Here are a couple of videos I recored using the timelapse function of the Galaxy Nexus! Please note that no mount was used in either video! This was just to test the function itself. With practice I'm certain we can get some amazing footage recorded with this!
anyways here are the videos! Please enjoy! (please watch in 1080p)

I don't understand you said you had problems with the camera and you couldn't post because you didn't have time to but yet you post these two videos, I can't see them so well on my netbook but what camera was you using on these two videos ? sure looks like the back camera to me !, Like I said I can't see them on this computer, So your 2 post are confusing to me

couldn't post any pics of the issue as I never had time to take said pics of the issue before returning the device. (these videos were taken before I noticed the issue - sorry for the confusion)
the camera issue is in regards to the lens not being centered - the sensor in which case has a bigger chance of not letting in equal amounts of light.
this post is basically 2 videos I shot with the Galaxy Nexus to show its time-lapse functionality.
the rear camera on my device however was not as it should have been - hence I returned it and will try my luck again in a few days.

thanks yo! the video was shot from an apartment window (14 floors up) without a mount! i basically just balanced the device infront of a cup (kinda stupid really come to think of it)
the music was the nearest time match i could find on youtube audioswap
its a very cool feature!
For the 1:20 long video you made, how long did it take? And did it use a lot of battery or did you have it plugged in?

yes i had the device plugged into a laptop via usb for that video
was shot at 2.5 setting not sure how long for though.. still not bad at all for a smartphone right? lol..

Great Videos!!!! Well done. What program did you use to add the music over them?
Also, let me know if your replacement had lens in perfect centre. Mine is off slightly too, but not enough to think of returning it. It's only a phone camera after all. I read one guy went back to change it and all 8 replacements they opened for him had the lens slightly off centre. Might be the entire first run?
I got to try out the time lapse feature last night... shot a little video... it's a cool feature, although I think the camera is not as good as the SGS2

I don't have a Galaxy Nexus but I want to know approx how long would you be able to take time-lapse photos with Galaxy Nexus with a fully charged battery?
i.e. Information I am interested are
1) From fully charged to completely flat battery, how many hours and minutes did the Galaxy Nexus last taking time-lapse photography?
2) What is the time interval it is configured to shoot
3) If there is a photos count, the total number of photos taken would be useful too
I assume the Galaxy Nexus is shooting photos with LCD screen off, GPS off, with an active SIM card inside (i.e. not in airplane) mode and WIFI on/off. Would be useful if you can specify exactly what conditions is your Galaxy Nexus configured at during the time-lapse photography.
FYI, I am running a series of tests on a HTC G1 taking time lapse photography and the data I obtained shows that time-lapse photography shows it is almost impossible to take time-lapse photography without plugging it into a power supply... If you can share the information I asked above, I tell you more about my findings or where you can see it. (I am currently running more tests to figure out how to take photos over weeks and months outdoors without a power point......)

my replacement is perfect! not a single issue with it at all! the phone is so impressive it has sold itself to a few of my friends who have also purchased the phone!

Those vids are money bro! You got me wanting to try this feature out now. I must say, I think I will invest in a gorilla pod to film time-lapse instead of... leaning it against a cup... on a railing.... 14 stories high.
Be careful man, your next post might be a time-lapse drop test
Neat thanks for posting...cant wait to try something like that but im always on the damn thing so a time lapse would render me without a gadget for that time period.
Does anyone else's evo make a clicking sound when it's booting up? I'm on a replacement my first, one didn't do it, it's weird.
Sent from my EVO 4G using Tapatalk
No if its clicking something isn't right the evos don't have a disk drive so its not the reader clicking on boot but could be a loose processor or ribbon cable that's catching on something there aren't too many moving parts that could actually make a clicking noise unless the housing/screen/digitizer is loose, does it have any light leakage around the digitizer/housing
We are legion, for we are many.
At the bottom of my screen below my buttons there's light coming through under each of the buttons..is that normal?

The camera sensors in the evo doesn't have a physical shutter to make any noise if its the photo cell something is wrong there are 0 moving parts in a phones photo sensor unless it has a really high end sensor inside which unfortunately the evo does not since it's 8mp photos look like the 3mp photos in my 8mp Kodak camera, everything in the evos photo sensor is done thru digital rendering unlike a true photo lens which uses the shutter speed to control the amount of light the digital sensor picks up maintaining color and clarity in different lighting situations
We are legion, for we are many.
I didn't mention a shutter, I said focuser. Point it at a distant object, then hold your hand in front of it while watching the camera, you can see it move. Mine makes the same noise when it changes that much.
Mine is totally silent and typically the focuser is attached to shutters my camera doesn't do **** physically it does it all digitally its just a sensor in the phone no actual lenses like a real camera that's y it takes crap pics compared to a real 8mp digital camera
We are legion, for we are many.
Typically the focuser is attached to shutters... Well, you're obviously an expert on digital cameras, sorry for contradicting you! Carry on, I'm sure you're correct
It may have some kind of focus wheel but that still shouldnt make much noise as the sensors for phone cameras don't have lots of moving parts like you typical digital camera photo sensor which has a focusing shutter and full 35mm camera lens ifront of the actual sensor which is why the camera pics from a cell phone at same MP look way worse than that on a camera ima tech nerd I like to research and take **** apart to see how it works and stuff lol I'm curious about that crap cuz I like to modify stuff

Mine has always done that when booting, sounds like the camera lens to me.
Supersonic Evo 4G | MIUI | Tapatalk
A brand new EVO does not make any noise when booting. However, if most phones are making the sound after some months or they are refurbished, the fact that the device was once opened may have something to do with it (wires not tucked in the right place, screws not tightened all the way, etc...) or maybe if the phone has been dropped. At this point, only thing is to take it back to a Sprint store. If they can't do anything about it and aren't willing to replace it, I would call CS and complain about it. After enough complaining, they give in.

Chose not use use an actual camera for once when I go to the show, lets you get in and out of cars easier and not having to worry about camera bags and stuff....the camera did ok I think, but took me a while to get use to using the phone camera...Did not do any processing and let the phone do all the work, disabled the flash....
I'm surprised. My Droid incredible took some decent pictures at the LA auto show, but the Aventador looks way better from your picture. Also, that car is just SEXY.

Those look pretty damn good.
Soooo my friend has the droid razor and we recently went to a EDM show where we were pretty close to the stage. His razor has a setting in the video menu that was "concert"... it seemed to have helped out on the recorded sound not being some muffled. Can anyone tell me if this phone has settings like that for video recording, would be greatly appreciated!
whoa, so the sound of loud music is bad on this phone in videos? i went to WMC Miami a few years ago and took all of these videos with the phone i had at the time, then when i got home i found out how bad the sound was and couldn't keep them. i was going to test mine when it came with my basement setup, but if you say it's bad then i can't bother with getting it.
EDIT: it doesn't matter. i will find out myself. i need something to use until something better comes out, so if i don't like it then i will sell it to someone on here in the marketplace.
Haha no I'm simply asking if someone can tell me if this phone has that "concert" style video setting. My Vivid takes amazing sounding videos at live shows, but this setting on the razor seemed to help. So I'm just wondering if the One might have a setting like this??

i found another thread about the video sound quality and everyone in it says all HTC phones have terrible video sound and there are never any fixes or options for it. i checked ocean/wind video on youtube and it makes a lot of scratchy sounds when the wind blows in the mic. it's June until the next phone i would want is out, so i'm jumping on this because i sold my GS II a month ago. i would look for something else or get a separate camera for videos of music if i were you and you don't want to lose money reselling it.
See my Vivid has taken some amazing videos with great sound in some venues... Some times not so much

It's probably the noise cancellation mic that is screwing your audio in noisy environments. No way to turn it off though /:
Try using a app like LGcamera, that seemed to help me a LITTLE when I went to see Rammstein
That's a shame if they didn't put any kind of settings or "scenes" for video recording.
This is a video taken on the razor and the speakers literally 15ft from me

Hey Guys,
As the Title says. I need tips for taking sphere photos.
I tried it a few times but it fail's... it looks stuttery and ugly. sometimes after rendering, there are "black holes" where pictures were before it has rendered.
So, what do you for good photo spheres and can you post a link to G+ for some examples of acceptable shots (don't uplad it here. It breaks the spher view)?
I will update this post after I get some tips
I had a few good ones I lost because I formatted everything on my phone. Anyways the best tips I can share that always got me good shots are;
-Good lighting!
-Complete the entire 360° sphere
-Keep the phone at a consistent level.
--for example, don't hold the phone chest level when shooting evenly, near your chin when shooting upwards & down by your belly when shooting downward. Keep it at an even level at all times and just aim it in the direction you need.
-Take your time. Keep your movements steady. Try not to get a "Too Fast" message through the entire sphere.
I did shoot some really good ones, too bad I didn't back them up. I'll try to capture a few in a few hours and post them here.
Keep the lens side as still as possible while pivoting the speaker side or tilting it. Greatly reduced tearing and improved stitching
Added a shot taken from my balcony. the left end has a little tear though

my suggestions,
go SLOW,
use the "back" arrow if you go too fast.
try to keep the horizon (if you can see it) level throughout.
if you are doing a partial photosphere, start at one end...DO NOT start in the middle.
dont take enclosed photospheres....vary rarely do indoor photospheres work well. outdoors with some distance between you and objects give the best results.
here are some links to a couple of mine on Google Plus.

Love your shots!
Never mind. I figured it out.
The primary thing to keep in mind is to keep the LENS as spatially stationary as possible. Rotating around the lens (vs rotating your body) will get you much better results. If you move the lens, you change the perspective and this will cause stitching errors (look up parallax error). The closer the subject is to the lens, the more pronounced the problem becomes. If you're shooting landscapes at a long distance, you don't have to worry nearly as much about it (although you should still try to maintain position as much as possible!) as you do if you're shooting something like an indoor scene.
Frankly, without a tripod and a special head to keep position, I don't think it's feasible to get a perfectly stitched full 360 -- you'd have to be underneath your phone to take the highest level shots accurately.

Thanks for the idea! I've been using a GPS mount as an improvised tripod when I take pictures with the GNex. Just need to figure out how to get it to rotate smoothly on all axes with the lens as the center. Maybe strap the mount onto a tripod?

If it helps, this is the general idea I've had in my head. Excuse my sad drawing capabilities.
Basically the bottom would mount to a tripod that rotates around the center point. There would then be an inner hinge connected to handle vertical rotation (clamped to the phone at the center of the lens).

you can do it by mobile chrome browser in desktop mode as well.
Move the phone with calm and stability. Try to keep the same "level", it greatly decreases the likelihood of distortions in the final result.
- Don't try indoors it wont work, objects are too close and the lighting varies a lot. Perhaps with a standard that keeps the lens at the exact same position but turns it around like the one described before?
- Keep the same level
- Make sure you move slow when a dot is approaching.
- Prevent any moving objects from being photographed
You can only upload to maps if you have taken atleast 360degrees worth of pictures. At least that's what I think. So if it's say only from left to right and not behind, you can't upload to maps.
Can anyone corroborate this?
If you want the best results, then you want the centre of your lens to be in the same position in space for each picture.
This means rotating your phone through the axis of the lens, which is at the top of the camera.
The further things are away, the less significant this becomes.

Affirm, have been trying for two days to do one with 180 degree rotation left to right and no maps option. Just tried a 360 degree one (and up and down too), and it gave me the option to upload to Maps and has gone straight through.
Not sure how long it takes to get to Google Maps though.
