There was a thread for the ICS MIUI v4 in the Dev section, What happened to it?
Check out the original miui thread in the dev section. Swiperat has been listing some ics miui alphas in there.
Don't forget to hit the thanx button

What happened is that when the OP wrote that he thanks the devs that created the ROM, apparently it wasn't enough for some whiny crybabaies that don't understand the concept of open source and didn't have their ego's stroked enough, so they threw little-girl tantrums and got it taken down.
Too bad. I grabbed and flashed. Not a huge fan of miui, but this is the good.

It's too bad, it ran pretty stable for me. Think ill go over to the ns4g section and remove my thanks I left.
I guess I understand where they where coming from, I mean how hard is it to pm some one and ask for permission first, but damn. Atleast he linked to their thread.

Pwermission?? That's like asking God's permission to share water.
The OP posted that it wasn't his and said "thanks to the great devs that put this together" with a link to the original thread.
It's stupid.
Anyone that supports this should be on a list of opponents to Open Source
you hit the nail on the head hipkat. kind of sounds like an apple or microsoft fit huh. I could understand if he was posting it as his work.

I completely agree with you about having to ask permission for porting a rom. One of the lasts posts in the thread was from one of the devs who had made the original rom for the ns4g.
He mentioned asking permission as a matter of curteousy. He even said that he would have told him to go ahead. Pretty ****ed up if after saying that they went and had the thread closed.

Exactly!!!! Maybe he should have just named names so the original Devs could flaunt to the world that they got credit for something....
Maybe you guys should search Google for "frankinrom," then you'll find a great miui pics beta. Don't forget to thank.

A mod has had to delete a thread for maintainance and explicitly tell people not to post off topic only to have the same thing just continue one thread over in the racing build thread unless that is really 13 pages of useful information. Instead of telling to people to stay on topic and continue the trend I made this post.
Could everyone keep the dev threads to dev posts. If you have a bug make a logcat. If you want to say thanks start a single thanks thread in general, I am not sure if thats kosher but at least if the mods have a problem with such thanks thread they can just delete it without having to go through and look for actually useful posts.

Bro, I have no idea what you said but I think I agree
we had to clean up a lot of useless comments in that topic which were nothing related to development at all
please keep all chatters in General
feel free to open a new topic for the specific ROM in question
but do not CLUTTER the Development topic with comments that provides no value in the development.
I feel for you guys, You post that people not to go off topic then people posting like you didnt just tell them not to go off topic.
The people even reading this post are the people who probably don't need to be told. It Sucks because the annoying posters are ruining it for those following the rules. The most I type in a dev thread is f5 sigh.

Wait, what? How does that logic work?
It is easier for us to to go through and report each post so that a moderator is forced to look over each one and decide if it should be deleted or not than it would for people to act responsible for their own crap and just not post worthless stuff in a dev thread?
Sure it might be easier for me to just report each post instead of trying to educate anyone, but now because one person is doing whatever they please I have to report them AND a moderator has to take the time to go and delete it.

Well, now the thread is closed. Those who made it happen by posting useless crap will probably not learn anything from it either. Sigh.
I have a quick question in regards to that RaverX thread that just closed:
For those of us that DO want to follow the rules and prefer to follow the progress of the ROM, where do we go from here? I know the ROM is on sourceforge, so I can at least see if there are updates.
Should this have just been a PM, or are there others that share this curiosity?
ICS is awesome, but a lot of n00bs I have never seen post a single comment around here started posting out of nowhere lol.
I'm going to do something productive rather than be annoyed by these n00bs. I suggest you guys do the same.

So I finally posted in the Q&A section last night because I messed up my SystemUI.apk while trying to theme it...
I asked a simple question asking if anyone could post the stock apk from the latest leak... and never got a response yet.
I no longer need it because I have flashed CM9 since it was what I had on my SD when I flashed today.
I now know why there are so many users that post questions in the general section of the forum. This is the most disappointing part of this community other than the people who like stirring up arguments in the community.
If there is anyone else who has had a similar experience or that thinks that this forum lacks in helpful information, post here to explain your story and how you feel the community should change.

I understand completely what you are saying. I used to live in the Q&A section to try to help because there's not a lot of people that DO put in the effort and go out their way. I didn't get my "thanks" from being a mod, believe me, lol. I try to be laid back for that reason in the general section, but I can only allow so many questions before it gets overwhelming. I have seen a handful of members in this section that will see people through to get the help the asking members need. And I love that. Sometimes you have to give it a little more time, or a shameless bump is in order.

Did you flash agats ics theme over the stock fe22? If thats the case he labeled them wrong and you have to flash deodexed instead of odexed theme. It was mentioned in the fe22 thread, happened to a few of us but you would really have to read everything to find it.
I look at q&a sometimes but I learned most of the stuff here from reading and most of the questions there are because people are too lazy to read. I typically just provide a link to a thread if I do answer any questions. Yours is valid though I flashed and downloaded the rom and that stupid theme 3 times thinking i had a bad flash checking md5 and stuff.

Thats pretty demanding, seeing that you are asking for free help. You should wait longer, and if you cant, thats why its always suggested to NAND backup your stuff.
You must realize that we all have lives outside of this forum, I too try to help out as often as I can with what little knowledge I have. Its the only way I can give back but I also work full-time and go to college full-time. So there are a few days where I can't find the time to post or help out. I'm not by any means saying that this is the case for everyone here, just simply giving you an example that may or may not be the case for some of us here.
I can almost promise you, however, if you give it enough time, someone WILL come to your aid.
I just hope you realize this and don't think any less of these people here. They really do put a lot of time and effort into helping and developing for all of us in hopes of getting nothing more than a simple "thanks".
I also hope that your next experience is nothing like the previous one.

I agree with the backup idea, but I'm not touching the backup restore functions on an ICS kernel until it has been fully tested and determined to be safe to use.
I thought I had backups of the SystemUI on my SD card but they were for earlier builds and would not work. I realize that everyone has their own life outside of XDA. That is why when I saw that my question didn't even have one reply when several other questions had new comments, I decided to just flash a new ROM.
The reason I have started this thread is because I am not the first user to be ignored when asking a simple question to ask if someone could help with such a simple issue.

In theory, yea. But a lot of those answers you "searched" for are found in the Q&A section.
---Jay--- From the CM9 powered E4GT
I admit I don't frequent Q&A as much as I do General and Development, but if I see something I feel that I can answer then I always try to contribute. If it's something completely out of my league but I know someone who might know the answer then I will, occasionally, post that information.
While I understand OP's need for a quick resolution (although most questions in Q&A need the same) I agree with those who have advocated allowing a little more time for people to respond.
I know it can be frustrating (and intimidating) to be stuck on a problem with no answer but again, as stated in the posts above, sometimes people who can help simply aren't online at the time the problem is posted. Though I'm here a lot during the day (from work, shhhh) in the evenings my time is a bit more sporadic and I've come back to the computer with PMs from people who asked me something but thought I was ignoring them, that bothers me because I would never willingly ignore someone.
So I think Q&A definitely has its uses and maybe this post should be our tap on the shoulder to peruse it more often and see if there is something we can help answer.
To the OP.
Why didn't you just download one of the stock roms in the roms section and extract your own?

When most roms here are 1 click executable files its not so easy to extract the apk...
And with most of the roms that are zipped, they are already themed...
I have resolved my own issue by flashing a new rom, that was not the point of this thread... the point I wanted to bring up with this thread is that it is apparent that 95% of the users here only frequent General and Development. If more users just checked Q&A once and a while to see if there is anyone needing help with something that they have already experienced, they could easily reply with what they did to resolve the issue.
Let's all stop pointing the blame and help to better the community... we all can help in one way or another.

Wait it looks like all his threads have been closed WTF?
Looks like he wasn't uploading his kernal sources even after being asked/warned by the mods and therefore was not complying with GPL. Too bad he was one of our best devs. Wish there was some way to learn how to dev for vivow, I can't get anything to build grr

Rootz Wiki requires people comply with GPL just the same, so I doubt going there to avoid it will do much good.

There is an explanation from the mods... The very last post in the thread... "Failure to comply with GPL requirements" .... There has to be a link to kernel source in the op. Quite honestly though, the mods don't have to explain themselves or justify their actions to anyone. They are here to enforce the rules, not explain them over and over when these rules are posted everywhere you turn.

So, this new moderator (Papa Smurf151) which came from nowhere who likes to close threads both in development & general section...should have read his inbox actually when he messaged me & I replied him back on the very same day!
So, what I understand now is that he closes threads in Development section in the name of "GPL Compliance" which I agree too...but why are those threads being closed (by Papa Smurf151 particularly) which asks why are most of the threads being closed.?? I mean are they closed for the DMWM (Don't Mess With the Moderators) compliance!!!!!
& shouldn't you check your Inbox before closing someone's thread....or atleast reply to him about what shall be done!!!

They didn't come from nowhere. I would say its possible he didn't receive your pm? I know things like that have happened before and when I was pm'd I fixed my op that I missed things in and pm'd him back and he responded right away.

^^just a couple references where they came from.
If you want your thread re-opened, simply put a link to the source your kernel uses (aeroevans git if you're using his kernel, for example) .. then pm the mod stating your thread is updated, include a link to your thread in your pm so he can easily verify it and the thread will be unlocked.

Cmon man, aren't you reading what CS has said? Just a link to source. If they include it to start with it would not be an issue. And if they forgot, it isn't so big a deal when you consider the work that goes into making a ROM work. If they are willing to spend hours of work and time reading and responding and fixing bugs, do you really think a few minutes to update their op and pm a moderator is such a big task?
Sent from my Incredibly Indecisive Dinc2
If the Dinc2 is not their DD and they were just doing it out of the kindness of their hearts (supporting a 2 year old device) then yes I could see that as being too much of a hassle.
Most of those threads were open for months without any trouble then all of the sudden the mods decided to crack down on an old obscure device because of GPL.
Also I believe GPL just requires source to be available and anyone smart enough to root and flash their device can find Aeroevan's source code.
sent from vivow using XDAP
If they were taking the time to still support the rom then I don't think it would be much trouble. They all do it out of the kindness or their heart as you put it. They don't get paid. They just enjoy it. If its an issue fine. But if they still enjoy deving this phone this won't stop them. CS is a developer as well as chilly, and they both did what needed to be done.

Probally will get royally flamed for bthis or have it removed, But for those like me that have to have wifi calling on our phones, is it possible for someone to make a thread with a list of ROMs with this feature. i would, but since I'm relatively new to this scene, and don'tknow any of thedevs, i wouldn't be able to get there permissions. I would make it myself if they would allow.
You can post info like this about roms, just don't post links except ones that are to the rom thread.
Unless you want something old, all roms that are built using the latest T-Mobile build, UVDMD5, will most likely have wifi calling. Just look for that build in the op and if you don't see it, move along to the next. If you want to cross reference an older rom to see if its a T-Mobile base, just compare to the build number in my firmware thread.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
So I can configure a list as long as I only list links to threads. I thought even that it was considered wrong to do without consulting the dev. Just dont want to step on toes. And if was to compile the list myself, would I put it in development section or general information section.

So I can configure a list as long as I only list links to threads. I thought even that it was considered wrong to do without consulting the dev. Just dont want to step on toes. And if was to compile the list myself, would I put it in development section or general information section.

Yup. Perfectly fine to do that. You just dont want to post links to their actual roms w/o permission. Some devs like to keep an eye on download counts and stuff like that. This way they know where everyone gets the download link from. Honestly though, most probably wouldnt even care about that, but still its best to ask for anything else.
Id say this would go in the General Section.
If it is just going to contain info about the ROMs, you should post it in General. If you end up including anything like a FAQ or Q&A, then it could go in the Q&A section.
Never start a thread in the development sections unless you have something to release such as a rom or mod. (or at least the plan to release and are actively developing a WIP (Work In Progress)).
Never post questions or general info guides and such there. If deemed it needs to go there in the future, it can always be moved.

In general section. Linked in sticky roll up. Rom Bible. You can also use the link in mt3g's sig if youre on a computer. You can't see it from the app.

It probably needs to be updated, I might do that today before work, if the time arises. But it shouldn't be too difficult to find them.
