[BOOT ANIMATION]E4GT 2.3.6 Bios With Sound - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

This is based on the great work done by animelover. Jerdog originally posted this I am just updating it for 2.3.6. I did not make this so all credit goes to animelover. I just put it in a zip that will work for our phones.

Open a root file explorer and navigate to system/media and tell me if the boot animation is named "bootanimation.zip", or "sanim.zip". I can try to make you a flashable zip if it's ok with the crawrj.

when i flash the boot animation it installs the bootanimation.zip into system/media. I'm thinking it might be the stock kernel. The kernel has to have bootanimation support right?

I'm going to try to post one for stock people in a few.

Make sure your kernel supports boot animation. I am stock el13 with stock rogue kernel and it works.

People having trouble on stock kernel try this: http://db.tt/Z3pfNCYJ
If that doesn't work, toggle signature verification off in recovery and try this: http://db.tt/5HKEtB2s
If that doesn't work...then sorry, I tried.

Ok. Sorry bro. I tried.

i got this to work perfectly while running rogue stock EL13 kernel, just downloaded the zip in OP, placed on sd card, went to the zip using root explorer, touched it once to open it, went to system folder then to media then extracted the bootanimation.zip, renamed it to sanim.zip, then moved it to system/media, restarted phone, and it worked perfectly. However, i could not figure out where to move the sound to, i moved it to system/etc but didn't do anything, so if anyone could tell me where to put that, id be grateful ^^

Using custom kernel works, just not on stock el13 kernel. Audio file should go into /etc folder.

Bootani problem

I am on stock EC05 with cwm2 root and custom kernel. I wanted a different bootani, so I flashed one. Now they are layered over each other. It looks like crap.
Want to know how to get rid of stock bootani and sound. Tryed removing or renaming with root explorer, and they keep coming back.

This is caused by data corruption. Did you reflash again?

No problem! I think you only need to do that once and now you can change bootanimation.zip without cleaning.

How to change boot animation and splash screen on epic 4g?

I'm familiar with the procedure on my evo 4g but never did it on my wifeys epic 4g..Is it just flashing the pc36.img of a splash and putting the boot animation you want in the correct folder?? thanks again
Just flash a bootanimation.zip threw cwm.

Make sure you have a kernel that supports custom boot animation. Genocide is easiest and painless. You may also have to remove stock boot animation if you see double images. There is a boot cleaner floating around for that.
BONSAI 4 and loving it!
You can go into your system/media folder and rename the bootani.qmg file to bootani.bak or just delete it entirely. That will get rid of the double boot bleed threw.
Also I have my own personal boot animation removal.. Just follow up once you run it with a flashable of a bootanimation you want.
Remove Stock Boot Animation (Flash in CWM3.0.0.6) Gets rid of the stock boot animation if its still there, I made this for the stock deodexed version of Froyo EB13.
Ok first post here. I'm runing prerooted 2.2.1 build with drockstars kernel, cwm purple, chainfire...ect ect. Anyways. I have not been able to replace anything in the system files. And the helix flash zip files for boot ani don't work. Shutdowns are easy. Got that on lock. What I'm realy interested in is finding a .zip cwm flashable file that will replace the samsung splash screen. Idk what pic is there as ill replace it with what I want (radioactive symbol). I saw a thread about it on here but I can't find it. This is the closest I've been able to come. So any ideas on that. I've got amillion other questions too. I've been scowering this sight for months. Two bricks later I'm gettin the hang of it.

i finally did it.

Im on AOKP M5 and I finally soft bricked into bootloop. I accidentally erased the frameworks-res.apk and before I had a chance to put another one back in everything shutdown and forced closed. I know I can odin and start over, but i was wanting to know if there is a way to push the framework file back with out having to start from scratch?

That's why you make it framework-res.bak and not delete it, then paste in the modified one and set permissions.
Congrats!

Well I had no intentions of deleting or replacing files at the time. All I wanted to do was copy it. But never mind, I found out how the hard way. thanks for the help.

This happened to me once before and i was able to get it back by using droid explorer to copy the framework back. First odin the EL26 stock CWM kernel also download FD26_AOSP.zip as well then once you are in CWM go ahead and open Droid Explorer then find the framework-res.apk from AOKP M5 and drag it to the correct folder system/framework/. at this time grab your phone and do a fix permission under the advance tab in CWM, also drag that kernel anywhere in your sd card so that you can flash it and make AOKP bootable.
Once you get into CWM and if droid explorer does not detect your phone, please find the "Reboot" option in CWM and then replug in your phone to your pc and Droid Explorer should now see it
Good luck! i know this seems like a lot and it might just be easier to odin back to EL29 and start over.
cant he just odin to el26cwm and reflash the rom to replace the files he "accidentally deleted" then reboot?

I thought about this and quickly decided that this seems too risky. Considering I modded a few things and they won't work nice with some of the files in the original build.

[HOWTO] Change Bootloader Animation on Stock Rom and CM10.1

I have created this thread to help people easily change their Boot animation on S3. I was running Stock Bell MF1 running KTweaker kernel and this worked. I am now running CM10.1 and it works on that as well. The steps I used to preform and some sources that I have gotten my animations from are all listed below. If you click the links Please, Please hit the thanks button under each threads OP as these are the guys who actually did the work. Im just a guy sharing my experience. If you report success or failure with this method, please leave Rom/Kernel info in your comment so others have something to search for. And of course before doing any of this create a Nandroid. Enjoy.
For CM10.1 skip step 1
1: My very first step was to flash the 'Bootanimation_support.zip' file from the following link. It enabled bootanimation support for my rom. https://app.box.com/s/blvftexwa2b7vap42rfm
2: take bootanimation.zip file from any of the lower sites and push it to data/local and reboot. There are some in these links that dont seem to work, just try another. Want to be sure it works. Use first link and you will see.
This is the best one I have ever seen. The youtube link in the post shows video of it running on an S2, but I assure you it works as it is the one I am currently using. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982078&highlight=boot+animation
This one has a few to chose from. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867706&highlight=boot+animation
Here is another one that I will confirm working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30478959&postcount=20
Also this one if you open the zip /data and take the bootanimation.zip out and put in sd/data/local. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888848&highlight=boot+animation
Custom ATT boot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906092&highlight=boot+animation
REMEMBER TO THANK THE OP OF THESE THREADS IF YOU USE THEM!
I tried this, downloaded the flashable zip of the countdown boot animation, flashed in recovery, confirmed it was placed in data/Iocal, permissions are rw/rw/rw, but I'm still getting the stock Samsung boot!! I have an AT&T i747 running deTmobilized 1.5 with stock packaged kernel... Something I'm missing?

I also have the same file in system/media. I believe it is the stock animation, so i'd leave it alone. If you use an animation that is not working it will automatically go back to this one.
I have just tested this on CM10.1 as well and will confirm it to work. For CM10.1, I skipped step 1 flash and just moved bootanimation.zip to data/local. Again I am running Ktweaker, but the AOSP version this time.

[Mod] Enable Bootanimation.zip support for Stock 4.3 & 4.4.2

Here's 2 modified "/system/bin/bootanimation" files that points to a bootanimation.zip file instead of bootsamsung.qmg files.
One for 4.3 based roms, and one for 4.4.2,
Check it out, there is a readme inside the zip file.
This is NOT a flashable file, because not everyone is using custom recoverys on there stock roms. Use a root explorer to change the files
DO NOT FLASH, AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
As always Enjoy!
Download Link - http://www.dillonpos.com/note3toolkit/BootBinary/Bootanimation_Binary_Note_3.zip
NOTICE: There seems to be a 25% chance this will not work for some people (mostly 4.3 roms) If this doesn't work for you troubleshoot as follows:
1. Did you put a good bootanimation.zip in /system/media/?
2. Did you setup the /system/bin/bootanimation file's permissions properly? (permissions should be rwxr-xr-x)
3. Did you use the right file for your rom?
If after checking these it doesn't work please pm me with your model and rom info, Thanks

actually.. these wont work currently due to it flashing the binary that i had in there for ages which will overwite yours. So I wouldn't recommend flashing mine yet. You can copy the zip over thoguh from inside the flashable file

Since deodexed roms boot up differently I can't guarantee this will work with it. It was intended Samsung based "odex" roms. Sorry.
If I do find one that works with Deodex roms I'll let you know.

4.4.2 T-mobile stock, only thing I have done to it is rooted it, baseband is N900TUVUCNB4 "not sure if that makes a difference or not."
