So I have a quotation and I how someone here can answer it. I read along somewhere (I don't remember where exactly) that the tethering apps no longer work. I just recently rooted a phone and I have yet to hear if it is working anymore.. I got the newest wifi tether app off the 3D forums but I'm just wondering if it still works? Mine is working just fine but idk if anyone else who has recently rooted their device if experiencing any issues with ANY app for tethering.. Any info is appreciated

Been rooted since 'nam, and tethering works as it always has.
it still works if you have it on your phone or can get it. They took it off the market or should I say Sprint blocked it on the market. I have it and mine works fine.
if you have a rooted phone and you have a copy of a tethering app then why not just see if it works instead of posting a new thread? There's nothing more satisfying than doing the research yourself.....

I have the app, I have tested it, I have root and I can confirm its working on my end. The app I meant, I guess I should have been a little clearer. My apologies oh great troller, the app that is on the 3D forums, is it working for anyone else? I can't get it to work for a few EVOs that I've tried running it on.

Try using the barnacle app. For tether. Its very easy and it has never *sucked up.tether has given me problems in the past, but if you want it you should be able to find it on 4shared. Hope that helps

I've heard about Sprint blocking stuffs on the market. Also heard that much of the blocking is done thru the Sprint Market application. Is that true? Sorry for this question being slightly off-topic. I DID noticed that much of the applications for tethering (both wifi and usb) has been suddenly flagged as being not compatible or just don't even show up anymore in the market app. Which is interesting as I have a tethering app for my e4g that works nicely on my e4g, but is now flagged as incompatible on the market app for the e4g! I haven't downloaded the latest version to confirm whether it's still compatible or not because I'm pretty much happy with what I have now (even tho the nag reminder can get slightly annoying). Plus I don't wanna go thru the trouble of trying out of fear of bleeping up the working setup i now have. Especially when I'm about to add Clear 4g to my phone and will need the e4g's 8-device connectivity capabilities. In effect, my e4g will be my answer to Clear's iSpot that also can connect up to 8 simultaneous devices too.
Btw, for your information, the tethering app I'm using is an older version of Easytether Lite for usb and WiFi Tether for Root for the wifi side.
I am using cynogenmod 7 on my HTC evolution and it does not have a market. When I donwnliad a apk file it say something about sighning in then I press yes and It does nothing. It did not ask me to do the setup thing when I first flash it. Please helping

Where can I find the gapps I never done that before when I flash it before. Its would ask for Gmail info then start putting everything I need to run cynogenmod.
At the risk of being the total ass on this thread (don't bother to ask me if I care),
did you read the Cyanogen EVO 4G Full Update Guide or any of the how-tos here on XDA before jumping in to CM7?
Everything is there, if you take the time to look and read.
Luvin it
Cant wait for CM9! Quick question, is there a fix for the GPS for the Evo? I turn mine on, and it takes FOREVER to find my location. I've looked for a fix, and tried a few GPS apps. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue, or had a fix. Thanks for your time guys!

Flash a Sense ROM and do the GPS update and you'll be fine. Been running CM7 for a long time now and love it. No GPS issues after the update.
Sweet.
Thanks fellas, I'll give that a try!
Hey guys,
I am enjoying my Sprint variant Galaxy S3 a lot, but after rooting and installing the wifi tether/hotspot app, it works great, but I am having some issues and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue or if someone knew how to resolve this issue.
The issue:
While everything works just fine for a while (I am posting this thread using wifi tether) often times I see the wifi connection has dropped on my laptop and when I check my phone the wifi tether app is no longer running. I have to restart the app and everything is fine. This is getting pretty annoying as it happens very randomly! I haven't had this issue on my Epic 4g Touch at all and was just curious if maybe there was something I was missing or if perhaps others were experiencing this as well. I drop time varies a lot...sometimes I can use the connection undisturbed for 1+ hours, but other times the app closes after 10 minutes and requires a restart...its just more of an annoyance than anything as the program does work every time its restarted, but It would be nice if I could get a solid/stable connection going despite the lackluster 3g speeds.
If anyone knows a fix or could help me out, this would be much appreciated! I did a search and couldn't find any open posts about this :[
Thanks!

Edit:
Hmm... Ok It disconnects about every 15 minutes or so... I tried changing the profiles to multiple different ones (Nexus CDMA, Galaxy S2, Generic ICS) All with the same result...it disconnects and I have to click the white wifi button to restart the tethering. :/ Happened on stock rooted and I just did a full wipe and installed the Blazer ROM and seems to be the same. Thanks again if anyone has any kind of input.

Hey man...it seems like it holds on to the signal longer and when I uncheck it, it dims the screen but it doesn't fully shut off...it seems to like that and keep the connection. When I manually turn the screen off it will disconnect me again. I hope its not my phone! Its definitely better than before!
Well unfortunately, I always have my phone plugged in when running the app so the screen being on isn't a problem for me.. there are some apps out there ( i can't seem to remember the names right now ) that will try to prevent the app from being killed by android's task manager, i'd look into them... good luck
I am running MADDOGGIN(ROM)-UPDATED(1/4/2013) on my Nexus. The GPS will not lock. I applied a fix for it and it still did'nt work. Does anyone know why?
I am also looking for a 2-Way call recorder for personal use. Yes I know the precautions of call recording. I need one though, please.
Really? Noone knows?

For gps first turn off location access then force stop maps and clear data. Reboot then enable location access then open up maps. Usually works for me, not sure if all those steps will work for you but worth a try.

I've always had this problem ever since JB release. Only thing that gets my gps is to work is the GPS Tool app.
I'm running 5.0.1 BOG5.
On my old Note 4 (can't remember the version details) I was able to run FoxFi no problem.
However, on my new one, I can't set up the VPN.
I click on the Activate Hotspot and I get the "Allow Connection" message.
It has a cancel and an OK option but the OK button doesn't do anything.
Anybody know what's going on?
thanks in advance,
Matt

Nope
Should I?
No you shouldn't
I'm still looking for some assistance here.
Foxfi answered my question...there was something causing an overlay ... it was lux....a screen dimming app. Once I disabled that app I was able to set up foxfi.
Yeah!
Frickin Lux doesn't work properly, but it causes all kinds of problems.

I was having the same issue but couldn't find any answer to it. I sent an email to foxfi and I got a reply with a link to their FAQs. It didn't help, then I found your post and tried uninstalling some dim screen app I had... AND IT WORKED. That's bizarre IMO. I was wondering how you got a hold of their support.
Anyways, thanks for sharing. This is what the community should be all about, sharing and even if you got the answer somewhere else, you come back and post it for others to see. Thank you again.
:good:
Thank you, that was pissing me off. lol
Hi guys!
