Does the tip of the s pen wobbles or is it rock solid?

The tip moves, about the same amount as a retractable ballpoint pen. As it's pressure sensitive, I guess it has to have some play in it.

My S-Pen tip is wobbly more than an old Wacom Bamboo stylus. And comparing it to a ballpoint pen - I wouldn't use such low quality pen. However it does not matter a lot because of the space between the tip and the display (glass + air) and sometimes random offset - it's not too precise...

On each side of the keyboard there is a crescent shaped piece of clear plastic sort of like a screen protector. Is this something you are supposed to remove or is it there to protect the paint from opening/closing of the unit?

Your better off leving it on. If you take it off, there are two little nubs on the back of the screen that ride in that area to keep space, and if you remove those plastics, it makes marks on either side of the keyboard. If you tilt you screen up and look at the back. the tiny nubs are near the 2 screws.
I suggest leaving it on. It does seem to help keep the sliding movement of the screen from digging in to the case.
Regardless of how thin a screen protector is, I would imagine that because it is an extra layer between the stylus and the screen, it would negatively affect the responsiveness of the stylus.
For people that do use a stylus, have you noticed any changes?
I'd like to protect my screen, but I also don't want to defeat the point of having a unique input method like this.

And you would be wrong, because it's a wacom stylus.
Unless your screen protector is a quarter inch thick, you'll be fine.
Try this:go into s memo, put a piece of cardboard on top of your note and draw on the cardboard with the s pen. No problem.
I have a freebee protector until I get my case, and I can vouch that this does not affect the stylus in any way.

My wife is pretty thin, but when I put her between the Note and stylus, I couldn't write anything. It did make my wife giggle quite a bit, though.
I will attest that with a dirty screen protector, aka a full day without a good micro fiber wipe, my screen sensitivity is reduced in CERTAIN typing scenarios. Holding the device horizontal or vertical is fine. When my phone is resting on a flat surface and I'm standing over it...for some reason sensitivity is greatly reduced. Dirty screen mind you. I clean it and its better. I'm thinking of using the SGS2 touch booster app.
As the people in the previous posts said, the screen protector doesn't interfere with the s-pen at all, as far as the extra thickness could matter.
What you should take into consideration is the material the screen protector is made of. I use an IPG screen protector (similar to Zagg), and it has a slight "rubbery" feel, since the protector is a bit soft (compared to the screen itself - for example, I can leave a marking on the protector with my fingernail, although it goes away after a minute), so the pen kind of "sinks" a little in the protector, giving more resistance than without a protector. It doesn't really matter to me, since you get used to it, but you might want to consider this aspect.
I imagine that plastic protectors and others which aren't as soft will not have this.

Its not that the stylus doesnt work ..its that is Drags on the protector making use very difficult if not impossible.

Do You know how spen works?
If not, google for it.
So the answer is NO, the screen sensitivity won't change.
But......it will get scratched (this will look badly) and it will be harder to move around with the stylus due to bigger resistance (maybe not with an original screen protector-mine was universal).
The conductive tip of this stylus simulates a finger touch, tap or swipe to provide a full touch screen environment without leaving a single fingerprint behind. Within its attractive design, the shirt pocket clip allows the Stylus to be stored in a pocket or it can be clipped to some carry/protective cases. I want to get a stylus to speed up interaction and leave those messy fingerprints behind. So I find 2-in-1 Universal Capacitive Screen Stylus from http://dx.com/s/STYLUS+PEN Most stylus pens feel cheap in the hand, feeling to light and not actually like a pen. But this one has come out with a stylus that FEELS like a pen. It is heavy enough to feel durable in the hand and not hollow or plastic like most. It is good not having finger prints on the screen thanks to this awesome product!
The best stylus for this phone I would say would be your finger

Can anyone suggest a way to add some resistance to the s-pen stylus in order to duplicate writing with a pencil on paper?

Matte screen protector.
I right now have a clear screen protector on and it adds a little bit to it but not as fine grained as matte protector, however still not like pencil on paper.
Be wary that s-pen tip can wear much faster with friction. A friend swears by using crazy glue (Cyanoacrylate) to coat and protect the tip but I find it a bit over the edge.

Would Crazy Glue do any harm to the screen?
you can also buy a bamboo feel and purchase different nibs. some add more resistance than others. you'll need to test for offset, so buy it from somene with a good return policy.

I'm thinking that this may be the best way to go since I'm using Lecture Notes which can re calibrate the offset.

not if you are using over a screen protector layer., but i'm a bit skeptical about that nevertheless.

I hate the flap so I cut it off and mount the spen on the back with super glue lol
Edit: official glue at the middle. Much easier to hold and avoid rocking when unfold
the only problem with this setup would be that the phone cannot lie flat once unfoldid.

i haven't glued SPen yet so still flat so far. May not use Spen at all. Only the back attached. WIll look for the front screen protector

Thanks ! i was wondering if you could glue the thin bracket alone , spen case can easily slide in and out.

I glue it to the middle now so easier to hold and avoid rocking when unfold. Yes you can glue the other alone but it will look a bit ugly (I did try before - thicker and without spen it does look beat up lol)
I recommend only cutting the top cover flap off and keeping the pen silo portion of the case where it is from factory. I did this today and really like it so far. Thickness of the phone stays the same when pocketed. The pen silo actually acts like a grip for your fingers when the phone is unfolded too

This is what I mean by the pen silo being a grip for your fingers. Acts like a ledge of sorts in landscape orientation. Main problem of course is that when in folded orientation, the pen flaps around a bit - but it isn't as bad as I thought it'd be
Looks good.
Will the pen flaps scratch the screen?

Doubtful. The cover screen is gorilla glass and the inside of the case is micro fiber
I saw this on YouTube. Lol. I don't know what real reason to my the case like this. Nothing help.

I just did this. You solved 2 issues. 1-got rid of the flap and 2-gave support for holding while open. Great idea!

Right! I've been pleasantly surprised just how well cutting the front flap off has worked out. Another plus is that this doesn't interfere with wireless charging. It's pretty comfortable holding the tablet with just my left hand now too

i did try that and the moving part killing me so i cut it off too lol. The spen for me in the middle of the hand when folded create better grip (same with unfold - not moving parts)
What glue did you use for this? I wonder if I could get the stylus to stick to the official silicone case...

Just normal super glue at $.99 cent stores
I'm thinking of buying a stylus holder that you can buy and stick to just about anything. It would look and function just as similar. I hate this case but I'm not sure I want to destroy it yet. Having had a Mate 20 X I'm used to having the stylus separate. Actually still have the leather holder I bought for it.

I'm thinking of doing the same.
Here is what I did. What two pen holders off Amazon for like $15. They have adhesive that connects to any kind of plastic it won't work with metal for some reason. I also got the plastic case off of Amazon and I'm just using the back. It not only works and stays in it but it also wireless charges too even though it's held up slightly

I'm doing something similar. I ordered a couple of these:
in-Line Multi Functional Foldable Stylus Pen Magnetic Holder Comparable with 1st & 2nd Gen, Keeps The Flatness, Supports 2nd Gen Pencil Wireless Charging (Black) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B097H5J78T/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_XP4TF2MJCCFYH0QK4250?psc=1
I liked the idea of one long pen holder instead of two small ones.
Also, if you check Amazon, those Ringke holders you have should be three for $10, not two for $15.
