Wife just upgraded from an LG flip phone, so this is her first smartphone. She has used it for a week now, and we have a few questions.
1. The device did not come with a micro SD card when my wife bought it from the Sprint store. I would have thought it would have come with one, even if it wasn't the biggest or fastest. Is this normal?
2. The phone takes a full 2 seconds for the screen to wake up when you take the phone away from your ear to hit the end call button. Seems like way too long. On my EVO 3D it takes less then 1 second for the screen to wake up. Is a 2 second lag time for the screen to wake up normal?
3. The camera is set up to take full Rez pictures, but when she sends me one in a text message, it is really small on my EVO 3D screen. I realize that the text messenger may not be able to handle a full rez 8MP picture, but why doesn't it down rez it to a size that still fills my EVO 3D screen?
4. Will Sprint and Google allow app purchases in the market to be billed to her Sprint account instead of adding a credit card to her Google account?
Sorry if these are newb questions - I tried searching but could not find anything. I suck at searching I guess.

I believe there is an option to bill to the account once you go and purchase an app.
I would do a master reset on her phone to see if that fixes the proximity sensor delay.
I believe my phone didnt come with an SD card. I bought a Class 4 16GB from Radioshack for $20.

Well. I can tell you for a fact that you can't bill your account with sprint anymore. I was able to for the first week I had my phone but then one day I couldn't and called them. They said they were ending that ability.
Mine didn't come with an SD card. I don't think they do.

1. Does not come with one! Has 16gb storage.
2. Did you put a sd Card in her phone? This is usually the case if a sd card has been inserted it takes a little while longer to wake the phone up. This is normal
3. This is due to the stock mms compressing pics to make the file size smaller. Get an app like handcent from the market.
4. sprint stopped all in app billing. Must use a credit card.

YOU most certainly cant still bill to your account, if your on a corporate discounted account. I do not mean an account that the company pays for (they might but mine does not) basically it is a 20% discount unlimited corporate family yada yada yada for multiple lines. Maybe your credit needs to be good?

I purchased one of the 32 gb memory card from verizon and everything worked fine up until yesterday wben it fried, all data gone, card unreadable, all rom's, back-up, pictures, you get the idea. I am writing this to as a suggestion to have people every so often to back up there sd card data to either there laptop or desk top so the wont be out all the information and say the $100 bucks they paid for the card.

You should have a warrenty on the item up to a year and for future purchases i recommend amazon itll save you some money but dont you still have your old 8 gig with your stuff

I do but I actually had been using it to store other information on. I ended up copying my wifes card from her evo, all her files so that I would have alot of the data that I lost such as my file folders, and some photo's and video's that we had the same ones of, Her phone is set up similiarly to mine but not exact. I hope I can return it to verizon and get a replacement I miss the extra capacity, I had over 50 full lenght video's plus all my nandroid backup's and photo's that i have been passing from one phone to the next ever since cellphone started allowing for such things. I am now going to have to see if I have the photo or at least some of them on any of our computers.
The good news is I thinks scandisk has a life time warranty if verizon doesnt make good with me.

I'm in the Dominican Republic.. 2nd to last day of a 2 week vacation and someone takes it when I wasn't looking off a table at a restaurant! I almost transferred photos the previous night too! Anyway just had to let some people know that can truly feel my pain. Anyone know Asurion's deductible on this phone? I can't do anything with my Sprint account or Asurion till I get back in the states cuz I cant figure my pin or my "first car" security question and I think Sprint site it blocked from loggin in this country..
I was at work and had my phone charging next to demo phones bc we were slow. Next thing I know it was gone. I immediately went to the door and locked it and called my number hoping I would catch someone in the act and lay it on them...it started ringing next to a couple that was with my manager. Seeing the look in my eye he immediately said that he took it off the charger so no one took it. I think the red on my face gave it away that I was going to get it and get fired by my actions or it was going to get handed back to me. Luckily I have phone nerds watching my back when I get busy lol.

Sorry to hear your phone got stolen (especially with your awesome pictures). The deduction for a new phone will be $100 thru the TEP. You can do it online, as long as you order before 11pm, you should have your phone the next day, unless its on backorder.

Install Plan B from the android market, it's free (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb)
If your phone is still on, it'll download itself to your phone and send you an email about its location. You can also text your phone a keyword (I think it's 'locate', the exact word is on the android marketplace) and it'll give you an updated location. It might not work, but it's worth a try.
^ There's a good idea. And in the future you should really have something like Androidlost on it so you can track and wipe it remotely.
I kinda want mine to be stolen. I have mine set that whenever it boots another number I have gets a text with its network location and gps location. I can also text it a word and it will respond with the location. I have not yet figured out how to wipe the device with a modded rom so if they remove the sd card they have access to all of my pics and info, but I'll know where they are and I have another action text word to take a pic and send to me so I'll see who they are too.
OP that blows I'm sorry. When I got this phone I had a nightmare that a idiot took my phone and accudentally bricked it. I was pissed! Lol

yes and no, does that make any sense? lol. My phone is a part of me so that would suck, but because it is a part of me I have set up ways to track it if lost. Sure I could give my phone to a friend to test, but my friends are like me and I might get one location before they wiped it. I would like to know how effective my precautions and protections are against a real world situation.

I tried to claim through asurion but my pin is wrong as well as my 'first car" question.. would be nice because I get home Friday.. would be nice if there was new one waiting. Does anyone know what the default "pin" could be .. like date of birth .. or something else? I tried date of birth but didn't work unless it's a different format.
i think the default pin is 123456. i could be wrong though...
i just know that when i got my evo, i never picked a pin and that's what i had when i finally remembered to change it.

You can never be too cautious. About 10 years ago, I went to Mexico with my school (senior year Spanish class trip), and we were getting ready to leave from a hotel. We were sitting on a bench, 3 guys, and I went to help people get the bags in the bus. Told the guys to watch the bag, but a few seconds later I saw them next to me. So I ran to the bench, and it was gone. Had a brand new digital camera (3mpx back then), my CD player with all my CDs, etc. It just messed the entire trip. It was bad.
I'd like to say that when you're out of your comfort area you can never be too cautious...but...you can NEVER be too cautious no matter where you are. I didn't get anything, but I surely tried looking everywhere to see if I could find somebody with my bag, or the camera, etc.
The thing with the phone, is that nowadays, the phone is your digital camera, your CD player, your facebook portal, has your email, documents... This summer, my wife left her phone at McDonalds. We were on a 1000-mile trip, so this was just one stop in the middle of nowhere. Right away I asked her to check for her phone. She thought I had it, I thought she got it...Had to turn around in the highway (one of those "only emergency vehicles" turns) and went back to McD. Of course she was freaking out. Her facebook, the phone was unprotected, had access to all her mail, her contacts, etc, etc. I went there, looked for it, called it, nothing. Looked like if someone was hanging up when I called. I asked the manager at McD and I guess somebody cleaning found it and brought it to the back.
I was of the lucky ones.
Follow these guys' advice: protect your phone, because you don't know when sh$t will happen. It could be you, your girlfriend, wife, daughter, son, husband...somehow, somewhere, chances are a phone may go missing. So protect it while you can.

My wife has a totally stock, non-rooted AT&T Note 2 and she's having some weird photo issues. Several of the photos that she's taken only partially display in the gallery. Funny thing is, that when they first load, it seems to show the complete for a split second and then part of the image is replaced by some solid color or artifacts. I'm including an attachment here to show an example with a photo of her phone that I took with my Note 2...
Anyone else seen a similar phenomenon? Should I take it to AT&T or send it into Samsung for service, or is there a solution somewhere? For what it's worth...I tried to clear the data and the cache already for the Gallery app, but it made no impact to the situation at all...

I have this problem as well. I'm on Rogers and bought it very close to launch as well. I just came back from a trip and took lots of pics, none of them had the issue. THe ones I had issues were pics from halloween.
I'd be interested to see how this could be resolved (I might flash a custom ROM).
Well, we went to a nearby device support center and they said the Note 2 was too new for them to service the device yet.
Anyway, they directed us to contact AT&T support via phone. It's late tonight, but that's what we plan to do tomorrow.
I've had 3 dealings with at&t customer service and the've all been positive. I trust them over samsung.

You know, funny enough, I really haven't tried them on a PC, but she's emailed a few to me and they were still messed up looking at them on my note 2.
Called the AT&T support line today and they just had her factory reset the phone (after asking all the requisite damage questions of course). We'll see if it happens again...
Make sure to back up because you may wipe important files. If it is a software bug then this will work. Odin the stock file if you want to ensure this. It will wipe all. But is a normal procedure and wont increase flash count or anything.

I have this same problem but only when I have my pics set to save to sd card. Strangely i also had the same problem on my Galaxy S3. Also downloaded pics from internet that are saved to sd card do the same thing. Not sure why.
You know, I started suspecting the SD Card tonight as well. I think I'm going to back up her card and reformat it. Maybe that'll help.
never go to an at and t store for service issues with your phone. They will just piss your time away and frustrate you to no end. They will make you call the friggen warranty department and wait a minimum of two business days to get a refurbished phone or if you are lucky a new phone. If they ship out your phone on Thursday or Friday then you will be waiting until Monday-Tuesday for a new phone. This might not be a big deal for something like a picture problem, but if you had a dead phone you are pretty much f u c k e d.
You might get lucky and be close to one of their warranty centers where an exchange can take place on the spot.
I have had my HTC One for 25 days now. I am not rooted and completely stock.. I was listening to Pandora at work with phone plugged into my work laptop. My phone reset itself and wouldn't go past the Verizon splash screen. Not wanting to lose my photos of my kids, I took the phone to a Verizon store and had them check it out.. they attempted a fast boot and asking them phones recovery which led to being stuck at the Verizon splash screen. Finally the tech factory reset my phone losing all of my photos and the phone made it to the lock screen only to reset when unlocking the lock screen and then freezing again at the Verizon logo on the splash screen. My phone also won't power off. It has been stuck on on the splash screen the past 5 hours. Verizon said there was nothing they could do in store.. anyone have any ideas on getting the pone back to normal? I've had zero problems prior to this and loved my phone thanks

They really sent you out of the store with a non-functioning phone? What the hell are you supposed to do? Call HTC?
Not that it helps you now, but create a Dropbox account or allow the auto-upload to Google. I don't want to risk being in a similar situation so I have my photos auto-upload when I'm on Wi-Fi to minimize the chance of something like that happening. Sorry man. I wish I had something to offer that might help.

Normally I have dropbox setup to auto save my photos, but I hadn't set it up on my HTC yet. The guys at Verizon kept trying to reset the phone, and finally, they were ready to have a phone sent to me tomorrow, but yeah I'm without a phone until tomorrow afternoon.. They said that the store doesn't handle replacement devices, and that a replacement has to be ordered. I decided to wait and go home and use my wife's S4 to call Verizon and HTC and see if there was any other way to get the photos off the phone, but unfortunately, no one at either tech support could figure out the issue with my phone and the Verizon rep at tech support says that since these phones are mass produced, sometimes things like this happen. I guess the point of my thread was to alert people of the importance of backing up your photos with this phone, and any other information of importance. Also, I'm excited to get my HTC one back tomorrow, the Verizon rep on the phone was also very nice and tried to request a brand new phone instead of a refurbished unit, but was unable to do so. He said that likely, due to the newness of the phone, that the phone may be brand new anyway. I guess I will find out after work tomorrow. Hopefully I get a nice new One tomorrow, and the first thing I will be doing is turning on the auto-upload feature and the Dropbox sync.
That stinks, sorry to hear that happened. Let us know how it turns out, and whether you got a refurb or not.
That's definitely a con to this phone. In some situations, a battery pull can relieve problems sometimes.
Got a refurbished HTC one from Verizon disappointed its not new. Slight gap near the power button but nothing too bad seems to be working great so far.

damn I was hoping we'd get refurb phones from HTC, I don't think I want Verizon taking apart this phone personally.
Idk as long as it's put back as well as the first, no complaints here.
I'd jsut send it back until one came that is perfect.
I've sent back I think it was 4-5 htc rezounds refubs before I got a good one.

just hold power for ten seconds.. or power and volume down.
easier than a battery pull, IMHO.

So i recently forced mu htc to get stuck at verizon with xposed module.
And got a working solution, as the phone gets stuck just run:
1. adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.DELETE -d package:com.package name
2. adb shell pm uninstall -k com.package name
witch the package would be the latest apk you have installed it, it will give you errors cant not find or access.
just let is go on and then it goes ON worked for me.
Hope it works fir the next guy with the same problem.
Xposed puts a flashable disabler zip on your sdcard (Exposed_Disabler_Recovery.zip). All you have to do is boot into recovery and flash it. That will dissable the exposed framework, and all related apps.
So I have had my Note 4 for roughly two months.
The day I received the phone, I went to walmart to get a really crappy screen protector just until I could get through the days of me not ordering one. I didn't even touch the screen until I had it on. (I am weird like that).
The device had some touch lag issues that I chalked up to walmart quality ( Get what you pay for ). I thought nothing else of it. Over the past two weeks it has gotten worse. Symptoms included: phantom touches. Like pulling down the notification bar would always open my weather widget. Then moved the widget to another screen. It would open the app below. The notification bar would operate hesitantly but still pull down. Then the widget would pop up over it (or whatever app at the time). When inside any apps or with a browser open, it would always constantly click links/whatever. For example: Chrome browser would open about 20 tabs. So I would kill the running tasks ( It would take a minute because everything was lagged down by crazy ghost phone ) then it would work until I opened a browser again. Other miscellaneous lag issues with the touch screen as well. Nothing major on the swiping lag. I figured it was part of the 4.4.4 update
So I finally get a nice shiny decent protector. When I take off the crap one, I decided to test the screen. So I clean the screen and take off the case. (I don't know, I just always take off the case when I am about to put on protectors)
Exact same issues before and after the screen protector removal. I then proceeded to do a factory reset. Still same issue. I clean the app cache, still the same issue. toggled the touch screen sensitivity to the ultra sensitive and same issues. Switched it back, same issues. I tried using Nova launcher instead of the TW.
I contact AT&T support via phone at this point. Very nice lady, she apologizes and says her display recommends what I have already done and maybe an ATT authorized store would help. So I figure, why not, eye exam is a year or two behind and at&t is right next to the place.
Go to the AT&T store ( Authorized dealer ). Walk in, a real douchebag individual finally talks to me after I approach him ( And I joke you not, first time ever I saw that store have no customers. All the employees are playing angry crush or candy birds on their tablets/phones ) I explain the issues and what I tried. He did not look at my phone/pull up my account/or anything. He simply said " You will have to call at&t " and he writes down the number. All this after I told him I had recently done that.
So anyways, by the time I got home it was late so I did one of those tech chats. He explains I have done everything right and he will process an exchange. Very nice guy, I was irritated at this point to a certain degree and he dealt with me professionally and calmed me down. I apologized 28 times ish. lol. He did ship me a free microcell tower as well.
I have not seen this issue posted. So just be aware of a possible issue like this.

Dont ever, ever, evereverevereverevereverever go to an "authorized reseller." They are sales only, generally wont help you, and certainly CANT do any actual warranty service. You can go to an ATT corp store, and they will likely be nicer, but they will also refer you to the warranty hotline OR a service store if your town has one.

You need to go to a corporate store, not a reseller.
The number I posted earlier is our warrenty hotline, if you have had your phone for more than 14 days don't go to a store at all, typically it's outside the return period and they won't help, most people I work with have no clue about things like this and just assume you broke it, 80% of the time that's true, so save yourself some time just call the number I posted earlier
My phone works great..never an issue it is perfect!!! OMGWTF ATT never had such a great phone.....seriously. it is perfect..but with every single item u ever buy there is a chance you got a bad one..blame att? Think not..they didn't make it.
