HTC Super Tool: The Latest All-in-One for Your HTC Device
Do you own a new HTC device? Is your device bootloader locked? For most of us to obtain root, using the HTC method of unlocking is tiresome. Go here, input this command, copy this, push that, and all to let HTC know that you want to void your warranty.
Until now that is.
Say hello to the latest creation from XDA developer: frigid. Known as HTC Super Tool v2, this bad boy roots a number of devices according to frigid, including:
Evo Design 4g
Evo 4g
Evo 3d
Evo Shift
G2
MT3Gs
MT4G
MT4Gs
Inspire
Sensation
Incredible
Wildfire S
Amaze
And a lot more if it works for your device either post here or PM me and I will add to the list!
For right now there is no functioning S-OFF, but it’s in the works, so head on over to the thread here and show your unrooted HTC device some love.
Happy Rooting.

Already discussed at length but Merry Xmas anyways.

Doesn't work.

For Sense ROMS it does de-sense and re-sense fine.
Wildfire s can be rooted few months ago, nothing new here

Hi!!
While we have s-on no permanent root can be achieved.
This is only temporary root. Isn't it?
Bye!!

I don't mean to be disrespectful but please try to check out if the information is accurate before posting things like this.
The original thread about the Super Tool is 5 months old!
Do you really think that nobody would have noticed it? Did you read any posts before putting this here? There are lots of WFS users that already confirmed that this doesn't work on GSM phones.
Could you please ask the mods to remove this?
Come on guys, this is the reason why were legacy for some time. Too much repeated (dis)information.
This is already the third thread about the Super Tool that I find today in the WFS section...
The Super Tool only works with CDMA phones and for that purpose there are already enough threads available. Nothing new so I kindly suggest you to ask a mod to remove this.

So from what I am reading (uber Android noob, just got it yesterday), no S-off or rooting for WFS GSM yet. And in order to delete all the vodaphone and other crapola from the limited phone memory, you need to have roor access which precludes Sing-off first, correct?

Hi guys sorry if this has been mentioned before but i think i've read every post regarding the HTC desire running 2.2.
Im a noob to this android o/s but i managed to install the stock 2.2 update on my lock T-Mobile unrooted Desire.
Anyone want to know how?
yes please...
Go on then, spread the word!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ok firstly my mistake, i have a locked t-mobile Htc Desire, then root it, then install a custom rom then install stock RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed
then run software udate and you have a stock 2.2 rom result.
well done...
<slow hand clap>
Thread is pointless really.
A) Your title and content is completely wrong and how could you not know this when you posted originally and B) The actual rom details etc is well known to most people as there are already plenty of threads here and other forums with same info.
Wake up dude.
This thread should be torched by the mods before too many T-Mo users think this guy is a genius.
Is there difference from usual DHD?

It's probably just the batch number or something. THere can be used some different materials (like the two diffrent screen brands). But it's just the DHD. NOthing more nothing less.

Hi Dr m0x,
how did you enchanced your DHD ?
Dear All DESIRE HD user,
Did anyone of you manage to ROOT your DHD ? z4root doesn't work with DHD !!! ....too bad....please let me know.
We're pretty much all rooted here
Have a look at the pinned threads in the development section for guides. You need to use Visionary, not z4root for DHD.

Hope it helps.
When I was rooting i did stupid act, I had phone on 1.72 version, and before rooting i decided to use official upgrade to 2.36. That act costed me a lot of time and energy to downgrade but I finally managed it. I also had to use GOLDCARD (and I borrowed SD card from my daughters phone, lucky me to have a daughter who was willing to lend me her card) Long story short, just follow instructions, but before, be sure to understand every step you need to take. It would be a problem that you reach 2/3 of a way and than you find out you don't understand step or two, and your phone is turned on half way to rooting. Read instructions few times before start to do things.
Hello everyone! I own a desire hd and it's stock (soft. ver. 1.72.405.3), I must say I am ok with it that way but still I'm thinking of rooting it..
but I don't know much about that.. though I like it stock I understand there are some things it can do more...
first of all: what do I lose by rooting? the htc sense? the htc themes/ interface? the dolby surround and srs software?? see, I don't really want to return to the basic android and I like the custom htc interface..do I lose it??
second I heard about the official upgrade to 2.3 so I would be better to wait for that first?
by rooting I am mainly looking for overclocking..god, that's so cool!
so if someone can answer me the questions above, it would be great! also, if I decide to root which is the best way to do that, what programs do you recommend, is there a desire hd based ROM, and what should I do for overclocking?
thanks a lot!
First of all, your current software version cannot be rooted, you need to downgrade to an earlier version to root. You can root without installing custom roms, but most of the custom roms come with sence and all the htc additions
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Hi,
and welcome to XDA.
The software version of your Desire HD (DHD for short) is not possible to root. In order to overclock you will need to downgrade to an earlier version (1.32).
Once downgraded rooting becomes easy. The process of rooting will not break anything, including the stuff you've mentioned. However, there is an additional layer of protection that HTC employ to prevent you from bricking you DHD. This beast is known as S-ON (Security On). In order to make persistent changes to your DHD, such as custom HTC Sense ROM's you will need to disable this, achieving S-OFF. This will break Over The Air (OTA) Updates from HTC or your network/carrier.
Again this is pretty straight forward.
If you wish to flash a new Radio you will need to have ENG S-OFF & Radio S-OFF.
The guides posted below are not created by me, they are very good and information in them will overlap slightly.
To downgrade, read this guide carefully --> Downgrading to 1.32 - Guide By jkoljo
To root & apply ENG S-OFF, read this guide carefully --> Rooting & Applying ENG S-OFF - Guide By jkoljo
To apply Radio S-OFF, read this guide carefully --> Applying Radio S-OFF - Guide By jkoljo
Once you have done all the basics we can talk you through the rest.
Let us know how you get on.
hey! thank you both
so I want to know, beside this protection that has to be disabled, the phone will act normal, right? no performance loss?
and also, if i block the update, i won't be able to update to gingerbread?
are you satisfied with the phone rooted compared to the stock?
and i'm planning to move to UK, will I be able to use it in other carrier such as o2 since I've got mine from orange RO?
Thank you
Tib!
You are correct, your DHD will not behave any differently than if the protections were enabled.
The Official Gingerbread update from HTC is still quite a while away, and all of the custom ROM Dev's will include any changes into their ROM's. So don't feel like you will miss out if you root & apply S-OFF.
Yes, I am very happy with it rooted. I can over/under clock my CPU when the situation demands, block in-app ads system wide, perform full backups of my entire DHD. These are merely scratching the surface of what root access can enable.
As for you moving to the UK, once you perform Radio S-OFF using the guide and tool described above, your DHD will not be SIM Locked to a particular network/carrier.
sounds great then.. but: it will erase all the data on the phone, right? i will lose everything
secondly, I am concerned about the rest of the process.. i will root it but after that? I'm sure all the cool stuff isn't free but i don't have access to payed apps on market, just for free ones (this is what is available for Romania at the time..) so i'm afraid i will get stuck..
thanks
Downgrading will erase all data on your DHD.
Some, not all the cool stuff are paid app's.
For instance SetCPU, the app nearly everyone uses to overclock their handsets is a paid app. But for XDA members its free. You can find it here on XDA-Devs, its all above board and legit. Other apps such as Titanium Backup have a paid app version on the Market, but also allow you buy a donate key from within the app.
I wouldn't worry about getting stuck, there are hundreds of users here all willing to help if you do.
EDIT: You can find SetCPU --> HERE, obviously if you like it and can afford to, donate to the author.
my friend, I understand there is a lot of work so I don't expect anything for free... of course I will donate (the app to download is at the end of the first thread, right?) but until now, the only access I had was to the free apps on market.
now.. I want to risk and root my phone.. (for me is an important decision) ) can I do this myself?
first I will follow the three steps you told me above and then I will look for help)
thanks

You can do it yourself and it's perfectly safe provided you take the time to read the guides and follow the instructions carefully.

by rooting it allows you to change the stock ROM (HTC sense) on your phone to another custom ROM either based on Froyo or Gingerbread
hi everyone,
i've just bought a DHD a month ago and my software version is 1.32.707.5
I have read quite a lot of thread regarding rooting the DHD but somehow i'm afraid that i brick my DHD if i try to root it because it seems that it is not as easy as running android on my HD2. My question is, is there anything i need to check before i start rooting?
Cheers

hi , ive been reading the guides and am really keen to root my dhd, was just about to start the process when i read that it wouldn't work with my branded dhd (vodaphone, australia) is this true? was hoping to go from 1.32.178.5 to 1.72.405.3 R2 is this possible using the stock to leedroid guide?
anyone, please tell me the difference with branded and unbranded DHD? and how to check them out?

as far as I know, the branded ones show the logo of the company (ex Vodafone, T-mobile.. etc)
The whole thing is really confusing to me. I do have ENG S-OFF, and already flashed a Radio and some Roms. Is ENG S-OFF better than Radio S-OFF? Or what is the difference to it?
I read some threads about it and now I am really confused..
Kick me!
hi
well i'm a newbee here, just got my hands on htc wildfire a couple of week back, after reading a series of threads, here's my question :
1. should i really need to root my device?
2. how can i find my hboot version?
3. if anyone of you senior players have a full rooting video, pls snd me the link.
Thanks
hey its me again..
just found out the specs of my device :
hboot 1.01.0002
microp 0622
radio 3.35.20.10
now the new question :
can i root with this ver of hboot???
What phone do you have and also what version are you running??
gingerbread or froyo??
You don't *need* to root. All rooting does is give you privileges to do things to your phone that you otherwise can't do, like install custom roms & other apps that have extended "root-only" features. You will most likely enjoy your phone more if it's rooted. You will also get more help if you post your question in the Wildfire section.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I use my phone about 2x more since I rooted it. Rooting the phone gives you access to customize the phone more to your liking. I use the HTC Incredible with CM and I am still looking for different customizations. Overall, I would root the phone if given the ability.
Agreed!
1st. go to Wildfire dedicated section
2nd. Root is not a must but will give you more flexibilities and extra functions of your phone. Consider like having 150% of your phone.

+1. If you like to tinker around with your phone - root it.
If you want it just be a phone - don't worry about it.
Only way to make the Wildfire and Wildfire S rootable is to use the XTC clip.
Thankx guys for all your suggestions, but i tried rooting it with unevoked, but after wards its says, that your firmware is too new to be rooted,
I use : HTC Wildfire , froyo
hboot 1.01.0002
microp 0622

Thankx again...
You're in the wrong forum, this is for the Wildfire S...
Exactly, maybe you could find answers in the Wildfire section and also here

People say this beta version is working for Wildfire.
But be careful, read and ask questions on them IRC channel.
Good luck with rooting
hello guys, im a happy new member of the desire community .
I have came from a Sony Ericsson Xperia x8, which i a little different in terms of modding your roms and radios... I have looked around the threads for a while now and not really found anything what answers my question, so sorry if there maybe a duplicate don't burn me if there is i have tried.
I know how to root my phone and the recovery installation as i had an old HTC wildfire what i broke but am not familiar with unlocking and flashing bootloaders hence why i need your help.
But i would like some help or answers regarding my HTC so here we go...
Well first of all the HTC is locked onto the orange network, i am currently on three so how could i get my phone unlocked... possibly free?
Also when i get my HTC unlocked if i flash things like new radios, roms, bootloaders ETC... will my phone remain unlocked or become locked again?
Also what is the first rom i should try out? I would want a fast one whats stable but maybe perhaps android 4.0 or above, can you guys give me some suggestions please thanks.
Ps: Sorry for the wall of text i want to make sure i get things right and don't brick my phone in the process of unlocking. :fingers-crossed:
Hey m8. Welcome I'm also new, but for our needs this page is the best, therefore i highly recommend to read this both threads, i flashed a custom ROM yesterday, so I'm very new in this, too xD
