously noob question to ask, but whats the current word on an ICS port for the Epic. In no way am I asking for an eta, and I'm not trying to rush any devs, I'm just purely asking because i haven't seen much through searching the inter-webs and the only thread on it here got closed due to some arguments.

The inter-webz & general thread aren't the place to look.
Check out the development section for the E4GT. There has been a port of the latest SGSII international ICS but we do not have a working kernel. Dev's are working on it and there is no ETA.
There are a couple of reports of different devs working on ICS but nothing usable yet. We don't even have cm7 do to a mix of arrogance, naivety, and politics.
However, my gut feeling says we are included as part of the official launch of CM9.

not quite true. We have a very well working cm7 kang. Only thing missing from it is GPS and a few minor bugs. It even has 911 calling patch. Just not on xda because of as you said politics. Its up on another big dev board though.

I've tried the kang and I liked it but it was too unstable to be my daily driver. I should say we don't have official CM7 but hopefully the Android community will band to together and give us CM junkies our sweet, sweet fix.
Have you tried alpha 4 that was released today?

Just saw it got posted, i may try it when I have a couple days to really test it.
Does anybody know where i can download the latest build for Evervolv Ics? Please and thank you.
Hey,
I think that rom is built for the Htc Evo 3d, as I could only find information for the 3d and not the regular evo, sorry. But you can try Jared the Greats, Mad Wowz, or Decks Ics roms which are coming along quite well! and I know you will like them! and in a few months CM9 should be making its debute on the evo! so just hold on ICS goodness is coming!

First Timer...
Hey guys,
I've frequented xda-developer quiet a bit, but never registered because I didn't feel I had much to contribute, given the array of knowledge from some of the guys here. Respect
Anyways, back on topic:
I found a YouTube video of someone showcasing the latest EverVolv ROM running ICS on an Evo 4G (OG).
Just flashed it myself and so far everything seems to work fine. Android version is 4.0.3. The person has links to the ROM and Google Apps available in the description section of the video. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts to post outside links so here goes...
-Go to YouTube.com
-Search for "ICE CREAM SANDWICH ANDROID 4.0.3 ROM FOR EVO 4G".
-Click on the video uploaded by username "MrblueEVO4g"
-Click "Show More" underneath the video where the description is.
Hope this helped...
I went to evervolv web site under google. Nice rom.

Why does the green LED on the right of grill keep blinking? I have no unread notifications, and the phone is not plugged in...
Not to insult the JB roms that are out for the evo (I've tried just about all of them) and I HIGHLY respect the work that's been put into JB for the Evo4G however, I put a JB rom on my Kindle Fire months ago and it's absolutely amazing as far as being snappy and responsive and my quest to find something similar for my evo has fallen below my (possibly unreasonable) expectations. JB Roms for the evo are amazing except for the butter factor I've become a custom to on my kindle seems to be MIA.
I was just wondering if it's likely that the evo 4g will ever experience project butter in its true form? Does the Evo4G's hardware hinder this area of development? Or is it on the horizon?
Just looking for a bit of education here because I know little to nothing when it comes to development of a rom other than how to flash them.

Bump it then lol

Most likely, no. The source code for the drivers for things like the FFC and 4G were never released by HTC, so having a fully-functional ICS or JB ROM will most likely never be a reality.
Sent using my HTC EVO 4G and a magic wand
I could live without 4g or ffc, I never use either one anyway... I was just wondering why project butter can't be ported? Or if perhaps it can or eventually will be? I guess I'm grasping at straws here hoping someone would tell me YES lol.

Tdj just stopped playing here in our forum and it's been months from him without saying a word. Does anybody know what happened?

I think he stopped making roms to spend time with his family.
He traded his S2 for a gnex. He is retired, at least as far as the T989 is concerned.
Ah a promotion I see. I hope he comes to the t989 once again to really bring a significant development, I've seen a lot of great things happen in our dev forum, I also think tdj left too soon, but that comparison is just results of the ROMs we have. I think if tdj came back, he'll really make difference because he was a big wind in our forums in the gingerbread days.

He's not coming back, sorry. He moved on to a GNex because he was getting flamed and people were flaming him. As far as I know, he's done devving in general, not just for the Hercules.
I read that he got mad of people ripping his work off, but he is a legend. I still go back to his work after i get tired of jb roms
I guess he's independent as a dev which explains why he ran out of time to play on our dev forum. Maybe he'll be back after a break plus discovery add improvement to our ROMs. He was innovative man, I guess it's harder to stay when a reliable and independent dev gets kanged and offended. I know there was a whole dilemma with Bosnia and beastmod because of the offense taken by the ROM and it's coding, back in those days everyone wanted to be Independent, today ROMs are enormous with devs and support and info. Hopefully the Hercules will last forever.

Really ? Move on guys. People were flaming himand talking $hit all the time. If you loved him so much you should have stood up when it was time.
I have heard that you guys are experiencing the same as the Shift forum, people upgrading and forum members dwindling... I have gotten a lot of help from the devs on this forum and wanted to give back. I have a CM10 ROM on the Shift with the v6 SuperCharger baked in, I was wondering if you guys would be interested. If so, can somebody direct me to your most stable CM10 ROM so I can port it over?

I've got MazWoz on my laptop actually, I tried to port it when we first got JB, didn't work but it should work as a base. Hmm I will definitely need some testers seeing as I do not own this device. It may take some time, I was just wondering if there was interest in it. It is pretty stable on the Shift, the only bugs reported have been 4G(of course) and BT Calling.I have got the latest Netflix working according to two of my testers who had accounts.
I'll test for you whenever its ready
Everyday thousands of innocent plants are murdered by vegetarians....................... Help end the violence................ Eat bacon.
I can test for you as well. Still got my EVO.
Alright gentleman I will start on it soon I am in the process of updating to v5 and when that is done I will port it over. I have ported a few things from the EVO to the Shift including: SmurfMod9, RemICS, ACEics, Halo, JellyBread and SonicFlame but this is my first time doing it the other way around, be gentle lol. I also have an ICS mashup called Shifty Bastard that I can port over.
Here is the thread link so you can check it out:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024749
Sometimes I miss having the shift. I loved the pull out keyboard.

That's why I originally got it, I was coming from a BlackBerry and wasn't sure about touchscreens lol. While the keyboard is nice, I'm going with the Optimus G when I upgrade in a couple months, unless HTC gets their ish together and come out with a quad core on Sprint.
I heard the butterfly was coming to sprint. Its the non verizon version of the dna. Its supposed to be sweeeeeeet. I've heard good things about the optimus g, but I'm just not to sure about having an lg phone

I wasn't either til I tried out my parents' Lucid and LG has come a long way (I owned a Neon lol), their stock ICS is sweet. But if the Butterfly comes to Sprint who knows. Well here is a teaser: JellyBelly v5/sio/smoothass/1.5 GHz/ class 2 sd 16 gb
Looking forward to giving this a go man. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask.

Did you use evervolvs latest? Go back a few versions because I believe he's been working on 4.2 so it may not be compatible. His other version should suffice.
