How can I get visual voicemail to work on my epic 4g I'm running miui 1.12 I have read to change the permissions to rw- r-- r-- but I have no idea where to go in change that please help
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Your question is better suited to the a and a section. But you need
to download something like riot explorer and mount the system directory as write. Then you dean long press on it and change permissions. Then reboot.

Dyac. q and a section. And root explorer not riot explorer lol

Where can I find the vvm app at
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Google voice ftw..... It'll even do speech to text and send the translated text to your gmail for free. Perfect if your at work or dinner and can't listen to a voicemail.

I don't like Google voice I found a app called youmail works just like vvm

install the attached apk. no need to set permission, or restore previous data. just install and run..

Is it possible to get the verizon visual voicemail on CM7?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
yea it's possible and actually easy. download root explorer mount rw. go to build. prop and open in text editor. find the line that says.... ro. horizontalvvm= true. change that to flase, let it save, then reboot after that you can download it from the market. Also, you can use this for any rom you run.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Is it false or flase?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
LOL false..... my bad.
If I've helped you out.....hit that thank you button.
I was a little disappointed at first when I lost the Dinc visual voice mail... Then I found google voice.
Just use Google Voice. In my opinion its better

THIS IS FOR CM9 ONLY!
This apk has the option to turn off voicemail notifications, Aka phantom voicemail.

Delete original phone.apk
Push this to system/app
Profit

Where is the stock phone apk located? I should probably make a titanium backup of it no?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I would rename your original phone.apk to something like "original_phone.apk" instead of deleting it. You never know...

Its located in system/app
You only want to make a back up if you ever feel like getting it back in the future

I tried to install this, did everything right and I was unable to get service on my phone, also going into mobile networks section would crash, luckily I had made a nandroid backup just before doing this. Just a warning
On the Verizon model, there IS NO "phone.apk" in the System/App folder. There is a "SecPhone.apk", but making changes to it makes you lose your Verizon service, both voice and data.
I have phoneerrservice.apk and phonesky.apk, am I removing both?

I think you're talking about the touchwiz phone app. This thread is about the cyanogenmod9 phone app

What I'd really like is a notification that can be dismissed, not sure if that is possible though

I too am coming from a rooted Verizon phone. Is there any known workaround for installing this apk?

How did you install it? Did you use adb and push it to /system/app? Did you use root explorer and copy it to /system/app and then edit the permissions appropriately? Or did you just open the apk to install?
This is for CM9 users only.

I used root explorer and pushed it to system/app and change permissions. After that, I got no service, wifi worked but couldn't make phone calls or send/receive text messages. So I had to restore from Android backup

Is it possible to to take that effect and apply this to my own custom wallpaper?
Still can't figure this out :x

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
If I'm understanding you correctly you want to open the apk you downloaded from the play store.
Use a root file app like root explorer and go to system/apps. Find the apk and copy it to your sd card. Then transfer it to your computer and use apktool to decompile the apk.
That's one way to do it. There are others but that's one to get you started.
Edit. .. Now I would email the dev of that app to ask permission to use a part of his app to create your own.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks I'll try it.
Not going to use the dev theme to make another theme for sale or to put on the app store just personal use.

Made this per jovy23 directions listed here.
This is for Deodexed TW roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172543&page=1
Things I added:
Screen on/off toggle
add the vibration and signature options
Save/Restore options
SMS 1000/unlimted Recipient Limit
Changed messaging time stamp
I have attached a flashable zip and the apk file itself in 7z as it was to large to upload unpacked. Make sure to back up your original and set correct permissions
Worked as expected. Thanks!

Glad it works for everyone.
I know jovy23 listed an option to enable group messaging but I have not really seen a stock TW that does group messaging perfectly where it keeps all messages in one group. I will try it out and see what happens.
I am learning as I go on this so bare with me on time frame

OK here is just the apk in 7z. you would need to push this to the system/app folder and set permissions as rw- r-- r--. I pushed it to mine to verify it would run but have not tested the group messaging part yet.

One is a flashable zip the other is the actual apk file but it was larger then the xda upload limits so I compressed it into a .7z file.
This is for the SecMms or messaging app it will not touch your SamsungIME which controls your auto correct and long press mod
So we can just flash the zip and disregard the 7z file if we aren't as capable?

How do you go about importing a jar file into my current stock deodexed 4.1.2?, specifically your 4 in 1 reboot mod
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
You would need a file explorer app that has root access. I use es file explorer. Then go into system/framework and rename your current file and paste your new one in and set permissions to rw- r-- r--
By the way I just uploaded a new launcher that has some changes to it also

Does it work like group messaging should? I know synergy had the anonymous thing but replies would still come separate and it wouldnt let me send more than ine message to the group. If I wanted to try it out do I have to unzip it first or just change the name and permissions?

I'm running the latest Wicked Rom and play store says there's an update for the Google Keyboard which I run. It then tells me "Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
I can't find a way to uninstall the current google keyboard so I can update. Any ideas?
If its in /system/app/ rensme it with te extension .bak. then reboot and try to install it again.

Hey Doc, thanks for the very quick reply. I checked the app folder in system per your instructions but there was no Google keyboard listed. Any other ideas?
Then I guess its not a system app. (It may have IME somewhere in the name btw. Sometimes the keyboards don't have the word keyboard in the file name. For example, Samsungs keyboard is SamsungIME.apk.
Look in App management and see if you can uninstall it there.

Thanks Serio, so I renamed it with .bak, ran the update but got the same error message unfortunately.
I also looked in app manager, but it doesn't give me an option to uninstall it, I cleared the data and tried again but the same error.
Did you remember to reboot after renaming?
Go into /data/data/ and look for the folder for the keyboard. Something like com.google.latinime
Rename that folder too. I usually just put a Z or A in front of the name to make it easy to find.
