[GUIDE] Flash Image GUI [Joeykrim] Flash recovery or kernel without PC - Nexus S 4G Android Development

All credit goes to Joeykrim for his outstanding work.
Download his flash image app from the market here
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.flashimagegui&hl=en
You then download either your kernel image or your recovery image.
Navigate to it within the app. Tick flash and voila your good to go!
No Need for your PC and fastboot!
I did flash twrp and can verify it does work
Change name of image to recovery.img
* I believe an update does not require this step now *

Thanks Joeykrim!

It only has choices for kernel or recovery at this time

very nice!!! it's to bad root is a prerequisite, because this would be very helpful for initial recovery/root flashing on a new unrooted phone. It's not like hooking up a usb is that hard, but anything that can be done without it, IMO, is a good thing

Great find thanks for sharing.

This will stay on my phone..thanks and great find!

Flash Image GUI is a must have. I've experienced kernels that just wouldn't flash right for me in recovery and FI always did the trick.

[MOD][CWM][SCRIPT]Reodex your ROM and be faster

This CWM script will reodex any custom ROM.
With BOOTCLASSPATH edit in dexo.sh it can work on any ROM and phone.
Reodexing gives some people perceivable speed up. And it frees data partition from system dalvik cache. So dalvik-cache rebuild is also accelerated.
I ran it with stock kernel (root injected). And had problems with running it on any custom kernel.
http://galaxytree.net/bravomail/universalOdex.zip
Also a good example of output from shell script into CWM console.

Holy cow amigo. You started a bunch of threads. A little credit to original author would have been nice if you took the work and revamped it. All credit cause you didn't.
Sharing is caring. But I suggest you put where you got the script, etc, as well as the original author.
edit. upon further review, i see that you did change some things, mainly removing the original header (which is absolutely lame) and made it work with CWM. Also, you set a static BOOTCLASSPATH - which defeats the purpose of this script!!
Let me check my pms and emails. Someone contacted me a long time ago asking me review to their changes. Maybe it was you lol.

Tried on AOKP JB doesnt do anything
This didn't do anything for me either.
Love how this guy made like 8 threads.

Can't flash roms from fh13

Hey so I rooted my epic 4g touch from fh13 and have flashed the agat and el29 cwm recoveries through mobile odin pro in hope of flashing cm9 beta 1. Both gave me the same thing, the bootscreen stops at Samsung galaxy. I wiped data and cache both times. If anyone has any idea of what's going on please help me out.
Thanks

Try the el26. That's the one you need for cm, aosp, aokp builds. Just flash that kernel then wipe and flash

Best bet is to use direct boot cwm per cm instruction. Better safe than sorry. I used this to go from ff18 to cm9 before i came back to fi03. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874374 and click on direct boot cwm...

Anyway we can get a wipe zip

I know back on the epic 4g touch Caulkin made a flashable zip that did everything for a clean install.
I know what to do and have no issue with doing a clean install... But a lot of issues I see is because people are doing dirty flashes.

Wrong forum kid
I saw that right after I posted.. But it definitely would cut down on a lot of the posts from people having problems if this was made

Most ROMs have built in scripts to wipe what is necessary (cashe and dalvik). the only other thing you would need to wipe is data which is as easy if not easier than flashing a zip...just chose that option in recovery. no need for a wipe all.
Also the last wipe file that was made bricked more phones than just wiping properly in CWM/TWRP.

Dump current ROM into ROM.zip file

I am looking for a way to dump my current setup into a ROM.zip that would be flash able. What tools would I use? Goal is to be able to use the autopatcher to make a pdoid patch.
ROM is stock JRO03O from VZW. But small mods have been done to get it to where i want it.

Easiest way would be make a nandroid and run through dsixda kitchen.
Other methods are more fun but will require some effort.

Can you provide links to other methods?

You can do it in CWM now
Backup & restore >> create image zip
Cool beans. I use TWRP but may switch back.

Ok, I downloaded CWM 6.0.1.0 from CWM site, flash_image'd it real quick, loaded it, did a nandroid, and cannot find the option to create image.zip
What am I missing?

Can I use ROM Factory or is that going to be an issue? Anyone have experience with ROM Factory on the Toro?
Barg! RomFactory made the zip, but autopatcher could not probe the romtype.

Look in the development forum for a cwm thread there are newer builds I forget in which build that feature was introduced. I know its in 6.0.1.14

Thanks, that is what I found and used.

Cyanogenmod Insatller?

IS cyanogenmod installer compatible with the epic 4g touch? I am rooted (SuperUser Elite) with stock android (4.0.4) I really do not want to brick my phone.
ROM Manager? No. Don't use it.

@bilgerryan
Its not ROM manager, it makes installing cm on a devices very easy. (Have you been living under a rock? )
To the op: I'm not sure, you might need to check the compatibility list.

Then what should I use for custom roms?
Do it the old fashion way, download a ROM and install a custom recovery and flash...
