I tried looking through a few pages of the dev section and didn't see anything regarding this feature. Is it obsolete? If I could make a wish list for features baked in, then here they are:
Stock kernel
No ciq
Cal's battery life mod
Ek02 would be good but el26 would be nicer
No themes
odex, but if it would be easier to deodex then go ahead
Nothin fancy. Thanks ahead of time if someone does this.

Shouldn't be hard to find something real close to that in the dev section already. I'm not sure if anyone has a kernel with voodoo sound support yet.
Would love to have voodoo sound. Made video recordings in a loud environment on my OG Epic possible.

Even if its bone stock with voodoo sound/screen capable kernel, I'd be happy.
One thing I just thought about, maybe our phones don't have the sound chip hardware that the galaxy 1's had. I don't know the specifics so I couldn't speculate. Maybe there could be a voodoo sound/screen driver for galaxy 2 phones. Like voodoo^2
And bln support too

BLN is easy, voodoo isn't compatible with the DAC in our phones afaik

That's my understanding too. I don't think we will ever see Voodoo on this phone unfortunately. I am using the paid PowerAmp. It has a nice EQ. You can also check out AudioBoost SGS2 and Equalizer apps from the Market

Im wondering, coming from the OG Epic, if anything is in the works for a kernel with EX4 and Voodoo sound support? Would the ET4G benefit from these kernel mods?
Im pretty sure the phone is ext4 stock... And vodoo sound idk..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
The E4GT is ext4 stock.
I'm sure Voodoo support would be a welcome addition, since the E4GT has the same Yamaha DAC as the SGSII.
Good to know they ditched RFS.

I'll be looking into this for a future kernel release
No voodoo sound I emailed supercurio, he will not work on the sgs2 because it uses a different audio chip (yamaha). He believes its not worth working on.

That's terrible news!
Does anyone know a comparable app for improved sound quality/bass boost?

Well Poweramp has an adjustable EQ but be careful because the damn app always runs in the background.

Ok...obvious question...which one of the two should I use? Anyone done a side by side comparison of mods or features? I know one is deod and the other can use either. What else ???? Thanks

Cleangb isn't as heavily modded and closer to stock whereas sleeper is more of a tuned rom ?? I'm not too sure try them both and see which you like best. Too many opinions floating around so go with what works for YOU.

I had trouble with the earlier update scripts on Sleeper. It seems 2.04 has gotten all the bugs out. You can't beat CleanGB for convering to MTD and Toad seems to be on top of his game. I have not tried them on BML but I am sure they are comparable. The advantage that Sleeper offers is 2 versions, slim and full. Both seem very fast at stock frequencies. Since I restore advanced data from nandroid my setups always look the same and can compare performance. Sorry if this wasn't much help.

Clean gb the whole way no bugs runs flawless. Sleeper has some bugs I won't get into specifics here nor is this post disconcerning any effort of said projects or devs

Cm7 should be solid it would depend on the nightly you flash. But cm9 is alpha so I'm sure it has some bugs

It's not for everyone. It is non-Touchwiz. That is probably the most important thing to remember so things will be different. I made a thread in General on both CM7 and CM9 where people can post tips and tricks to ease the experience of jumping over. I ran CM7 for awhile up to nightly 28. It is solid. CM9 as stated is in Alpha 3 now. It is pretty good for a taste of ICS but not for everyone.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I think the OP is looking for a production build, so a nightly build version would not be ideal. CleanGB would be my recommendation. Just less overhead and room for errors.
side by side comp
Interesting thing, obvious too for most...
Each of the Devs use each other stuff(s) and they give credit for the mods each have used in the final rom...
As a side by side, I can see pros and cons of the two, I have used both and seem to lean towards Sleeper...not sure exactly why. but I have nandrroids of both ready to go.
Just cant seem to want to try the CM builds, would love to see what the Viper Devs could come up with in EL30 though.

What I mean is a ROM directly from the latest GB tmobile source not a ported GB/ICS ROM from another phone. I just feel that since its made for that phone it gonna be the most stable just like Bionix1.3.1 in my Vibrant. Of course I want one that has been tweaked and debloated with voodoo with the option to install a custom kernel.

Its the name of the ROM. Its by freeza. I consider freeza a dev to keep ur eye on.
As far as the kernel goes, if your on stock(or any touchwiz rom) your choices are limited but the best kernel for battery life is the stock kernel anyway.

Jamal717 - So, you like the Freegs3 ROM? I haven't tried it yet...I'm not a Sonic fan...I'm concerned Sonic pics would be themed within the ROM. (Are they?) Maybe I should give it a try, though. So far, I have flashed:
1. JellyBomb Domination, v7.0 (Decent)
2. JB Goodness, v4.0 (Fav so far)
3. Frankenstein KilLJoy, v1.0 (Current ROM...enjoying it)
I'm still new to rooting, so I am not even attempting the under/overclocking kernel piece yet.

I tried Freegs3 not bad although there still wasn't much on yhe the under/over clocking and voltage I really hope someone is working on a solid S3 Kernel besides me
SAMSUNG MOMENT CHECK
HTC HERO CHECK
HTC EVO CHECK
SAMSUNG GALAXY SIII PRICELESS
i'm on freegs3. i didn't want a themed rom full of tweaks and stuff that don't benefit me, that's why i went with his. it has auto update capability, and the few tweaks that are included you can choose to install or not during the install process. the only sega themed item is the boot animation, which you can change if you want very easily, he gives a list in the thread. check it out, it's definitely more stable than my stock rom was, it was crashing every 5 minutes. this is great.
Okay.. Most of you people know who I am.. and if you know me you know I am not much of a kernel dev ... Regardless, I love AOSP but while running CM10.1, I felt I was missing some things that were more readily available for a Stock ROM.. Things such as (unofficial)Voodoo sound, Overclocking and Undervolting.. So I went ahead and forked CM's kernel and added a few needed things.
Notes:
Thie kernel is for AOSP only!
This kernel include's codeworkx's downgrade to mali r2p4 commit from CM's gerrit.. In this commit codeworkx specifically states that there is a memory leak. Now I will also say this.. This downgrade greatly improves the graphical glitches found in the android 4.2 ROMS, IE no more keyboard funkyness etc... I have yet to see this leak myself and think the trade-off is worth it. If this causes serious issues for people let me know.
Features:
Unofficial Voodoo sound driver (otherwise this has not been reviewed and approved by Supercurio)
OverClock up to 1.8 Ghz
CPU Undervolting
Downgrade to mali r2p4 which fixed graphic glitches

Is this compatible with Stweaks for tuning issues?

no this is not compatable with stweaks nor is is Scoobydoo sound.. It does work with the voodoo sound app though.. I will say this again.. This has not been tested nor approved by SuperCurio so he could very well block the download from the app store which is in his right to do. Regardless I am sure he will eventually release proper support for Voodoo in the near future and when he does I will add it.

Loving this kernel but unfortunately I have seen the aforementioned memory leak. First time earlier today Tasker complained of low memory. Been running Tasker for a while and never have I had it complain until I flashed kernel. Second time was later today when I noticed I only had ~200 mb of ram free and hasn't used my phone in hours. I have a widget on homescreen with system stats so it's hard to miss. Liking the OC/UC ability and voodoo though. Thanks again.
